We routinely drive to Burnet JUST to eat at El Rancho we live in Lago Vista. It is always worth it - great food at a fair price. This restaurant is on the smaller side, but good things come in small packages. Wait staff is warm and friendly. Their #47 Alambres is my go to and has been for years. I like what I like.

The #2 has the best Chile Rellenos I’ve ever had. Consistently wonderful. Great staff and service.

Tasty food for reasonable prices, plus some alcoholic drink choices. I have been there twice; the first evening there was only couple other tables taken, but today it was almost fully packed. Both times waiting times were reasonable. Both times I didn't have any reason to complain.

Visited this place about a month ago. I know this will sound silly, but I can't stop thinking on how much this food reminds me of back home. Delicious and made to order. Our waitress was attentive and kind. When I'm back near this area, I will FOR SURE visit

I had asada tacos. Very good. The corn tortillas held up well. They stuffed them. Their breakfast tacos are also great. Can't go wrong breakfast or dinner.

El Rancho instantly became our go-to TexMex restaurant. We tested them with an order of cheese enchiladas. They passed with ease! My favorite is the Texas plate. Their Carne guisada is awesome, and their homemade flour tortillas are ĝreat.

Best Mexican food in the area. The tortillas are not made in house which is disappointing coming from San Antonio but no one does that in this area. The food is good and the service is good also. Drinks were great! Would recommend the steak and shrimp plate! 😋

This is a small Mexican cafe, fairly simple decor. The service is excellent as they seem to have enough servers to take care of their customers without having a long wait. The food is good and the prices are very reasonable! You will never eat Mexican food at a less expensive restaurant. I've never been disappointed in the service or the food. The photo with the yellow cheddar is the tamale, enchilada, rice and beans combination plate. It was $8.50!! The other dish is the chicken enchilada verde (green sauce) with cheese combo. Both tasted great.

Great food, legit Mexican, however many of the typical should-be-gluten free items are not. My son is gluten sensitive and all he ate was cheese enchiladas and he said his tummy felt just like he had gluten. The rice is definitely not gluten free and the French fries are a little sus. If you're gluten sensitive, consider a different place.

I always order the same thing, which is awesome, ordered a taco salad one time and didn't care for it. Always have a hard time with language barrier with them, decent prices

This was our first time eating here. Small yet not to confined had room to walk through. I had the # 9 2 chicken flautas, 1 tostada, rice& refried beans. Flautas was tasty, & not too dry 🥰. Tostada was above average 👌. Rice and beans was better than most 😍. My husband ordered mini street tacos 🌮. ( He always orders the fajita quesadillas everywhere we go I’m the one who majority of the time order the street tacos. LOL GUESS it must be this beautiful weather 😂 Mini tacos were delicious 😋 he said. We were passing through. I do know we will take that route coming from San Antonio 281 all the way til Burnet. Staff were kind, and attentive. Oh one last thing very good sweet tea! 🍹

The food and service was excellent. Horchata on point! The restaurant itself is a little old-school and has cool wall paintings. The main problem is that it needs to be kept clean better. Especially the seating area and bathrooms. Food is good but cleanliness is not matching.

The food is amazing! I highly recommend their bacon wrapped shrimp smothered in cheese, which is pictured below. The lobby is a bit small, especially for the amount of service they get. But that just shows how great they are!

Enjoyed lunch on a Saturday. Parking is limited but free. Restaurant is small but pleasant inside, and we were seated right away. The restaurant has a large menu of all things Mexican. I enjoyed the Mexican plate #17 and the chips and salsa. The salsa is mild and thin textured. My Mexican food plate was a generous portion of food and tasty. They offer adult beverages. Prices are still quite reasonable. A good place for a bite of Mexican food in Burnet.

The food here is good TexMex. We tried the grilled jalipinos. Boy they were so hot. The cheese caso is white cheese so many people may not like that. I say the salsa is one of the worst I have ever been served. They do a lot of things good but skip the chips and salsa.

Sadly won’t be back. Ordered and was brought out our food with no cheese - tacos etc. The guy said “sorry if it looks a little bare we ran out of cheese.” This should have been communicated before we ordered. Assume they didn’t mention it to people before they ordered as they knew people would likely leave - however this has made me never come back to this place again sadly. So bizarre. Also no offer to bring another topping to make up for our tacos being nothing but meat and lettuce lol. Could have offered anything cilantro and onion etc - anything would have been more acceptable than a plain cheeseless mexican meal. :/

Possibly the worst plate of food I’ve had in a very long time. Ordered the biscuits and sausage gravy with scrambled eggs with cheese. Not shown in my photo because I ordered the sausage and gravy on the side which was package gravy as I expected.. but the sausage was so dry and overcooked so badly that it was darkbrown/black crumbles. The “biscuit” which was tiny and smashed flat was completely soaked in grease from the grill which is how they heat them, so that’s exactly what it tasted like. The greasy grill. The eggs were liquid eggs from a carton not fresh as I specifically asked them to be. The female server never returned to check on us, we managed to catch the male server who passed by, and informed us they couldn’t offer any other bread option that wouldn’t be grilled on the grill when i asked for a slice of toast as a replacement. No toaster. I never received the bread anyway. My bf had the barbacoa and it was greasy, and a very small amount. He was also disappointed. I realize that ordering an American breakfast at a Mexican place was going to be a risk. But if they can’t make it as offered and edible they shouldn’t offer it as a menu item at all. At check out we were not asked about our meal and never told thank you. We paid the full amount, and them knowing that we were disappointed and that I only ate 2-3 bites of my meal offered no comments at all. Just rude manners. We won’t be back. As a local who also own a food establishment i understand bad days, mistakes and often miscommunications. But the quality and service was unacceptable.

HORRIBLE service I asked for extra Corn in my Menudo they said it was impossible. I’ve never been denied I said I’ll pay extra this place is totally out of bounds. I’ll never be back even the manager couldn’t grasp extra. I Wasn’t asking anything for free I even tried to order a side of corn and still NOT possible. Small restaurants like this should be awesome all around. This one is truly a DUMP. Lousy service and horrible food! Kenny
