Le soufflé Carmel Reviews
Such a lovely experience, quiet, intimate and very special. The owners (soufflé master husband in the kitchen, and wife expertly runs front of house) have created such a unique and wonderful treat. There are options for vegetarian preferences, and wine list is small but well curated. They use Verve Coffee from Santa Cruz, which we love. A special occasion place for us, and we can’t wait for the next visit!
I've tried Soufflés at 2 star Michelin restaurants in France. These souffle taste just as good in my opinion. I tried 3 soufflés the garlic with crab sauce, chocolate with ice cream, and the passion fruit with mango. They were all wonderful but my favorite was the garlic. I will be back to try a different savory and sweet souffle. The salad was also amazing. I highly recommend coming here for a unique dining experience. There are not very many restaurants in the United States with such high quality soufflés as Le Soufflé. So it's worth a visit when you're on vacation in Carmel if you want a taste of France. The service was also top notch. Thank you for the memorable experience.
A quaint restaurant staffed by folks who are doing it for the love of it. The service is very personal. They are friendly and the food is amazing. We had the prefix menu for $78 PP which came with a freshly made salad. It was sliced sugar peas with carrots and herbs. The sauce was buttermilk style ranch , but herbs were amazing. For main course we had the crab savory soufflé. The desert was amazing. We both had the Grand Marnier. All in all it was amazing.
Absolutely fantastic. The soufflés were truly amazing, excellent wines selected to pair with the menu. This is an intimate gem like few other place I have dined. Reservations are taken no more than 3 weeks out and they have very few seatings so plan accordingly.
Words cannot express how much i appreciate Le Soufflé . The food, service and ambience were 5++ stars. The sugar pea salad was delightfully light , followed by the crab soufflé and finished by a passion fruit/mango soufflé. Wowwwww ! And I am very hard to please.
An amazing meal. The starters aren't souffles, but almost everything else is. The atmosphere speaks of refinement, which nicely complements the food. Wine pairings (all French) are available by the glass or bottle; almost all the ones we tried were great (the Bordeaux was merely good!). Small niggles: we would have preferred the sauce with the Grand Marnier dessert to have been warm (but apparently the chef disagrees); and we could have done with a bit more bourguignon sauce. But these are nit picks on an otherwise wonderful meal. Highly recommended.
Hands down one of my favorite meals! I had never had a soufflé entree before and was blown away with the taste. The restaurant is also incredibly cozy and both our server, Becka and the owner, Lisa were over the top sweet and incredibly down to earth. We were unsure what to order (for both food and wine) and Lisa made sure to take the time to walk us through the menu and helped to pair wine with each of our courses. As an added plus, we found out they use organic, pasture raised eggs from a local farm and it seems like they live a great life! Listen to the 5 star reviews because this place is worth the hype
It's a very small place but we were able to get in though for dessert service between 1-2pm😁 Souffle are so legit!! Fluffy and magical and fantastic!
We were so glad this little elegant little French souffle place has opened! The souffle centered menu will be such a draw offering warm comfort on a cool evening by the sea. The wine list, attentive staff, and friendly owner are real stars!
An amazing french restaurant that doesnt dissapoint on any of their souffle's. I had the chicken liver pate, mushroom souffle, and grand marnier souffle. All were excellent. Great staff and really classy ambiance.
The atmosphere, the food, the service was absolutely amazing. Soufflé is not an easy dish to make and the chef absolutely mastered it. Thank you! We will be back.
Oh my soufle!!! If you visit Carmel-By-The-Sea without eating here, your visit is not complete. The food is mouth watering and the service is 2nd to none!!! Authentic French cuisine with genuine local service. This place is a must!!!
Excellent food, amazing soufflés, possibly best I’ve ever tasted. (Soufflé is allthey served at the time, not sure about now)

A beautiful lunch experience I won’t forget! The crab soufflé was perfection.
In all our years of going to Carmel we had never tried Le Souffle and finally remedied that this week. We went with a friend so tried a bunch of different menu items and all were great. It’s such a cute, tiny spot and the service was very friendly (and gave recommendations when asked which I love versus when servers are wishy washy). The wine list is very small but very well curated. Definitely fun dinner for a change of pace
Service was unmatched. I was very thirsty and they were so on top of refilling my drink that I didn't have to lift a finger despite having a carafe at the table. I started with the grilled nectarine salad. It was delicious! I had the souffle with lobster sauce as my entree. Honestly, I would order something else in the future. The dill was overpowering, but the lobster meat was cooked perfectly. The absolute best part of the meal was the raspberry souffle for dessert. It was like diving into raspberry air, the flavor was so well balanced and felt so fresh and light. It was perfection.
We really enjoyed this little Carmel gem. Romantic and quaint atmosphere with great service. Becca provided wonderful recommendations and she really took excellent care of my husband and me. We each had a 3 course meal and literally everything we tried was delicious. We each ordered different things so we could share and experience each dish offered. Becca had perfect wine recommendations for each course. I highly recommend Le Soufflé. It is quite a unique dining experience.
Le Souffle is outstanding! Fabulous food, incredible service, and a charming atmosphere!! We first ate at Le Souffle in December 2023 for dinner and it was superb! This time, I celebrated my 70th birthday for lunch with my husband and friends! We were all AMAZED! Delicious salad, phenomenal crab souffle, and scrumptuous chocolate souffle. My husband loved his passion fruit souffle. I loved the attention to detail with the special antique serving pieces and the incredibly attentive service. LE SOUFFLE IS THE PLACE TO GO TO IN CARMEL! We LOVE IT!!! It one of those memorable experiences you will not want to miss!
Great experience here with excellent duck and cheese savory soufflés and apple and chocolate sweet soufflés. Very kind and professional owner hostess. Thank you!

This place was good but i will give you my honest opinion:) the lardons & fromage soufflé was excellent! it tasted like cheese and bacon. The chocolate soufflé was good but I have had better chocolate soufflés. The strawberry soufflé was a definite pass* it felt like you were eating raw egg whites with a strawberry flavor… I’m glad we tried it but we’re probably not coming back due to the ridiculous price for the meal we got… and the ambience was okay but i wish it felt more authentic especially paying 220$ for a lunch for 2 people. (they’re only open for lunch)
The soufflé was very good. The service was attentive but not too overbearing. The biggest issue with this place is the exclusivity. You have to book weeks in advance. They’re only open. Monday to Friday and only for a few hours over lunch. It seems more like someone’s hobby restaurant. Even with a table open. People get turned away. I know soufflés are a very timely endeavor and preparation is involved, however when all you do is soufflé I think you could make it more accessible to everyone. Stay away from the strawberry soufflé
