Taquería El Califa Cdmx Reviews
We came here a couple of times on our trip to mexico city. The prices and food quality are unbeatable. My complaints are with the slow service. Also, this place is so busy that it's hard to get good service. We had to wait almost ten minutes and tell them two times to get our check/bill. This happened both times that we were there. They also have free wifi inside there.
Four words: taco de sirloin prime 🤤🤤🤤 this taco has me in a permanent chokehold! A friend of mine from CDMX recommended this place to me, and this taquería was less than a 10 minute walk from my hotel so ended up going several times! Absolutely delicious, the choice of salsas is fantastic, the staff are super nice and so quick, it’s just hard to stop eating 😅 wish I could snap my fingers and be there right now! Deffo one to try!
Really enjoyed my tacos here in the heart of Mexico City. They had an immense variety of menu items. I was able to get delicious salad wrap tacos, but also had a piece of my wives gringa which was also tasty. Waitstaff was bilingual and very attentive. I appreciate that they had menus available both in Spanish and English and I could get my favorite Soda Dr. Pepper.
Great place for some very quick service. Had a bunch of different types of tacos. All were good. Very crowded when we went but we got a table and great service.
I recently visited this restaurant by recommendation hoping for a satisfying meal, but my experience was severely disappointing on almost every front. The pricing lands in the mid-range. It is reasonable, but not cheap, setting an expectation for a certain level of quality and service that was completely unmet. I ordered a beer and received a dusty can. The service was truly abysmal. Our server was super pushy, rushing us through the menu, trying to upsell constantly, and making us feel unwelcome and hurried from the moment we sat down. I know it is a busy place with forming a line outside of the restaurant at times, and has a lively vibe. However creating an uncomfortable atmosphere is unnecessary. The most critical issue was the food safety. While the initial flavors of the tacos were promising, the experience turned disastrous shortly after I left. Within a few hours, I was hit with stomach problems that resulted in diarrhea and a complete loss of appetite that lasted well into the next day. This is the only place I had problems during my entire stay in CDMX. Given the combination of the aggressive, lousy service and the resulting stomach issues, I cannot pass on recommendation. Save your money and your digestive system; there are much better options available in the neighborhood.
Probably one of the worst tacos I've had in my life. And I'm from NY so I should know cause according to people we don't know ish about tacos. But I have had way better tacos from my Mexican brothers and sisters out here in NY. First off the host was super rude. Second, one of my tacos was the wrong order. So I ended up with 3 steak tacos instead of 2 steak and 1 chicken. So can only base this off the cow tacos I got. First time trying non chopped meat in a taco which is a thing nowadays. Which hey, some call it innovation, I call it lazy. Wouldn't complain much if the meat was actually good. But no. The highlight of this dish was the salsas they put out on the table. Definitely skip this chain and go to a legit taco spot
I rarely write reviews unless the place is amazing or sucky and this place was sucky. The customer service and the food was lacking. For the prices, go eat somewhere else worth it. I came to visit family who lives in the city from the US. It was my husband's first time in Mexico since he is american and we went out to eat at many places and he remembers this place for the horrible experience. Looking at the menu upon sitting down the prices didn't bother us much since my cousin said the tacos were great. We had a waiter who literally was the worst waiter ever. On top of not answering questions well since my husband had a few questions about the menu, he seemed more preoccupied with the table behind us of 7 people. 15 minutes pass and he doesn't take our order but keeps looking at this tablet standing around. We ordered beers and honestly if it wasn't for the beers we were ready to walk out. I asked him if we could take our order and he said yeah in a second which was not. As a waiter you should be like yes unless you are super busy and like I said he wasn't and was just worried about the table behind us. I asked him for tacos without pineapple for my husband and he came back with just the meat. Me and my husband were super mad. On top of the HORRIBLE SERVICE the tacos were cold. I then asked him for a last round of tacos since it was our only meal that day since we had just came from the pyramids and luckily we got another waitress to finish our bill. Conclusion, go someplace with better service and food. They should focus on training their waiters better and to pay attention to all tables equally. Never again here.
