Part of the Atheneum Hotel group, we are thrilled to have a wonderful place to get coffee and food year round on the grounds. Best staff you could ask for...they are very skilled and helpful. Notes: They are not set up to take cash Tips are only cash so please bring money too for these hard working kids

Decent wine selection but will limit you on trying wine. Any decent wine bar will always offer you a taste of the wine. I rarely leave critical reviews since I know it hurts businesses. Server asked if I wanted a new glass when I got a different wine. Overpriced considering this is what I pay at overpriced vibey natural wine bars in New York and Boston. Would have hoped for something a bit more wholesome and easy going in a place like Chautauqua. If you’re going to charge like a fancier wine bar my expectations are higher for what I’m offered.

We waited a long time and I paid 9 dollars for a breakfast sandwich. It tasted pretty good, on a grilled croissant, but it was just premade egg patties and was certainly not a 9 dollar sandwich. Would only come back if nowhere else was open.

If you’re staying on the grounds of the Chautauqua Institution, dining options are limited. That usually means restaurants have a captive audience - and if I were an owner, I’d be doing everything possible to deliver a consistently great experience. Unfortunately, this place doesn’t quite get there. It’s a wine bar, which may explain why they don’t take reservations. With limited seating, you’re left hoping for an open table. We arrived around 5:30 PM to get a table for three and were the only ones waiting. A party of five came in after us and was seated immediately. We ended up waiting another 15 minutes while they reconfigured tables for our smaller group. Why that happened is unclear. The food was fine, but nothing memorable. The wine selection looked solid, though I ended up sticking with water (yes, at a wine bar). Overall, the experience was pretty meh. We waited without explanation, and the food didn’t make up for it. Will we go back? Probably not by choice—but if friends suggest it, we wouldn’t rule it out.
