El Pub Ciudad De México Reviews
We.went on a Saturday morning to watch a Liverpool Premier League match. The ambiance is true to an Englsih pub. We sat at the bar . Service was great. We had English Breakfast, the Egg sandwich snd a few drinks. Food was very good. Looking forward to trying fish &;chips. Food, drinks all in about 1200 pesos. Great place. Highly recommended.
Great food and the menú has quite a good selection of dishes. The fish and chips is a must, and the potatoes of the special menu are excellent. Service is good and the ambient is like a good pub
Great place for traditional English food. Watch the Premiere League here. If it's a big match-up, reservations are recommended. Enjoy!
This pub sounds like a fantastic place to unwind after a long day. The name itself evokes a sense of history and sophistication that is very appealing. The idea of a classic pub with a great atmosphere is quite inviting, I'm sure people enjoy gathering there. It's also great to know that the food is also good, making it a well-rounded and enjoyable experience for everyone. English pub, with excellent atmosphere and good food.
Great place to enjoy a proper meal from a hearty breakfast to a nice dinner. Great atmosphere overall wether it's a Friday night or a Sunday morning watching footballnor rugby. Food menu is varied with several options that you can expect from an English pub of course. Drinks menu is also varied, cocktails are pretty good and the beer on tap is usually great specially the Bitter and Porter. Staff is also pretty good.
The English breakfast is probably the ONLY genuine “fry up” I’ve ever had outside of the UK or Ireland. Really lovely and a good price. They have Mexican beers at good prices. The fraught beers are artesanal and more expensive but they’re nice and it’s a real nostalgic feeling to enjoy a proper pint so far from home. The inside is decorated just like a real pub (except cleaner!) and the staff are very friendly. Sometimes it gets busy (especially during sports games) so it can be helpful to have a reservation.
If you’re in Mexico City and want a bit of the UK, this is the place to be! Authentic British food (pie and mash, sausage and mash, fish and chips…) which tastes great. Prefer the lunch food over breakfast. Inside feels like a British pub too. Airs Arsenal games with lots of supporters coming in too which brings a fun energy.
This is the real place to watch Premier League or a Rugby match. Great food. Great bear. One of my favorites Pubs in Mexico City. I recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala. I also tried some sausages that are very well executed. Finally dessert is superb, ordered Sticky Toffee Pudding. The plates can be shared.
Nice space and great pub grub. Apple crumble and ice cream was tasty but portion was very tiny and spoon way too big for it or bowl is way too small, the dash of Ice cream melted away quicky by the time served unfortunately and bill added 20 peso extra for ice cream and another 20 peso for the crumble making it 120peso total not 80 as states in menu including ice cream or custard which was corrected once pointed out. Def. worth another visit.
Nice atmosphere, a little uncomfortable chairs at the bar… service very slow, they took their time and good took ages to come out, both main plate and dessert. Had the fish and chips, which were superb! Even the tartare sauce was particularly good, the fish batter was outstanding, chips just how they are supposed to be… peas were meh, would have liked them much better puréed. Apple crumble was delicious, but it took ages to come out, and by then I had finished my Irish coffee, which was a tad lukewarm, but good flavor. A little on the expensive side, but definitely worth visiting again, despite the slow service or not having coffee (hot) and dessert coming at the same time
Overall the experience was really good, but as a Brit there are a couple of things I would improve. The apples in the apple crumble weren't cooked, and the full English was quite meat heavy, it would be good to have another option with more toast or eggs etc. Also the hash browns were very greasy. The drinks were really nice, as well as the beer on tap.
I recently visited The Duke of Lisbon in Mexico City and had a mixed experience. The food didn’t quite live up to expectations—flavors were a bit off, and the dishes didn’t have the impact I was hoping for. The service was decent, nothing spectacular but acceptable. On the bright side, the drinks were excellent; they definitely knew how to make a good cocktail. Overall, it wasn’t bad, but I probably wouldn’t rush back. 3 stars feels about right for this visit.
A friend recommended this ‘English’ pub to me, saying the food was very good. I researched it on Instagram, where it said it was Pet Friendly. Driving across CDMX in peak traffic and paying for parking, I arrived with my 9kg pug x dog and was immediately told that he was not welcome. I showed them their very own Instagram where they said they were pet friendly and they said that is out on the seats on the food path only. I think anyone would realise that a dog is allowed on a footpath because it’s public land but the Instagram specifically said pet friendly. In the end, a team of 5 staff hustled around wondering what to do, and called the owner. After standing there for a good ten minutes I was told I was allowed ‘only this once' - wow what a way to make a paying customer feel welcome. (FYI - Back in my country of England dogs are allowed in pubs so this is where I start having my doubts of how authentic this English pub is). I went to order my beer and from my understanding, I could not see any variety of English beer on the menu (could be looking in the wrong place as the menu was made up of six different PDF's which made ordering confusing). The closest thing I could get was a glass of Stella Artois. The food menu was very English and the scotch egg that I ordered was good (bit different from back home but that’s is to be expected). My jacket potato was ok as well. After the pet-friendly false advertising, dogs allowed on footpath only fiasco I found the service of the staff to be excellent. Said dog sat at my feet under the table the whole time and didn’t move. Final note - ok I get it that bars are noisy, especially English ones but the thing that was a bit off is there were three customers at the bar, who clearly had way too much to drink who were yelling and swearing (f and c word) in constant use and the staff did nothing to control this. Keep in mind that my small dog caused the staff and management a mild panic attacks but it was no problem for these hooligans to do what they were doing. Will probably head over to the other questionable ‘English’ pub named the Doghouse going forward simply because they are dog friendly, but I do wish the Duke the best of luck - what Mexico needs is more English pubs!
