Bodega El Carretero Chiclana de la Frontera Reviews
Great 👌
Authentic
Totally recommended. We went there by chance while looking for another place, and we liked it so much that we went three times during our visit to Chiclana. I recommend trying their typical wines and vermouth. The ham and pork loin were spectacular, although everything we ordered and what we saw coming out of the kitchen looked very good. The staff is spectacular; the service is fast and very attentive. The place is a typical traditional bodega with its own charm; it has plenty of tables and a seating area like a bar. We will return.
Evening of heavy tappas. Everyone of all ages enjoyed.
Full of atmosphere
Very good food ! Excellent location in a bodega. Perfect service, excellent ! Recommended for sure.
Great food and excellent service by one guy and a girl, serving some 12 or more tables between them. Very impressive service. Good atmosphere.

This meal was fine for hanging out with friends; it wasn't bad, but it wasn't spectacular either. It's a good place to go to pass the time. The only downside was that water kept dripping all over the food and on us, which made eating quite uncomfortable. Also, one of the waiters was rude to one of our friends. Anyway, it might have just been an off day, and the waiters were stressed because of the rain. So we'll give it another try sometime.
A visit to this winery is a must every time we visit Chiclana. It's a little more expensive than others, but the quality of the product is worth it. The tuna chicharrones they have are absolutely incredible, the muscatel is delicious, and the seasoned potatoes too! I highly recommend it. Plus, the service is super fast.
Recently restored winery. The prices are expensive and the food isn't bad at all, just average. Still, it's one of the best wineries in Chiclana for a pleasant time with family or friends. If you want to get a table on the patio and not be cooked inside, you should go early. The chorizo en llamas is highly recommended. And the brownie too.
There were four of us for dinner, and we enjoyed everything, some things more than others. My comments are based on the experience and flavors we enjoyed. We ordered classic dishes from this long-established restaurant: ensaladilla rusa (potato salad), which is made with potatoes, lettuce, and a mild mayonnaise. I recommend ordering tapas, because if you order more items, it gets quite heavy. We really liked the spargui, which are warm little sandwiches with pork fillet and melted cheese. We also ordered cuttlefish meatballs, but they came with a tomato sauce, which overpowered the cuttlefish flavor. Chorizo a la llama (flamed chorizo) is another typical tapa from this bodega, and finally, the bomba de carne (meatball). It's clearly precooked and has a lot of filling, making it a bit dry. It was served with a touch of mayonnaise to soften the flavor.
A typical winery with enormous barrels decorating most of the premises. Fast service and very attentive service. Roe, pavías, dogfish, potatoes, or eggplant with honey are a good choice. Whether you're a snack or a lunch, you can try it and you'll leave with a good taste in your mouth. The TV is superb. Highly recommended.
The place is spacious, but very hot, with no air conditioning or a single fan. Good food, delicious rice (I recommend it), but the dressed potatoes lack seasoning and the fried pork rinds are small and few for a half portion. All the dishes came out at the same time, except for the swordfish, which took longer to arrive, and we had already eaten everything by the time it was served. Service: the guy taking orders is a 10/10, the girls make mistakes when serving, and another older gentleman is a bit unfriendly.
It's true that we went on a busy day, but the tapas were quite small for the price, even though they were good. The service was fast, quite fast. But they treated us very coldly; they didn't take our orders, but instead gave us a piece of paper stained with a pen. It was fast and effective, but the service was cold and the food was a bit sparse considering the price. Otherwise, everything was wonderful.
Beautiful
Avoid 🤢🤢🤢. Visited here on 16/06/23. Ordered small plates of bread, olives, pork skewer and chicken skewer. Bread had mould on it and both pork and chicken were visibly raw inside with both bloody and bright pink inside. Blonde waitress wordlessly removed them and replaced bread. She then took pork and chicken back to the kitchen where they were put back on the grill and then given back to us without a word of apology. Basically: If you don’t want food poisoning, do not eat here.
