Shawarma Mia Brooklyn Reviews
OBSESSED. This place was absolutely amazing! The food was next-level delicious—bold flavors, perfectly cooked, and honestly unforgettable. Every bite hit. I’ll 100% be coming back here very often. If you’re thinking about trying it, DO IT. Total gem!
Great food and huge portions. I ordered a shawarma mix bowl, and it was more like two meals. The meat, additional veggies, and tzatziki sauce make a great meal.
We had a wonderful time. The food was prepared fresh and fast. The lamb pita was delicious and stuffed with toppings! You will enjoy the friendly atmosphere and kind folks.
I just tried a lamb and beef shawarma wrap, and it was great! The lamb was tender and flavorful, wrapped in a soft wrap. The fresh vegetables and tasty sauce made it even better. It’s a delicious and quick meal that I really enjoyed. I can’t wait to eat it again!
Every time I go here, I'm pleasantly surprised how good it is. This spot has some of the best falafel -- always impossibly crispy outside, yet soft inside. All of the different sides / toppings are so good and flavorful also. This is my favorite falafel spot.
This is seriously the most delicious meal I’ve had in a while. I got the lamb and beef shawarma in a pita with pickled toppings like carrots onions and cucumbers, mouth watering good. The meat was sliced off right into the pita it was sooooo flavorful and juicy. Finished it all off w a Turkish delight. I will be a returning customer. Thank you to the wonderful staff as well such a cute spot.
Mama Mia! This place is phenomenal! Everything looks and tastes so fresh. I got a shawarma bowl and put probably 15 different toppings in it. The bowl was so big that it comfortably feeds two (a couple ahead of me got one bowl)! I like how the staff knew I couldn’t finish it and put two sets of utensils in my bag. Will definitely be back!
Shawarma Mia is the right place to satisfy your hunger, their prices are decent since they’re generous with their food. Would’ve given them a Five star but went ahead with four. Reason was while the meat and veggies are fresh, its not heated/grilled after its prepared to get rid of the excess fat and lamb/beef smell that often comes with it. Servers are friendly and always keep the place spotless. I noticed the Mexican guy that was sweeping silently left as i walked in to place my order. Kudos to him, that hardly happens in NYC, many just continue as you place the order.
The meat is of high quality but I wish they learn how to make a better pita sandwich. When I select three or so salads, they all at the bottom and I end up with 3/4 of the sandwich with not only just chicken but overflowing as one other reviewer said. A little more salad, a little less chicken, mixed in better. You are still my favorite, but it was better a few years ago.
Prices are on the higher side now (around $12.50 for a pita, $14.50 for a wrap or sub, and $16.50 for a bowl), so it’s not quite the budget-friendly shawarma stop it may have once been. Still, portions are decent and the quality of ingredients is clear. Also for a bowl, the total came out to $19.06. that is about 15.5% above the stated price. I paid with a credit card but even with a 4% credit card fee it doesn't really make any sense. I was in a bit of a hurry so I didn't get the receipt but should have been more careful about what the extra charge was for as I didn't get any extras. The food was pretty good.
Tried the lamb and beef bowl. Everything was fresh, and the service was friendly—no complaints there. First few bites? Solid. Flavorful, well-seasoned, promising start. Then… I just kinda stopped enjoying it. Maybe it was me, maybe it was the bowl, maybe it was the sauce overload (which I definitely should’ve asked for on the side). By the halfway mark, I was pushing food around more than eating it. That said, I can tell they use quality ingredients and care about presentation. If you’re into this style of food, it’s probably better than most spots doing the same thing. Just not totally for me.
