It was a very pleasant lunch with family and a friend. I had the Mango chicken. It was very good. The corn was wonderful. T h e service was very good and the gift shop too tempting.

Delicious lunch in a classy atmosphere at affordable prices. After lunch, you can shop for gifts, planta or something for yourself in a beautiful gift shop. Best of all, you will be supporting the Brookwood community . Reservations are definitely recommended.

This is a wonderful place to enjoy an outing and good quality lunch (including gluten-free), one of the finer places in our area actually. The Brookwood Community is a special place and we visit here year-round for gifts, art, household linens, clothing, and especially house and garden plants!

What an amazing place. Too few people know about this wonderful place. The food is delicious and the decor is so nice. And the staff is just the best. Amazing little gift shop adjacent to it as well. I've eaten at The Cafe a number of times, always enjoyed the food and service. First time during covid wasn't sure what to expect. Not disappointed. Called and made a reservation. Social distancing. Limited menu which is only expected and also have a special of the day. There were three of us all chose different entrees. The presentation of the food was wonderful, food was hot and plates were cleaned. Staff always professional and friendly. We will be back.

First off, the food is delicious and presented beautifully. Prices are extremely reasonable, as you have table clothes in a lovely dining room. The service is very special, that sometimes you will have a citizen of Brookwood be your server or assistant. The whole experience is uplifting and heartwarming and tummy pleasing.

The plants available for sale are so healthy and beautiful they don't even look like the ones I have at home! The grounds are very pretty to walk around as well. The food was delicious! Working in Special Education I really admired the mission of the Community, and the training it provides to the residents.

Always a pleasant place to dine. Fresh delicious entrees and key lime pie is out of this world. The wait staff and their assistants work well together. The gardens are breathtaking. And u don't want to miss their gift shop. All proceeds go to help the citizens who live and work at brookwood.

Stopped here on a road trip to San Antonio and WOW. The food was amazing and the service was equally as great. I had the fall salad, the two other women with me had the coconut shrimp salad and the finger sandwich trio. Trying to figure out when we can trek out here again sometime soon...so good!

We arrived to a seemingly upscale cafe. It was so pleasant and the service was absolutely amazing! We ordered their special for the day which was a chicken Alfredo. It was wonderful, full of flavor and that classic homemade Alfredo feelz! Totz going back with my grandmother and mom. They have a wonderful gift shop and the best part is, both the cafe and gift shop are Christian none profit.

I recently went to a luncheon event with a guest speaker in the Cafe. It was absolutely delightful except that I do not eat mayonnaise and they served chicken salad sandwiches along with a fabulous small salad, rolls and a huge piece of carrot cake and their delicious iced tea.To my surprise, they were so eager to make me happy and prepared a regular grilled chicken sandwich which was delicious. Always so pleasant and helpful, I have been here many times and have never been disappointed.

This was our second visit to Brookwood from central Kentucky today. Last visit was pre-Covid. The food was absolutely fantastic 10/10. The gift shop was an absolute treasure trove and the greenhouse was full of gorgeous plants. We will definitely return on our next visit to Texas and I will be ordering Christmas presents using their online site.

Everything about this place is a pleasure. The space itself is wonderful - airy and open, with beautiful views out into the garden. The menu is excellent, whether you're coming for lunch or just dessert and coffee. Before or after you visit the cafe, there's plenty more to do in the form of walking round the beautiful shop, strolling in the garden, or visiting the one greenhouse open to the public (make sure you have plenty of room in the car for all the plants you want to buy!) The reservations staff are wonderful; every time I've dealt with them they've been accommodating and friendly in every way. And of course the bottom line is that the Brookwood Community is supporting its differently abled citizens by helping them learn useful skills, including making many of the items in the shop and serving in the cafe. You'll enjoy your visit and want to return :)

We shared a wonderful meal yesterday, 11/06/19, a birthday celebration of 6. We live over an hour away and worth the drive. What a gift from the heart to give for Christmas or Birthday. I'm planning another Birthday event in December. The decor and shopping is wonderful and proceeds go to a great cause. My uncle has been a resident since it opened, so I'll admit I'm a bit biased on this one. If you're looking for heart, this is the place you want to be. Highly encourage anyone to look up what Brookwood is, what they provide for their residents, and even look into volunteer work. If you're having an off day, or even a bad one, head over there for a certain smile!! That being said, the food could use some work. Service is awesome though. Please go!

I forgot to leave a review earlier in the week but this place is great! I went for the first time last Friday with a few friends and had a great experience. My friends had told me nothing but good things about the place so I had high hopes and was not disappointed! Our server Yesina was phenomenal!! She knew the menu very well had great suggestions and service. She handled a lot of tables on her own and not once did she forget about us or make us feel rushed she even stopped to have genuine conversations with us. If you go try and get her as your server and you won’t regret it, this young lady has a good head on her shoulders!The food was good and so was their Mint Tea. My only complaint was the desserts. We each got one of the desserts they had and all of them were some type of cake that just didn’t taste fresh and good. The dessert options were underwhelming compared to their Menu and I just expected better quality desserts. Overall I had a wonderful time, support their mission and will be going back!

I was told to try this place and that it wouldn't be sorry. It did not disappoint at all. The service was amazing. Attentive,polite and very friendly. The menu had a good variety of options. I picked the avocado BLT. I was surprised by how much avocado there was on the sandwich. It was past one so I was pretty hungry. I thought it might not be enough but it was very filling and very tasty. The mint lemonade, I think, was very delicious. I was tempted by the dessert cart and gave in to the carrot cake. It was good as well but a little small for my liking. Not enough to deter anyone by any means. I will go back to try some other things. The attached gift shop was fun to browse through as well.

We dined at the Cafe at Brookwood after shopping in the garden area and gift shop. The Cafe looks out to the beautiful garden area. The food was amazing and the service was even better! The Oreo cheesecake was delicious. Every employee we encountered at the Cafe was very friendly. It was such a great experience and we will be coming back!

Brookwood is a wonderful place to come in for lunch or dinner. The atmosphere is a bit formal for my normal haunts, however the food and service put other establishments to shame. Perfect for a nice change of pace and I simply can’t say enough to recommend this place enough.

This is one of my favorite places to eat although there is not a variety to pick from since I am a vegetarian. There are two dishes on the menu that I always order. They do have a variety of salads that you can order without the meat. The food is good and you get large portions. Nice clean atmosphere and they are friendly.

Took my wife here for Saturday brunch. Nice place. They were doing fall fest. Lots of vendors and shops. The brunch was a buffet style with chicken, chicken fried steak, yams, green beans, brussel sprouts, fresh rolls and honey butter. They also had a butternut squash soup my wife enjoyed and a nice salad. Drinks were iced tea or water. For dessert beignets or a peach crumble/cobbler. All was good. The servers were nice and helpful. We will be back.

I love this place at Christmas. It just feels like a special celebration whenever I visit. I also love that my money benefits a great organization and community. This place is special and enjoyable. This place was a pleasant surprise! Was invited by a friend for lunch and realized that the Cafe at Brookwood is so much more! I enjoyed the various sandwich and salad options and decided on the spinach tort with side salad. It was tasty and satisfying. Our server and her helper were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We also loved taking a stroll through the greenhouse and outdoor nursery as well as unique home decor selections, one of a kind artwork and bath bombs and so much more!

5/10/2025: What a wonderful experience! My best friend and I both lost our mothers years ago and decided to start a new tradition of honoring our moms on Mother's Day Weekend. For our first annual Mother's Day Honor Lunch, we decided to go to Brookwood. I am thrilled with our experience! They had an abbreviated menu that weekend. We both had the Mesibov salad to start. I was wonderful and from what i understand, Brookwood is known for this salad. For our meal, I had the eggplant, and my friend had the pork chop. We also had a choice of delicious desserts. I chose the cheesecake. The serve was wonderful, the food was tasty, the atmosphere was perfect with a piano player, and the dining area was clean. I noticed a faint smell of cafeteria type scent, but it dissipated in a few minutes. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The "Community" is such a wonderful space for people in need. I recommend reservations. Make sure you plan for extra time to visit the store and the garden. Beautiful finds!

Worth the Detour from the Highway Driving from Tucson, AZ to St. Augustine, FL, we skipped the Houston traffic and Googled for a quiet lunch spot. Found The Brookwood Café in Brookshire, TX (just off I-10)—a perfect choice. The salmon plate was outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. But the real highlight is the mission: The Brookwood Community provides jobs, housing, and purpose for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The staff proudly shared how the café gives their “Citizens” meaningful work, and it made the meal feel truly special. Service was warm and attentive, the garden-view setting peaceful, and knowing our visit supports such a worthwhile cause was the best part. Highly recommend this hidden gem if you’re passing through Texas. Great food + great mission = unforgettable stop. We’ll be back!

Very tasty and healthy food. I believe the adult handicapped brookwood village residents served us. They were all pleasant and helpful. And there is an interesting shop, the profits go to the Brookwood village residents. Very nice setup.

We went for flowers that are always beautiful. Sometimes pricey. But most of thw time good prices. Most of all the money goes to a good place and the flowers are beautiful. I ja e heard the food is good. I know there gift shop has adorable things in it also.

Food is just ok, but consistent. We go to Breakfast with Santa every year, no matter how old my son gets. It’s just a fun tradition. And, your money goes to a wonderful cause supporting the Brookwoods community. Nice place for a ladies lunch. Shop is pricey, but their Christmas decorations are pretty awesome.

Cafe at Brookwood was good. I think reservations are required. I went with a large group for a meeting and a meal. Our choices were a chicken salad or lemon chicken. I had the salad. I can say that I was still hungry after eating the salad. The lemon chicken looked good and was served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. You can shop in the Brookwood Gift Shop & greenhouse. The gift shop is a wonderland at Christmastime.

This is one place that has always delivered a pleasurable visit. From the Cafe, to the well kept plants in the Garden Center, to the Gift stores with selective items, etc. You and your guests will come to love this place. Your purchases helps the Brookwood Community ministry, because that is what it is, a ministry. I am quite sure you will be back. It is a bit of a drive, but it is worth the trip.

The food and service were great. I had a burger and it was tasty. It just wasn’t my scene. This place is more of a meeting place for women where they can eat, shop and chat. The cafe could earn the coveted 5th star if they had a room with a big leather couch and a big screen TV set to ESPN where us guys could hangout until it was time to leave. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Where to start.... Atmosphere was wonderful. The chicken salad was absolutely devine!! Delicious! Soup was sooooo good!! The bread and marmalade butter was soooo delicious too. It was just ALL SOOOO GOOD! What I didn't like was the Poppy Seed Cake. The cake was frozen. Frosting was just flat out icky. Very, very disappointing! My aunt tried the strawberry cheesecake and loved it. My dessert was just a TOTAL bummer!!! My plate was taken away when I turned away for a moment to talk to my lunch guest. I looked back and my plate was gone! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ We will go back because the food was delicious. Worth a second try!! 🥳🥳🥳

Great service but the chicken mango salsa dish was a little flat. Food has improved since my last visit a couple of years ago, we were told they have a new chef.

This has been a long time favorite for us, but since covid, the menu was greatly reduced. We were very disappointed in the selection. And the food was not that tasty either. I got a chicken salad on croissant. My croissant was smushed, the chicken salad was bland, consisting mainly of chicken and mayonnaise. No minced celery or onion or anything. Just chicken and mayo. Very disappointed.

We used to enjoy the fare at the Cafe but we have not eaten there for years, when and after they replaced the chef. We felt the quality of the food was not the same...especially after being served an undercooked fish entree. Recently we discovered the Cafe offered frozen casseroles so we purchased a King Ranch casserole and we had it tonight. I was not aware that one of ingredients was mashed potatoes...yep it was mashed potatoes and absolutely no corn tortillas. I have eaten a lot of King Ranch Casserole but never had King Ranch Casserole with mashed potatoes and I hope I never do again. I think I can say we will not purchase any further food or casseroles from the Cafe. We regularly shop at Brookwood shops, buying plants and gifts for our family. All of the associates are friendly and kind. It is a pleasure to support Brookwood in their efforts. We will continue to shop and support the Brookwood shops; however the Cafe is still a disappointment.

We came here to celebrate ym grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. We had a reservation for our group and had specifically asked to be sat at one long table. Despite that we were sat at 3 separate tables and they refused to work with us. My server was cold and lacked any sort of personality and the food wasn't good. Everyone at my table was very disappointed! And my grandparents were very disappointed, their celebration was nothing like what they wanted it to be. We will not be returning.
