The Putterham Grille Chestnut Hill Reviews
I stopped in for lunch while on a work trip and got the Rachel sandwich (corned beef, cole slaw, Russian and Swiss). It was fantastic. It fell like it's be a great dinner spot.
Stopped here for lunch and had the most delicious Rueben possible. Amazing service. High quality fresh tasting ingredients in every bite. Hopefully we pass through this town for lunch again soon! I’m so caught off guard by how amazing this place is just hidden right here.
Go to place for soups and salads. The Greek salad is always delicious and fresh especially with the grilled chicken breast on top. The pita on the side is always freshly made and delicious. The Greek lemon chicken soup and homemade gazpacho are also favorites.
I had the BEST Thanksgiving, thanks to Putterham Grille’s catering service! The variety of food was incredible, and every single dish was absolutely delicious. My entire family enjoyed everything — there was something for everyone, and the quality was exceptional. Sean and his team are amazing! If you’re looking for delicious food and outstanding service, Putterham Grille is the place to go!!! Thank you for making our Thanksgiving so special!
Just had my 40-people event catered by Putterham and it went great! They were thoughtful, prompt, friendly and accommodating. Really enjoyed working with Sean. Highly recommend!
Putterham Grille always hits the spot. Whether I dine in or take out, the quality and taste are top-notch every time.
We recently used Putterham Grille to cater the Brigham and Women's Anesthesia Clinical Research Assistants Holiday Party, and the experience was exceptional! The food was excellent, with a wide variety of options to satisfy both carnivores and vegetarians alike. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The team at Putterham Grille was professional and accommodating, ensuring that all dietary preferences were thoughtfully addressed. If you're looking for a caterer that delivers on taste, quality, and variety, Putterham Grille is a fantastic choice. Highly recommend for any event!
I got a Caesar wrap with crispy chicken and it was sooooooo delicious!! One of the best Caesar wraps I’ve ever had!!! Whoever made it deserves a big fat kiss! I will definitely be getting it again
Great service and delicious food with lots of variety on the menu. It’s a bit of a hole in the wall but I like the vibe and the music/ambiance is really pleasant. The place is also spotless. We ordered the lobster rolls with sweet potato fries and lentil soup and everything tasted fresh and homemade. Can’t wait to go back and try their other specials.
Everything turned out perfect! I worked with Sean to cater my party. He gave me great suggestions for the menu and the amount. Everything was ready for pick up at the time we agreed with clear instructions for reheating. The food was delicious, and we all enjoyed without stress. We especially loved the hummus, pita, tzatziki, the pie, kebab and the beet salad. Thank you Sean and Putterham Grille!
I can't write enough great things about this place! I went for lunch and had the BLT. It was loaded with bacon, so much I could barely finish it. Tonight I stopped for an appetizer and a glass of wine. The pumpkin ravioli did not disappoint! It was a large helping with a wonderful amaretto sauce. The manager AL was very attentive, while juggling phone orders and carry-outs. I highly recommend this nice place.
Amazing Catering service! Sean and Chef Rodrigo could not have been more accommodating for my event. Sean was so helpful when placing my order, providing suggestions and helping me get the right amount of food. They absolutely overdelivered and we were able to send everyone home with leftovers. The meal was delicious - Chicken Marsala, Butternut Squash, Veggie Medley, Mashed Potatoes & Salad. I cannot recommend them enough, thank you!
I have lived in the Brookline area for years and haven’t been here. This is a gem within the area. Absolutely perfect portions and quality. Could not ask for a better selection of food. Everyone is so nice. I got the beet salad with of chicken & the Greek soup. Delish!
Nice restaurant with good quality food. They were limited in their vegan lunch options, however, I still enjoyed my Greek salad wrap. The calamari is to die for. If you're going to putterham grille, you just get it, you simply must. Overall, the prices were a little high, but the service was good and we had a nice time. If you come on the earlier side for lunch, you won't have any issues with parking, the area does get pretty busy around noon though.
The food is always delicious, fresh, authentic. Great stop for lunch or as a catering option! The staff are so friendly. Shoutout to chef Sean! Definitely recommend! I wouldv'e taken a picture of my chicken gyro but I beat the camera to it
Quality sandwiches, quiet place to retreat from the hustle and bustle with comfort food. Awesome bakery next store, too.
I have been using Putterham Grille for catering since they've opened. They accommodate all my needs, including special requests. Everything from holiday parties to Easter Sunrise breakfasts and motorcycle blessings. I highly recommend the team at Putterham Grille for your next catering event.
Delicious Mediterranean entrees are not the only offerings at Putterham Grille. The kitchen turns out diverse selections from American comfort foods to Greek and even Italian. This large assortment makes decision making difficult, but luckily there are no bad choices. Meals begin here with a warm pita and olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dunking. The very best was their grilled salmon with melt-in-your-mouth creamy mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Made with lemon butter sauce, the salmon was exquisite and paired nicely with a chardonnay suggested by their knowledgeable staff. Their traditional Greek desserts trump over the American counterparts. If the waitress suggest the Galaktoboureko, it is best to comply. The staff is exceptionally welcoming and energetic. Happy to educate with which of their wines goes best with your meal, they encourage their guests to taste before buying. The owner of this wonderful addition to the Chestnut Hill restaurant scene makes sure all of his guest are treated with warmth and hospitality.
Excellent food and the service was phenomenal!!!
My wife and I had only been in the Putterham Grille for a reception for a local photographer but the hors d'oeuvres were quite good so we thought we try it for dinner. And now we're glad we did. We cleverly went at 5:45 on a Tuesday so it was relatively quiet (although it filled up a good bit while we were there). While waiting for our app, we enjoyed the bread dipped in olive oil. It seemed to be almost a lightly grilled pita but, whatever it was, it was very good. We shared the calamari appetizer and, as a calamari fan, it was outstanding - one of the best I've ever had. Lightly battered and perfectly fried, they were accompanied by a very tasty sauce with just the right amount of zip. My wife had the haddock special with risotto and it was rich and delicious. I had the lamb shank with risotto - also rich and delicious. We had plenty of leftovers for the next day. The wine, a nice tempranillo, was a generous pour - I'd guess 6 oz or so. Service was attentive and friendly - kudos to Victor - and we will most certainly be back. Our only regret is that we waited so long to discover this gem.
The best food I have had in a long time!! My mom loved her hearty Caesar salad and I loved my corned beef pita club yummy Also excellent service 🤩
OMG! One of the best meals ever. Baby greens, strawberries, beets walnuts and thinly sliced apples paired with Lemon Perfect is truly perfect! Would love to transport restaurant back to my home town-Yum
Nothing fancy, just good fresh food at fair prices.
Great catering order this weekend! Chicken Picatta and Greek Potatoes were perfect. Guests loved it all. Will be back for the summer birthdays. Thanks!
Very tasty food! Was pleasantly surprised to see the chicken parm came with spaghetti. Good service, food was on time. I only did takeout (pandemic) but will come back!
This is a local gem. HIdden away in a small strip mall, this venue is well worth seeking out. The food is great and the service is warm and friendly. My only suggestion would be to add a cider to the drink offerings.
It’s such a welcoming spot with great service and a friendly atmosphere. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. Ever since I discovered this lovely restaurant I’ve been coming here once a week and I always leave satisfied ☺️.
We had Putterham cater a big friends-and-family get-together and it was incredible. Sean, our contact there, could not have been more helpful. He was always responsive, always great to talk to, and the food was a big hit.
The western omelet with cheese with home fries and bacon was extremely delicious and the portions were generous. I highly recommend Putterham Grille fresh food and high quality service.
I attended breakfast for their soft opening and I’ll definitely be back! Food was excellent and the service was great. I’m looking forward to next Sunday. I hope the breakfast is here to stay.
Best take out in the area. Excellent Mediterranean menu. Love their chicken parmesan & chicken Marsala; great soups. Very friendly staff. Can dine in (no wait service) or call in advance for take out. Highly recommended
This is a hidden gem! Best tzatziki in The World! Delicious lentil soup. Super nice owner!
We went for their soft open for breakfast and it was amazing! Food and service all excellent, will definitely be back soon!
I ordered yesterday (June 13) a variety of sandwiches in different sizes from Putterham Grille for a 12-person event, and everyone was genuinely impressed! The quality of the food exceeded our expectations — fresh ingredients, generous portions, and great flavors. It was clear that care went into each sandwich, and the variety kept everyone happy. I highly recommend.
Best management staff The gentleman who does the orders is super friendly and helpful I am vegetarian and I asked him if there were any and he recommended some and when I brought my mother in he was super kind and helpful. My family has been going there for a while. The staff they used to have ( waiters) were super friendly. The food is always great
I left good reviews on the atmosphere and service but I ordered takeout. The baked haddock with sherry citrus stuffing and summer squash risotto was absolutely amazing. Highly recommended! I’ll definitely order it again.
South Brookline is so fortunate to have such a wonderful deli!! Food is delicious, freshly made and more than reasonably priced. Bagels and lox made to order! Sandwiches out of this world! This has always been our go-to place for good eats and will continue to be!!
A nice selection of sandwiches, salads and deserts. I went there for Lunch and it wasn't crowded, there quite a few tables were taken. We had the Mezza platter which was enough for several people to share. The decor is pleasant so are the wait staff. The food was very good, and the portions are ample. Prices are reasonable. Parking is really available.
I really like it here and just started ordering. I have had great salads here (beet salad great) but just ordered the watermelon salad, and sorry for $16 and I get 2 pieces of watermelon? Ok, something's gotta give. Either lower the price or add more watermelon!
Great place with a good selection. The wait for our mains was a bit long but well worth the wait. My husband's county fried chicken was out of this world.
A deli with huge salads and sandwiches. They did not have table service, but lots of booths and tables were available. Most of the items on the menu are big enough to serve for two. I took home half of my Cobb salad. Wife took home half of her corned beef sandwich. Onion rings were enough for two, and were very good. We did not try any of the dinner items on the menu.
Putterham was fantastic and I'm so happy I found this place. The waiter was super attentive and very helpful with any menu questions. I ordered the broccoli and cheese quiche, which was so big! It was very very good. I tried the matzo ball soup also which is made entirely in house. Definitely a must-try. My boyfriend ordered the hot corn beef/pastrami sandwich, which he loved. His highlight was funnily enough, the pickle. He asked for some more and wouldn't stop talking about it. Turns out they make those in house too :)
Overall, a great little spot. We live nearby and had never been. Our friends gave us a generous giftcard for the holidays and on a cold snowy night, we decided to check it out. The service was very quick and super friendly. I must say I was a little confused by the 2 giant coolers as soon as you walk in, but I am guessing they have a good lunch business. It looked more like a lunch counter than a sit down restaurant. We were seated quickly in the quiet dining room and we able to admire the art on the walls for sale. Always a nice touch. We started with soups and they were both delicious. I love French Onion and when its done right, it is awesome. This was a really good soup for such a cold night. My husband loved his lobster bisque as well. Our meals were large sized portions and we did take some home. The chicken parm was awesome.
Has a Greek-Mediterranean character, but the variety of dishes is large. the service was scattered a bit, but overall good. the food came out pretty quickly and in good timing. overall, if you are around and want to eat decent food in a sit-down restaurant, i would recommend.
very cozy place. attentive wait staff ,the food was fantastic. have to go back as it was their Valentine's day menu and I like to try the regular menus offerings.
Have gotten takeout there from time to time, but haven't "dined in" for some years. Turns out one orders from take out menu, the food is given at take out counter in take out containers with plastic utensils, and you can sit at the tables to eat. Will continue to get take out, but won't go back to "dine in".
Ordered a “lamb” gyro and I’m almost positive it was actually just beef chunk…. The gyro tasted okay but it was tough to believe anything about the meat was actually lamb. Walked in and it was empty (given, it was a Monday at 6:30pm), the lighting was dark, could barely see into the display shelves at the counter. Just a lot of work that needs to be done here before I’d consider going back.
I just came to say that the ONLY reason I came was because Brueggers was closed and Starbucks ran out of plain bagels. My daughter really wanted a bagel. Seven dollars for one bagel & cream cheese. Then I asked how much just for the bagel no cream cheese still $7.00. Wow just wow I felt as if I was robbed. Small crusty bagel at that definitely not freshly baked.
First I want to say this terrible review is in no reflection of the server. She was great very friendly and understanding. The bad review is for the quality of the food. Tasteless sandwich and cold fries. Not room temp fries but cold fries. Got a chicken bomb wrap it was mostly ginormous chunks of bell peppers. Also took 45 mins to come out. First and last time going.
We went there at a slow time (around 3:30pm) and ordered three items for takeout. We were told our order would be ready in 10 minutes. We waited there for 20+ minutes. The Ginger Teriyaki Chicken Tender was no different from eating salt, too salty to eat; the chicken noodle soup tastes like detergent and was like from canned food, but is three times more expensive than a can of soup; the Bostonian sandwich was ok, very average. The staff was not friendly either. When we told them the chicken tender was very salty, they said they did not put any salt, while the chicken was soaked in the salty sauce. Will not go back.
