BLVD Burger Castro Valley Reviews
Tried this spot yesterday, and we ordered online and drove from Alameda Beach. It's well worth it. A good burger in the Bay Area is worth going to multiple times, and this specific Boulevard Burger is a friend of mine!
I absolutely love this place! Their burgers are super delicious and reasonably priced considering how much you get. The shakes are awesome! Also if you love beer (like I do, and I only drink the good expensive stuff lol) they have a beer called Shipwrecked on tap that is phenomonal! The staff is always very professional to me and very courteous! Thanks guys! I'll be there everytime I want somw good food and beer!
Sorry I have no pics because that salmon filet burger was that damn good. So good I had to write a review. This was my first time coming here and it won’t be my last. The staff was pleasant and the place was very clean.
Nice staff and great food. Granted, I've only had the Bronco burger but it's so good that I can't bring myself to try anything else. But they have a fairly large menu and a nice ambiance with large tv's for sports viewing.
I've had a number of Bay Area burgers and thought I'd had it all. When I tried Boulevard Burger it took me less than a week before I HAD to go back and get another burger! The malts were almost as expensive as my meal itself, but honestly the taste made up for it.
Best burger I've had in a long time!! The customer service was amazing and the food was delicious! Fresh ingredients, cooked perfectly, friendly staff...perfect place for lunch or dinner!
I had the "plain old" Blvd burger - it was delicious and quite a bargain considering how big it was! So juicy and flavorful without relying on a bunch of salt. The fresh baked Semifreddis bun was amazing too (I usually opt for a lettuce wrap but this was enough to tempt me). Inside it gets pretty stuffy, but the outside seating is shady and cool and allows dogs (but not alcohol - you have to drink that inside). They get pretty busy at noon but if you come at 2pm there's no one there.
Found this burger joint on are way back to Stockton, my boy Big Ern used to live here in Castro valley. Best burger and fries quality ingredients service excellent. Will be back thanks Blvd burger
BLVD Burger is our favorite burger place. If you want a good burger, this is the place to go. We have never had anything less than a great burger here. The meat is perfectly seasoned with amazing flavor. The garlic fries are great too.
I travel across the United States due to work and taste burgers from all over. From dive bars and mom & pops places to the "big fancy guys." Boulevard burger has one of the best burgers I've ever had. If im in California and I have time to make it after work and before they close, I'm there! If you have any doubts, let the burger do the talking.
Burgers were very good. A fries order is large enough for TWO people. Well most people. Got the seasonal peppermint mocha shake and it was delicious. They serve in a milkshake glass but also bring the extra that was still in the mixing cup out to you. They have some outside seating and the indoor seating is well spaced out. Ordered 2 burgers, 2 fries, 2 shakes, and a soda; $46
Food is great - I love the brisket burger. Online ordering is always accurate and timely. Great local place. We order takeout 2-3 times per month. Can't wait until the pandemic is over and we can done in again.
Great food and service. They also have a full bar option!!! Homemade desserts too!
No condiments on Boulevard Burger, just lettuce and red onion. Easy to remove if needed. I didn't. Great for those with allergies. Onion rings are Great. Burger is Super. Yummy 😋
Such a really nice and low-key place to eat with straighforward, delicious food. Our waiter Egor was polite and courteous. He gave us advice on some of the more popular options on the menu and was overall a great waiter!! Whether you're looking for delectable burgers or refreshing milkshakes BLVD Burger & Grill is definitely a must visit!
I wish this place had more recognition as the food is very good! Great customer service with a welcoming environment. Consider me a regular moving forward.
The menu here offers a good selection of burgers and sides. They have drink options of soda, beer, and water. The food is flavorful and filling. Pricing is fair. The staff is friendly. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Indoor seating area has a few wall mounted TV screens showing various sports events. Pretty laid back atmosphere.
The Brisket Blend Burger was soooo good!! So glad we found this place. Service was great. Diner was clean. Great little spot ❤️
All the burgers are great and the salad is also really yummy. The fried jalapeños are excellent and a good addition to any of the burgers. Prices are fair, especially right now, and it's all good, fresh stuff.
BLVD has had an interesting journey since they opened. They started out with a bang and great food quality, and then I feel it may have fallen off. However, due to a shake and burger craving we found ourselves back here. My take - they have returned to basics, and are once again in the conversation with Val's (a NATIONALLY recognized burger). Portion sizes feel a more generous, especially on the actual burgers and sandwiches themselves. Chicken was done perfect, burgers and shakes were all great and the sides felt as good as ever. I am glad to see them back up to their "A" game.
Delicious burgers at this place and you can customize them however you like. I always get my mom the tuna melt and she likes it as well.
We needed a place to meet with a friend for lunch and sort of randomly chose this place and wow what a lucky find. Hamburgers are delicious and the selection is large. Highly recommend a visit.
Awesome place. The customer service is on point! Such friendly employees. Outdoor seating is spacious. Black bean burger with guacamole was terrific. Very filling and fresh, not too oily or heavy. Milkshake was awesome (how can you mess that up lol) and sweet potato fries hit the spot and was a nice large portion! Definitely recommend.
I have lived in Castro Valley for 4 years and have always driven by this place but never tried it. I was craving a cheese burger and chili fries and decided to try this place on a whim. I got the Hot Stuff burger (cheese burger with beer battered jalapenos) with chili cheese fries, and my fiancee got the beyond burger with a side of potato wedges. My burger was cooked perfectly medium, and the beer battered jalapenos were amazingly crunchy. I made it a double but in retrospect a single patty would have been more than enough. My fiancee loved her beyond burger and devoured it before I even got half way done with mines. The potato wedges were super crispy outside and well seasoned while fluffy on the inside. My chili cheese fries were okay, but the chili was good. They make it in house and add pieces of brisket to it. Overall I'm disappointed that I waited so long to try this place. I will be back. OH! The burger buns! I don't know where or what buns that use, but the buns I tell you. The buns make the burger!
Steak sandwich my goto, garlic fries to keep Dracula away.
Excellent burgers! I had the mushroom one, it tasted great, the ingredients were fresh. Lettuce and grilled onions really made the burger stand out. My wife had the bronco burger, it had BBQ sauce and bacon, I had a taste and it is also excellent. We'll be back soon.
I have only been here once, but I was pleasantly surprised. The burgers are a bit pricey, but they are not your regular fast food burgers. My husband got the blackened chicken sandwich combo with fries and a soda and was happy with his choice. I got the Mexicali burger and I was happy to be asked how I like the meat cooked. Most places will serve it how they think it's best and not by preference. It was just spicy enough to say it had a kick to it. I also tried a bowl of plain chilli and it was tasty as well. I plan on going back :)
Fresh ingredients, well prepared, and delicious burgers and fries. There were 3 people in our group for a late lunch. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The service is friendly, helpful and polite. I highly recommend Boulevard Burger to anyone who is looking for a nice local place to enjoy a great burger!
My hubby has been raving about their burgers for some time now so we decided to head over so I could try them. They were really good and stayed hot the entire time we ate. I was impressed by the size of the patty as well. We decided to bring our dog with us and sat in the outdoor patio area to eat. What a great experience as the employees greeted him as well. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for that old school burger taste that the average fast food chain can't deliver.
Was sooooo good! Will gladly eat here anytime. 😋 burger was perfect and fries were amazing. And the waiter kept checking in on us. Saul was our waiter and he was very good!
Food was delicious, service was fast. Their French fries 🍟 were great and the onion rings too. The only part of the dining experience that had gotten messed up was that we had an earthquake right before we finished our food. It was a quick jolt and that was it, we sat there for a few before deciding to leave.
Delicious food and cool atmosphere to catch a game with friends. Legit Burger Joint! 🍔🍟🤤😋👍
Fries were great and big selection of burgers. Would recommend
Great place to have a burger and root beer float any day of the week! Great location and excellent spot to catch a football game or two.
Your typical local burger joint. Nice spacious parking area. When I came by, it was a bit empty. Ordered their standard Blvd burger with a double patty and garlic fries. I could smell the garlic before it even came out. A good sign that it’s a legit garlic fries. Burger looked great. The patties are 1/3 lb so getting the double was a bit much. I would personally ask for extra onions. I would love to give this place 5 stars for the food but I have high standards for burgers. Still giving 5 stars overall because I had a great experience. The burger didn’t seem to have enough “beefiness”. It also felt like it was more medium-well than medium as ordered. Lastly, seemed like the burger could benefit from being salted. However, it was still a great burger. As a single, the ~$10 price felt like a great deal. The fries also seemed like a good deal at about $5. For what you get, other places would charge upwards of $8-10. Fries were ok though. Definitely enough garlic, but not quite what I’d want in fries. 100% would come here again.
Been wanting to try this place for years and the opportunity finally presented itself to stop in for a meal with my kids. Boulevard Burger did not disappoint. Despite the Burger name, it has a wide variety of other foods on the menu as you enter and work your way to the ordering station. Greeted by a friendly young lady with an actual smile and inquiry about how we were doing. The atmosphere was very nice with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating where we could watch the World Baseball Classic (Team USA vs Great Britain). Food was delicious, fresh, and good serving sizes. Had tbe opportunity to let another friendly young lady know how much I had been wanting to try their place. She was very appreciative. Will definitely be back to sample more.
Food was good. Inside was a little warm should’ve had the AC on.
When price is not an issue, you will have an excellent burger or hot dog at Blvd. Burger. First class quality sandwiches. They have optional varieties of beef to pick from. But all are top of the line, and you can taste the difference! But they are pricey…
When I went the very first time they had really fast service and my burger was hot and everything and was perfect but when I came to second time with my girlfriend it took 20 to 30 minutes to get my food and my food was cold and I didn't want to wait again so I just ate it
Beyond burger was correctly cooked and the patty was very generous. Cole slaw side was a good compliment to the burger. Wife had regular burger, grilled onions and fries which she enjoyed. Both cooked to her taste.
The burgers are delicious and the fries are perfect! My only issue is the location. This town is..... awkward to put it nicely. Sorry, Blvd Burger! When the atmosphere from the locals makes me lose my appetite every single time, I have to take at least one star off.
Good options for a burger joint. Veggies (lettuce and tomato) are fresh and tasty. Most importantly, they once corrected an order error (that I made) free of charge. Pros: Good food options, well prepared Serves beer; shakes are good too Nice seating, outdoor options too Employees seem to take pride in working there Cons: Slightly Awkward parking lot Pricier than fast food A little loud indoors for a date night Regular order is a Cajun Chicken burger for me, Burger and (pumpkin) shake for the Lady -- chicken strips for the young kids to split, and a couple types of fries to share. Better than a pizza night IMHO.
Honestly, we came here to meet up with some friends to check out some cars on Castro Valley's cruise night. The restaurant sits at an intersection where the parade of cars u-turn and cruise back down the other way- you get to see them coming and going, and from their outdoor seating area, it was a prime spot. We ate before we got here, but since we're taking up their seats, we ordered up. My son ordered the Mexicali burger, and despite me being satiated from a previous meal, my inner fat kid said, "let's keep it light, we'll get the cheesesteak sandwich. "...🙃 ...Aaand I finished it. The meat was a little on the dry side, and it needed more cheese. Offered my son a bite, and he just grunted. He offered his, and Fat Kid obliged. The Mexicali has a nice heat to it. I'd get that next time, of course with a more empty stomach. Despite how my sandwich came out, it's worthy of another trip here just seeing on the menu how many ways they can serve burgers and fries. Fries. Man, I should've just ordered those come to think of it.
My husband has been here before with friends, but tonight was my 1st visit. I have the salmon caesar salad & it was pretty good. Simple flavors but spot on. The fish was moist and nicely grilled. Everybody in our group enjoyed their meal. We will go back again soon.
This is a great place for a delicious burger. I am always pleasantly surprised by how tasty they are. The sides are good and there's beer on tap. I've never had to wait for a seat and it's very kid friendly.
Great burgers! Best in CV -by far!! Nice selection of specially burgers, staff has been great every time I've been there (which is quite a few). Can be a bit pricey but you can taste where the extra money goes. Good flavorful burgers - meat is really good!
The thing that sticks out for me was that after our meal came to the table we saw only one order of fries. I told our server and he showed me the order ticket which clearly had only one order of fries. I started to get up to order another and our server brought an order of fries to our table. He wouldn't take any money from me and explained that the person who took the order probably didn't hear the order correctly through the mask, glass partition, and all the background noises of the kitchen. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!
Your 50/50 is amazing, So good that i want to sing You can order both fries and onion rings 50/50, burger with beef and bacon with you, boy was I taken perfect blend and not too salty because other places don't do it well you see Good solid burger, slightly on the small side, but if you eat it with a side of fries, then you're good. Burger was very tasty, and it comes with a lot of condiments. The 50/50, since it has bacon, needs to be cooked medium well, and so it was with a little bit of pink. Solid burger, I'd come here again. Oh, but it's not too cheap, burger, fries and drink will run you about $10-12 so it's not extra value meal.
Walk up to place order. Served to table. Food was great. Veggie burgers cooked on separate grill. Dine-in shakes more than enough for two people. Fun atmosphere.
Got the blvd burger and it's pretty good, but nothing unique from my experience. Good service, with good serving time. I went on a hot day and it was pretty hot inside too with seemingly no air conditioning, but I ate to-go so it wasn't a big deal for me. Would recommend, if you're looking for a quick genuine burger.
Really solid tasty burgers and friendly staff. I’d ordered a fairly large complicated order and I thought they had messed one of the items up. They were kind enough letting me know my own error and I’m actually a bit surprised they got everything right so kudos to them for that. Specialty burgers are pricey but really good and especially loved the fried jalapeños on the hot stuff burger. The curly fries are super crispy and not to be missed but I’ll probably pass on the onion rings next time. Noticed they have a full bar and mimosas! Didn’t try the drinks but hope to be back. Happy to support a local business.
It was really good. Order at the counter, sit down and get served. The place wasn't too busy so we got all our food in under 10 minutes. And with 3 kids and my hunger that was great. Burgers were delicious. The kids got kid hot dogs which were huge. Root beer floats and milk shakes were great. Bathroom was clean. Parking is good. We will be back.
Great customer service. Has the WESTERN STYLE BURGER WITH ONION RINGS. I THINK THEY'D DO WELL WITH A MORE DURABLE BREAD. OR MAYBE BRIOCHE. BUT OVERALL EVERYTHING WAS GOOD. THE SERVICE WAS AWESOME.
This is a fairly spacious local burger place. Lots of choices on the menu. We got burgers with bacon. $3.5 for bacon! It was just ok. A bit dry. The mushroom burger was juicier because the onions and mushrooms. Place is cute though!
It's a solid burger. I got the Hot Stuff, and it was pretty good. The Curly fries were fried well, but pretty basic. The Garlic Fries were crispy and garlicky. The Milk Shake we got was really well made. There are better burgers out there, but you won't be let down if you choose to go here for a burger.
Everything is always good like a classic burger diner should be. Consistent, standard burger. My only complaint is the portions for the kids meals. The chicken tender meal is 2 tenders and fries. If kids goes up to age 10 or 12, this is not a sufficient meal.
My husband and I order from Boulevard quite frequently. The salads are really good, and they accommodate customizations on those which we appreciate. The burgers are clearly good, and it has turned into our preferred burger spot. We like to dine in when it's quiet, and service was really accommodating then as well.
Looks like my burger took a detour to the "Well-Done Zone" when I specifically ordered the "Medium Boulevard." It's not a burger, it's a high-stakes drama – will it be rare or will it be well-done? The suspense is killing me, and apparently, so is the price! 🍔😅
After driving by this a zillion times, I finally got to try the burgers. I got the blue cheese burger and the hot dog. The potatoes are very well cooked so if not consumed within 10 seconds it'll harden like paper mache. It's okay quality, but definitely not to Habit standards. The place can't decide it it wants to be a food truck or a restaurant.
I think the food was OK. The server's are really quiet. I wasn't a fan of the chili cheese fries because it isn't shredded cheddar, it's made with cheese wiz. The price is great but the dining area isn't very clean. Everything is sticky and the bottles are terribly dirty. I think it just needs some love or a little more attention.
Fries are not included with your burger and it was still very expensive! To top it off, the burger was tasteless. Disappointed 😞
I was really craving burger and went here. Got steak sandwich. It was fine, good bun, but besides steak there's just mushrooms and onions. Nothing special about the taste and steak was meh. Something was missing - I kept squeezing ketchup there to get a better taste - something I never do with a good burger. I paid $20 total for just Sandwich and regular tip - no fries and no drink. Giants are just as good or better and much cheaper.
Came here with my son and ordered the Sunny burger (pictured) fries and a salmon burger. The Sunny burger came out in a timely manner by itself. The salmon burger came out about 10 minutes later, and the fries didn't come out until we were finished eating and about to get up and cancel them. The food was very good but the kitchen staff really needs to get it together! Would have given 5 stars with better timing and have our meals delivered together and complete.
I've been twice. Apparently the friends I've been with say the regular burgers are good but I find their veggie burgers pretty tasteless even the impossible burgers. To give them any flavor I have to add loads of ketchup which happened both times. I won't likely return
Is this place under new ownership? Things are very different behind the counter. Super slow, no acknowledgement of customers just standing there for 12 mins. The food looked very different - and not in a good way. It used to be younger people taking orders and making the food. It was all Mexican adults today. The portions were ridiculous. My 6 yo old's burger was $17 for a kid's meal with a measly # of fries. I got a box of fries and three 2-3 inch tiny chicken stripes. No drink. We spent $37! We won't be back any time soon.
The food was prepared fresh and was of good quality. Everything just was a little flat because it lacked seasoning. The chili had a lot of quality ingredients in it, including various cuts of meat, but it needed some salt to really bring the flavors out. The fries were cooked beautifully and were everything a great fry should be. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and they were the one thing that we had that was seasoned impeccably. My burger fell flat again because of the seasoning, or lack thereof. The toppings were of great quality and flavor, and the bun was absolutely delightful, but even those things could not salvage the lackluster (albeit perfectly cooked to the requested temperature) burger patty. All it would have needed to make it truly sensational would have been some salt and pepper on the patty before it went on the flat top. It's such a little thing, but so crucial.
Started with a register transaction that was inattentive and borderline rude, ketchup and mustard bottles are reused with worn labels with questionable contents. Ice machine did not work, so staff set out self serve bucket of ice on counter next to soda fountain that anyone can stick their filthy hands into,( BTW, against all food safety rules) moving on to the beat up, never deep cleaned dining area, ceiling is dirty and crooked, can't count how many times the cook came out to watch the Warriors game on the TV, while I waited for a underwhelming burger and a tiny side of fries, my gal ordered the onion rings, there were 7, when sides are this chinsy, and place looks like this, I sense the end is near. Poorly managed and run.
Found this place through Google Maps (oddly) - whenever we've searched for "best burger" through Yelp, Google, etc it's never listed in the first 2 pages, we see why. But we really wanted to give them a try and support local. If you're looking for a selection of burgers, this is the place - they do burgers and know how to grill them. But if you're looking for a composed, "gourmet"ish burger, you may want to reconsider. In general, the burger and sandwich were okay - slightly overcooked and hugely lacking flavor. The regular buns were "regular" - they were sticky, lumped in your mouth, and didn't really hold the sandwiches. Hot Stuff Burger - was not hot (really depends on the season of the jalapenos). The beef was slightly overcooked, and the amount of lettuce / tomatoes drowns the overall flavor. The burger reminded us of something you would get at a picnic / bbq. Salmon Burger - the fishy smell that hits you as you open the box was not appetizing. Luckily it didn't taste that way, but same as the beef - made the fish dry (may also be due to frozen cut vs fresh). Needless to say, I couldn't finish my sandwich, it was just too tough for me. Side of fries - thin fries, which got a bit soggy as they were probably boxed while hot. Cooked well through, but the box experience may really impact the overall experience.
Not recommended. I ordered a burger with cheese and bacon. The patty was small and the meat was undercooked, pink on the inside. There was a tiny piece of cheese on it, much smaller than what you would get Wendy's or Nations. The wife ordered a burger with guacamole. That was also undercooked. She also had fries. There was plenty but she didn't like them. Finally, the meal was definitely overpriced for what you got.
It was fine, but $12 for a standard burger with no fries or drink is a little too pricey. To get a beer and a filling meal it would probably be $40-50 per person. You can get a comparable burger at someplace like Carl's Jr for much less and have it be the same quality/taste. Besides serving beer and wine there is nothing that makes this place any better.
Food was overrated & overpriced. I tried 3 sides, dessert and burger. was mediocre for a sit in burger style place. Nations in my opinion, is better. Staff was friendly place pretty clean. Food wasn't bad but not great.
I'll start this off with the food then the service. The burger was amazing. Meat was jucy and flavorful, lettuce was chrisp, tomatoes weren't all sad and soggy, grilled onions where just right all in all best burger I've had in a while. . They did not have blue moon or 2 items on there special menu. could be a supply issue so I can't speak to that. I ordered a burger and had to ask for lettuce and tomato that they didn't want to put on. That being said the service was horrible. The lady taking our order was rude and short and didn't want to be there. The boy cleaning the tables was off in his own world and couldn't take time to reply to our questions. No condimentsor napkins at any of the tables. All in all amazing food horrible service if you can get past bad service than a great spot.
I’ve visited this place a few times over the years and they are not worth the price. They cheat you out of good portioning especially for the price that you’re paying for this food. If you want a good burger, you’d be better off going to The Habit or In N Out!
This place seems to have gone down hill. The last time I ate there, it seems as if the burger patties had shrunk considerably. They were thin like a McDonald's patty. My girlfriend got the brisket burger, which used to be delicious, and I'm pretty sure they just gave her a regular thin patty also. For the money at a place like this, I would expect a fat juicy burger. All of the different types of fries are great and the potato wedges are amazing. Pretty good Chili also. Unfortunately the main attraction would be the burger and it was definitely lacking
So I went here when they first opened and I was not impressed. The meat was flavorless and dry. I had asked for my burger to be medium-well. I decided that I wouldn't come back. Well tonight I had a moment of weekness. I'm pretty sure the meat patties are premade somewhere else and bought frozen. I'm done and never coming back. I mean a burger place should be making patties by hand with fresh meat. It's the key ingredient and you just CANT mess with that!
I don't see lots of people eating inside but lots of cars in the parking lot. Hmmm does that make sense? And for that matter, how could they stay in business? Anywho, my husband and I tried this place and it's was just ok. It tasted like frozen burgers that heated up. For me personally, I would go somewhere else. Or better yet, buy patties at Costco and enjoy grilling them at home with some watermelon and corn salad on the side.
ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK YOUR ORDER!!! I have been coming here off and on for the last few years, and over time, I've noticed that their service has become lacking. Tonight I ordered two burgers (one a lettuce wrap, one with a regular bun), chicken tenders, and a salad. One of my burgers was made wrong (I received 2 lettuce wrap burgers instead of just one) and the croutons on my salad were stale. I've had issues with my burgers in the past (soggy bun, missing condiments) and I've usually just ignored it. But after tonight's experience, I was compelled to leave a poor review. Their food is good, but they mess up their customer's orders too frequently...
Barely got any onion rings after spending $24 on a combo. Terrible value.
I just ordered a burger for my son tonight because he doesn’t like the dinner at home, and that’s the only food he ate tonight. He was very happy when he ate it, but within 2 hours, he threw up all the food he ate completely. now he is still struggling with stomachache. Now I highly doubt about the sanitation of this place. Anyone else has the same trouble?
Awful service wouldn't step foot in here. PLACE WAS EMPTY AND NOBODY WOULD TAKE MY ORDER. One lady just leaned over and stared at me after I said hello.
Just received my Door dash order.Asked for pickles got none, no tomato got that a huge piece od lettuce, tater tots cold as was the burger .If there were a zero star rating would give it to them. Never ordering again!
Our orders took longer than usual for a burger place. Jalapeño poppers was cold, the cheese inside wasn't melted through. The bun on my burger is so soggy. The mushroom wasn't cooked well. Good thing I was lit and hungry or else I might've not ate the food. The fries for sure is frozen. For the location and the size of the place, this experience was such a let down. I expected too much from this place. Everything tasted bland like they don't salt your patty while grilling it. It definitely taste like frozen haul from Costco. Not worth the money, not worth the calories. I'm not sure how they are in business.. The 5 star reviews, idk what y'all standards if this is good to you.
