Umaya Ramen Cerritos Reviews
Had the chicken shoyu ramen and loaded fries, was amazing. The fries were delicious! Also washed it down with a cold Sapporo.
Came in on Saturday 3/7 around 7:15pm, the staff was soo friendly, kind and I was very surprised. It was my first time there and I will definitely be back.
Shoutout to Roger and his crew! They did an amazing job tonight and even sang a birthday song for my Auntie. You guys are awesome! Five stars for these boys. Great customer service and they made sure we were well taken care of. The food was great and the music was such a vibe. Thanks, Umaya Ramen! Until my next visit to Cerritos, CA :)
First time here and went on a wim. The place was nice and well lit. Got some seafood Ramen with extra scallops. 😋 it was Amazing, plus the appetizer sampler!!!! Wife ordered the garlic pasta with shrimp tempura, and she loved it. Friendly people and very clean, in all very impressed. 10 out of 10, highly recommend it!! I will definitely drive 2 hours again to come here from Apple Valley!!!!
I think we have found our go-to ramen place in Cerritos! Food was excellent, priced fairly, and great service. We ordered Black Garlic Tonkatzu. The soup was excellent, and it’s not too salty like many other ramen places. I ordered extra hot water on the side just in case, and I didn’t have to use. My wife likes her noodles al dente and it came out perfectly. I like my noodles softer, asked and got what I liked. Only thing is their portions seem slightly smaller than normal, and only 1 piece of meat and half of an egg. This was ok for us as we are not too much a big eater, and I liked the soup a lot so I nearly drank it all. Strongly recommending to order extras for a larger appetite. Our squid legs appetizer was a great addition, it was gone in no time.
My husband and I LOVE coming to Umaya! It’s always a vibe. I always get the same ramen 😅 the tonkatsu ramen with bean sprouts instead of mushrooms. Delicious! Their charred edamame is a favorite of ours!! If you haven’t tried them, you’re missing out. They always have a good selection of music. Sometimes they have a movie playing - with no sound lol
Good to great all around. Great value: portions were good, the noodles had good texture to them, and the broth was very tasty but not too overpowering. Additional toppings are a little expensive, but your standard $9ish bowls come with a good deal of things that are usually extra anyway (like bamboo shoots and seaweed). The loaded fries come with a good deal of short rib and the karaage was very crunchy with good seasoning in the breading. Definitely found a new spot to come!
Came here for the 2nd Japanese meal of the day, but left with a full satisfied belly, and an earful of relaxing 70s music! Did not expect that! Oh, and of course the food was really good! If I didn't live so far away, I'd come back more frequently. Please readers, come try this place on my behalf so I can live vicariously through you.
In the mood for some soupie ramen goodness, I stumbled upon Umaya Ramen, a place with high ratings that beckoned me to check it out. Tucked away in Cerritos, it offers a dimly lit escape that’s both a blessing and a curse. The subdued lighting adds to the cozy atmosphere, but it can be a struggle to read the menu under the faint glow of the few functioning bulbs. It’s an “okie” environment – not exceptional, but it has its charms. The service shines brighter than the lighting, with attentive staff that ensure your experience is smooth from start to finish. As for the drinks, the IPA beer stands out – it’s crisp, flavorful, and a great companion to the main event. The ramen bowls are good; they won’t transport you to the streets of Tokyo, but they’ll satisfy a craving. There’s no singular dish that’ll make your taste buds sing, but the overall quality is solid. The perfectly cooked egg is a highlight, adding a rich layer to the already tasty ramen. In summary, Umaya Ramen is a decent choice when you’re in the area and in need of a ramen fix. It might not dazzle you with culinary fireworks, but it’ll do the job – and sometimes, that’s exactly what you need. Feel free to adjust this review to better reflect your personal experience. I haven't found a good ramen restaurant in this area yet, so I've been wandering around, but this one was disappointing. I went there with high expectations, but it wasn't great. There are plenty of good places downtown, but this one was terrible. The tables were sticky, and I had to wait to get in, but it wasn't worth it
Food tasted like nothing, very bland. Didn’t even finished it. Kinda disappointed, wouldn’t come back. Recommend trying the other local area next to this.
I got their signature ramen and a rice bowl. Broth was pretty bland and the pork belly was overcooked, like beef jerky overcooked. Their menu also listed the bowl at $5 but I was charged $6. After I told the waiter, he told me that extra dollar was for tax which is just a blatant lie. That's 20% tax for a bowl of rice buddy. After way too much discussion, he finally got me back to $5. Never had to haggle to arrive at the stated price for a bowl of soup before. Tldr: ramen is mediocre. Prices are way too high. Service is bad. Buy a can of Campbell's chicken noodle instead.
Very disappointed tbh, I love trying different Ramen places and this place is overpriced and not great. $15+ dollars for regular miso ramen, its +$2 for just the spicy very, comes with 1!! Slice of meat (which was tough and kind hard to chew) and for 1!!! More piece of meat its $3. I mean talk about price gouging. Noodles for slightly under cooked, Service was good but you could see all the supplies they use under the bar area which killed the Atmosphere. There are like 5 different better places in the same parking lot, do better.
Used to be one of our regular go-to place for ramen. Not anymore. Food quality has been a big disappointment for the past couple years, but we were hopeful and thought we'd give it another try. We noticed a bad odor when we entered the restaurant. It smells like a pile of dirty laundry or sewage. We were there for a Saturday dinner. The place was packed, but we waited only a few minutes. The service was quick and so was our food. I decided to try their bento box. The chicken teriyaki was served in a to-go flimsy plastic container for a dine-in. The chicken tasted old and dry, and so was the rice. The beef noodle was bland. Yoshinoya would have been better. My friend had the tonkotsu ramen. She said the noodle was overcooked and the broth was bland. I decided to try her tonkotsu. The broth was neither rich or creamy. There was no umami flavor to it. Tasteless. We've had many ramen dishes. From Cerritos to Tokyo. Unfortunately, this place is a culinary letdown. Earned two stars for the attentive staff and the vibes, but we're not coming back.
Just received some of the worst food I have ever had from an establishment that serves this type of food. Pan fried dumplings.. soggy and rubbery, not pan fried in the slightest way, shape or form....absolutely gross. Tempura... dont even get me started.. it was burnt to the point of being dark brown and hard and tasted of old oil. By far the worst tempura I've had in my 35 years of living.
They said the wait was 30-45 minutes. We waited for an hour and half. We checked in to be seated around 6pm on a monday night (10.25.2021). We got a text around 730pm and got seated 735 since we're just waiting outside, right behind the counter where we can see them work. Do the math. We also observed from a good vantage point on how things are being run on this ramen place. We ordered right away since we knew that they move slow. We got our ramen around 745pm. If you're calling to place an order, you will never get your phone order because they never answer the phone. Forget it! I called 5 times to test them and they failed miserably. The waiting line grew and most people waiting to be seated ended up ordering their food for to-go because it takes forever to get a seat. No one's running the traffic and they don't care if their customer waits longer than the initial time they told them. Servers here are not pro-customers. They don't care! Yet their ramen is not something to die for. I tasted better ramen. Heads up, mens bathroom is filthy dirty. Their hand soap dispenser is a sauce dispenser. I thought it was just left there by accident. But nope, it's a handsoap.
