Contracorriente Ciudad De México Reviews
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Contracorriente is one of those places that's totally worth it 🤌🔥. Excellent quality seafood, super fresh, and with a flavor that hooks you from the first bite. It's so good that while I'm writing this, I'm already going for another ceviche. Everything is perfectly seasoned, the portions are generous, and it's a real treat. It's just as good as the "whitexican" restaurants, but here you eat just as well, or even better, with much more authenticity. If you're in Mexico City and you like good seafood, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended.
The best seafood in the area: delicious and fresh. I trust it completely! My favorite: the tostada morena. Excellent service, portions, and prices.
This is my favorite seafood place in all of Mexico City because, since it's not traditional seafood, each dish is unique and delicious. My favorite dish is the tuna ceviche with watermelon, and with a cold michelada, it's the most delicious thing in the world 🤤 The tuna carnitas taco is a must if you visit this restaurant. The waitress was very attentive to us, as was the chef, and the wait flew by as we chatted away. However, they're very busy, so we had to wait in line. I 100% recommend it and will return!
They've returned to the restaurant I knew the first time I visited. The food is delicious, and I especially love the tacos al carbon. The ceviche "Todas Mías" is still one of my favorites. The place has a relaxed atmosphere, and while they can take a little while to deliver, it's completely worth it. Plus, the staff is super friendly, and the prices are very affordable.
A hidden gem in Narvarte!!! I hadn't even finished settling into my chair before they gave me the menu and were taking my order. The entire staff was very friendly and attentive. The seafood was very fresh and excellently seasoned. Reasonable prices and a great atmosphere. I recommend the Gober taco or the Morena tostada. The place is a bit small, but the food and service more than make up for it. I highly recommend it!!! The only thing I didn't like was the dessert.
A very good experience. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. The service is a little slow, but from the moment you sit down, there's a sign indicating this. The wait is totally worth it. You can tell the food is fresh and of very good quality. Definitely a place to come back and try the entire menu.
It's not just seafood; it's a complete departure from what other places offer. Appetizers, aguachiles, mezcal, and beer are the formula you have to try when you visit this place. With a simple yet very pleasant decor, it has a terrace, is pet-friendly, and if you're lucky, you might catch a DJ spinning tunes on the weekend.
Superb seafood small joint. Limited menu but everyrhing is good. Staff nice and friendly. Excellent value
I ordered some "famous" octopus tacos, which were delicious and well-served. I loved that the cucumber water is sugar-free. The only thing they need to improve is the service. I think they're short on hands, but they're friendly and the place is nice. I'll be back to try more of their menu. UPDATE I tried the tostada campechana again, and it was DELICIOUS.
Contracorriente is an unpretentious place with delicious food. The octopus chicharrón gordita is delicious: crispy octopus on the outside but tender to the bite. The shrimp ceviche with quinoa is also delicious, especially with the aguachile sauce, which has a hint of ginger. I'm giving it one star because there were no aguachiles. We'll be back to try it :)
The food was good, but the service left much to be desired. We ordered an appetizer, and it arrived at the very end of the meal. A michelada arrived when I was halfway through my beer. They only serve two crackers per dish, as if that were enough. I had to get up three times to remind them of my order, which they had clearly forgotten. The service is slow, but the food is good. So, if you don't mind waiting or being treated poorly, it's the ideal place.
The service leaves much to be desired. Don't waste your precious time. Reading some of the customer reviews, I see that the lack of education and customer service comes from the management. I don't recommend it.
When we first ordered our food, the waitress didn't know there was a dish that wasn't listed on the menu. Instead of asking the chef or anyone who did, she just stood there, and at that point, she left our order with the other waiter... Or surprise when they brought us the food, the shrimp cocktail was literally water with shrimp and cucumber, they didn't have any sauce other than those from the supermarket, the shrimp broth my companion ordered didn't taste like anything and wasn't hot, and the only carrot it had was hard and apparently cooked separately, it tasted like nothing. The tacos, although the preparation and portion are good, don't have a good flavor! One of them had a quarter of a roasted tomato in the taco and had so much onion that it overshadowed the rest of the flavors. They don't offer anything else as side dishes and we didn't go during rush hour and they still took a long time. In the end, we had to ask for the bill 4 times for them to bring it to us and when they asked if everything was okay with the food, we said that and then no refunds or anything like... We'll improve, etc. I'm definitely not coming back.
