Tappo Buffalo Reviews
Excellent Abiance and equally excellent cuisine! Local gem in downtown Buffalo. Definitely recommend
This is one of my favorite restaurants just for the love of their Goat Cheese Crespelle. They don't offer it on their takeout menu, which breaks my heart, so the only way I can get it is if I go in. The service is always fantastic, they are consistent with their food, the place is clean, it's always lively but very comfortable to talk with your table. I saw a few large tables (8-10 guests) in the main dining room and I think next time we will bring a group.
We had a 90-person luncheon after my father’s funeral at Tappo and everything was incredible. The staff, drinks, charcuterie, lunch, and atmosphere were all perfect. Everyone said how much they enjoyed it. I highly recommend considering Tappo for a large event.
This place is as cute on the inside as it is on the outside. Definitely a fun vibe and friendly service. We walked in on a busy Saturday night but Claire and Megan were able to find us a table right away. Server Megan was also a gem. Lover Boy and Golden Hour are both five stars and I would return for these drinks alone. Great spot.
Very nice place. The chefs salad was delicious. Great rigatoni and amazing chicken Milanese. This was such a great experience. Delicious Meatballs, bread, etc. Our waitress was alright, !but you could tell she was busy. Nice selection of mocktails and drinks for the kids—good Shirley temples. Kathy the singer was very very good and friendly. They forgot our cannolis but oh well. Nice place. I will return.
Went to Tappo last night after not having been for a while. Wow! Tappo keeps upping their game. The decorations were fun, the service was attentive, and the food: top notch. My family got the Braciole, Eggplant parm, cheesy garlic bread and another pasta dish. The pasta was perfect and the red sauce was some of the best I have tasted in Buffalo. People always rave about some of the longer established Italian places in WNY as "the best", but Tappo deserves a place in those conversations. After a good number of years, it's clear they are still pushing themselves and putting a ton of thought into what they're doing, which I love in a restaurant!
We went to Tappo for my birthday dinner last Saturday. They easily managed the party of ten and we received extensive service from our waitress. All were happy with the large menu and daily specials and appetizers. The food was delicious. The decor is keenly seasonal, with an enjoyable immersion atmosphere. Our manager visited our table a few times, making sure we were pleased and he extended his best wishes to us. Overall a great experience. The food was reasonably priced and we ate and drank a lot of it.
Great spot for summer happy hour outside! My coworkers came here on a Thursday evening on a beautiful summer day and there was a LOT of room to spread out. Great couches and corn hole in the back of the patio, and lots of tables and a bar up front. Happy hour specials include draft beer, house wine, and well drinks. They also have decent apps to split with the party, and daily specials. We split calamari and multiple people loved the Gold Rush cocktail. 10/10 recommend for either casual drinks after work or a full date night.
We had a large party including two elderly adults. Our first seating was a little bit loud for my elderly father to hear the conversation with his children and grandchildren. We were promptly seated at a more secluded table where both parents could enjoy our time together. Sydney our waiter was a delight she was attentive friendly and very accommodating. We had a couple bottles of wine, hors d'oeuvres of bread cheese tray and jalapeno stuffed pepper. Our Party of 8 party consisted of three guests that are a bit more difficult to please being vegan and vegetarian but they all found delicious options on the menu. It was a wonderful reunion we really appreciated our time there, the food and service.
Bravo! We found our first favourite restaurant in Buffalo 👏🏻🎉. Im a big fan of Italian food and this restaurant served one of the best pasta I have aver try in the US🌷. We order 3 different plates to try and we loved all of them. The waitress was very attentive to our needs and the manager is very professional, we was seated a table to see the football game, however my father vision was blocked a little by where the manager used to seat and work, however without need to say anything, he moved to another table (and every time need a phone call he needed to rush back) so this was a very big ++ for the restaurant on the services!
An enjoyable dining experience.first time going here and it was worth it. Upon entering we were greeted by a warm welcoming receptionist and were seated immediately.very pleasant atmosphere.wait staff were amazing and very knowledgeable about all the food.not pushy or rude at all.ordering was very pleasant.the food was excellent. I had the Chicken parmigiana, the grilled Brussel sprouts and a salad.my wife enjoyed the Alla vodka pasta with sausage and a salad.prices were good and fair.service was excellent.
I have wanted to check out this restaurant for a while. Last Monday was my chance and it was just “OK”. The server was very nice, but it took a little while for our entrees to come out. Group of three, we all ordered the same thing, Shrimp with Risotto. It was seasoned, and the Shrimp was fine, but I wasn’t used to a crunchy Risotto. It had chopped celery and other sautéed vegetables. And steamed cauliflower. Very underwhelming, especially at the price point. I expected better.
Food was excellent, service was not. We had drinks prior to dinner and the bill came to $25 I gave $30 to the bartender and he did not return the change. I would have let the $5 but that's my choice, he stole his tip. We were called to dinner in the igloo and I didn't bother to argue. We had dinner, party of 8 - prime rib. It was fabulous. When the bill came it was $120 over what we expected and planned to pay. We had to get the manager who did fix the bill and charge us correctly but the waitress was not happy as it negatively effected her tip. Be careful when you go there, double check your bill...
I have eaten at many fine establishments in my life — some with Michelin stars, some with questionable napkins — but Tappo Restaurant may now live forever in my memory the way Notre Dame football fans still talk about the 1988 national championship: loudly and with unnecessary dramatics. Let’s start at the beginning. I walked into Tappo with the confidence of a Notre Dame quarterback on game day — chest out, stomach ready, maybe slightly overdressed. The vibe inside? Warm lighting, great music, and a faint whisper of garlic that could make even the most committed keto dieter throw down their cauliflower rice and weep. I felt good. This was going to be a touchdown meal. Then… the wait. Friends, when I say I waited an hour and 30 minutes for my food, I mean I waited an hour and 30 minutes the way Notre Dame fans wait for another national championship: with optimism, pain, and a lot of internal negotiations with a higher power. I had time to reflect on my life choices, re-live all four quarters of the 2012 BCS Championship in my mind, and check the wine menu 47 times. But then something magical happened — the manager, clearly a hero recruited straight from South Bend, came over and comped me a drink. Just like that, the mood shifted. It wasn’t a flag on the play — it was a perfect fourth-quarter interception that turned the game around. The wine was smooth, a little bold, and frankly made me forget that my stomach had started to question whether food was real. And then… the pasta arrived. The Alfredo pasta came out like Rudy sprinting onto the field. Creamy, rich, unapologetically decadent. I twirled it on my fork, and I swear I heard the faint sound of the Notre Dame Victory March playing softly in the distance. It didn’t just coat the pasta — it hugged it. Every bite was a warm embrace from an Italian grandmother who somehow also tailgates in South Bend every Saturday. But hold on — the mushroom sausage pasta? My God. If the Alfredo pasta was the quarterback, this dish was the offensive line, running backs, and entire defensive unit combined. Earthy mushrooms, perfectly seasoned sausage, pasta cooked just al dente enough to remind you that life is good and carbs are a gift. It was like watching Notre Dame pull off an overtime win in a snowstorm: unexpectedly glorious and slightly emotional. The service, despite the Great Wait of 2025, was genuinely kind. My server checked in, refilled water like they were running a no-huddle offense, and managed to keep my wine glass from ever being empty. Respect. Now, was the night perfect? No. Waiting an hour and 30 minutes for pasta is a commitment — like sticking by Notre Dame through those “rebuilding years.” But honestly, when the food landed, when that creamy Alfredo and that mushroom sausage symphony hit the table, it was all worth it. Would I go back? Absolutely. Like a true Notre Dame fan, I’ll keep showing up, yelling at nobody in particular, and believing this time it’ll be our year. And if the pasta takes another hour and a half? I’ll order more wine, hum the fight song, and prepare my taste buds for greatness. Final score: Tappo: 38 My Patience: 14 Alfredo Pasta: MVP Mushroom Sausage Pasta: Heisman Winner Manager Comping My Drink: National Treasure
For a pre-concert dinner before a show at the KeyBank Center, a group of twelve of us had a reservation at Tappo.. We were seated immediately upon arrival. The food was delicious. The warm bread and stuffed peppers were fantastic. The lasagna and meatball bomber sandwiches were both big hits. The pork ragu and pasta was reported tasty as well. The restaurant had a good selection of wines, with options ranging from reasonably priced house botttles at $18 (we had the California cab) to more premium options. We were seated at a high-top table, which was perfect for our group. I also noticed the rooftop area, but I wasn't sure if it was open. I've seen it busy during the winter, though (igloos). We always enjoy going to Tapo because it offers a great mix of quality food and a wonderful atmosphere.
We came for dinner and because we came during lent, they were serving fish fries. I had visited once before and got the eggplant parm which was very good and I wish I did that this visit, too. The fish fry itself was boring in taste but the tartar sauce did help add a little dimension. The coleslaw was good and the mac salad was great but did not have enough noodles. We got the brussel sprouts to start and they were great! My boyfriend got the meatballs and said they were the perfect texture and flavor. Our waitress was so sweet and the vibe is very open and nice. We will probably be back but will opt for their regular menu.
The food was great. I'm old, so take my criticism of the band being so loud the four of us couldn't carry on a conversation with a grain of salt. The service was lacking. From the time we placed the order, until we got our food, was 55 minutes. There were many tables seated after us that got their food before we did. We thought booking at 5:45 with tix for a 7:30 show would be plenty. It wasn't. We had to rush eating and had no time for dessert. Would've really like to try the brulee . The waitress finally came out and said the ticket was front and center so we should get our food soon. Not sure if she forgot to put the order in. Lastly, they only brought 2 glasses for water, for a table if 4. I heard a lot of good things about this place, but they fell short. This was just my experience, yours might be different.
Ots a nice restaurant and we went there cause my older son liked it. Me and my wife wanted to take our 2 sets of twins there for a surprise birthday dinner.one set turnedn19 and the other 18...I was hoping for a good time but instead it took over an hour for the pasta to come out.out of a table of 9 only 5 people had water,,,bread with olive oil and 3 people had sodas..no alcohol . So my wife complained about a lot of other tables getting served way before us that came in later than my family which I said to be patient but everybody was pretty upset waiting far too long for just pasta...when the food finally came,,thae kids were already upset..the mood gone and on of my older twins didn't even eat cause he was mad about the service...best part about it was the bill...$290 plus I put an extra $30 not knowing they put gratuity in also... I was too embarrassed to ask for the extra $30 back,,,,but $290 for bread and pasta dishes and poor service that took way to long to bring,,for them to be entitled to put gratuity on before what I thought should have been only $20 floors me. ,,,like I said,,beautiful place, nice atmosphere..but the service really bad . I'm pretty sure we will never go there again with my big family....you can think of that what you will but to me I could have gotten better service someplace else that would appreciate having a big family over for dinner at their place..
What a disappointing experience and meal. Booked an igloo dinner for my friend’s 40th birthday and received the worst service I have ever experienced in my life. We waited 45 minutes for WATER. While I understand the establishment was busy there is NO reason we should have been there for 3.5 hours…the majority of the time just waiting for food. I will say the food was excellent. The server never once checked in on us unless she was dropping off food and we had to ask (and wait and wait and wait) for something that was missing or we needed. One of the people in our party had an allergy and received her nut free dessert 30 minutes after the rest of us received ours. I have never paid so much for a dinner and received such poor service. PS. Don’t bother with any add-ons such as the boozy hot chocolate, you’ll just wait another 30 minutes to get that and it won’t even be warm.
