Xi An Gourmet Buffalo Reviews
Most of the menu is meat based, but the vegetarian food is cooked so well that it is really worth a visit for vegetarians. Mapo Tofu, eggplant in garlic sauce, and the shredded cabbage are highlights. The Youpo noodles are wonderful, you can tell by the unusual wide shape that they are homemade and they certainly taste that way. While we were sitting there enjoying the other dishes, the hostess came by and advised us to stir those noodles quickly since they will gel up after sitting too long. The restaurant is small and self-serve tea or water, would suggest going at non-peak hours.
Best chinese food in buffalo. We have a tradition in our family to come eat here every friday. And every time the food does not disappoint. Their spicy beef noodle soup in the picture is my go to. It is not very spicy (medium spicy) and their portions are generous too. Wonderful dish for a cold buffalo night.
The dishes here are absolutely delicious, and the staff is so friendly! I’m really happy, because it’s rare for me to find an authentic Chinese restaurant in buffalo that truly suits my taste. I didn’t expect such a small place to bring me such a big surprise. I’ll definitely be coming back often!
Excellent authentic Chinese food. Went twice while visiting Niagara. Everything we ordered tasted great. I loved their noodles. Thick and chewy and lots of flavors. Small dining room inside if you want to eat in. Noticed many food delivery drivers picking up orders. Come here if you want the best Chinese food in Buffalo.
Wheelchair Accessible! Delicious food! Well lit, clean, pleasant. The hallway leading to the restroom is crowded but it's worth the effort to have them move things if needed. Staff are friendly and helpful. Other patrons spoke Chinese and there were constant carryout others being picked up, so food will probably always be fresh. Prices are very fair. Portions are sized to share and there was some left to take home. The food was fantastic. It came out hot and beautiful and it stayed hot throughout the meal. I can't wait to go here again!
Xi'an cuisine, and more broadly, Northwestern Chinese food, has been gaining popularity in cities like New York and Buffalo. These dishes often feature dry peppers, herbs, and spices in beef and lamb preparations, offering bold, earthy flavors that are satisfying and multi-layered. One standout dish is the Big Plate Chicken (大盘鸡), originally from Xinjiang, which was created to satisfy hungry travelers after long journeys. Xi'an Gourmet has done an excellent job with this dish, presenting marinated chicken, stewed potatoes, and wide, hand-pulled noodles (belt noodles), all soaked in a rich, flavorful sauce that combines savory and spicy elements perfectly.
For those who are not familiar with any Chinese cuisine, this snug little diner provides authentic northwestern Chinese food (and some American Chinese food for people who play it safe), such as Da Pan Ji (chicken served in a big plate, Xinjiang cuisine), pork burger (no green pepper no cilantro just pork, Shaanxi), and Sao Zi noodles (topping should be stir fried with rice vinegar, also from Shaanxi). Owner is super friendly; she didn’t only find me a seat but also passed me their vinegar and homemade chili paste. Would be a super authentic and unusual experience for you, if you never have northwestern Chinese food before. For those who know their way around northwestern Chinese food or are originally from the area (especially Shaanxi), this place cures your nostalgic homesickness! The chili paste is SO PROPERLY GOOD! 乡党,咥!
Best Chinese I’ve ever eaten. Was with a dear Chinese friend. The Chinese hamburger was a delightful surprise. Everything we had we shared. What a fun experience. The Lamb soup was delicious. The fried dumplings were great. Some of the dishes pictured I don’t remember the names of. I highly recommend. The prices are reasonable and flavor and freshness of the food is unbeatable.
I stopped in for a late lunch. I got the pork burger and the cumin beef. The burger was awesome. The outside was crispy and the pork inside was juicy and flavorful. The cumin beef was flavorful with a good sauce. Well balanced. It did have a little spice if you are sensitive. It came with white rice. The server was polite and helpful. There are tables if you want to eat there but I got it to go. Would definitely go again.
This place is a hidden gem. I'm a regular customer here and will always stop by when I want authentic chinese food I had the sliced beef noodle soup and chicken fried rice, spicy pork noodle soup, and pork chinese burger. Food was fresh and delcious. Lady who works at the front is very nice and accommodating.
(If you think my review is helpful to you and the others, please press the like button. Thank you!) Really authentic Chinese restaurant. I ordered spicy beef noodle, Dapangji ( Spicy chicken with potato and red pepper with noodle) and shiozhurou which is sichuan style boiled beef. Not in this picture but I also ordered some vegetable, tofu with beef and etc.. This was the most delicious restaurant I've ever visited in Buffalo so far. Both the hot and cold water is for free. The price is also reasonable. I will try all the menus here for sure! Worth visiting here.
Excellent flavor here. I ordered three dishes, pork with dried tofu (try it - you’ll like it, trust me!), cumin beef and chicken with chili sauce. Really liked all three. The cumin beef has a solid cumin flavor - not overpowering, nicely balanced. I really liked the chicken though. Has a bit of a Szechuan pepper taste and nice heat. Would definitely reorder it. And the pork with the tofu was also really enjoyable. Bonus as well for very friendly service.
A small family setting restaurant with 4 tables. We were waiting for more than half an hour but still no seat. So we decided to do a take out because we had to drive to Itheca. Then as our food was getting ready, two tables opened up. We set down and finished our food at the spot. The food was authentic northern Chinese food, and the waitress was really helpful.
I got general tso and it was so so over cooked that it was brown crisp all the way thru tastes like it had been sitting all day in grease till someone ordered it..same exact thing with the sesame chicken. The rice looked good until I tried it and it was barely warm and completely soaked with grease definitely NOT a 4.5 star..only reason I gave a star was because I had to pick one and that’s being generous..I will NEVER come back..oh and they don’t have combo meals you have to pay separately for each item..cost 60$… not worth it
