Kettle Restaurant Bryan Reviews
Best diner in Aggieland. Unfortunately, the larger Kettle location in College Station did not survive the pandemic, but we still have this little gem. Since the other location closed, I've been to this location at least half a dozen times. I've never had a meal that wasn't very good to excellent, and my coffee mug is never empty long.
I purchased Pancakes, Eggs, and Bacon for my mom. (For dinner) She is almost 84 and a picky eater. She ate everything! Thank you for the great service and the wonderful food.
I've always loved the kettle here. Used to be my go to after the bars in my 20s and the last time I went it stood out. One waiter for the whole restaurant and he was working the host station. Still managed to take care of everyone, even if a little slower than usual because it was one person, that's totally fine. I ordered a steak because you can't beat a $16 steak tbh. It was juicy, extremely flavored, dripping in juices and seasoning. I took my first bite and had a omg this is good good moment. Coffee, fresh. Service, great. Good, pretty dang good bang for your buck. Showed me why it was always a past favorite again.
I like kettle, it's just the vibe you need sometimes. Real southern breakfast decent prices and great staff. I'd go here over an IHOP any day
We went in just as they opened to get some breakfast and it was absolutely incredible. An amazing atmosphere and food that feels like it's homemade, at least to me. Very nice staff as well. I plan on going back to try their dinner for sure.
The kettle is one of my favorite places to eat especially with my young son. The food is always hot and fresh and the service has always been polite and warming. My dad and I used to go to the kettle quite often together for many years and now that my dad is no longer here I look forward to building that weekend Saturday breakfast bond with my own son. If your a regular like myself the building can be in the middle of town but the atmosphere has that small town cafe feel everytime you walk in the door. I love to grab some eggs, French toast, and my son's pancakes on Saturday morning and enjoy good breakfast and polite staff. Keep up the awesome work kettle
Great food and service! My husband and I are frequent customers there now and I would like to let everyone know that our server, Felicia, was awesome! Friendly, fast, accurate and returned throughout our meal to check on us and was never rude and always had a smile. 🥰 I recommend everyone to go and give it a try, you won't be sorry.
Great place for breakfast. Ate there and I couldn't eat all my food. Two times ate breakfast and both times had to ask for container to take home. Kept the coffee cups full.Family like atmosphere. Very satisfied.
Food is decent diner food. The service was amazing. Our waitstaff worked hard to accommodate 18 of us after a funeral service, while maintaining distancing protocols. They were on the ball, bending over backwards for us in our time of grief and celebration. I really appreciate how hard they worked and the sincere condolences they expressed to us. I visit any time I'm in BCS anyway, but will be sure to even moreso now. Thanks ladies. You guys were wonderful.
Awesome breakfast! Eggs just right, biscuits light & fluffy. Gravy had great flavor & bacon was crisp not burnt. Even the toddler ate EVERYTHING! Best restaurant breakfast ever!
Really great place. I enjoyed my visit and the staff were very courteous and attentive to our needs. This was my first time here, brought by a friend whose been here plenty of times. The food is delicious and the prices are reasonable and to be quite frank for the quality of the food I'm surprised it's not more expensive. Definitely a place I recommend anyone who's in the area and looking for a place that serves great breakfast. Thanks and gig'em!
We went there this morning for breakfast. I hadn't been there before and my husband was wanting me to try it. I had the Waffle deuces and let me tell you .. IT WAS AMAZING! The prices are perfect for the huge quanity of food. I HIGHLY recommend this place for sure!
I have been going to this place since I was 19 yrs old ...meaning 39 yrs. I've loved it, probably always will. Steak & O/E eggs, crisp hashbrowns, wheat toast, grapes jelly.
Loved finding this jewel. A blast from the past. Food and service was excellent. Great retro atmosphere that I would never want to be updated. What a refreshing change from the modern places that are a dime a dozen. Felt like a kid again!
This is the last Kettle restaurant in the world. Still great, it's like a cross between IHOP and luby's. Most stuff is ten, maybe 15 bucks for a lot of food. Not gourmet but not bad either, it delivers what you would expect.
We met for a family breakfast. Friendly service: The food was great, and even though it was packed, we were able to hold a conversation with our entire party. Noise was not an issue. An added bonus... there is a real ivy tucked in every nook, and they are gorgeous!
There are 2 Kettle restaurants left in the US. I have had the pleasure of dinning at each. I recently relocated from Tucson AZ to Central Texas. I don't live far from Bryan/College Station and was excited to see The Kettle here. it did not disappoint!! The food was fantastic. The service was spectacular. We will defiantly make this on of our regulars, just as we did in Tucson.
Older place but very clean. Service was great. Food remained me of freshly cooked and had flavor. Hot was hot. Drinks did not go dry
The staff was incredibly kind and the food was an amazing deal! If you are in the area go here over any place! They are so amazing, will be back here again and again.
Amazing service every time we go! Great customer service!
I went here after one of my evening classes and I loved every bit of it. My server was incredibly nice and the food was so good. I’m definitely planning to come back here again
What an experience the bathroom was! 🤩🤩🤩. The bathroom was the most exquisite and intricate show of engineering and design for a bathroom I have ever seen. At first glance, most people would think that they aren’t even in a bathroom! This bathroom should be considered the 8th wonder of the world because people will be wondering how this bathroom can even exist.❤️❤️🤎. Sure the food was alright. But the bathroom was truly magnificent. Me and many more will be returning just to re-live the moment when I first entered the one of a kind bathroom.
Looked for a quick country breakfast spot and This place did not disappoint! has one of the best country breakfasts I've ever had. Buttermilk pancakes were delicious! Bacon, sausage and eggs cooked to perfection. Coming from Houston I am always looking for something different and this was by far delish!
I love this place, and try to dine here twice a week. Why? The Tbone steaks are better than Denny's and the grits are always on point, buttery and the customer service is pleasant. I love you Kettle.
Very friendly servers and excellent hostess. Our food arrived peer-to-peer temperature pretty quickly after we placed ordered. Our coffee cups never sat empty. We both left laughing along with the waitress who just was amazing
The food and service was great. In town for a boxing tournament and to eat after the weigh ins.
I've been coming to the kettle for over 10 years and it never disappoints. If you're looking for a good, old fashioned, country breakfast diner experience this is the place for it. Good food, kind service, and very competitive prices. Love it here.
It's Been a good 15 Year's since my first visit to Kettle and still far the most Good service and fast Place in town to take the family or just with friends. I forgot the Waitress name but she did an Amazing job, and she would come and check on us for refills and to make sure we didn't have to ask for her. Everything was Excellent and breakfast was Hot and Good 👍🏻😋. The Best part is that you choose were you want to be seated, other Restaurants here in The Bryan/College Station area you just can't go in and choose your table. That's why I'm giving Kettle a Five Star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. For good customer service and Fast paced.
I always love coming here its the only place ive found in town that comes close to true home cooked meals. Not to mention the nostalgia i get from the time i walk in the door. My personal favorite is the four deuces #41 on their menu lately ive been ordering 2 of them just for myself.
We tried to connect to the wifi, but no one knew the password. Why pay for a wireless router if no one can use it? Also. None of the booths had electrical outlets. Good food, but I'm not sure we'll go there again.
Best home cooked breakfast I’ve eaten in years. Bacon was thick, biscuits and gravy on point. Hint of cigarette smoke, maybe a smoking section somewhere but NOT offensive. Just a heads up, otherwise good experience.
We were passing through and based our choice solely on reviews. They were spot on! Excellent prices for the portions. The bacon was well cooked and had a nice smoked flavor. Eggs were cooked exactly to order. Pancakes were light and fluffy! I like that "breakfast bread" is a choice of toast, English muffin, biscuit or even pancake. Definitely recommend this place.
This is a very nice place for breakfast! We had the Four Deuces (2 Pancakes, 2 pieces of bacon, 2 sausage links, and 2 eggs) and the Steak and loaded Baked Potatoe. The steak was seasoned to perfection! Definitely will visit again.
Our waitress was the best. We went in to eat breakfast and had our 3 month old with us and she started to get fussy, she came and talked to her and then asked if she could picked her up to calm her down. I said yes she got her and held her while we at our meal. ❤️ the staff there has always been so sweet the managers are awesome too.
Love this place . Best ranch dressing in town
Love local businesses! This one is one of my old favorites places. Friendly atmosphere and awesome waffles
I have been eating at this Kettle location since I was a kid and I will continue as long as I can! I miss the days when it was open 24/7, but times change! Every time we have friends in from out of town, we take them here for dinner pancakes!
Had breakfast food, great service & yummy food! Would go back with no hesitation!
Service is always great and friendly. Just wish the property and inside could get a minor upgrade. Not looking for an upscale place but just a touch up.
Took the family there on a Sunday morning breakfast and had the very best chicken fried steak and eggs. Our server's name was Mary and she is the bestest ever! Thank you so much!
The food was great! Kids loved the pancakes. The waitress was wonderful and they were very accommodating.
I have been hanging around these parts for a while. I remember coming at 2am for chicken fried steak or waffles and bacon after a night out in the aggie land. Nowadays with all of the new eateries popping up and down, Kettle's is still around serving delicious food in a no nonsense but homey place. Tonight, SO and I were hungry and happened to drive by and see the open sign. We were the only ones in here. She ordered the catfish with fries and Mac and cheese and I got the Philly cheese steak with fries . Both were delicious. Coffee was fresh and hot. Hey Aggies, don't miss out on this. While it may not be open all night any more, they are open late. And they won't charge you an arm and a leg either. Reasonably priced and friendly. Thank you!!
We've come here a few times and have always enjoyed the food, service, and atmosphere. Delicious southern breakfast for a reasonable price? How could you say no! Some of their dishes have large portion sizes, that just means lunch for the next day! They also make sure your coffee is filled, and that you have all the syrup you need for your pancakes! This time, I got the Dixie Dueces, the boyfriend got the country fried steak. We both had a great time, and we will be coming back soon!
Came here for breakfast. Place was packed but. Got in, sat down, within 10 mins had our food an was joyfully eating. I got the home run. It’s for eggs bacon toast. An hash browns. An I got a waffle on the side. Every thing was so good. Plus our waitress was so nice. An helpful. Will be coming back soon.
We love the chill atmosphere here. The breakfast portion will make you full till dinner! One waitress sweetly asked me if I am with my bf or my brother. And how we met as a couple! I guess my flowery t-shirt gave me away! But I'm pleasantly surprised to find the open-minded and accepting attitude among the staff and local people! One patron even stopped and told us about his war stories on the way out, upon learning that I am from Vietnam.
Very nice breakfast, wonderful wait staff
Mehh. Not the best breakfast but neither the worst. Just a basic breakfast flavor. My hashbrowns were more on the raw side, not crispy. They don't have real butter, just margarine.
The food was good. Lots of the usual breakfast fare (pancakes, eggs, omelets, french toast) with a few specialty plates. It was very busy (post game day crowd), but we were seated quickly. Maybe it was because we had my son, but it felt like the food took forever to come out after we ordered. That is the only reason for the 4 star. Otherwise, it's a great breakfast stop.
This place is laid back and very accommodating. Could use a deep clean, dust still lingers, but all and all this is the place we always come back too.
the wait staff, Ms. Patricia is my favorite,, Appetizer onion rings Chicken fried chicken breakfast or T-Bone Hash brown Eggs med Bacon Texas Toast or ask 4 Biscuit White Gravy Sweet tea and hot chocolate Iam not a Dessert person Not sure on them
Food is great! Nice family atmosphere. Friendly staff. Prices just went up a little but they are still reasonable. Building and restroom could use an update. But then the prices probably wouldn't stay reasonable.
Food is always usually pretty good here! They place is nasty though. It really could use an update, but maybe that is part of the charm. Still…. It has a layer of grim baked into the whole interior with ratty furniture. That being said, I will still continue to eat here for the drunken evening you need greasy diner food to sop up the spirits.
My son ordered an omelette and it came with a choice of grits or hashbrowns and toast or pancakes. The amount of food was huge! I had a side of ham with hashbrowns and gravy on top. The food was absolutely wonderful and even though the cost on the menu almost made me walk out, I'm so glad I didn't. The amount of food you get is well worth the money. Seriously...wonderful food. Our server as excellent and never allowed for our coffee cups to lack of fresh brew. The only reason for four stars was the restroom. Besides being the smallest restroom ever, the lack of handicapped facilities was disturbing plus the restrooms are in serious disrepair. We will be back though :-)
I had the steak and eggs with hashbrowns, and damn was that one of the best meals I've ever had. The steak was the size of my head well, perfectly cooked as well. The coffee was decent, but nothing over the top would recommend anybody looking for a good meal to come here
I met my best friends here for a ladies Sunday brunch and we had a blast- our waitress was pretty good overall and food was decent. One of us ordered a steak and asked for it medium rare and it came back well done and pretty dry. One of the coffee cups had lipstick stuck on the inside- but other than that food was good and service was good. PS restaurant has a very weird odd smell and I’ve now noticed this at BOTH locations- it sure what it is though?
The restaurant needs remodeling. It's dark and aged. The food however, is amazing! Good value. Whatever style you order your eggs come out perfect! Their pancakes are outstanding!
A very good place for a meal like home. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty, like Mom would make. Our server was attentive and courteous. We were a group of Moms with children and she handled our orders well. Would visit again.
I know what I'm getting when I go into a Kettle, it's very consistent & a good place for breakfast when you're tired of overpaying for some eggs and protein. Service is attentive and friendly. Looks a little worn, but hell as long as the food is filling & priced well, I have no problem.
This location is undergoing renovations, so it currently doesn't look its best. However the food and service is excellent!

Good diner style restaurant. Generous portions at a good price
Pros: Great Meat. Good service. Cons: No veggies unless you order a separate sald or side. Also, the waiters seem to expect a hefty tip. Evidence: The crestfallen look and the subsequent refusal to meet the eyes after settling the bill. Come on,,, 18% tip is not a small amount for any customer
If you are looking for that classy, hometown diner feel, this is a great place. The atmosphere is charming, and not too bright. The food is honest and comfortable, with large portions, so paying the $10+ feels fairly worth it (my picture is a country breakfast split between 2 people). Strong coffee, and service that is not too much in your face. All in all, whether I want a place for a nice breakfast or a late night pot of coffee, this is a go-to.
I dropped by this 24-hour spot after a late-night stroll along the beach, and it was just what I needed. The avocado toast was a standout—fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The staff was welcoming and attentive, making the experience even better. The atmosphere had a cozy, classic diner feel, though it got a bit noisy during peak hours. Despite that, the overall vibe was inviting, and the food made it worth the visit.
I eat breakfast out at least 3 times a week, from $ to $$$. Breakfast here is fair not cheap by any means for what you get. I have never ever, by any restaurant been charged for 2 tablespoons of salsa for my sunny side up eggs. Had I been given the option and told that a side would be .75 cents I would have not liked but would have ok’ed that, But 2.75, unacceptable! I will never eat here again Too many places with better food for less especially in this town.
The service wasn't bad and the atmosphere was friendly. The food was okay, nothing great nothing horrid. But we won't be returning, the food just wasn't that good. Because it isn't handicapped friendly. The handicap parking was a much longer walk than typical to the front door and there was a curb to deal with. The women's restroom was too small, it was difficult to navigate on a came. It would have been impossible with a walker or wheelchair.
It's a old establishment and the decor is dated. The service lacked even though they're weren't maybe 10 people in the whole place. The good is mediocre at best. It's bland and just blah. Nothing like it used to be. Won't go again.
Food was good and our waitress was friendly and nice. I do need to ask how often you clean your restrooms. There was dried poop stuck to the walls. Dropped a star for that. Dropped another for some of the stuff I saw that should be cleaned more often. Windows, shelf areas, Around your cash register.
The food was okay. The waitress we had wasn't great. She asked me what meat option I wanted for the plate I order and I mentioned that I thought it came with ham and she said it was my choice. The menu says 75 cents extra for bacon or sausage which is what I got charge for saying bacon. All I wanted was an honest answer so I knew what would be on our ticket. Other than that it is an okay place and we'll probably go back.
Looks like a Diner and smells like a Diner. It’s definitely aged with some wear and tear. Service was Friendly and kept bringing coffee. Food took a little while, the place just seems to have a laid back feel. Lots of Breakfast choices on the menu.
The food was good. We had a few different servers but they were nice. The floors were dirty and the handicap parking is on the other side of the building. The bathroom looked so bad that I couldn't even use it. This is my first and last time trying a Kettle Restaurant
The food could’ve been better. They say the meal come with certain items, but had to pay for every little items that we thought came with a meal. Waiting for help, but they’re busy talking in the back to each other. Was not busy at the restaurant early morning big disappointment. Pay $45 or 46 for two breakfast omelet with a bacon cheese and chili. little Bacon or ham don’t even know it’s inside the omelet no good taste it. Waste of money We did have the biscuit and gravy, but it was a Disappointing as well we went early today on December1, 2025
The food was good with a little salt, pepper, and hot sauce. Service was not so good, our waitress only came to our table to take our order, and bring our food. No refills on coffee or tea ..
Experience started off great — got a tall glass of cold, rich chocolate milk. Nothing was good after that. Service was slow. Waffles were bland and dry. Chicken fried steak was one of the worst I’ve had (meat was softer than breading.) Hash browns tasted like they were frozen then cooked for two minutes. Will stick with IHOP next time to save money.
The place smells of mold, definitely needs cleaned up. Our waitress had a very hard time taking our order with her language barrier. The food was awful, we unfortunately weren’t even able to finish it. French toast under cooked, fries under cooked, and cold food. No flavor. The only thing this place seemed to have going for it was the absolutely sweetest gentleman who checked us out at the end.
The food is descent nothing special, simple country cooking good serving sizes, but Any extras cost too much in my opinion. The worst thing about this location is the service. I've been to this location twice now where I had to get up and go to the kitchen door and ask for a refill on my coffee. It wasn't busy there were maybe 4 other tables, I wasn't checked on more then once, my ticket was given to me with my food so had no chance to even ask for dessert, nor was I asked if I wanted dessert, I think I am finally done with this location I may give it another shot somewhere else.
We went here tonight for the first time. I ordered a Philly sandwich with fries. I asked for no mushrooms. My daughter ordered the catfish dinner with Mac & cheese and fries. My other daughter got chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and onion rings. My grand daughter got the children's chicken tenders and fries. Now I got my sandwich & it had mushrooms on it. I called the waitress over and she said "Ohh that was my fault, I forgot to put it on the ticket. Are you allergic?" I responded with "No but I'm not going to eat something I don't like and asked to not have on there." She seemed kinda surprises, walked away and grabbed a plate to take the sandwich. By this time my daughter had taken a bite put if her catfish. She said it was disgusting. All it tasted like was river water. No seasonings what so ever. We called the waitress back over and she got the manager/owner, I'm not sure but he was the boss. By then I had gotten my "new" sandwich back but now all my green peppers and onions were not even cooked. So when he came over we explained everything. He was nice and took her meal off but we explained the issues and said we probably would not be back. I did also use the bathroom while I was there and it felt like I was in a middle schools bathroom. Tons of stupid stuff written across the walls and the sink was super short. The place could use a make over. We were hoping that it was good but we won't be back.
The food is not very good anymore. The burger was dry,and small. It took forever for us to get our food, and it was cold.Im not going back. The pricing was way to high for what we got.A burger,no fries. She ate a poached egg, hash brown and 2 biscuits and gravy.$28 bucks.
The older waitress was very nice, but the other staff were entirely unconcerned if we needed anything or enjoyed our food. My steak came out overcooked, and they wanted to charge me extra for sour cream for the undercooked potato. The side of carrots also came out squishy and unseasoned. The ice tea was fresh, at least. I probably won't be back.
My husband and I haven't came here in a long time and we were disappointed in the food. We both ordered hamburgers. My kiddos got chicken tenders, and pancakes they were both decent compared to the burgers. They were burnt to a crisp and so dry. They were also frozen patties. The quality was poor. Sadly, we will not be returning.
I’m so sad that I have to give this place such a low rating. We stopped to eat here randomly expecting a home cooked country meal and were very disappointed. The food is very over priced for the quality. My boyfriend and I both got chicken fried steak and it was the worst we’ve ever had. It’s very obviously pre-breaded, frozen patties. Absolutely no flavor in any of the food. My green beans were 100% flavorless, it was like eating them out of the can. The mashed potatoes are instant and so low quality that they felt powdery in my mouth. And they serve boxed craft mac n cheese, which is good by itself, so I’m not sure how they also managed to make it taste like nothing?? There was only one server working the entire restaurant, so service was slow. Very obviously understaffed. Maybe their breakfast foods are better, but we won’t be back to find out.
This used to be my favorite breakfast restraunt 2 weeks ago bacon was not cooked to my satisfaction decided to give another try cause anyone can make mistake this morning ordered 3 eggs got 2 bacon not cooked to my order again last time at this place and I hate to say that cause I used to love it but seems like a whole new crew there that does not care
I know a lot of you are gonna disagree with me on this one but this is my 3 time being here and let me tell you what a bad experience I had again . I normally don't complain about this kind of stuff but I feel like I gave this place plenty chances to prove me wrong about their food and service and they failed me again. Coffee was cold , food took for ever and the portion were very small for the price we paid . Pancakes tasted like rubber and were cold , there was a huge line to pay the bill and there was NO ONE at the register for a while . My humble advice for the management team , your personal needs to be more organized and make sure your food its being served hot . Not going back ever
Can’t rate the food because we never got it. Granted, it was a busy shift however, we waited another 15 minutes to be seated. Once seated, we ordered and began to chat. We noticed after about 45 minutes after ordering that there were people eating who had been seated AFTER us. Once we brought it to the manager on shift attention, she asked who was eating that had been seated after us. We then realized that there were 4 tables eating that got seated after us. She was unapologetic and said she was going to see what was going on. Since we were going to a family function not long after, we decided that we just didn’t want to eat anymore and left.
I ordered the Salisbury steak, it was horrible and I also had mac and cheese and green beans. No seasoning no flavor at all. Mac and cheese had no flavor. It was horrible
Kettle and Grill has some seriously good food, but the service was a major letdown. Connie, our server, seemed totally uninterested, like she'd rather be anywhere else. It felt like we were bothering her just by being there, and we definitely felt rushed through our meal. Great food, but don't expect a warm welcome from Connie.
The table that the waitress sat us at was dirty. I overheard the older couple next to us mentioning their table dirty (they were nice enough to not complain). The windows looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years. The filters and ceiling tiles were gross. The lights were dimmed. Their clientele is older folks so all of this is concerning.... I spent $70 ($10 tip) on two meals including dessert. My friend had the rancho steak n eggs. She got food poisoning 4 hours later and we missed our candlelight concert. Overall very bad experience. The hash browns, eggs, toast, and the "waffle thang" was good everything else was bad. Do not go here. There is a reason why the other location closed down.
