Le Grand Capriccioli Reviews
My experience at Le Grand restaurant, located within the iconic Cala di Volpe hotel in Sardinia, was truly exceptional on every level. The restaurant masterfully blends Italian elegance with Mediterranean charm, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Sardinian coast — creating a dining atmosphere that’s both luxurious and memorable. We began the evening with the watermelon salad, a refreshing and artfully presented dish. The natural sweetness of the watermelon was perfectly balanced with the subtle saltiness of a light cheese and the fresh aroma of mint leaves. It was a bright and invigorating start that set the tone for the rest of the meal. Next came the goat kid meat pasta, which was nothing short of exquisite. The meat was tender, delicately seasoned, and full of rich, earthy flavor. The pasta itself was clearly handmade, with a fresh and perfectly al dente texture that complemented the depth of the sauce beautifully. It was a hearty and comforting dish that still managed to feel refined. But the true highlight of the evening was the shrimp pasta, which was prepared live in front of us. This wasn’t just a dish — it was an interactive experience. The aroma that filled the air during its preparation was mouthwatering, and once served, it delivered on every level. The shrimp was fresh and succulent, cooked with precision, and the sauce carried the briny essence of the sea, enhanced with hints of garlic and citrus. It was a vibrant, flavor-packed creation. The service at Le Grand was impeccable — attentive, discreet, and deeply knowledgeable. Every detail, from the presentation of the dishes to the flow of the meal, was handled with professionalism and care. In short, dining at Le Grand felt like a true culinary journey — a blend of tradition, innovation, and artistry in one of the most beautiful settings in Sardinia. A must-visit for any food lover seeking a memorable gourmet experience.
Not cheap but recommendable. We chose the menu. I don't understand the bad reviews in any way. The restaurant was a little pearl. The dishes and ingredients were mostly from the region and very traditional. The service was extremely friendly. Sometimes a little too much for you, but trying very hard. Thank you very much. The food was the best we had in Sardinia. A little tip from us: add prices on the website and on the map. That makes things easier. The same goes for the wine list. The sommelier was wonderful and we enjoyed a fabulous Sardinian wine. We have been there on 4/10/21. *** Summary *** Price / performance: 3/5 Food: 4.5 / 5 Service: 4.5/5 Atmosphere: 4.8/5
Excellent! The service was outstanding and the staff incredibly polite and helpful. Every dish we tried was very enjoyable. The smoked salmon, the wild boar ham with goat cheese and figs, the seafood fregola, the lobster with hollandaise, and the soufflé were our favorite dishes. As we were guests of the hotel the menu price was half of what it would normally be, which of course was great, but it would be worth it regardless.
No doubt about it, this is an expensive restaurant. Knowing that going in, my friends & I had one of the best dining experiences at this restaurant (one of three operating within the resort/hotel). Aside from the outstanding food, what made it special was the service. We were initially placed at a table in the middle of the dining room & it made us uncomfortable. When we made a polite request, the manager instructed the staff to rearrange the tables a bit to create a table by the window & we were moved there without fuss. Though this was a pricey restaurant, everyone from captain, sommelier to serving staff was never snooty/condescending. The servers were also very gracious in navigating our countless photo snapping, preparing the food for serving & ensuring not to intrude on other diners. The food itself was superb - super fresh & tasty seafood, pasta, vegetables, petite desserts & table side prepared cake with trio of sauce. All perfectly paired with local wine recommended by the expert sommelier & espresso to accompany the dessert. Be sure to take a walk around the rest of the grounds around the restaurant. Can be a totally romantic experience if you book it around 7:30 or 8 PM to enjoy the sunset.
Great place, stunning view, amazing decor, perfect service.
Incredible spot, worth a visit. Amazing cocktails.
We are at this restaurant whilst staying at the hotel. The service was very friendly and of high standard. The food was all delicious with large portions. The price of the 4 course meal if you are staying as a guest at the hotel is really reasonable considering the standard you receive for it. The menu is extensive, over all I would recommend. Our standouts were the swordfish pasta and the lamb ribs on herb crust.
Le Grand at the iconic Hotel Cala di Volpe in Porto Cervo. The dining hall was designed by French architect Jacques Couëlle using curving, irregular plaster walls and wooden sculptures. The menu features Mediterranean classic like seafood and handmade pastas. There are a few modern items like ceviche as well. Service is formal but efficient.
Nice but expensive.
It was way over priced very slow service and really unacceptable it is a shame to see such an institution being so rigid and not customer centric. The place is so beautiful but I really don’t recommend the restaurant.
