Always love supporting local, BIPOC businesses. If I lived in the area, this would be totally my go to coffee shop. Coffee was great. I just had a pastry but looks like there’s a food menu too. Lots of seating available when I went, although early on a weekday. Parking is in the back. Amazing music. Great book selection from Black Garnet Books. I didn’t have much time to browse the selection but it is something to do for next time.

This is a really pleasant cafe. The seats are comfortable, the windows are nice and big, and the overall atmosphere is just really welcoming and nice. There are many delicious sounding drinks and teas (a surprisingly big tea menu for a coffee shop) and the food is really delicious and made to order. The menu changes from breakfast to lunch, and there are many healthy and unique options. Love the sweet potato and kale with ancient grains bowl, so many flavors and textures! Everything I've had here has been good.

Love Flava!! One of my go-tos for the last 2 years (don’t know why it took me so long to leave a review…). Decor is beautiful - modern yet creative - and showcases local artists. Very clean. Great music that is not blasting. Perfect place for collaboration or focus work. The butter croissants are sooo good. Staff are friendly and the owner is AMAZING.

Flava is my go to cafe for good reason. Thr drinks are made very well and the cafe serves as a great community space. Plenty of space to work, relax, and there’s always someone there to strike up good conversation. I world recommend Flava any day.

I discovered Flava Coffee and Cafe while running an errand in St. Paul, and I'm so glad I did! I love the vibe, their playlist, and I enjoyed a terrific cup of coffee. The owner and the employee were super nice. Come for the hospitality and stay for the delicious coffee. I hope to check out the food menu on my next visit. I'll definitely be back. I ❤️ a good coffee shop!

This is a welcoming place. Feels like an essential part of its neighborhood but open to first timers like me. Coffee is served in a large handsome stoneware mug, a nice touch for sure. Art and inspiration on the walls. Mix of modern and comfy furniture. Light rail stop right out front. This was a good find.

I stopped here for an open mic night. Loved the atmosphere. The service was great. I parked in the back parking lot but there’s also street parking. The seating arrangements are open and fun. Felt cozy!

I had the "Miss Thang" breakfast bowl. Light, yet tasty and fulfilling and well displayed. Good vibes music 🎶 relaxing and great place to chat, have a laptop to work. They have Free cold water.

Wow!! Tried Flava coffee for the first time today with my partner and had a wonderful time! Delicious coffee, really warm espresso taste, offers nondairy milk and breakfast/lunch options, and the staff were very friendly. This place is welcoming, inviting, supports the community and is clearly social justice oriented. They have comfy couches, cute murals, cute lights and it isn’t too loud here either :) could see it as a nice study/relax spot. Will be back some time for sure

This place is great! It's conveniently located on the Green Line Dale Street light rail stop and right across from the Rondo library. They had a great selection of coffee, breakfast items, and sandwiches. I went in the morning and it was quiet, but very comfortable. There are tables and comfortable couches. They have a great selection of books by black authors and posters and artwork of influential black folks. There was even a little reading library inside. I haven't been, but they hold an open mic night on Thursdays. The only slightly negative thing I can say about this place is that the food did take a little longer than, say, Starbucks. But this place is run by the owner. And the food was like getting a home cooked meal and not something pre-cooked and warmed up in the microwave. So it's totally worth the wait! Can't wait to spend more time there!

Flava coffee and cafe has really good food! I asked for the Zion bowl with ancient grains and they gave me the lettuce bowl and I went up to ask if I could get the grain but the women was giving attitude when I just asked for the grain bowl that I paid $13 for… and it just wasn’t the vibe. The staff if very uptight and not really social and mostly on there phone. I really wished the experience was better as the food was good but the service just makes me not want to come back 🥺 Update: I just read some of the reviews people have given about the service and as I was leaving the women who I was talking about previously, apologized about the issue and then proceeded to ask me about the bowl and I complimented her on the sauce and it was really sweet. I’ll be coming back for sure now ❤️

Flava Cafe is a warm hug, embracing the essence and individualism of poets, artists, and community members. Flava is a comforting cafe to listen to music, learn, connect, and be reminded that you are loved one latte at a time. I had the bell hooks, iced with whipped cream, and the Audre Lorde with whipped cream to wash down my soy chorizo burrito.

Just dropped by this place earlier this month. Such a vibe and cute shop like they have everywhere in Minneapolis. One thing I don’t like is the cost of food here. I ordered the small bell hooks coffee with oatmilk. The base price was $4 but then another $4 was tacked on (maybe the oat milk?) nonetheless I paid $8 for a coffee that was okay. The next time I came I opted not to get any food as who can seriously afford buying food items every visit. I got the complementary water instead. My visit that I had today (07/07/23) my sister ordered a small smoothie which was $6 (she said it was good but it wasn’t amazing). Then she ordered a BLT which was $12. It came on paper plate (compostable 🙌🏾) and some BBQ chips. She said the ingredients were good but she said the sandwich was tasteless.

This place is a vibe, a moment, and a fresh breeze. If the playlist doesn't soothe your soul, get yourself some sustenance from the counter. Already planning to stop by on my next trip to St. Paul.

I love the vide at FLAVA! They chose the right name because everything here has flava! The food was delicious, music flowing smooth and grooving, and the setting relaxing. I went about 1:15 thinking I’ll go have lunch and find me a corner it was packed with people still coming in. As the crowd began to clear out I was able to find my spot, after 3 moves! LOL That’s how packed it was! Come down to St. Paul and check this place out! It’s right on the corner and parking in back. There’s something for everyone so don’t worry about if it’s the place for you. The crowd was mixed with age, race, and class. I hope to see you here!

Highly recommend stopping in for a coffee and food. Both exceeded my expectations. bell hook coffee hit the spot. The flavors come together nicely and makes you want to enjoy another one. Grabbing a bit to eat, I had Two Fridas which was filling, healthy and delicious all at the same time! Looking forward a place to meet up with someone this is a place. Atmosphere is great!

Flava is a great addition to the neighborhood! Situated at the corner of University and Dale the cafe is in a prime spot for ease of access. It is right next to the light-rail stop and if you are coming by car there is parking lot around back. I hung out and worked for a few hours on my most recent visit but with a nice mix of hard and soft seating it would also be an enjoyable spot for a casual chat or collaborative working session. One minor grip might be that there were limited power outlets, but as long as you have a full charge that’s never really going to be a problem. Beyond the overall quality the other inspiring aspect of Flava is their mission to build community and radical imagination through coffee and service that eliminates disparities for Black girls and gender expansive youth.

Flava Coffee & Cafe is a delightful new coffee shop off University Ave. I ordered the U.N.I.T.Y Sandwich which was delicious! The sandwich had amazing flavor from the chicken, cheese, and chipotle sauce. I also had the Bluest Eye smoothie. This was also quite good and I could really taste the blueberries, mango, and oat milk. Finally, I took home some of their soft mini banana bread loaves. Gorgeous interior decoration and plenty of space inside and outside on the patio. I enjoyed my first visit to Flava Coffee & Cafe and look forward to visiting again!

Flava cafe is a great new place to try out. The menu are names related to historical African American figures. I ordered Octavia Butler latte with caramel and a sausage bagel breakfast sandwich. Both were good dishes for a light morning breakfast. You can customize your order. I ordered a breakfast sandwich without cheese because they make it to order. It's worth a try. You'll enjoy the atmosphere of the building that will give you a front row view of a busy street. Flava cafe is a new cafe to try with a relaxing atmosphere and black owned business.

Nice atmosphere and decor. Good sized cafe. Does not feel cramped at all. Good menu options. Drinks are prepared well. I had the tuna melt which was good. The chips have a nice spice to them. Prices are fair. The customer service is hit or miss. It’s very too cool for school type of customer service I’ve gotten-never been asked my name for my order and been smiled at once by the person taking my order. I debate about going back even though I like the spot.
