My local go-to - a cute little casual place. I always get the vegetable tempura roll and love it, but I recently came here for the first time with family who actually eat fish and they really enjoyed their food too! The texture of the fried gyoza created a beautiful crunch. The staff here are sweet and do their best even though it can get busy!

Great sushi and great people. There is a reason that Kuru Kuru was voted Burbank’s best sushi. While small and unassuming, this unfussy sushi place gets right to the point. Best seat is at the counter, and a little blackboard at the end gives the day’s fresh catch and chef recommendations. The sushi and sashimi preparations melt in your mouth, and the cut rolls are dimensionally pleasing and structurally sound - no weird jaw-unhinging needed or messy dropsies here! The “regulars” are frequent and many, and you can tell by the greetings and practiced orders that they share my appreciation. We’ve left happy and full every time - and always there is a new bite of delicious discovery enjoyed. The staff is friendly, professional and the fish is fresh.

I love Kuru Kuru. The sushi here is delicious. They have excellent house specials, too along with a huge selection to choose from. It was this restaurant that got me hooked on Hakutsuru's Junmai Ginjo Sake. The staff here is awesome, attentive and they always have great music playing, too. A great spot for an intimate dinner however we love sitting at the bar and speaking with the sushi chef, Johnny. Definitely our number 1 favorite spot for sushi!

From a sushi lover , this place has a history in this location I just discovered. I thought it was new. Anyway, the sushi was outstanding, the environment calm, the attention to detail on point. Chef was open to questions and giving opinions. Bottom line: after reading some reviews, I realized once I was deep into dining experience, there are a lot of malcontents leaving reviews here. Great. Stay away! So I can sit and dine at the bar. That's right. The bar is open here. Highly recommend this sushi bar. 35 years at the same location can't be bad!!!

Easily the best sushi spot in Burbank. I come here all the time. This is a pretty small location so I wouldn't recommend any large parties, but for a couple or small group of friends this is excellent! The sushi here is always excellent quality and the staff are extremely friendly. I recommend the K4 roll, that's my favorite.

Really enjoyed this place! There was construction in the parking lot so it was a little difficult to get there, but the sushi was great and the service was good too. If you have parties over for the seating is a little awkward, but doable. Definitely recommended!

I ate here for the first time, it was a very friendly atmosphere. They provide excellent customer service, and the best part is the food was superb. I will be coming back often.

Great little spot with reasonable pricing. The yellow tail sashimi and the Kuru Kuru rolls are my go to items, especially the k3 roll. Oh, and don't forget to get the garlic edamame!

The screen actors guild is the bomb. Every thing is good that I’ve had. Service people are friendly but should use eye contact more. It’s hard to get their attention because they are busy. I enjoy it here until kids come in. It’s so small and they are usually loud and distracting. I would recommend this place for sure. Except on Fridays. Super busy.

This is an excellent mom and pop sushi restaurant. They have many special rolls that you cant get just anywhere. I reccomend the Universal roll and the ABC roll. If you plan on going make reservations as the restaurant is small and is usually crowded at prime dining hours. Plenty of free parking also.

Second visit was a lot less positive than the first. Waitress seems absorbed by whatever she's doing by the front door, sat with an empty tea much of the meal--in a restaurant with 3 occupied tables (no, she wasn't dealing with a rush of delivery orders...). Sushi didn't stand out as much this time (cut roll pictured from first visit was great), wasn't offered ginger/wasabi though I could've asked. Seemed overpriced for what I got (soup/salad, sashimi and a hand roll), both times honestly.

My friend and I dined here the other night, and I feel like they were understaffed for the full house they had. Water wasn't offered, no one checked on us so we had to waive them down for a refill on our drinks, food took a while to be served, and overall I would've liked more service for the full price that was paid. Also, 2 orders or rolls were wrong. and then the waiter questioned me.

Maybe sushi is THE forte of this place and should remain its only specialty - haven't tried yet but judging by other people's reviews it's good. The rest of the items on the menu... Not so sure. Have to agree with another reviewer of Chicken Teriyaki dish - it tastes along the lines of "Panda Express", only the portion you receive will be quite significantly smaller with hardly any rice (and the price higher). Overall, more like an overpriced fast food lunch option. Definitely, not a dinner place. Also, the Chicken Udon dish was supposed to be noodles with chicken. Who knew there would actually be so much broth?? No objections, but would be nice to mention somewhere the dish is actually more of a "soup" than anything else.

There is no shortage of sushi selection in town. The sushi here leaves a lot to be desired. The rolls are small for the price and given the small portion of fish inside the rolls, it is hard to tell the freshness and flavor of the ingredients. Amongst all the rolls ordered, the only one that I would recommend would be K3 on the menu (Garlic Salmon Roll). The seats were not clean and the tables still feel sticky from the previous guests. The one time use chopsticks were low quality with some tips were discolored already. For a similar price, there are much better alternatives.

I wish more people left honest reviews about the actual food and not about the service. So this review goes out to everyone that’s curious about how the actual food tasted. TL;DR: Not Authentic and mediocre at best. Let’s start with the miso soup. The soup itself was extremely watery and was obviously made from instant ingredients and not actually made in house. The tofu was too small and too few and the seaweed was non-existent. I wouldn’t care if it was instant miso, if it actually tasted anything like miso. This soup made me question what real miso actually tasted like. The tempura left much to be desired as the ingredients used were neither authentic nor fully-cooked. It felt like the chef grabbed a random bag of American mixed vegetables and threw them in a deep fryer. Broccoli and carrot tempura? Weird. Most of the vegetables were still crunchy and under-cooked, but the breading was good. Let’s talk about the sushi! The Nigiri: The fish was fresh enough and were actually quite delightful. The cuts were fine and the bite-sized portion sizes were perfect and authentic. Usually sushi restaurants in America make the pieces far too big. This was not the case here. The one thing that most sushi restaurants do not get right is the actual sushi rice. The rice that was used for this sushi was normal mid-grade rice, NOT actual sushi rice. On top of it being the wrong kind of rice, there was no vinegar or flavor in the rice which did not compliment the highlight of the restaurant, the fish. To the owners, a quick google search on how to make sushi rice with proper flavor should be simple and low-cost. I would definitely visit again if this was done correctly as the fish itself was quite good. The Rolls: The rolls were great. They were drenched in sauces and flavor which made me question what the actual ingredients inside the roll tasted like. This is very common for Korean style sushi rolls. I personally don't mind the non-authentic rolls as the sauces and wide variety of Korean and American influenced ingredients is a great compliment to the menu relative to the other, usually less flavorful, menu items typically found in Japanese restaurants. I would not recommend this restaurant if you are looking for authentic Japanese food. If you are looking for a nice night out at a decent price point for some sushi with friends, this may be the spot. Just don't order the miso soup.

This was the first and last time my fiance and I will ever eat here, the sushi was not fresh and the rice for my rice bowl, was made with too much water. It had no flavor and was basically mush, I have had better sushi and the grocery store and wish I had gone there instead, it would have been cheaper and fresher. This experience was a disappointment.

How in the world is this place so highly rated? I have had fresher, tastier packaged sushi. Every piece of fish was mushy, tepid, and drowned in sauces that did not pair with the fish at all. Save your money, avoid this place.

The staff is slow, inattentive and barely speak to you, the sushi is entirely overpriced and the rolls are sloppily assembled. The sushi is so so for what they’re charging. When I walked in I oddly and immediately felt unwelcome; like I walked into someone’s party uninvited or something. With all of the sushi options around, I definitely will not be coming back.
