Lite Bites Brooklyn Reviews
Delicious breakfast sandwich, fresh squeezed juice, and house made hot sauce. Super kind staff!!
Food is always consistently good. Delivery is on time. Also, I called to try to get an extra added to my GrubHub order and the guy on the line figured it out for me even though grub hub wouldn’t let him add the order. Really cool staff 👍
I got there in the morning and they were running a tad off schedule but they were willing and happy to still serve me as they were getting ready for the day. I got there and hash-which and it was amazing! When they say spicy they mean it all the ingredients blended so well together just talking about it I fell like I can taste the sandwich again. I only went once cause I was in the area but if I’m around the area again I already know what I’m going for!
The lunch options at this restaurant are consistently delightful, showcasing rich flavors that elevate the dining experience. The service is quick, making it a convenient choice for a meal. Additionally, the cozy seating area provides an inviting atmosphere for those who prefer to enjoy their meal on-site.
Lite Bites is an overlooked Greenpoint gem! It's located on the epicenter of GP breakfast spots on Manhattan Ave & Norman Ave - and I'm telling you, this place is a slam dunk! The food is exceptional and the owners couldn't be nicer. I've tried a few of their lunch sandwiches - so far all of them are served on quality rolls/bread, all ingredients are fresh, and all the sandwiches are unique and creative (not your run of the mill menu). My breakfast go to is the Bacon Hashwich Sandwich - eggs, avocado, bacon and A HASHBROWN served on a brioche roll! Genius!!! My BF loves pancakes, which they also have many varieties of (including coconut ones) - these pictured here are the Fruitty Stack with the blueberries and strawberries folded in! This is also the spot for delicious Caribbean food (served M-F) with different daily options. I was able to sample the chicken roti...there are no words! Roti was buttery delicious, the chicken melted in my mouth - incredible! Show this place some love and support a longstanding local small business!
This is my breakfast spot almost every morning. Today I finally got lunch. When I tell you the FOOD tasted like it was straight from Trinidad. Omg, I had it all on my plate. I told the owner to put everything but meat. To have this Caribbean Spot in the middle of Greenpoint is amazing. It's right off of the backend of the G line. Never had a bad meal here. They have a variety of meats available, it's just that I'm not a meat love. They have jerk chicken, stew chicken, curry chicken, beef etc. They cook different things every day. They always have fried bake and saltfish or herring. Also alloo pie aka potato pie. They also serve American food. You can dine in order to go plus you can call in for delivery plus use the other foods apps available.
Is there a 6-star review option?! I am very impressed with this place. The dark-haired lady behind the counter may as well have been three people. Rarely do I see someone as good at their job as she is. Her ability to take orders, communicate with staff and organize dishes/coffee while also greeting half of the customers by their first names and personal questions blew me away. She is one of a kind. The cooks were fast, efficient and built my “Mediterranean Bowl” perfectly. The waitress was kind, sweet, warm and prompt - I wasn’t bothered and I also wasn’t ignored (the perfect balance). I just happened across Lite Bites while working in the neighborhood and practically stumbled in for lunch. Let’s just say it’s the best accidental decision I’ve made since I don’t know when! PLEASE visit these fine people and don’t forget to TIP WELL! They deserve it.
What Lite Bites lacks in atmosphere and presence, it makes up for in taste and efficiency. I got a croissant Hashwich, a sandwich consisting of eggs, pepper jack cheese, hashbrowns, and ham. The Eggs were well cooked, folded nicely and fit perfectly inside the vessel of the croissant. The ham was less the star of the show and more of a supporting role, and the saltiness paired nicely with the spiciness of the cheese. Ultimately, my favorite part was the unsung hero of the sandwich, the hashbrown. It was the perfect thing to soak up any grease, and was delightfully fluffy on the inside, despite having a nice crunch with every bite. I also liberally applied the hot sauce that they provided, which seemed to be a habanero based sauce. It went perfectly with the sandwich, and I used all of it that they provided. I also ordered a vegetarian egg wrap from off the menu, consisting of scrambled eggs, avocado, tomato, spinach and feta cheese. The staff were easily able to accommodate a custom order. The eggs were nice and fluffy, the vegetables were fresh, but the tortilla could've been crisper, as it started to fall apart as time went on. The habenero hot sauce was an amazing addition to the wrap as well. The only department that Lite Bites is lacking in is coffee. There was no menu for coffee, and no customization options. I asked if they had a coffee menu I was missing, but they informed me if I wanted a coffee I could get it hot, or iced, and that was it. On the plus side though, they did have a large refrigerator with a plethora of options for canned and bottled beverages, some of which I had never even seen before. They also had the rater rare Inca kola, which was delicious as always. Overall, I thought Lite Bites was a very pleasant for a quick breakfast, and their indoor dining tables and fast service made for an excellent fast breakfast for the busy day ahead of me.
My dining experience left much to be desired, particularly in regard to the advertised "messy" sandwich. Contrary to expectations, the sandwich lacked the promised chaos, featuring only a solitary piece of ham and bacon, with an inadequate portion of cheese. Given its $12 price tag, the portion of eggs, coupled with the scarce inclusion of meat and cheese, felt disproportionately underwhelming. The yogurt parfait provided a redeeming aspect, delivering a satisfying flavor profile. However, I would recommend exercising moderation in the sweetness department. While the parfait was enjoyable, the addition of honey, especially in the presence of already naturally sweet fruits, contributed to an overly sugary composition. A more balanced approach to sweetness would enhance the overall gastronomic experience.
Let me start by saying there may be a cultural aspect to this restaurant that my naivety missed, but I was not impressed with the taste of the food. I got the Curry Shrimp and Rice. And while you do get a healthy serving of food, the food itself didn’t have much taste to it. I had to add salt and pepper to give it a little flavor. Not to mention, there were tons of hard rice pieces in the rice. Not sure if it was overdone or old, but that too made for a less than desirable experience. I gave it 3 stars instead of 2 because they were polite, and they have a robust menu. So maybe I just happen to order the wrong thing (although I asked for the most popular item). But I just don’t think I’d try it again.
I was not provided cutlery for my omelet. A person should not have to request these items when ordering a platter! Oh and they don’t provide napkins either when you have to eat your food with your fingers after not getting cutlery. Will not be ordering here again. A customer should not have to ask for napkins and cutlery! They should have to tell you if you don’t want them. So ridiculous!
