Honey Baked Ham Colma Reviews
Recently visited the HoneyBaked Ham in Colma, CA. Misty, Rafael, Monica, Maryanne and Jennifer are all wonderful. The staff is very helpful, patient and attentive. I really appreciate this quality of customer service!! Thanks again for hiring an awesome staff...
The best ham especially for Christmas or New Years celebration! Their champagne mustard, cranberry, and pineapple sauces are fresh and a perfect compliment to the ham!
Don’t wait until the last day to get your ham for the holidays. Big mistake. Get your ham early
Came here to pick up Honey Baked Ham. Line was very long but it went by really fast. Got here at 1:42 and got out 2:12. Staff were friendly and courteous despite the busy rush. Very organized and clean!
Always come here to pick up a half ham for thanksgiving. Best ham out there, make sure to check for coupons before puchasing! They always have them on their website, and I was able to save $7.
Great sandwiches and great service, can't ask for more!
I was dreading picking up my turkey and ham 2 days before the holiday, but it was a very pleasant experience. I ordered online - walked in and saw 2 lines. One line was for the pre-order and the other line was for walk in. I was the 2nd person in line and was greeted by a sweet young woman who scanned my order and brought me my 2 turkeys and 1 ham. She was sweet, proficient and professional. Great location with plenty of parking too :) I wish I would have gotten her name so you can recognize this young lady but maybe you can figure it out by my order number 304411609. Thank you for the wonderful customer service from beginning to end. Ordering online was quick and simple and so was pickup. Happy Holidays - Carla
Great holiday ham! AND they have a deli where you can order sandwiches to go.
Ordered the honey baked ham, mashed potatoes and baked beans along with a pecan pie for Easter with mom. I've never had a bad experience here. A must try.
Ordered takeaway heat up sides and ham for Christmas. Staff were kind and quick to provide our order. Everything was clear about how to reheat and we enjoyed ourselves for two days on what we got.
U saved Christmas 🎄! Meal for 120$ ham and 3 sides! Kid loved everything.. hes a future food critic!! 🫡.. "yes sir!" Even sent dad a plate.. . 🌟
The ham is a must for the holidays. It is 3 days before Thanksgiving, the line of customers waiting to get their smoked hams, turkeys, gravy, fixings is growing by the hour. Thank God, I came at 2 pm only to wait 15 mins for my smoked ham this year.
Not the greatest service, so two stars off for that, but dang! GREAT sandwiches! One star back for that. Don't be in a hurry, and your mouth will love you. You have to ask about drinks, but they have them. Be patient if they're out of something, as they always are. Go for the sandwich.
Ham was great! But... they had 5 registers but only 3 were operating... I waited almost 2 hours to get my preordered ham. They should have a separate line for preorders!!!
Cashier was a bit reluctant to allow me to hold the ham for weight purposes. I tried to get a feel for how much I needed bigger or smaller. When I put my hand out, he pulled the ham back towards him..? Kinda uncomfortable.
Went here 2 days before Thanksgiving. Line was really long. I was in line for almost 1 hour . I bought a 10lbs honey baked ham. And turkey smoked. Ham was good. And turkey was good for sandwich. I spent $88.00
The ham from here is very great, also juicy. Different sizes of ham (mini, half, whole ham) and different flavors(regular, glaze) Also sell other stuff like sauce, bread, turkey, etc. Very long lines during Thanksgiving/Christmas, recommend coming here early during the holidays!
Love the ham but esp the crunchy sugary glaze that it comes with but it's expensive compared to if you get ham at safeway and bake it yourself. But if you don't have time to bake a ham and feeling special and have extra money to spend, I'd say go for it.
The honey baked ham is very good. During the holidays it is best to place your order ahead of time. There is a long waiting line on pick day. GO EARLY!
I recently visited the Honey Baked Ham Company in Colma for Easter Brunch and was impressed with the friendly and helpful staff. They recommended the prime rib which was juicy and tasty, and the ham which was equally delicious and thoroughly enjoyed by my family. The store had a great selection of meats and sides. I also appreciated the convenience of being able to order online and pick up in store. While the food was definitely good, I felt that the prices were a bit high for what you get, which is why I'm giving them four stars instead of five. However, overall it was a positive experience and I would recommend Honey Baked Ham Company to anyone looking for a tasty and convenient meal.
Thanksgiving 2025 went to pick up ham the day before Thanksgiving at 7:30AM. As expected there was a brief line, although early and some confusion about the line, even though there was only one line. I remember the employee from last year (when I made the mistake of picking up the ham day before Thanksgiving at 5:30PM never again). An employee came out (older black man with pretty green eyes) and was doing his best to announce the difference of lines pre-paid versus reservation/non pre-paid. What can I say, people just don’t listen but he came out periodically to ensure any new customers in the line knew which line. The wait was about 15min in the pre-paid line to pick up ham. The staff allowed me to pick up 2 sweet 12-ct Hawaiian roll bags. The ham was gooooddddd!!!!
Not my favorite. We got sandwiches. The meat seemed to be processed. The bread was stale. The green salad was the best. They used to be much better . Disappointed.
I love this place but I don't understand the inability to keep Ham Salad. One lovely person said she'd make it for me which is awesome! But other times I've come in, or called as I was asked to do and was told that there wasn't any. On Tuesday was told there wouldn't be any until Friday (????). This is a menu item. Why so many days without? Especially since it's made on site. Don't get that one. Left my info for a call when some was made, which I did receive but was dealing with a major problem at work and asked to call back when I had the opportunity. I was given a "you can't take 2 seconds to tell me what you want?" Really???? SMH Food excellent, service depends on who you're working with. Only reason for the lower stars. Service not consistent.
The lady seemed liked I was bothering her from her duties when I ordered my sandwich. I've been in customer service for almost 30 years so I can pickup the cues and clues. PERCEPTION IS EVERYTHING in a business. Normally the Young ladies that helped me out in previous visits we're very friendly. I've never seen this lady before at this location... Other than that, HoneyBaked Ham has very good quality food which I would rate five stars.
I've been going to the HBH store down in Palo Alto for years, but since their closing I needed to find a new location this year. This location made order ahead pick up super easy on Christmas eve, but the ham itself was super super dry. Usually the brown sugar is baked on but this seemed burnt and in one solid block. Not worth the money IMO, may have to consider a new Christmas Eve dinner option.
Friendly staff greet you and keep the flow of customers steady. Order ahead to secure the size you prefer or close to it. Note, they have a Weighted Product policy so make sure to ask how much the extra charge is if the staff say “we only have a ## pound ham.” Staff did not inform me the amount of the extra charge. As a first time customer, this should be explicitly stated out loud, spelled out clearly in the order online page (not just a link to a page) and not assumed that the customer knows it will cost an extra $20 for ham. I understand the policy but please inform customers of exact charges before the receipt is handed over as $55 is not the same as $75.
Went to grab a sandwich. Inside seems chaotic. The cashier shouted my order to the one making the sandwich. Apparently, he didn’t hear him so waited for a while. My side was potato salad & it was 2 days past the expiration date. $13 for a sandwich with thin slices of ham is not worth it. Meat was dry and the honey mustard tasted very processed.
This morning I arrived about 10 minutes early for my pre-order pick-up scheduled between 9:00–9:30 AM. To my surprise, the line extended out the door and two stores down. I didn’t expect the prepaid order line to be that long or to take an hour to receive my order. Meanwhile, walk-ins and customers who reserved but didn’t prepay online were served first, which made no sense. There was only one cashier assisting prepaid pick-up orders, while five others were helping walk-ins and unpaid reservations. Once I finally made it inside after about 45 minutes, the situation was even more confusing, with poor line organization and inconsistent customer service. Several customers were cutting in front of those who had been waiting, and staff did not appear to manage the line effectively. One employee noticed the issue and tried to move the prepaid line along, but by then it was already quite chaotic. It was disappointing that no staff member seemed to take the lead in resolving the disorganization or modeling effective customer service for the team. While I was relieved to finally receive my order, it was frustrating to have paid in advance and still experience such delays and confusion. I also noticed an additional charge on my prepaid order, which added to the frustration given the poor management of the holiday orders.
How do you ruin your Thanksgiving dinner? You cater your dinner Honey Baked Ham! We pre-ordered 10lb ham and 4 sides, paid handsomely for this and at pickup, we only got the ham and a small Bundt cake as they ran out of food. So how on earth did you run out of food that people have paid for in advance? And why was food being sold to walk-in customers when you are aware of a very long prepaid order pickup line? And why wasn't the store properly managed to properly handle the volume and the pickup crowd? I will be asking for a refund. $174 is too much to be paying for a Thanksgiving dinner with no sides and a Bundt cake that is wholely insufficient to feed everyone. Review update: I followed the manager/responder's instruction to leave feedback. I have yet to get any response and definitely did not get any resolution as of Dec 21, 2025. Completely unacceptable how the business is run. Management response (or lack of response) is even worse. Think twice before you patronize this business!
I had a truly disappointing and frustrating experience with Honey Baked. Read and avoid problems! Yesterday, I placed an online order for four servings of mashed potatoes to bring to my friends Thanksgiving dinner. Following the suggestion on their website, I paid in advance and scheduled a 2:00 PM pickup, since they claim it makes the process faster and avoids long lines. My wife arrived a little before the scheduled time, only to find out that there was just one single line for everyone. In other words, paying ahead of time made absolutely no difference. She ended up waiting TWO HOURS in line. When she finally reached the counter, she was told that they WERE OUT of mashed potatoes, the very product we had prepaid for. No solution was offered besides a refund. We paid a premium price, waited in line for two hours, and walked out WITH NOTHING. We then had to rush to a supermarket at 6 PM, a complete madhouse on Thanksgiving Eve, just to be able to buy ingredients and prepare mashed potatoes ourselves so we wouldn’t show up empty handed to our friends dinner. This business sells items it cannot deliver, fails to honor prepaid orders, and offers no real customer service or accountability. I strongly advise future customers not to rely on this store for holiday orders. Their lack of organization and responsibility caused us a major inconvenience on a day when timing matters most.
Honey Baked Ham being sold for 12+ pounds but are actually 8+ pounds. So disappointed 😞. I did say that the weight did not feel to me as 12 when i paid for it. As soon as i got home, i weighted on the bussiness scale next door and yes, my suspicion is right! I also bought a 3 pound + and that one is right. Double check, because i will be feeding a family of only boys and they eat good. And it's hard to get the money, I'm a single mama.
Called in for some food, a sandwich and some soup, no soup, no sides, was actually told that sides wouldn't be in for two days 😂 It says it is a cafè but there are no drinks on offer(not even coffee) The floors were ridiculously sticky, we just left!! What a joke!! Very disappointed as I'm sure the ham and turkey were lovely! ☹️
Normally love HBH, but scary visit today. Girl being trained was doing her hair...with her gloves on. Proceeded to help the next customer and was touching her face, trainer said nothing. Seriously, we are in the middle of a pandemic.
Doesn’t make sense. Not worth it. The children working don’t know how to service the restaurant.
When I went to pick up a ham, I had had a reservation for a specific size which wasn’t available. When I asked to talk to the manager, she was very aggressive and her tone was honestly just disrespectful and I felt disgusted by the way I was treated there, especially by the manager. She told me I basically had to take it or leave it…. I will never come back to this location ever again and hope that they are able to work on their customer service!! As someone who has worked in customer service for years, I found the behavior I encountered there just utterly unacceptable. I ended up just taking the size available regardless of my RESERVATION and left. Will not be coming back to this store.
Worst experience catering from them. The food was not ready when I ordered 3 days in advance. The employees were kind and apologized but when you do a large order for an event, you expect food to be ready to go when you arrive. I had to wait at least 35 min extra at the store. The whole experience was so frustrating that I’ll rather make food than have to deal with this company again
Really the worst thing. People buy these for family gatherings and special occasions. This one was about 1/3 smaller than advertised. When we got it, it had about a 1/2 inch think layer of honey over about. Alf of it. It was too hard to cut with a knife or fork and had to be broken with impact to access the ham. The ham was not "honey baked" at all, as the honey had not been cooked into the meat. It had no flavor and was dry. We called for direction. Should we put it into the oven to melt the hard layer? We were told no....that's how it was. If the honey didn't melt on, we could try and chew it at the risk of breaking teeth or throw the coating away. Very disappointing.
2 hour wait in line for thanksgiving pickup…no customer service even for canceling order
Came in to pick up on December 12 for a staff party we were hosting later that evening. Entire experience picking up my order was extremely uncomfortable for me and my friend. The cashiers seemed really annoyed and inconvenienced by our order. I work in the industry and recognize that larger orders can be stressful but they are good for business. As a customer spending $500, I feel human decency is a reasonable expectation. Also we ordered everything online a day before pickup so it's not like we were surprising them. One of the employees was cussing under his breath and the girl was making comments like "Ugh, another one." They sold all of the sides we reserved so we had to spend hours cooking for our staff. Did not apologize for not fulfilling our order and continued to act annoyed. I'm not the type of person to leave reviews but this really left a bad impression on me. Last year, we ordered with the same store and everything went very smoothly and the staff was helpful and nice. Not sure what happened this time.
Waited 3 hours on the line to pick up already paid order. Won’t be doing this again The sides are great, but they ran out of all the side by the time we got to the front of the line. the ham is way too salty, but hope that they will soon offer low sodium version of their meat offering for people with high blood pressure. Updating for 2024. I got a stomachache after consuming the stuffing side dish that tasted very sour.
We pre-ordered our ham, turkey and sides to be picked up Friday, after Thanksgiving since we were having our dinner on Saturday. We arrived and they apologized but told us our food was not there and it would be available in 10 days! What’s the purpose of prepaying and preordering to just be told , opps, sorry, we gave your order away! If I could give ZERO stars, I would! They’ve lost a customer!
Worst experience ever!!!!! Wish I could give zero stars. Had slot a 3 pm after driving 8 hours getting there right at 3 then having to wait 3 hours to get a pre paid meal. Not only that they didn’t have pie or mash potatoes did not even tell us until it was time to pick up. Never ever going to get this for thanksgiving EVER
They changed the beloved champagne mustard with a new recipe and it's total garbage now. Seems like they're legitimately hoping to go out of business.
Absolutely HORRIBLE experience. My husband and I prepaid a week ago for our Thanksgiving turkey and had reserved a 4:30pm time slot pick up for today, 11/26. My husband and I showed up, and there was a massive line outside, but we figured that all would be okay because we placed an order online and that we would be able to get our stuff eventually. We ended up waited THREE HOURS in the cold JUST to be told that they sold out of turkeys when we got to the front! Along with most other things that they sell!!! Are you kidding me???? How could that be possible when we prepaid for our turkey a week ago??? All they could offer was a refund. What an absolute joke. The service was complete trash and the line outside and inside of the store was a disorganized mess. Out of all the employees there, I’m appalled that none of them could use basic communication skills to keep people in the loop with what was going on. Had we known that they had run out of turkeys, we could have gotten out of line much sooner, disputed the charge, and had more time to figure out a back up plan. Now, it’s 7:30pm the night before Thanksgiving and we are without a turkey. Due to Honey Baked’s lack of organization, we have to figure out what we’re going to do for turkey for Thanksgiving tomorrow. Our entire family was looking forward to this. What a complete let down. I’ve been getting my turkeys/hams at Honey Baked for 10+ years and never had this bad of an experience. I will NEVER come to Honey Baked again and will NEVER recommend Honey Baked to anyone again. DO NOT GIVE HONEY BAKED YOUR BUSINESS!!!!
I didn’t get a chance to try the food—it was supposed to be my first time. Instead, I had a really disappointing experience, especially just a week before Thanksgiving. I went in with my mother, who wanted to order lunch. The cashier greeted me, but when I tried to place my order, things went downhill. First, they were out of Tri-tip. Then I tried ordering the Chicken Pot Pie—also unavailable. At that point I was frustrated, so I asked the cashier what items they *did* have, just so I could figure out what to order. He couldn’t give me an answer. A young lady from across the room, who was making sandwiches, called out that they didn’t have food because it was close to Thanksgiving. Fine. So I tried for a third option—a Chicken Sandwich—and they didn’t have that either. At that point, I just left. They really need to improve on communication, starting with putting up signs when items are sold out, the way Starbucks and other restaurants do. They should also make sure they have enough food prepared for both catering and walk-ins. For my first visit, this was a very bad experience, and it definitely left a negative impression.
Came our preordered Ham today at the scheduled time and found a line that stretched around the parking lot and heard people were waiting for 2+ hours. What’s the point of preordering something if you have to wait that long to get it? The line was basically not moving which told me something was seriously wrong with the way these preorders were being distributed. We quickly gave up and went home empty handed. Not the way I want to spend the day before Thanksgiving.
I ordered a turkey meal two weeks before Thanksgiving. I went there at the appointed time the day before Thanksgiving and saw two lines--one about a block long, the other two blocks. Those who like me had ordered and prepaid were directed to the longer line; it took more than two hours to get to the front, while those who did not pre-order took one hour (I asked someone in the other line). What made it even worse was that by the time I was served, two of the three sides I ordered were sold out. I relied on my order for a large Thanksgiving lunch. I felt very let down by this company.
NEVER buy from here. I ordered the Hawaiian bread with ham and swiss, tell me why it was one piece of ham on the 3 rolls, one slice of cheese and a tomato for $11.99? I could have literally made that at home but I was in such a rush for work. I will never come back here and I will always recommend anywhere else because this place is such a rip-off.
Waited 2 hours for prepaid Thanksgiving items that were sold out when I finally got to the counter. No communication to the people waiting outside in long lines and horrific management bordering on a scam given they’re taking money from walk-ins AND pre-orders when they knew they didn’t have enough food. No point pre-ordering and no point ever returning.
NEVER TRUST THIS BUSINESS! You order a pick up of turkey for Thanksgiving ahead of time and when you show up they say it’s sold out. I show them the order and say that even if you order it’s “first come first serve” which make no sense in that case to let people make an order for a specific pick up day. The stuff is also very rude and really have no care about you left with no turkey; all they say is first comes first serve. This used to be a good business but it’s going down.
