Caffe Stellato Burlingame Reviews
As a well traveled personal chef, I don’t say this lightly. The quality of the ingredients is absolutely unmatched, hands down some of the best I’ve come across anywhere. Every component tastes fresh and deliberate and there is no need for extra condiments because the flavors are already perfected. The sandwiches are sensational, the craftsmanship is real, and this shop deserves way more recognition. Stop sleeping on this place.
Beautiful and cozy shop. We discovered this by chance that we were craving gelato and we were not fond of the franchise Salt & Straw. Surprisingly, this place has so many flavors, from the classic like chocolate and vanilla to more modern flavors like mint chip or cotton candy or rum raisin and some more interesting flavors that I had never known the names. Not to mention that I finally found Rum Raisin, my fave flavored gelato. I have been seeking for it for all over Bay area and finally found it here. Thus, this place has successfully become my new favorite gelato shop. I’ll be a regular!
My partner said it was a really good sandwich. And we are picky about our sandwiches.. The workers are all super nice and chill! 10/10 would recommend on yelp!
An incredible find on Burlingame Avenue! This little Italian Caffe offers some delicious gelato flavors (over 40 types) and they are quite generous with their ice cream samples. The owners are incredibly sweet and more than happy to showcase their flavors and create a community feel. There are also some nice tables right on the sidewalk for one to eat and enjoy!
There are so many foods I would recommend.
Love love loved this place and everyone working there! We were offered a sample of one of the cuts of meat we had a question about, and they were so patient as we tried different gelato flavors. We had the calabrese sandwich today, and it was so good I wanted another one before I had even finished it 🥲 Finished our meal with the cardamom gelato, which was also delish! Will definitely be making the long drive over to come back again — undoubtedly so worth it
The gelato was delicious, and the service was quick. I ordered mango, guava, and passionfruit. Each one was incredibly flavorful, and I thought the scoops were generously-sized. Thanks for a great afternoon treat! EDIT: Added a photo of my 3-scoop gelato. I was so eager to try it out that I ate a couple bites before remembering to take a picture. :)
A Surprise Find on Burlingame Ave: Caffe Stellato Picture this: I'm cruising down Burlingtown Ave, minding my own business, when suddenly – BAM! – major frozen dessert craving hits. That's when I stumbled upon Caffe Stellato, and boy, am I glad I did. This place is like a little slice of Italy hiding in plain sight! First things first – the gelato. (Because let's be real, why eat ice cream when you can have gelato?) They've got three whole cases of the stuff! I must've stood there for a good five minutes, just gawking at all the flavors. Eventually, I went for a combo that would make my dentist weep: Very Rocky Road and Triple Fudge Chocolate. And because I live by my friend Bennett's wise words, "No regrets, eat more ice cream," I got it in a cup WITH a cone on top. Thanks for the encouragement, Bennett – you're the real MVP here! But here's the kicker – while I'm there, happily stuffing my face with this heavenly gelato, I realize there's way more to this place than just frozen treats. The smell of coffee was driving me nuts, and don't even get me started on the pastries. They've got sandwiches, salads, crepes – the works! Oh, and candies too. Because apparently, they're trying to turn us all into kids in a candy store. I'm not gonna lie, I'm already plotting my next visit. Maybe I'll be all grown-up and get a salad... and then completely undo that healthy choice with a massive crepe. And the visit after that? I'm thinking coffee and pastry date with myself, because why not? And you bet there'll be gelato involved every single time – sorry not sorry, ice cream! Bottom line: Caffe Stellato isn't just a gelato shop – it's like a treasure chest of yumminess right in the middle of Burlingame. Fair warning though, it might just become your new obsession. Don't say I didn't warn you! And remember, in the immortal words of Bennett: "No regrets, eat more ice cream" – or in this case, gelato!
Gelato is divine, I got thai tea and lychee, lot of flavors including many vegan flavors. Update also tried their sandwiches, fantastic
If you're looking for a place with AMAZING Italian ice cream and a wide variety of flavors (42, including vegan options) than look no further! So many amazing options, my husband and I tried the pistachio and the dulce de leche gelato while the kids had cookies and cream, strawberry, and very rocky road. The couple working there were so friendly and offered us samples. We also took a cheese cake and tiramisu to go along with the The Petto di Pollo Sandwich and The Milanese Sandwich it was amazing! Will definitely be a frequent flyer here!
So much to choose from... I chose One Scoop of LEMON COOKIE. My friends chose other flavors. Enjoy your visit!
Best Italian sandwiches I've had outside of Italy. Definitely worth a trip just for this. We got the Milanese and Speciale on ciabatta bread. The flavors are very authentic. The bread is toasted perfectly. The couple making the sandwiches are super nice too. Very glad we found this place!

The absolute Best!!!! You will not find a better gelato anywhere not even in Europe. I pretend to want to spoil my kids but really it’s for me…
They are actual sandwiches craftsmen: they know how to combine ingredients and tastes, their products are amazing (as a French, I know that this is European quality). I’m in love with their spicy touch!

Best gelato and best sandwiches!! This is our go to spot when we need a quick deli sandwich or sugar rush. We also recently got affogatos and were so happy.
Gelato’s and Sorbet all over this store. Ive got this Guava Gelato which is good, first time to try this kind of flavor. 😊 . They also have good Italian sandwiches.
The service was very good, I wanted to try many flavors, the boy behind the counter was very patient and friendly with me. They have so many flavors. I liked the one with pineapple, big pieces of pineapple in the ice cream, very tasty.
They got a good amount of gelatos that seem fun and actually well crafted. I got the mint chip because it's my favorite flavor and wasn't artificially dyed green like virtually ever other place. It's worth a stop if you're nearby!

I tried the Lavazza house coffee and the decaf at Caffe Stellato. Both were solid, dependable cups of coffee. The house blend had a smooth, slightly nutty profile with a clean finish, easy to drink and not overly acidic. It’s the kind of coffee that works well as a daily staple. The decaf was surprisingly decent. It didn’t taste flat or overly processed, which can sometimes happen with decaf. The body was a bit lighter than the regular house coffee, but it still held its flavor. Overall, good but not exceptional. A reliable stop if you want a straightforward, no-frills cup of coffee. Most people go their for the gelato so don't count on this place for coffee but their awesome desserts instead.
I wanted to like this place, but firstly these cannolis are an abomination... gravely disappointed. Smells like playdoh, tastes like frosting from a kid's birthday cake, and LOADED with sugar. Um like there's no ricotta at all. Charged way too much for this lol. Secondly, person at the front was pretty offhanded, and mean lol. There's nothing really feels authentically "homemade" about this place just feels like a resale shop tbh
Their gelato is good but customer experience isn’t great. They said they had 3 scoops for 11$ and when we got to checkout our host said that because i got them in separate cups they’re going to charge me individually per scoop. You also only get two samples. I enjoyed the gelato but I would go across the street and enjoy the salt and straw experience instead.
