Taj Mahal Brooklyn Reviews
I’ve been coming here for the past few days, and I’m genuinely impressed every single time. The food tastes truly authentic — the kind of real Indian flavor that’s hard to find. The chicken is unbelievably tender, literally falling apart with each bite. The tikka masala is exceptional, and the butter chicken is just as incredible. This place has a special atmosphere, and I know I’ll be coming back again and again.
I come here a few times a week and it never disappoints! The food is absolutely delicious — the butter chicken is a must-try and easily one of the best I’ve ever had. The appetizers are amazing and full of flavor, and the service is always outstanding. Highly recommend this place if you love great Indian food and a welcoming atmosphere!
Love this place always good service the staff is helpful and always smiling so memories here and always been good ones it’s nice to see this place still going strong!
Everything on the menu is amazing and well curated. Good prices and amazing good all around. Samosas are a must have and can not be skipped, but be careful they are very filling! I got 3 entrees, a large pint of Indian beer, tea, mango lassi, and 2 deserts for $88 This place deserves more recognition 11/10
We had such a wonderful experience at Taj Mahal. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm smile and friendly service that made us feel right at home. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming—perfect for a family dinner or a casual night out. The food was absolutely delicious. Each dish was full of rich, authentic Indian flavors, and you could tell everything was made with love and care. The butter chicken was creamy and flavorful, the biryani was fragrant and perfectly spiced, and the naan was fresh out of the oven—soft and buttery. We also appreciated the vegetarian options, which were just as flavorful and satisfying. You can really taste the passion and tradition in every bite. It’s clear that this restaurant is run with heart, and we’re so proud to support a family friend who’s doing such an amazing job. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a genuine Indian dining experience!
Beautiful decor, servers were very attentive are glasses we’re never empty they continued to fill them which I loved! The chicken vindaloo was spicy but I loved it, we also got chicken tikka which was mild the chicken was tender and delicious. Garlic naan was huge and can be split between two people! At the end of the meal they gave us rice pudding All in all we had a great experience will definitely be back!
Love the food here. I dined here a few times pre-COVID and the dining experience was great. Service was timely and food was delicious. I could never finish the dish and LOVE having leftovers. Got takeout recently and saw they had 3 outdoor dining tables which were actually 6 feet away. Look at the spread of food *___*. I was surprised to see the chip (?) + 3 sauces as part of takeout, soup, and veggies!! SO MUCH rice. I love it. We had the aloo gobi matar and Chicken Shree Mangal
A true authentic Indian cuisine restaurant! I rarely ever try Indian cuisine, but after this restaurant, I will DEFINITELY come back for more. For one thing, the interior of this place is beautiful! It truly makes me feel as if I’m INSIDE the Taj Mahal. It adds onto the authentic vibe of the establishment. This establishment gave free Papad (bread) and free dipping sauces on the side in the beginning, and free Firni (rice pudding) at the end. They were both absolutely delicious. I ordered the Shahjahani Biryani and the Chicken Shree Mangal and they tasted really good. I really liked the Biryani and the curry chicken. The bill was extremely affordable as well, taking into account the amazing interior, the freebies, and how well the staff treated us. All in all, delicious food and great service
We had a really nice Mother's Day here, largely thanks to the wonderful service! The staff were so kind and treated us incredibly well. While the food was decent, I think a little extra "kick" would really elevate it. We did notice there was no air conditioning, but on a milder day, it might not be a big deal. Despite a couple of small things, the fantastic service made it a good experience.
Updating my original 5* Review because they have had a "GRADE PENDING" for quite awhile now😞 Very disappointing!! I hope they get their "A" back!! We will go back when they get the "A" rating again! Original Review: Have been coming here for years!! This is our FAVORITE Indian Restaurant by far!! DELICIOUS FOOD,, GREAT SERVICE, FRIENDLY STAFF!! Very cozy place!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! We're not Indian, so I don't know if it's AUTHENTIC, but it's GOOD!! (Seems authentic to us).
I tried this place twice and I can’t say it’s that great. I like the ambiance of the restaurant. It’s warm and it has Indian music playing. I could nitpick - like the chandeliers probably haven’t been cleaned in years, etc. However, the issue really is the food. My go-to for Indian is saag paneer. It’s a very dark green dish with little cheese cubes. At this place it’s light yellow/green with chunks of spinach. My son didn’t like his butter chicken and my wife didn’t like chicken tikka masala. In fact they debated which was which. The garlic naan seemed very dry. There seemed to be a general lack of flavor and spice.
Ordered a few dishes for delivery and they were bad. There’s no flavor to the dishes and lack any depth. For example, the chicken tikka biryani resembles a fried rice rather than the traditional simmered rice dish. There’s literally no flavor at all—where are the spices??, and I assume the dish is primarily getting its color from food dyes. I’m left very disappointed and won’t be ordering again. If you want Indian food it’s best to make the trip to Queens for authentic Indian food.
The food was OK. I’ve tried better. They made me wait one hour to get my pickup. I arrived and still waited half an hour in store. Was starving.
The banana pakora had mold, it was disgusting. Good thing I saw it before my son ate it. That’s very irresponsible for a restaurant. I’m not sure how they store their food for that to happen. The food wasn’t fresh so it was an upsetting experience and waste of money I should’ve just walked out after seeing the mold. This place used to be good but not anymore. However the waiter was pleasant but I will never come back!
09/12/23 - thought I would try again, to give another chance to a restaurant I used to frequent. Called for take out, and the person on the phone couldn't understand my order - it isn't like I was ordering in English. Indian dishes. After 10 minutes, I just said goodbye and ordered from Bombay. I would have rather had the food at Taj Majal, but if the person on the phone can't understand 2 standard items (nothing special order,) I cannot order from them. I walked by, and the restaurant is empty. Bombay isn't. There is a reason for this. Bombay will be here long after Taj Majal is gone, for bad service. _______________ I have been coming to take Mahal for over 2 years, one or two times a month. The food has always been good - usually very good. The service has always been good too. That isn't what happened today. The waiter took the order. After that, we never saw the waiter again. The guy who delivered food, etc, was young and didn't speak English. I got meat samosas, chicken vindaloo, and mughlai paratha. My friend who came with me recently had eaten, and ordered a soup to go, which the waiter said to ask for it before leaving. Papadom and the three chutneys that are usually brought to the table came.
