This was first time to Shamone for brunch and WOW, what a great experience! We went there with a group of women celebrating a milestone birthday for one. The brunch option was all you can eat, so we were able to order most of the menu to sample a little bit of everything. The food was amazing! My favorite was the Smooth Criminal, which is a blackened shrimp with cheesy grits. James, our waiter, was great; both attentive and entertaining! He even got the birthday girl sparklers for her French toast so we can sing to her! I cannot wait to come back for dinner, which looks like it would be quite the culinary experience. Thank you Shamone and James for a very filling and fun afternoon!

We have been coming to Cape May as a family for decades so we are very familiar with George’s place as a great place for breakfast. We decided to try Shamone’s brunch. We were welcomed by James, our server who was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu offerings- he was able to give very helpful suggestions. The atmosphere was welcoming, fancy without being stuffy, and modern. The shining star though was the food. The breakfast tacos, pancakes, the French toast, every item we tried was delicious and offered a variety of taste combinations that isn’t to be beat. I’ll be returning soon & as often as we can- do not sleep on this place!

We tried Shamone for the first time for dinner last summer and loved the experience. We decided to give the brunch a go this year in their new location on Ocean St and it was equally as fabulous. Our waiter James was fabulous in running through the menu and making you feel like you are the only ones in the restaurant. The PYT tots were my fave I could eat them for breakfast lunch and dinner. We will definitely be back next year!

Wow!! What an amazing and unique dining experience. James, our concierge and server made the experience absolutely superb. He was so friendly and welcoming that it was like spending time with an old friend. The food was beautifully presented and equally delicious. I insist on dining at Shamone every time I visit Cape May. There are so many fabulous items to choose from and the portions are more than ample and are quite shareable. Start with the PYT as a group appetizer - it is as delicious as it is huge! I particularly like the Monte Cristo and Steak Pita. The Bananas Foster pancake and guava spano were both absolutely yummy! I cannot say enough great things about Shamone - you will love it!

Oh what a night! Late December back in 63, or should we fast-forward to August 27, 2024 when we had our fourth annual visit to Shamone. Four years in a row, all the chefs were outshining themselves year after year accommodating our vegan needs and making the night feel extra special, with unique spinoffs and Excellent execution of each and every meal. Out of the four years coming down here in all the restaurants that I have been to in Cape May and Wildwood, James our Concierge, Maître D', Waiter, and 15 course tour guide really was the best and most memorable out of of any of the places we patronized. James has such a huge heart of servitude, and his amazing, booming, disc jockey, jovial voice really painted the evening tremendously for all of us. This night has and will go down in history, and we certainly look forward to continuing to patronize this wonderful restaurant as they really strive to exceed “the run of the mill restaurants” . Bravo and well done. Grazie Mille ( a thousand thank yous) The Soprano’s

We went for breakfast, coffee is phenomenal. All you can eat brunch. $25 p.p.. Great selection of creative options. Fresh ingredients and made to order. Our server, James, is very friendly and offered some suggestions. He even took music and song requests. Funky vibes.

Make your reservations well in advance! This is such a unique dining experience to share with a romantic partner or adventurous friends and family. I eat here every year on vacation and the chef(s) continue to whip up flavorful dishes. One of my favorites was the scallop with prosciutto wrapped asparagus 😍 I promise you won't leave hungry, and you can even opt in for some dessert. They'll also take care of you if you have a dietary restriction, thanks Shamone!

My first time going and will not be the last!! I loved everything about this place. Between the food, atmosphere and the service was amazing. Huge shout out to James being the best server!!

An eclectic vibe with many flavorful and creative dishes, as part of an ever changing menu. You’ll want the parade of little delectables to keep going. Probably my fave place to dine out in Cape May. Also super fun music and service. Can’t go wrong.

My wife and I had a great experience at this restaurant on our honeymoon. The elegant display of dishes and the atmosphere was amazing. James, the manager was a very fun, knowledgeable and engaging host.

We did the all you can eat brunch and it was awesome! Dishes were different sizes and you get to order another dish once you finish one. Everything was so tasty and the atmosphere was so fun! Service was great. Definitely want to stop back for dinner!

Highly recommend! Overall, nothing bad can be said about this place’s brunch. The server was very accommodating with vegetarian options. The ambiance was great from the art to music. All of the food was delicious, special mention to the banana foster pancakes and breakfast burrito. Parking lot with validation available.

The dinner promptly starts at 7:00 and led into a dark dimly lit room with music playing at an “appropriate” level. The mood is very hip and comfortable. The curtain of the kitchen is drawn as the server announces the 15 course tapas dinner has begun. I definitely recommend purchasing a bottle of wine of Sangria to accompany the meal. The server explains each innovative dish as it brought to your table. My wife and I enjoyed everything. The whole presentation is basically like having a show with your dinner. The server was extremely friendly and went above & beyond his service. The food was perfectly balanced and professionally executed. Even the restroom was a form of entertainment. The sign on the door said “You are about to enter the Twilight Zone. Inside there is a small radio broadcasting old episodes of the show. The chefs are extremely talented and creative. I haven’t had food of this style and quantity since visiting Spain. As for the negative reviews regarding the “Loud music” that was not the case at all. My wife and I never had to raise our voices and had no trouble hearing anything. Another negative review mentioned, the portions were too small. It’s a 15 course meal, the portions are supposed to be small. We were completely satisfied at the end. I would suggest the complainers stick to all you can eat buffets. We were totally blown away by Shamone and will be returning every time we return to Cape May.

This was so amazing trying all different kinds of exotic cuisine that we made another reservation for next week on Open Table !!! Special Thanks to Alex and Stan as there awesome descriptions kept us wanting more !!!! The Owner even came out to ask us how everything was !! My family and I have eaten at many of the restaurants in the “George’s” family of establishments. Specifically the ones in cape may. My wife and I did Shamone dinner last summer and then the breakfast this summer. 5 STARS across the board in every way possible. The quality of food is incredible, very decent price point in comparison to all other restaurants around, and the service is top notch. A special shout out to James. He recruited us in last year for dinner and then served us again this year. He was friendly, helpful, and a great person to talk with and hang out with through this unique dining experience! We will be back many times in the future! Thank you, from the Arminio Family!

If you want something fun with a refreshing style and approach, go to Shamone! When you eat at Shamone, it will be dark, it will be loud, and you’ll eat whatever the chef makes you for the night (call ahead for plant based options or allergy restrictions). You will have a multi-course menu currently priced at an affordable $55 per person (plus tax and tip), it’s BYOB and has a funky vibe! My wife and I are repeat customers and have eaten here since the beginning. It’s one of our favorite restaurants and we find the surprise menu exciting and it adds a unique element to your dinner experience. We have also had the brunch, and both dinner and brunch are worth your time! Don't forget cash only! James and Tanya offer excellent service, and James goes over the top to entertain and provide a VIP experience. All around, we recommend Shamone!

This is one of my new favorite restaurants. We went for the 15 course dinner and enjoyed every bite. The salmon course and the lamb chops were my favorite but the menu will probably be different next time we go. The ambiance was so fun and really elevated it all. Fun, top hits are played while you are there and it's dark but you can still see your food. Your eyes just need a minute to adjust from being in the sun. The service was also amazing and seamless! We can't wait to go again and see what the chef and his staff come up with!

My wife and I came to Shamone's to the new spot recently. Everything has been spot on we enjoyed every single entree that came out. James was absolutely magnificent spot on his attention to detail made our experience that much better

Definitely a great experience. The guy running the place kept us in laughter the entire time and food was incredible. Will be back for sure. Also has the perfect playlist to get you jazzy in the morning!

During summers, we stay in Diamond Beach and have visited all the Kara Group restaurants over the years. Shamone’s is undoubtedly the best, offering an exceptional experience in terms of food, service, and atmosphere. There’s no need for a menu—the chef surprises diners with exquisite multi-course creations, making it a true culinary delight. The ambience is one-of-a-kind, with dim lighting and lively music setting the tone. There’s a single seating at 7 PM. Our waiter, James, added to the remarkable experience with his friendly demeanor and extensive knowledge, explaining each mouthwatering course in detail. Shamone’s is a must-visit spot when vacationing in Cape May.

The breakfast/brunch was fabulous! The portions were very generous and the food was outstanding. Our waiter James made us feel like home, very hospitable, and made sure we had our food coming with no delay. My wife and I are definitely going back and we left happily stuffed!!

It was a great experience from beginning to end! James the concierge was very attentive! Everything had such a unique taste full of flavor. The vibe was upbeat with the music they played and in a dark setting.

The experience I had was amazing! We were able to make a reservation for 14 people (an modify the reservation, and add dietary restrictions and allergies the day of). Our server James was amazing and took good care of our large party! The food was amazing! Every dish we had was great! I can't wait to go back! The tasting menu changes every two weeks, as I understand, so going back is a must! The vibes are immaculate! If I could add a 6th star to my review I would!

We’ve been coming here for dinner for quite some time and have always loved it, but this was our first time trying breakfast—and wow, it was absolutely amazing! Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and exceeded expectations. A special shout-out to our concierge, James, who made the experience unforgettable. He was nothing short of phenomenal—warm, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. His suggestions were spot-on, his service was quick, and his friendliness made us feel right at home. Between the delicious food and the outstanding service, breakfast here is now just as much of a favorite as dinner. Highly recommend!

THIS IS THE COOLEST PLACE IN CAPE MAY! We had the nightly 15-course tasting menu, which was a very special, unique experience! Each dish was delicious - thoughtfully prepared & beautifully plated. Really appreciated that they accommodated the vegetarian in our group with equally creative dishes. We left feeling very satiated & energized from the groovy soundtrack. Do not hesitate, make a reservation for Shamone!

James was a fantastic guide to a creative culinary cornucopia. We stopped for brunch on our way to the Cape May ferry and what a gem of a spot. Music was fun and adds to the atmosphere. The plates were all well composed with excellent flavor and perfect portions. Tremendous places to go with a group of family or friends. Bravo and jam on, Shamon!

Eating brunch here was a great experience. The food is exceptional. George is a fantastic chef. James is wonderful and so so quiet… we could barely him over the music. High recommend the bananas foster pancakes!

Loved the eclectic variety of dishes with outstanding presentation and efficient service. It was unique and relaxing to have the chef choose the food for us. The vibe was fun and upbeat and our waiter James was both attentive and entertaining. Favorite dishes included Japanese meatballs, red pepper bisque, pork tenderloin with Mediterranean couscous, swordfish with zucchini and golden sauce, and flourless chocolate torte. We came for our wedding anniversary and it was a special night. The price of $55 a person was an excellent value for what we got.

Had the pleasure of enjoying a fantastic brunch this morning. Our party of 4 was completely satisfied from beginning to end. Greeted and served by the most personable and knowledgeable gentlemen. Explained everything in great detail and made the visit fun and extremely enjoyable. The $25 per person cost is by far the best value in Cape May hands down. Portions are large and in no way a "small plate" in my opinion. Highly recommend the chorizo burrito and the steak pita. Did I say the service was exceptional. I made the mistake of not confirming the acceptance of a gift certificate issued by one of the companies other properties but management graciously accepted it. Will definitely return again to try the many additional menu offerings of the brunch menu.

J-J-J-James! This guy lit up the experience and I can’t honestly understand why anyone would give this place less than a perfect score. Food (complete menu change every two weeks) 10/10. Service (James didn’t hover, but stayed available and was personable with our tables like he was someone we knew growing up) 11/10. Atmosphere (their decor and hidden gems throughout the establishment are beyond any other food service establishment in the industry) 10/10. I can’t leave without complimenting the chefs too. The flavor palate transitions were astonishingly perfect. Unfortunately, James said he only works here over summer breaks, yet we will be returning very much because of his portrayal in painting the best experience for a tasting.

The meal and preparation was amazing. Everything about this restaurant was top notch, especially the chiefs and waiter. It was a unique Cape May experience and 15 servings for a Tapas style restaurant. The server, James was very personable and attentive. We were looking at the menu outside and James invited us into the restaurant to explain everything. We book for that night. We had an amazing night.

Had a great dinner here the other night with a party of 13! James was a fantastic server who was able match our energy and was so much fun. Food was delicious and a great variety. Everyone had a favorite dish. We will definitely be coming back.

We loved everything about our dining experience at Shamone! James and Tanya were amazing servers; we never had to ask for anything, waters were filled, clean plates exchanged, and detailed descriptions of each course. The food was incredible! James came to every table offering to take pictures of diners and George came around after the meal to check on each dining party. The music was exceptional and the restroom was a treat for your senses. It’s not just dinner, it’s an experience you will love!

We came looking for a restaurant (which apparently had closed). Someone told us Shamone’s was new and the same owner as the old place. We gave it a chance when looking at the menu outside (looked good) and the very charismatic concierge James was very welcoming. We are very glad we came in. Nice eclectic and amusing decor. Waiter was great. Food options amazing. Tapas style with fixed price meal allowed for a great sampling of the food for the two of us. James made the experience especially memorable. Would definitely come back and highly recommend it. You won’t be disappointed.

Looking for a place to have breakfast James the concierge saw us walking by and invited us in. Not knowing what to expect James explained the dining format and made us feel comfortable right from the start. It was 7 of us for brunch and he made our dining experience superb. He was engaging full of stories and was on it. Would definitely come back again and highly recommend.

We had brunch at Shamone on a Friday morning and it was the highlight of our day. James, our concierge, is super friendly and high-energy in the best way. He made everyone feel very welcome. And the food is unreal, both the quality and the amount you get for the cost. Everyone should visit Shamone when they come to Cape May.

K

James was amazing!!! Food was phenomenal!!! Atmosphere was unique and in a good way! First of all their music playlist was great, had me dancing in my seat. The vibes were fun too, never been to a restaurant with a twilight zone themed restroom! How fun!! Will be back for sure! Thank you everyone for making my experience as great as it was!!

Shamone has become my new favorite restaurant! Chef George creates amazing entries, one better than the next. Our waiter, James, gave excellent service. We will definitely be back again and again.

Made reservations on a whim for a nice dinner on vacation. The entire place is amazing food is amazing, the atmosphere great, and James is the highlight of the entire visit. Highly recommend coming here. BYOB so grab a nice bottle of hawk haven wine for the cheese place. Be ready to sit back and be hungry!

Brunch was 🔥 but James the waiter? A literal hero. Spilled my entire coffee like a chaotic toddler and this man did not flinch. No shame. No judgment. Just cleaned it up with the grace of a seasoned brunch guardian angel and brought me a fresh one like it was all part of the plan. Food? Slapped. Every bite was like a hug from someone who respects your hangover. Atmosphere? Vibes immaculate. James? Deserves a raise, a bonus, and probably a key to the entire Cape May county. 10/10 would spill again.

The food was delicious and our server James was excellent. If you are looking for a variety of yummy food and a fun atmosphere, then Shamone is perfect for a group of friends or date night. The night we went, some of our favorite dishes were the peach bruschetta, fresh fish tacos, and the braised rib with perfectly cut and cooked fries. The homemade limoncello cake was a perfect way to end the 15 courses. We were already fans, but we’ll definitely be back again. 💜

J
Julian Colicchio

This was a unique dining experience that I highly recommend for anyone that enjoys tasting menus/small plates. At $55 per person I found it to be a great value - we had 12 or 13 dishes (we went for dinner). The distinct atmosphere really makes you feel the passion that these folks put into the place. Our servers, Tanya and James, were outstanding and enhanced the experience for us. We enjoyed all the dishes and found there to be a nice variety!

Great food, and our server James was excellent! The chef and staff were very accommodating to my son ( celiac disease) and my mom ( shellfish allergy)! Highly recommend this restaurant for a fun night out and great food!

This is not your friend from Spain's tapas bar. It is fusion and imaginative and delicious. It can be loud and it can be dark but it is fun. If you are looking for something different and want a culinary adventure, go here and you will not be disappointed. If you are looking for a classic dining experience, move along because this is not the place. Not sure where some of the other reviewers went. We walked away full and happy.

H
Huey Zygote

Atmosphere and service was excellent. Food quality/taste was average but presentation was disappointing compared to the original location years ago which was inquire and interesting. I’m not sure what changed. This was the third time, but first at new location. There was no effort to make presentation of the food look artistically pleasing. Would take others for an entertaining experience but not the food unfortunately.

M
Mike Gebhart

This was a weird one. Heard good things. They were nice staff. But whoa. It’s like ChatGPT was asked to create a multi course tasting menu. Things were half baked and not well thought out.

A
Ashley

I have never written a negative review, and hate to do so of a local restaurant, but my husband and I were truly stunned at how bad the food was at Shamone. We're still confused about how it has such positive reviews. We left a little shell-shocked, like we'd been Punk'd. Not only was the food worse than mediocre, but the dishes came out cold. We probably could have lived with this, but paying $55 to just try and get through the meal really ruined our night and part of our trip.

M
Michelle Miller

When we came in, we were the first people there, with a reservation. It seemed to start off well, with the Waiter/potentially owner(only waiter there) welcoming us and describing what would occur. He told us to order the tater tot dish first, which was honestly the best dish. It went downhill after this. We ordered coffee, and before we could finish our first cup, he brought a second, which would have been thoughtful, but by the time we got to it, it was cold. He also did not bring additional creamer, or a spoon to stir the coffee. We then proceeded to order our second round of brunch tapas, and about 20 mins later, the waiter came back and asked what we wanted for our second go around. Finally the second round was served, and the shrimp and grits (probably could have been the best dish) was served ice cold. There was shredded cheese, which was not melted at all. The steak pita dish also came with this round, and the pita was rock hard, could have broken a tooth. We then tried to put in our third round, and the waiter told us he needed to give the chef a break. We then had to ask for butter, which he took off the table next to us (with another family) and gave to us. He then cleared some plates and an orange juice jug from their table onto our table. What the hell! Finally we did not get ANY replacement silverware, even when switching from savory food to sweet food. Whereas the table next to us was getting everything without having to ask. We also felt shell shocked. The concept could have been great, but it was very poorly executed. Not sure why there was one waiter for the whole restaurant. Also not sure where the great reviews came from. I went to the bathroom multiple times, and could not figure out where the light was and had to use my cell phone light. Overall major disappoint.

J
JayC

Just want to preface by saying this is the first review I have ever written… Do not go here… I can’t say enough bad things about this place. From start to finish it was the weirdest thing I’ve ever been apart of. The atmosphere is really weird and makes no sense, never mind the loud music and low lighting but all mismatched chairs that are different heights, odd posters on the wall and a Twilight Zone themed bathroom with the show playing really loud and toilet paper nailed to the wall? All the windows have black out curtains and another curtain hanging in between the dining area and the “foyer”… just an intensely weird atmosphere that made us feel uneasy. So confusing and disorienting. Some of the food was obviously frozen, most was clearly store bought with some courses being soggy arugula and dressing on a plate. Genuinely shocked at how terrible every single thing was. I still think we might have been on a prank show or something. I can not stress this enough… SO BAD. SO ODD. NOT GOOD AT ALL. Go anywhere else and I guarantee it will be better. The only good thing is that it was so terrible that my wife and I are laughing about it. As far as the 5 star reviews? I think they must be bots or something. Based on our experience there is no way on earth anyone has ever enjoyed a meal here.
