Twist Brooklyn Reviews
Nicest people, parking is super easy, seafood is as fresh as it gets. Beer selection for days! The interior design and art on walls is very sophisticated. Highly recommended! Thank me later.
Just arrived in town and walked to Twist from our hotel. Great service, and the $buck happy hour oysters, cold beer and fried shrimp were awwsome.
I had a very good experience and the service was fast. The waiters were very nice and it was my birthday and they brought me a cheese cake and I had fun. Looking to come back and it's very clean.
Second time here! Excellent restaurant, fresh food, clean utensils, lovely staff, the smile is always on their faces, it takes only 10 min to receive the order! I definitely recommend it to people.
Really clean restaurant and great service. They have a fish supplier in the back so the seafood is very fresh. Sauce is thicker but they can give you extra sauce on the side for dipping.
Good was delicious, drinks were good. Very chill place. Service was GREAT! More than 1 server checking in on us making sure everything was ok. Will definitely go back!
This is my absolute favorite seafood spot in NYC. The restaurant is small and quaint but the food is the freshest by a mile. I stop here about once a month and will continue to do so. Thank you Twist!
The food was well cooked. Happy hour was very fun. The servers were prompt, cheerful, and anticipated our needs. Really couldn't be better.
King Crab Legs, Head on Shrimp & Escargot - fantastic! No frills, great food with great service at a reasonable price. Definitely will be back for the food.
Came one day after work in the afternoon with coworkers to try out the place. I love it that they have separate outdoor seating for each party. They have a heater over the table. The garlic bread that came with the seafood was to die for. We had chicken wings, calamari, French fries and sweet potato fries as appetizers. The wings and calamari are very good. I had the king crab legs by the pound with the super spicy sauce. I enjoyed it thoroughly but I did not feel the sauce is spicy at all (p.s. I have very high tolerance to spices). My coworkers had a couple of margaritas but claimed that the drinks were not the best. The waitress was very accommodating and made them new drinks voluntarily. I do not drink, so the my review of the place is not affected but the quality of their drinks. I would dine here again.
Omg!!! The best seafood restaurant in Brooklyn. Everything was so delicious. My sisters and I went there and we order some fried shrimp, oysters, and shrimp cocktail for appetizers. Everything was so good. Then we order the snow crab tray, omg it was so delicious. Me and my sisters absolutely loved it. The spicy sauce was so delicious in the snow crab tray. Servers were very attentive.
Celebrated my mom’s 80th birthday there. The food was delicious, she had crab legs and Shrimps, which was delicious!! I had all shrimp just as good. Their garlic toast is to die for!! Plus the service was AWESOME as well. Very clean place a HIDDEN GEM! The atmosphere is also nice. Will be going back again!!
The food was delicious and not crazy expensive, service was ok, it’s a nice place in the neighborhood to get good seafood, and the happy hour deal was really good with $1 oysters and 50% discount on second drink, including cocktails. Definitely will be back.
My boyfriend and I discovered this place on a whim and boy are we happy!! Reservations are easy to make and service is always fast! Drinks are strong and the food is excellent each time! We come here about 2-3 times a month, it’s THAT good! Wish I could give 10 stars!!
Best crab boil experience I've had in NYC. The prices are amazing. I got king crab legs and shrimp, and my date got snow crab legs. It was completely delicious, and I loved that they cut open the king crab for me, which made it way easier to eat. Love this place! Also wanted to add (July 2020) that during COVID we have ordered from Twist twice for delivery, and it has been some of the best packaged, most delicious delivery we've gotten during quarantine. They are killing it!
I ordered lobster rolls and fries for delivery and they were delicious! I was hesitant to have seafood delivered but they exceeded my expectations. It tasted fresh and I loved the dressing on the lobster roll. Would definitely come back to try more of the seafood!
As a crab lover whether it be a boil or plain, Twist is by far the best in terms of freshness, quality, and flavor. Their sauces beat out any of the competition! For starters, they bring you garlic bread for the table. It comes in handy to sop up the tasty sauce that your boil comes in. What I appreciate about their sauce is they put just enough in the bag to cover each nook and cranny of the items inside, but not too much where you feel like your fishing for your catch. Their oysters are always fresh as well. Leave room forcon of their tasty cocktails and you will leave with a bit of a "Twist". Enjoy!
we just had the most delicious and fresh seafood in a long time at Twist. Even our 3 year old loved it and said the king prawns, crawfish, lobster roll and calamari were yummy! so glad we discovered Twist, highly recommend!
Was really impressed by this place! The seafood was very good and the spicy sauce had a ton of flavor. The prices are very reasonable and the menu has a lot of great options. Would definitely recommend!
The food here is amazing. I have had their food on uber eats and it was really delicious and flavorful. I went there last night for dine and and it was an even better experience. The staff is so attentive and polite but the seafood is literally AMAZING!! its sooo good and the spicy twist sauce is to die for!!! I cant wait to go back!
$1 oysters and clams weekdays 3pm-6pm. The boils are delicious. Their combo boils are delicious! We got the snow crab legs (1lb) and shrimp (1/2lb) combo it comes with garlic bread corn and potatoes . Which is amazing because most places charge extra for sides. My partner and I can not get enough of this place.
Delicious lobster rolls!! Will return to try other items on the menu. Thank you!
Always delicious. I’ve gotten both types of crabs and the lobster boils (original sauce) on all separate occasions and every time the food was on point and service was phenomenal. For the boils you can choose three or four sauces one of them is a butter sauce but I usually go for the original they say it’s spicy but in my opinion it could be spicier but some may find it really spicy. They give you a bib and plastic gloves so you don’t make a mess on yourself. lol One of my favorite seafood places. Also tried the fried shrimp which were sooooooo fresh and crunchy. And among the regular dishes I have tried the shrimp linguine in the butter sauce it was just as expected.
Fresh seafood. Their sauce is LEGIT GOOD- medium twist spicy. Been here every month - never regretted it.
I really enjoyed the seafood boil at Twist, very well seasoned. The service by the workers was top tier. They suggested what to eat, always made sure we had what we needed like utensils and napkins, and just attentive as a whole. New favorite spot :)
This place is great! The seafood is very fresh, and delicious. I tried the calamari, shrimp seafood boil, and the fried fish sandwich. All were great! The prices and portion sizes were good. They provide plastic gloves and bibs for the seafood boils. The restaurant is cute and clean, and the service was amazing. I definitely recommend checking this place out, if you're in the area!
went there on a non busy night it was raining, we were the only ones there. the service was great, very attentive, gave us a better option because it was only the 2 of us, instead of allowing us to get the more expensive option and making more money. oysters was amazing, wasn’t sandy. lobster rolls also was perfect, piece of lettuce in between gave it some crunch and texture. seafood boil was good but probably could improve a little bit on the butter sauce. other than that this place was great, will be coming back!
Dishes brought out at different times. It was a bit awkward while friends soup sat there and got cold while waiting 10 minutes for my soup to arrive. Overall all dishes were tasty (fried shrimp, fish & chips). We wanted fresh seafood but there's a very strong & pungent fishy smell in the restaurant which isn't a good sign regarding freshness. Won't go back.
First time here. The staff was very friendly, helpful and concerned that we were ok and had everything we needed. My husband and I thought the raw oysters were amazing!!! The fried calamari was great, too! We had the crab legs and shrimp boil. We don't cook with a lot of salt, so the shrimp seemed extra salty but seafood boils tend to lean on the salty side. All of the seafood tasted so fresh!!! We, thoroughly, enjoyed our dinner! Thank you! We will, definitely, be back soon!!!
Great seafood spot in Brooklyn. Come hungry and bring friends - everything was fresh and very well prepared. We had started off with both raw and cooked oysters - So Good! That was followed with a snow crab tray, and the Twist spicy sauce was great. You’re gonna want some bread, rice or pasta to mop up all that goodness. The restaurant itself is kept very clean, and that is a big deal to me. Definitely the place to go with a group that wants to eat fresh seafood and have a great time. I’ve had the lobster rolls on a previous visit and that was also top notch, maybe I’ll see if they can put some of that spicy sauce on that to “kick it up a notch”. I’ll be back!!!
We came across the Twist Seafood by accident and decided to give it a try. The atmosphere of the dining room was refreshing, bright, clean and sleek. The staff were friendly and provided excellent service. This list of draft and bottled beers was amazing. We ordered a fried calamari appetizer to share. It was delivered to the table in a basket. It was hot, very well-seasoned and cooked perfectly. We shared the steamed seafood combo with 1 whole lobster, snow crab clusters and head on shrimp. It was cooked in medium hot sauce. The seafood was all amazingly fresh and cooked to perfection. It was a great experience and we will be returning soon.
Casual dining, excellent service, fresh and well prepared seafood. The only negative for us was that we over ordered. My husband and I each ordered a pound of shrimp in medium spicy sauce and could easily have shared one order, with a full dinner to take home. The sauce had a slightly cajun flavor and complimented the shrimp perfectly. The potatoes and corn that were also served in the sauce were perfect. And the complimentary garlic bread provided good dipping.
Fantastic lobster roll lunch with my wife. Twist has perfected the lobster roll: fresh and generous portioned lobster, lightly dressed (not drowning in mayo) & lightly buttered and toasted bun. Very nice staff and comfortable seating. Thanks Twist!
Excelent quality and menu variety. Friendly wait staff. Quiet and clean. Fast service too.
The food was amazing 10/10 would recommend the garlic bread probably better than the main meal
Love this place ! I always go with my boyfriend and the sea boil always hits the spot . Have came to this place for 3 years now and have never ever had a bad experience. Service always outstanding .
The menu offers consistently delicious options. Their employees deliver consistently great attention. i would give this restaurant the highest possible rating and more. Their plates provide excellent value. I would recommend!
This place is SO good. We’ve been more than 5 times and each time we spend the meal muttering how good it is to eachother in between bites. The sauce is rich and the seafood fresh. The price isn’t bad either
Twist in Brooklyn was AMAZING! We got the crab leg clusters (which come with corn, potatoes, and garlic bread) and YOOOO the sauce was unreal. It was this creamy, slightly spicy, slightly sweet sauce that honestly reminded me of a Thai-inspired flavor. One of the best seafood boil sauces we’ve ever had. The drinks were sooo good too, and the French fries were perfectly crisp. Everything hit! Highly recommend this spot.
If I lived in this part of Brooklyn I would be here all the time. The seafood boil was incredibly fresh, absolutely worth it for the price, and the staff was very attentive. We went during happy hour and got 2 cocktails and one head-on jumbo shrimp combo with clams each. I can’t reccomend it enough. It’s a small and cozy interior that started out empty when we arrived around 6 but got busy fast. The quality of the shrimp and clams was fantastic.
Been going here since 2021. One of my favorite seafood boil places in brooklyn. Affordable, good size and quick service! No complaints except I wish they would bring back their outdoor seating from the pandemic days. But outside of that it’s great!
Highly recommend it!!! The food was excellent. The service was great. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Everything was so good that I forgot to take some of the pictures. The service was on point and highly attentive. If you like seafood, this is the place to go. Everything was very fresh, including the salad. The place was completely clean. I would definitely go back. There are plenty of municipal parking spots across the street.
My fiancé and I love this restaurant ❤️ I almost don’t want to review it because I want to keep it to myself. The seafood boil: whole lobster with headless shrimp in garlic butter sauce + corn and potatoes is perfection. I appreciate all the tools especially the scissors! You get all the gloves your heart can desire. If you love Claw Daddy’s and The Boil and similar establishments but you don’t want the wait, go here.
Excellent seafood. Everything was really good and really fresh. The twisty sauce is a bit spicy even on the medium version. The crab tastes so much better than many other places. The shrimp were really plump. The fried fish were crisp and also very good. The garlic butter sauce is also a must try. I would definitely come here regularly.
May May, our server was so sweet. We sat outside due to covid, she kept checking on us. We love fish and all our meals were good. Easy parking.
Food was good, fresh. Had fried oysters very fresh however did not seemed seasoned. Also had fried chicken wings, very good flavor. Had some spice to it but tolerable. We also had the deluxe seafood with linguine white sauce. Very good lots of the cuttlefish in this dish. This was my first time having cuttlefish, I had to google it before I ate it. Not bad, no distinctive flavor, high in protein. Drinks were pretty good. Lots of cocktail varieties. I would visit this place again.
Food was good thats what saved it . We ate in the outdoor section and quite frankly , I was very disappointed. All the plants were dead and there were flies everywhere, the floor was dirty and the chairs weren't comfortable. There was no atmosphere. It should be 3 stars but its a pandemic and the waiter was very nice and the food was tasty.
I must say that they definately have fresh seafood. The medium spicy sauce on my order was plenty spicy and I liked it. Oysters were fresh. We did outdoor dining and it was cool that they separated the area and provided heaters and music outside.
Great seafood! Not too expensive.
Here’s the twist… it’s not an Italian seafood restaurant. It’s Chinese style seafood. And the food wasn’t bad at all. I wish that I had taken pictures of all the dishes I had ordered. Everything was nicely packaged and fresh looking. They even serve Asian style spaghetti and meatballs. If I ever go back, I will take pictures and show everyone. 🌝
First time here. I was looking for something different for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. I live in Brooklyn so obviously I wanted to support the local community. I went online looking for restaurants and this caught my eye being it a seafood place. The reviews were good and so I came here to try it out. Location was easy to find and parking was ample maybe being it was Sunday?? Anyways I ordered the Snow Crab combo which consists of, you guessed it, snow crab legs, mussels, shrimp, clams crayfish and other vegetables. The only thing I find interesting is you get to choose 6 sides but ony 4 were available. So I had to chose 3 sides twice. Ok let's do e into the main course. Taste wise it was flavorful. The sauce was a little too strong for me. It was spicy almost curry like. I prefer my seafood doused in butter and garlic which it just great. Amount wise it was enough for 4 people. I was disappointed in the crayfish which I think is just there as eye candy. Not much meat. The shrimp was juicy and succulent and clams were plump. Atmosphere wise it was so so like your regular diner without the bells and whistles. I would recommend it if you are looking foe something different besides Italian and continental for brunch.
If you’re looking for a cozy place, chill atmosphere and a nice service. This can be your place to start into the seafood! I came alone and it was my first time trying this kind of food, I tried the shrimp linguine ultimate with white wine sauce. I’ll definitely come back someday and try a different dish! :)
Went on a Sunday night with a friend to try out their grand opening special! I got crab legs and added shrimp and my friend just ordered shrimp. The seafood was fresh and their twist sauce was great. It’s just like any other boil where you can pick you sauce and how spicy you want it. I opted for a mild spice and it was good enough for me. They also bring you utensils for the crab legs which makes life so much easier. To start they bring you out garlic bread (which was delicious) and we order calamari as an appetizer. All the food came out quick! And the servers were attentive. They only have beer but they may be byob (id call and confirm). Otherwise they had sodas and water to offer. I will be returning any time I’m in Brooklyn!
I might have normally given a restaurant like this a slightly better rating, but seeing has how this is listed as a 4.6 star restaurant it made me want to rate it possibly lower as it was disappointing based on expecting something much better. The food was fine I guess, but I would say its more of just a diner. Very average at best.
Food was decent. Just a basic seafood boil. Nothing spectacular, there are better places. I requested a virgin drink but they gave me a drink with alcohol in it. Service was also very slow.
This place was clean and the staff was friendly and attentive. I went here for my mom's Bday based on the reviews having big expectations. However, my mom and I were dissapointed as the seafood fell short of our expectations. We were fooled by the reviews. The seafood was just steamed and their twist sauce didn't add any flavor to the seafood. It was very bland and the Fried Calamari was chewy although served hot. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't worth the trip or the money for me. I do not think I would go back here. I can think of a few places in Park Slope with better Seafood. The Shakin Crab for starters has a few points on this place for flavor.
Mother's day would of been nice if they didn't take so long to serve. I had a take out once and it was perfectly fine, but went in for lunch and we sat there for more than 2 hours to get a 5 piece calamari, bread and soda. Some items came 1 by 1, about 20mnts apart from each other, it took too long to serve and there was only 7 tables in the restaurant. Our waitress disappeared and had to ask everyone else about our food. They need to get more organized to bring the food out on time or all together so that everyone can eat at the same time. I understand it was a busy day, but there was plenty of orders going out for delivery and not for the guest inside the restaurant. Can't Say there wasn't enough staff because there were about 8 of them for 5 tables and every time an order came out, they were confused on were the order was going.
I ordered a shrimp boil w head off but the sauce was some type of cream based sauce that was not creamy? I kept asking if the shrimp was farm raised or from the ocean, they didn’t know. Does anyone know? The shrimp was good, I wish I had a better sauce option Also they cut a small corn in four, they should just leave it whole
I wanted to love this place! Traveled to give it a try yet didn’t meet the quality I was desiring or close to other lobster rolls I’ve had in Brooklyn/New York or overall. It definitely looks better than it tastes; this is my own personal opinion. Also, quality and price don’t seem to match. I would give it a try though if you’re in the area. Thank you, Twist!
Definitely better the first two times I came around, this time the clams was not too fresh and the sauce was a bit bland. Needed a lil bit extra seasoning or something was missing. Garlic bread was still good, ambiance was just as good, and very calming background music. Service was attentive, we were taken good care of and the bathroom is spacious and smells good.
Had dinner with my guy there. It took long to receive our food and when it came, it was in parts. At the end of MY meal, my guy had no food. We had to wait again. Just found my love for oysters which was the reason for the visit. Their oysters were the worst. Too large to be real and to enjoy. Didnt taste right; My guys mussels were tough. Their fried shrip were delicious. French fries would of been too but mine were old. Saw some fresh ones at the table next to me. Oysters are a dollar on happy hour. You get what you pay for.....
I debated if I should give this place 1 or 2 stars, i decided to give it two simply because the staff is really polite and nice. They mean well, but they have so far to go. Our waitress didn’t know her menu well, and didn’t seem knowledgeable about the choices. She was very sweet and so was the rest of the staff. Unfortunately, this is about the only positive thing I can say. The restaurant is rather small, and the outside seating does not look inviting. I think the outside is more roomy, but that’s about it. Talk about no frills dining. Now for the food, i guess the value was ok, but that’s the best I can say. I have been to MANY MANY MANY seafood boils (Atlantic Avenue, Park Slope and Lower Manhattan) in NYC and this place was by far the least favorite. Their “special” sauce had nothing special about it. It lacked FLAVOR, which they try to compensate for by making it spicy. The consistency of the sauce was runny and milky. Just when i thought maybe it was me, or my dish, i tried my friends dish which had the garlic butter....i think. I could not find any garlic or butter on her dish. I didn’t think it could get any more flavorless than my orange milk, but i was wrong. For a minute i thought I came down with something, and had lost my sense of taste......in the middle of this meal. Have these folks ever heard of BUTTER, GARLIC, or LEMON, or hell even SALT?? Water has more flavor than my meal did. The garlic bread was about the most flavorful thing on our table, and they even managed to mess that up by serving it slightly burnt. I was really hopeful to have found a hidden gem in Brooklyn for seafood boil, but instead i left disappointed and dissatisfied. Good luck to them, they seemed to have a number of customers. I don’t know these customers just never had better, or don’t know any better. Would love to have polled then to see how many were “returning” customers. I’ll continue traveling to Other spots in New York for my seafood.
Um...very underwhelming. I went in with some friends and we started out with drinks and oysters. The oysters were not that good. They weren't old or anything but just not that great. I ordered a frozen Pina Colada and I couldn't drink it because there were larger chunks of ice in the mix so I could only get half a sip and then I would have to wait, stir, and do it all again. In the end, we ended up leaving without trying their boils. It just didn't seem worth it based on the price and the subpar experience up to that point. There are sooooo many places that offer a good boil and some decent oysters, with better price ranges. Sorry to say I probably will not be trying to place again.
The crawfish is not fresh, tasted bitter and has bad smell, couldn’t eat and returned it to the shop. They didn’t check the food but responded that it’s because we are not used to crawfish, I had many times, it’s clear that the meat of it already not firm. At the end they agreed to exchange other seafood for this order, appreciate that. Apparently they don’t worry about the quality of the ingredients, didn’t check and ask more. Just won’t order here again.
Food was okay, snow crab legs were pretty empty. However, the servers let us in before closing after we asked if it was okay but then proceeded to watch us eat and rush everything off our table as soon as we finished a plate, they also locked the doors when we got close to the end of our meal. Not sure if they thought we were going to dine and dash because we’re black but it definitely threw us off. Food was okay won’t be back though.
Thought I’ll give this place a try since it’s close to Costco. Overall decent. The Happy Hour entice me. $4 dollar domestic beer and $1.25 each oyster/clam. I order the half dz clam & half dz oyster to start, good both fresh. Main dish was seafood pasta deluxe, nothing special they could’ve taken out the beak from the little squid which I had to spit out. Here’s the real issue. I want to order another round of clam and oyster but was told they ran out of clams at 4pm, one hour into the happy hours? Come on! I know you need to make a profit but don’t penny pinch. I really want to support this business but conflicted. How do you expect return customers when you pull stunts like that? Now whenever someone ask about this place I’ll tell them about not honoring your advertisement.
I never leave reviews but I have to warn people. I got Vibrio from their oysters and have been ill for 3 days. I’ve had oysters many times before and never had this experience. Do not eat their oysters, you will end up in the hospital.
This place looks nice. Their service kinda socks. They are real polite but get nothing right. I waited a whole hour after ordering to find out that they didn't have what I ordered and she had already taken my money for. Food is really great, just be sure to order the day before thats how slow the service is.
So on 08/20/2022 I ordered food from here using DoorDash. I’ve done this with this restaurant plenty of times, as well as eaten at this location plenty times. From when they first opened I was eating here at this establishment and the food and portions were always amazing! Down to the garlic bread. However, with the understanding of prices rising everywhere’ at the VERY LEAST I would’ve expected same quality or higher with the prices going up. Not only have their prices sky rocketed tremendously’ now for the crab legs boil they give you half the portion of crab legs. When they first opened you were getting minimum 1 1/2 clusters of crab legs or even 2 clusters. Now they make you pick one or two clusters’ and if you make it 2 it’s an additional almost $30! My one order of clusters had FOUR snow crab legs in it. I paid almost $70 the other night on DoorDash for a boil that was so empty. my bag literally felt empty when it arrived. That’s how small their portions are now. I think it’s just time to find a new spot. If they can improve their quantity and quality for the price I’m okay! But they’re going downhill in my opinion!
I never write reviews but thought that it was necessary to warn everyone about this place. Dined in for lunch today. Ordered the ultimate seafood linguini. The mussels and clams felt very undercooked, also felt like there was still sand in them. An hour after dining in I started puking and have been sick ever since. This was the only meal I’ve had all day so there couldn’t be anything else that could’ve caused this. For the price it seems ridiculous that the seafood can’t even be properly cooked. Tread lightly as it seems I am not the only one who has experienced food poisoning at this restaurant.
