Palo Santo Brooklyn Reviews
Fantastic food...We had a table of 13 in the back. All our food came out at the same time. Full dishes all hot and amazing. The 3 course prefix is well worth it. They do not hold back on the portion size. Basically everything is made in house and it shows. The detail to flavors is off the charts. Will definitely be coming back.
OMG ... So yummy. I loved their hot sauce too. Clean restrooms, friendly staff, reasonable prices and great cocktails.
Love, love, LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Excellent food & service! Highly recommend.
The staff was so kind and went above and beyond in their service. My friends and I enjoyed every single dish we ordered but highlights of the night for me included the Mahi mahi ceviche & the guava sorbet! The food was amazing and I will definitely be coming back.
We held the rehearsal dinner for my son's wedding at Palo Santo on 3/15/2024. The food, service, and ambiance were all amazing. Everyone in attendance raved about this place. Even though we had never been here before, the staff at Palo Santo made planning this event from Texas a piece of cake. We cannot recommend Palo Santo more highly.
Went here for my best friend’s birthday. Staff were incredible and we had the best time ever. If you’re going, you have to try the sangria! All the food is delicious so whatever you have, you’ll definitely love.
I rarely make reviews but I felt the need to after I stumbled upon this place. The atmosphere alone is like a movie set- so cozy and dim lit it feels so intimate with the people you are sitting with. The staff was so kind and so nice when asking questions or suggestions about the menu. And the food was INCREDIBLE. The ceviche, tortillas, and avocado as appetizers were so flavorful as well as the homemade salsa. We then got the barbacoa which was amazing as well. Great prices and food it was simply amazing.
Came here on a date with my gf and we had the best time! Amazing food, great service and the atmosphere was perfect
Cozy, secluded location on a residential street with friendly staff. Platano relleno was amazing.
I celebrated my 30th birthday in brunch style on 02/26 and I genuinely enjoyed every single minute at this restaurant! The waiters were super pleasant and helpful, shout out to Max and Gonzalo! Planning my birthday brunch was super easy; I chose the entrees and sides from the online menu and scheduled ahead of time for my desired date. I would have like for the unlimited drinks to be stronger 🤪 but the drinks and food were delicious! Because of the restaurant's ambiance and decor, you really do not need to decorate the place. Overall my family, friends, and I really enjoyed ourselves. I definitely recommend this restaurant as a place to celebrate your special events!!
I've had the pleasure of eating here twice, both times were equally as excellent. I highly recommend the Pato en Mole Poblano and the Coconut Tres Leches dessert. My wife also enjoyed the Coconut Plantain Stew and the Platano Relleno. Do the math but if you get the prefix menu you get three full size courses and dessert is basically on the house.
Great food, really nice staff. I love to sit at the bar - you can see the chefs cooking and the heat from the kitchen doesn't really affect you. There's not really anything bad on the menu except for the stew that comes in far too small of a portion for what you pay for. It's so simple but delicious, get the avocado and fresh tortillas - they are simply amazing. During the summer they'll occasionally have spicy sangria. I love it!
My bf and I were starving and just wandered into this place, and wow! I got the chicken mole tacos which were super juicy and delicious. We also got the avocado app and the cauliflower app which were both amazing. Everything was packed with flavor. I’ll definitely be coming back to this place!
Both the food and service were good. They were gluten-free friendly.
I recently hosted my birthday party here, we had 25 guests. Palo Santo did an exceptional job! The food, service, space was all outstanding. Multiple guests raved about the food. Service was super attentive, they were constantly bringing around drinks, plates, etc. The event space in the back is beautiful and doesn't even need decoration. Planning the event was easy and straightforward. I highly recommend them if you're looking for a venue for a small-medium sized event.
I recently had the pleasure of hosting my sister's bridal shower at Palo Santo, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we reached out via email to inquire about hosting the event, to the very end of the celebration, the restaurant's responsiveness, hospitality, and attentive service were truly commendable. When we initially contacted Palo Santo to discuss hosting the bridal shower, Jacques, the event coordinator, was prompt and courteous in their email responses and it immediately set the tone for what was to come. They were incredibly accommodating, addressing all our questions, concerns, and special requests with genuine care and attention to detail. On the day of the bridal shower, the moment we walked through the doors, we were warmly greeted by the restaurant staff. The attention they paid to each attendee, making sure everyone felt welcomed and comfortable, truly stood out. The waitstaff's attentiveness to details, such as refilling drinks, clearing plates, and offering menu suggestions, enhanced the overall experience and made us feel well-cared for. I highly recommend Palo Santo for hosting special events like bridal showers. The staff's commitment to making our event memorable was evident in every interaction. If you're looking for a venue that not only provides delicious cuisine but also goes above and beyond to create a truly personalized experience, Palo Santo is the perfect choice. I can't thank them enough for making my sister's bridal shower a truly unforgettable celebration.
This is a hidden gem located in Park Slope Brooklyn. We were invited for a gathering this past Sunday and it was more than expected. The ambiance is remarkable! The service and food was perfect. We had rice, beans with slow cooked pork. Some ordered tacos with options of chicken, fish or steak. I recommend having red sangria for the win. We will coming back soon.
This place is 10/10 and some of the best pan latin food I’ve had in the city. Anything I’ve ordered has always been extremely delicious. Service is always warm and accommodating and the decor/atmosphere feels like grandma’s dining room table. Most recently had a big birthday brunch there and they made putting everything together such a breeze and all of my guests were blown away by the food. An added bonus is that their pricing is super reasonable.
Love coming here for dinner! The food and ambiance are great. They always keep the menu interesting and I can expect to try something new every time I come.
Great Food! Great Service, Great Prices 😁 #1 We was greeted upon entry with a smile and service, #2 I was served by Green Hair Waitress Quickly and Smoothly, #3 The Food Was Great, #4 The Ambiance was Quaint and Rustic, #5 It Felt like Home...but it wasn't home 😎, #6 We Brought toddler with us without issue, #7 Wonderful changing table, #8 No Rush from Table #9 Waitress checked on us Enough but not too much which was perfect, #10 I will Be Back (Arnold voice)
Food is delicious and staff is really friendly. Been here for brunch and dinner a few times and have never been disappointed!
Had a really nice dinner at Palo Santo recently. We sat on the back patio, which was adorable and quiet, but a little buggy. Fortunately, the staff kindly provide bug spray so we could still enjoy our meal! The rose sangria was excellent, and both the mushroom and shrimp tacos were fresh and satisfying. Great place for a fun weeknight dinner.
wonderful place my little brother had his wedding reception here blown away by staff and decor
Awesome experience. My fiancee wanted to have a dinner party, and Palo Santo knocked it out of the park. - They were flexible when it came to merging multiple parties' tables together (we gave notice of this ahead of time) - Their service was fantastic. We had a party of 13 and the wait staff was on it the whole evening. For a large party, we were impressed that for each course, the food came out at one time (with multiple servers) to make sure nobody had to wait for their food - The food itself was great. Several options (including vegetarian/vegan) to choose from, all of it was delicious. I believe the menu is seasonal, so there will always be something new to enjoy. EVERYBODY was impressed with the food. Highly recommended!
Beautiful restaurant, kindest staff ever. Everyone loves what she/he is doing. Very very delicious food. We had the best vegetarian tacos and dumplings with its creamy sauce and the postres are great. But also the swordfish and lobster was delicious. Very very tasty wines. Umfortunatly we're living in Germany... (In Germany we call dumplings "Spätzle" (dialect word for little sparrows, but Spatz also means darling) but usually we spread the dough over a cutting board and cut quickly small stripes directly into boiling water. The taste is the same)
A great neighborhood spot with a unique vibe and great food. The poblano soup was delicious. Perfect on a cold day. Highly recommend the sangria!
We came here to check out this quaint off the main avenue restaurant to see if it was worth the hype. Well that depends. We enjoy an intimate and cozy ambiance so this place was a hit for us. Menu is small but that means they could ensure fresher ingredients. The open kitchen is visible from the front dining area which is small but intimate. I enjoyed the sangria and candle on our table. Skirt steak was amazing. Cost is a little high but this is located in an expensive part of Brooklyn. We recommend if you are the type of person who enjoys a small but intimate setting.
We hosted a baby shower for my sister and brother-in-law here, and I could not have been more pleased with how everything turned out! We bought out the whole restaurant, which was perfect for a group of 40 adults and a handful of kids (and it was surprisingly affordable). From the very beginning of the planning process, up until the end of the event, everything about Palo Santo is 5 stars! They made planning the event from Boston (never having been to the restaurant before) such an easy and stress-free process. The food and drinks are delicious, the ambience is chill but elevated, and the location feels extra special and homey at the same time. And the staff? INCREDIBLE. So kind, attentive, and helpful. I feel so lucky to have been able to host an event here, and I cannot wait until I’m back in the neighborhood to have brunch or dinner at Palo Santo!
I had the pleasure of coordinating an intimate wedding at Palo Santo in August and the team was just phenomenal! The food was absolutely delicious, yes, but the staff was so incredibly attentive to my clients and their guests that it just made the experience that much more special. I would enthusiastically recommend Palo Santo as a wonderful place to host an intimate wedding ceremony and dinner for family and friends.
Gorgeous restaurant, great staff, wonderfully priced, and food was delicious. We went for brunch and got the chilaquilles which was SO good. I found the steak a bit hard to chew, but no one else at the table seemed to complain. The bbq’d plantain was fantastic — first time having it but my Latin friends loved it. Apparently the lime pie was super authentic according to my table guests as well
Great place as far as I am concerned. Not crowded maybe because we were fairly early for a Saturday brunch. It was 25 dollars for an entree plus a beverage. We ordered 4 entrees of which only one was non vegetarian and the remaining three had eggs. We shared and I had a taste of all four and most of the lamb hash and eggs since two of us were lacto - ovo vegetarians. It was different from any of the usual Mexican stuff and quite exceptional. Not a cheap place but we enjoyed the food, the decor and the service.
My cousins had their baby shower here. Soon as you walked in drinks where served to you. The food was great. The shower was from 12pm to 3pm. We had taken over the restaurant for the morning afternoon brunch session. They reopened at 5pm for dinner. The space is not that big. I would say about 16 people could be seat in the front of the restaurant and 26 people people could be seat in the back there is also a very small area of out door seating for maybe 6. There are 2 bathrooms. The staff is very patient, friendly and attentive. My family had a blast. I would totally going again for brunch.
A must-try restaurant in Park Slope. The service was very prompt and all covid protocols were followed. The food was absolutely superb with all of the entrees really standing out. There’s a reason they’ve been in park slope for almost two decades, and it’s cause of their fantastic food! I’ll definitely be returning!
Palo Santo and Jacques are the best!!! We had a fantastic experience with them catering everyone at our wedding celebration this past spring. People were raving about the food, especially the freshly made tortillas. 10/10 their food is great!
Our close friends are local and avid lovers of this spot, so naturally, it was our turn to join on their adventure. The owner is a gifted artisanal chef. His menu changes often and the offers are so impressive. He knows how to balance flavors with unique twists. We nearly ordered every appetizer on the menu, along with a pitcher of sangria. The entrees were delicious - the tuna entree substituted for swordfish was flavorful, the crispy chicken-styled entree was a high end twist to batter wings and the plantain coconut dish (first on the entree menu) was impressive in presentation - literally in a coconut shell- and in its flavor. I know I butchered the names on the menu... nevertheless, you cannot go wrong with ordering anything here. The friendly ambiance will nurture your food baby to good health by the time you leave. 5+ stars.
Excellent food and super nice service. This is hands down my favorite Latin restaurant because of the combination of quality, flavor, original recipes, service, and value for money. Interesting brunch options, I loved the pork and the chicken chilaquiles with mole. Their take out options during the COVID lockdown were amazing and I'm so grateful to have had that option.
For the huevos banados for brunch and WOW. I was pretty shocked by how delicious it was. I was there with my partner and we planned to share our dishes but I didn’t want to share mine once I’d tasted it. Luckily the tacos he ordered were tasty too but the banados was an absolute star. Service was also great. The waitress realized I wanted to try the Agua Fresca my friend got with his meal when we asked for a straw and she brought me a small cup of my own to have, which was just so sweet. Will definitely be returning and telling friends to check them out!
Ended up checking this spot out in July 2024. Restaurant week was going on and we were surprised at how great the deal was. Three course meals $45 per person that included one entrée one appetizer and a dessert. We had never been here heard of this spot before, but my brother recommended to check it out. He didn’t steer us wrong. All the food came on time. The service was super friendly. The staff was knowledgeable and everything tasted amazing.would definitely recommend anyone to come here and check it out for themselves. We tried a little bit of everything since it was a group of five of us. So we got to taste five different appetizers, five different entrées and for the desserts. I think they just had to offerings at the moment. But they were really delicious.
We happened to find this place back in 2020 for brunch and have continued to have it on our regular restaurant rotation. We have loved it so much over the years, that we had our wedding ceremony there last year! The staff and food are truly amazing here. They deserve all the 💐💐💐
They did a great job hosting my mom's birthday including delicious food and dessert. The waitress was really nice and excited about the food and wine.
I tried this place for the first time for restaurant week and the deals and options they had were great for the price, we received friendly service and every plate I had was amazing. The duck in mole sauce is a must have. This place definitely has unique dishes to try, will be coming back.
We used Palo Santo to cater our wedding this past November and were so so happy with our experience. Jacques was so amazing to work with -- consulting with us on the perfect menu, personally showing up to prep dishes and ensuring everything ran smoothly. The food was top notch and so delicious. We were so happy that we got to incorporate our latin heritage into our meal and Palo Santo 100% delivered. We totally recommend visiting the restaurant to try all of the amazing dishes and also considering using them to cater anything you may need!!
We had an outstanding experience at Palo Santo! Not only were the staff very friendly and attentive, but the food was amazing. They have a very unique menu and the atmosphere there is so warm and inviting. Everything we had was remarkable, but specifically the Mofongo, the ceviche and the duck were notable. Everything was beautifully plated. The berry crisp and Meyer lemon pie were also outstanding.
The staff here are very kind and make sure you receive top service. The food was absolutely delicious. My fiancé and I enjoyed the ceviche, slow cooked pork, and pan roasted bluefish. The ambiance is very romantic, especially with the candles at the table. We are excited to visit again!
An unassuming restaurant located in the middle of a residential block, has thoroughly impressed me! They have crafted and elevated dining experience while maintaining an authentic and cozy environment. We walked in after trekking through a torrential downpour and were immediately welcomed and served an incredible meal. I highly recommend expanding your pallet by entertaining some of their more experimental dishes that will absolutely satisfy your taste buds! If you order the chicken mole tacos, you absolutely must use their homemade bottled sauce to experience fully the flavor profile of the dish. The slow cooked pork with pineapple was absolutely incredible and the black beans and rice are unmatched! We also had the tres leches and the bread pudding, both were absolutely delicious!
We had the 3 course dinner and it was amazing! The appetizers are fresh, delicious, with large portions. We shared the calamari and ceviche and followed up with the fish (pongy?) And scallops. Dessert was great - I'd recommend the penna cotta. I also pepped the Brussels sprouts that the kitchen was prepping and I'd definitely get that next time..
Lovely brunch here with my friend! I can’t believe it took me so long to visit this restaurant. The drinks were flowing and the food was delicious. We were able to switch back and forth from mimosas or sangria for the bottomless brunch service. I take horrible photos but the fish with grits was so tasty. Looking forward to returning for dinner service soon!
I went to Palo Santo for a friend’s birthday brunch, and wow—I was seriously blown away by how delicious the food was! They offer a bottomless brunch, and we went with the sangria, which was super flavorful and refreshing. Definitely appreciated that it wasn’t watered down like some other places. The space itself is cozy and intimate—yes, it’s a little tight, but it adds to the charm. What really stood out to me was the service. The staff was incredibly attentive and kind, making sure we were taken care of throughout the entire meal. Now, let’s talk about the food—absolutely incredible. My entrée was bursting with flavor, seasoned to perfection, and cooked just right. I couldn't stop raving about it. Of course, I had to sneak a few bites of my friends’ plates, and everything I tried was just as good. You can tell the kitchen puts a lot of love and thought into each dish. This spot is definitely a hidden gem in Brooklyn. I’m already looking forward to going back and trying more of the menu. If you're looking for a flavorful brunch with great vibes and service, Palo Santo is a must. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
5 Years!!!!! 5 Years and counting, I’ve been coming this place. And let me tell you, nothing short of Amazing. The energy, the staff, the cooks, etc. energy is always pleasant and clean EVERY SINGLE TIME entering this space. Even the Owner’s energy is just as pleasant. This energy is put into their food and service each and every time. This space is excellent for date nights, group dining, birthday celebrations, newly wed vibes, anniversary celebrations, private bookings, etc. I really highly recommend this place for it all! This place is a Gift to New York City!
We hosted a baby shower at Palo Santo and it could not have gone better. None of the hosts lived in the NY area so much of the choosing and planning was done remotely. Jacques was very responsive and helpful. We did make it to the restaurant for a tasting - that was a delight in and of itself! We had about 50 people at the event and used the entire restaurant. The group used the entire restaurant for the meal service and was able to gather in the back room for speeches, toasts and some dad jokes (it was a baby shower!). The weather was nice and many guests used the back patio to meet and mingle. The Taco Bar of papas & chorizo, fried fish, and chicken mole tacos was a hit with everyone. We brought in our own cake and they served it. We decorated the tables with fresh flowers in small vases. Their tables are lovely wood so linens weren't needed. The staff was very attentive and kind. I highly recommend Palo Santo for a meal or a private event.
Love. Love. Love! The food here is remarkable. I was really impressed with their entrees and desserts, which we got from their three course prix fixe menu for $49 per person. I was able to try two of each set as I shared. APPETIZER - Yellowfin Tuna Ceviche (4/5) & Grilled Calamari (3/5) The ceviche was a nice sour. The calamari, on the other hand, was bitter in some random bites (not sure what was making it bitter). ENTREE - Pato En Mole Poblano (5/5) & Grass Fed Skirt Steak (4/5) The pato (duck) was soo tender and well cooked. The poblano tasted amazing with the duck. Just no words. Meanwhile, the skirt steak was good but doesn't top the duck in terms of tenderness and flavor. It comes with yuca fries and queso sauce. Dessert - Coconut Tres Leches (5/5) & Chocolate Pecan Bread Pudding (5/5) Both the bread pudding and tres leches were equally and highly impressive. If they made a bakery or dessert shop, I would seriously visit every day. I also like the small request for feedback when you pay at the end. You can compliment the food, workers or make a small note of what could be better.
Food was great only issue is the portion size especially for the price.
My manager and I often dine after spending a day together, and he prefers to stay in a hotel in Park Slope due to ease of getting anywhere in NY and for the huge abundance of good places to dine. I chose this place because it seemed different from some of the other local places. I believe I picked a winner. I arrived 1st, and there was no one in the restaurant at first. The chefs called someone, and the evening began with the hostess, waiter, and customer service person Katie, who was the tip of our great dining experience. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and perfect hostess. I felt her friendliness, and she took it to a higher level. I wanted to play a joke on my managers arrival, and she went along with it. He arrived, and we had a good laugh. After we sat down, I asked, and she gave me her suggestions on appetizers and main meals. I went with both and was not disappointed. I usually don't eat everything, but last night was different. I ate everything. I saw they had 4 choices of Uruguaian wine, amongst and nice selection of wines from different Spanish regions. She described the characteristics of each wine. We decided to go with the Tannat Akardia. We enjoyed the wine very much and even thought it matched with the pulpo (octopus) we had as an appetizer. We also ordered the shaved Brussels sprouts as an appetizer. We we very pleased at both. For dinner, we got the swordfish and the Pato (duck), both of which Katie recommended, and we enjoyed. Normally, we never have dessert, but with Katie's personality, we could not resist and had the bread pudding. We had a very nice dining experience here, and my manager even made a note on returning to dine again! The glue to pur experience was truly Katie for her professionalism and her wonderful personality!!!
Very lovely, intimate setting and their prix fixe menu pricing is incredibly reasonable ($46 for an app, entree, and dessert). Incredibly nice staff as well! The food is overseasoned a bit (anticuchos and Baja fish tacos). Makes it seem like they tried a little too hard to make the dishes interesting instead of just letting the flavors speak for themselves.
Not what I expected but definitely exceeded expectations is the best way to describe Pablo Santo. Everything felt right. A must try and bring good company it’s all worth it ! MUST TRY - Heart of Palm Salad -Grilled Octopus -Shrimp. Mofongo -Slow Cooked Pork w/ pineapple -Coconut Tres Leche -Chocolate Pecan Bread
Came to Palo Santo for a boozy brunch with friends over the weekend. The food was OK- not my favorite brunch spot but the steak with eggs was pretty good although I did not like the chimuchurri. Some of the food was a bir spicy. Gave it a 5 ⭐️ because of the good service and atmosphere. The ambiance is nice and the neighborhood is also very pretty for s walk after food. The waiter was very kind and changed our food after they got the order wrong and gave us a round of drinks even though we were close to the time limit. Might not come again because I thought it was slightly expensive!
I recommend making a reservation for brunch if you have 6 people or more. Luckily we only waited for 10 mins. They have tables outside on the sidewalk and the courtyard. A couple of tables inside. If you use a credit card, there's a small fee (stated on the menu), which I'm surprised to see. So it's $21 for all the brunch dishes, which comes with a choice of non alcoholic drinks. I ordered the pupusa dish and it was really good, but it was small. They give you two palm size pieces with beans, guacamole, and slaw. I was still hungry afterwards. My friends that ordered the egg dishes are filling. Another friend ordered the french toast and it was pretty big, but her husband got the fish and grits and that was really small. Also doesn't seem like there's a free refill for coffee since they never offered. So the conclusion is that my dish wasn't worth it, since I had to go somewhere else to fill up my poor stomach.
The outdoor patio is very cute. The food was great but the service was a bit slow and there were a few mixups with food and bills. We had the avocado dish which was simple but very delicious. I had the heart of palms as my main and it was wonderful. I was disappointed with the sangria, the portion was tiny.
We wanted to try out Palo Santo for a while and glad that we finally came by for brunch. The vibe inside is very nice, a simple but cute place. The meal did leave me wanting more - the chilaquiles were underwhelming and tasted nothing like the typical dish (was missing mole which was one of the ingredients on the menu). The chicken also tasted a bit old and dry. I don’t think I’ll come back again but I still think you should stop by if you’ve been wanting to try this place out.
This place is cute if your into not seeing your food before you eat it. Very loud and dark. Creepy bathroom that literally had no light. The fish was like cardboard. The pork and chicken is good as well as the sides. Drinks were good. This is a hole in wall stone interior. Parking is horrendous and we were harassed by a patron of the weed store on the block walking to the establishment. Yes I said weed store. What used to be a beautiful upper crust brown stone neighborhood is now turning into a scary place. the service was excellent. Staff on point and alert. Dessert was excellent too.
We’ve been unlucky to come for st valentines dinner when they had only prefix menu for 175$ with no good choices to eat. We would better to leave after discovering that the food options were very limited but my boyfriend just the nicest guy ever said he just gonna have a glass of wine and pay that bill which came to 280$ As a main dish we had to choose between mushrooms, lobster, white fish and questionable cut of ribeye. We did not wanted none of these. Food was not tasty. We sent back the steak which came rare and with dry yucca (bad match). My ceviche was just like a spoon size appetizer. We left disappointed. I believe their main menu is much better but we not going back.
