Random stop on a road trip, and I'm really glad we did. Small-ish, unassuming biergarten style place, reasonable long-table seating inside and a heated tent outside with more seating. The really draw here is their house-made malted barley and all NYS fresh ingredients. Some of the best craft beer I've had. The kölsch, grisette, and Kellebier were all on point. Food was well done with care. Nachos, frites, burgers, and other similar tavern foods. Definitely worth a drive to get here.

The veggie burger is soo unbelievably good. I’ve had so many burgers made with impossible meat but this one was better than them all! I can’t stop talking about it two weeks later so knew it deserved a review!!

We go here once or twice a month. Of course, the beer is great but we really come for the amazing food. They have an incredible selection of veggie and vegan burgers plus meat options. I'm partial to the Vegan Shroom & Swiss burger and the (real) panko chicken sandwich. Great to eat there (around fire pits!) or to take out. Parking in their lot or on the street, plus a short walk to ice cream and Catskill's main street.

This place is fantastic! Three of us went on Saturday afternoon. The outdoor area is cozy with the lighted tents and greenery, and the beer was great. I got a frozen negroni which was the best one I've ever had. We also got the pretzel breadsticks and a fried shrimp basket which were very tasty. There were lots of people with kids and dogs. Overall, it's an excellent place to hang out and enjoy some drinks and eats.

Here for a wedding weekend and stopped by Subversive and had an awesome time! Great beer menu - I got the Forbidden Fruit, which was a black current sour ale that was light and punchy. Adored it. I also loved how many vegan/ vegetarian options there were with different plant based burger options and I got the sweet potato and black bean tacos which were full of flavor and delicious. Lots of great outside areas to chill, was the perfect spot to hang!

I had the best mushroom burger here and everything was soooo good! I loved the beer slushie(I’m a sucker for any slushie) it was so yummy and worth every penny(: yall in the kitchen slayed and food was out super quick and tasty as ever 🥰 Thank youuu and will be one of our spots when we visit(:

Cute little place! Beer 🍺 is awesome, I recommend the sour! Food was delicious, we the cheese and veggies board and the pretzels w/mustard and beer cheese sauces. Vegetarian and Vegan options, also pet friendly!

Stopped here on our way to a Catskill weekend, glad we did! Plenty of parking in the lot or on the street, place is inviting with plenty of outdoor seating, some covered. Inside area is small but cozy with a few tables and a bar. Thankfully they separated drinks only and food/drinks which made the flow much more smooth. Drinks were good, these guys know what they're doing, I particularly enjoyed the Oktoberfest. Food was awesome, the buffalo chicken salad was filling and refreshing. My only complaint was this place felt like a daycare as much as a brewery, but I guess that is to be expected these days, I can't fault the establishment for that. Will definitely be back

Friendly staff and dog friendly outside or in the heated tent. The heated tent was actually pretty warm for it being only about 25°F outside. The NY IPA was good, and I like that they have 3 different size options, but the mushroom and swiss burger was delicious!! Definitely don't skip the burger, wish I had gotten a picture before we devoured it!

Stopped here on my way passing through because of the very high reviews. Definitely did not disappoint. The burgers were amazing. Simple but delicious menu. I had a bite of my kids macaroni and cheese and it was definitely not your typical Kraft BS you would get in most places. The beer was also awesome. The have a really cozy outdoor tent that was decorated for the holidays. I will definitely stop again if I’m ever in the area.

Visited early afternoon on a Saturday in the middle of May. A great brewery taproom overall. Decent selection of beers, nice mix of styles. The three I had (two lagers, one pale ale) were all solid. Two pour sizes offered. Attentive service. Good food menu. Tasty grilled cheese and burger, although the burger (or at least the blue cheese one) is a bit of a task to eat. Pretty messy. Lots of outdoor seating. Various beers in can and bottle for takeaway. We enjoyed our visit here and would certainly come back if passing nearby.

Subversive has served up an impressive array of beer styles for awhile, but it’s their new kitchen’s offerings that have brought me back a few times in the months since it opened. All the burgers are great, but for a first tasting you can't go wrong with the Classic smash burger. Delicious double patties, just as good as an In-N-Out or Shake Shack burger (complete with a special sauce). Simple but done with the best ingredients. The fries are excellent, too — golden, crispy, soft in the middle. I’ve gotten a Classic burger with fries a handful of times and it’s been A+ each time. Great weekend lunch spot if you’re in the area!

Been here multiple times. It was nice in the colder months that they were able to have tents out with wood stoves. The entire vibe was amazing with fire pits outside as well. Beer is always great. Always have a great time here. 5 stars!!!!!

Subversive Malting + Brewing has the BEST food and beer in Catskill! Check out their new menu! We had the Bacon Barbecue SmashBurger, the Blue SmashBurger with fries and the Belgian Endive Salad with chicken and bacon, pairing it with the Camp Comet IPA. Great food, friendly staff and perfect atmosphere! Absolutely love it here!

Stopped randomly here on the way to Lake George. If you're following Google maps in, yes you're going the right way, but its not in an area you'd expect to find great beer. The IPA was good, but Tangled Vines, a cherry saison was one of my favorites of the style. Well balanced and flavorful. The bonus was the wood fired pizza truck thay shares their space. Having cider, wine and soda available meant that everyone could find something. This was a great find.

Don't be fooled by the appearance. It's worth the stop. They have a good, diverse selection of beer and other drinks. The food is delicious! We ordered the Mediterranean Sampler and were amazed at what we got! It had a generous portion of everything, and it was all tasty! The service was also really good. Everyone was pleasant and nice. It's a great place to hang out on a beautiful day!

We stopped here one evening for dinner/a snack because that online menu looked really great and they had outdoor seating so we could bring our pup with us. It was raining but luckily they had a tent and a heater inside so it wasn’t terribly cold. The heater wasn’t on when we first got inside though but the guy made sure to go out and get it working for us which was super friendly. I got the forbidden fruit to drink and it was delicious! Probably one of my favorite drinks I’ve gotten. My bf got the New York nectar and said it was really good. He took the branch and bine home as a 4 pack and said it just tasted like a tree, so not his favorite. We got the Bavarian pretzel and fries to snack on and both were good! I was super disappointed because the menu was different online vs there so I was really excited for the chorizo queso but it wasn’t available. Overall it was a good experience, I just hope they update their online menus!
