Sapporo Ichiban Brooklyn Reviews
As a sushi lover, after eating my chirashi bowl delivery I’m upset I haven’t tried this place sooner. Wow it was generous: a real chirashi bowl with LOTS of fish and variety, including o-toro and mackerel. Excellent value and taste. Super fresh. Please keep it up. This was amazing and will be my go-to for sushi cravings. Worth the delivery, which was fast. Bondi, samurai mama, ten-ichi, and mizu have nothing on this joint. It IS a more expensive bowl, comparatively, but for what it is, a very satisfying meal.
Absolutely love Sapporo Ichiban. The food is consistently fresh, beautifully presented, and thoughtfully prepared. The atmosphere is calm, cozy, and welcoming — perfect for a relaxed dinner where you can actually enjoy your conversation. And the Valentine Roll is outstanding. The balance of flavors and textures is spot on, with incredibly fresh fish and just the right touch of sauce. It’s as beautiful as it is delicious. Honestly, this is the only sushi spot I go to — specifically because of the Valentine Roll. It keeps me coming back every time. You can really tell they care about quality and detail. Always such a lovely experience.
I have been coming to this fabulous sushi restaurant for over 20 years. The freshest fish, the best and biggest portions in the creativity of the sushi chef is unmatched.

Haven't been there in years! Always a Terrific experience for indulgence par excellence. The freshest, tastiest fish and extras to start... So glad it's still available for more culinary adventures in the very near future... Who can't resist the complimentary Sake, hot, perfect temperature, naturally so...
I absolutely love this place! It’s my must-visit spot every time I’m in NYC. We ordered fresh oysters, miso soup, a salad with ginger dressing, shrimp tempura, the Love Boat, a tuna roll, and a salmon roll — everything was fantastic. The oysters and sashimi were incredibly fresh, and the ginger dressing added a bright, refreshing touch that perfectly complemented the meal. This restaurant never disappoints! Even my picky-eater kid couldn’t get enough of the shrimp tempura and miso soup. I also love the cozy atmosphere and the beautiful new decor — it makes the dining experience even better.
I had a really great experience at Sapporo Ichiban. The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly. The portion sizes were generous. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that makes it perfect for a casual meal. I’ll definitely be coming back and would recommend it to anyone looking for good Japanese food in the neighborhood.
★★★★★ Absolutely the best sushi in Greenpoint! Sapporo Ichiban is a true gem on New York’s culinary map! Located at the corner of Manhattan Ave and Nassau Ave, you can feel the special atmosphere as soon as you walk in. The owner, Franke, is passionate about his craft and takes great care of every customer, creating a warm and welcoming ambiance. The ingredients are always fresh, and the presentation is simply outstanding! Every piece of sushi is prepared to perfection, with flavors that blend harmoniously into a true feast for the senses. If you want to experience the authentic taste of sushi, you absolutely must visit Sapporo Ichiban. It’s a magical place that will keep you coming back for more!
The best sushi! It’s so fresh and the quality of the fish is always the best. They definitely don’t cheap out on the cuts, they’re huge! The service is amazing and they give free sake with a minimum purchase. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve gotten there and always make a point to go when I’m in town.
I ordered out from Sapporo Ichiban because I could not go out. Food came faster than I expected. I went to eat at the place long time ago and other than that I only got deliveries. About the quality of fishes, the price should be lower than this, but I understand the cost of living in Greenpoint, so I look over it. My order was..... - Shoyu Ramen: broth with braised pork belly, egg, shredded, wood-ear mushroom, bamboo shoots and fish cakes. 6/10 - Mixed Seafood Salad: Shrimp, Octopus, Squid, Kani with spring mix. 6/10 - Manhattan Roll: Spicy crunchy salmon roll, tuna, salmon and avocado on top. 6/10 - Tuna Jalapeno Roll: Small 8 pcs 8/10 - Bonzai Tree: Crab avocado, caviar, ebi wrapped with cucumber. 7/10 The score I gave are quality/price/and taste. I can say if you want to eat take out quality sushi in a budget, Sapporo will be another choice that isn't too bad.
Small restaurant but very cute. The food is good. The lunch specials are amazing and there are several choices. I had the Shrimp Teriyaki Combo which includes Miso soup, Salad, Rice, Roll and Shumai. It was very tasty. The service is ok. My only complaint is that after the meal was finished, the server didn't bother to ask if we would like dessert. We weren't going to get any but it is the norm to ask. Other than that, I enjoyed the experience.
I’ve been coming here over the last 6 years, sometimes have my business meet ups here. It was always an easy go spot- good lunch deals. However I was left pretty disappointed with an experience there. We chose this spot to celebrate my 13year old for his birthday, who loves sushi and wanted fried fish very cream for his birthday. We sat in the garden and ordered a bunch of rolls appetizers and an order of fried rice. Veggie fried rice. The fried rice came when the sushi was just about done, but one bite and it was soooo spicy none of my kids could eat it. I was confused because it’s just fried rice. Turns out it had jalepeños in it. Not a typical ingredients in fried rice and one I would’ve definitely flagged since I cannot eat jalapeños or any pepper for that matter. Not only do I have a nightshade sensitivity. I have a pollen allergy that limits me from eating most fruits. Again something I’ve been able to navigate very well for the past 20 years. When none of the fried rice was eaten on the waitress came over I said we cannot eat it this because it has jalapeños in it it’s really spicy. Can we just get the dessert menu?and her reply was well you should’ve told me beforehand “ i said, but it didn’t list that there was jalapeños. He brings over the menu and she points to small lettering that says list your allergies. And I said I get that and I have lots of allergies too much to list. Whether I’m very careful what I order and I’ve never had fried rice that was made with jalapeños, unless it was a specialty rice and it listed you guys should be listing this unusual ingredient. She replies well we can’t take it off the bill. So I reply I’m not paying for this She goes back I guess to speak to the manager and she comes back and she says well we’ll remake it for you At that point, I’m frustrated. I said I don’t want you to remake it and I don’t want dessert just cancel. I paid I tipped her. And I’m so turned off to go back to the space that are so incredibly petty. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry a long time. My husband is a chef and I’ve never. when I arrived at the restaurant and sat down, they were three other tables every table had carafes with lemon cucumber water and she brings us instead 5 cups of regular tapwater so I said can we have the cucumber lemon water everybody else has. It’s important to know we’re the only obvious Latino family there, everyone else being white and it’s hard to think that this wasn’t a race thing. I was most upset that we went here to celebrate my son’s 13th birthday and we didn’t even get to have dessert and sing happy birthday to him.
