Ernie's Empanadas Columbia Reviews
Very friendly staff and good food selection. This is a classic diner setting with warm portions and nice people. The classic building outside is a nice landmark and the neon interior with black and white floors. We ordered the #11, French toast, bacon and eggs with a side of sliced tomatoes. All of the food was prepared quickly and the quality was great!
12/10 experience. I got breakfast after the gym and I love that they open so early! It was pretty full for just opening. My server was great and very attentive.
First time here. The service was top notch, atmosphere and vibe was nostalgia at it's best. We had breakfast was made perfectly! We had great conversation with waitress.will definitely be back when we come back to Columbia,MO.
12/19/25. It was cozy. I enjoyed seeing the pedestal seating of a vintage Cafe. The wait staff was awesome. The table had water and menus waiting for us. The food was good. The price reasonable. The portions were more than I could eat in one meal. I'd go there again for a cafe experience. The restrooms were upstairs. I did not use them.
I have only ever had wonderful experiences here! Everyone’s so kind, the food is delicious and reasonably priced, and the environment is lovely! My boyfriend and I come here all the time. Out of St. Louis, Chicago, and Columbia diners, this is by far his favorite (and mine, too!)
Absolutely fantastic little diner. My wife got a great burger, we got pancakes to split, but I ordered the sk strip sandwich. And I got the best kc strip I've ever had, plopped right on two pieces of toast. The wait staff was attentive, the food and drinks came out quick. Can't recommend it enough.
First time visiting and I can’t believe I’ve waited so long to try Ernie’s. We went on a Sunday morning so I was worried about that wait but we got seated almost immediately. Our waiter was amazing and the food was really good. Unfortunately they had just ran out of biscuits and gravy when we got there but our waiter suggested the #1 on a bun and it was very good! Usually I don’t love going to businesses downtown, especially on a weekend when there’s an event going on, due to parking but Ernie’s is about a 3 minute walk from the parking garage on walnut. Will definitely come back.
This was probably one of the best diner experiences I've had in a long time. The food was amazing, I got the sampler and my partner got the French toast and both were exactly what you want for a nice breakfast. The servers were extremely friendly and quick with taking orders. The place was a bit loud but in a way that made it feel more comfortable, and facilitated having more fun conversations with your party. We were there shortly after it opened and there was no line, but I've been made aware that if you wait a bit it tends to get pretty busy, and a line normally forms. If you're looking for a good breakfast in Columbia and the line isn't out the door this is the place to go!
Favorite breakfast in Columbia! I absolutely love Ernie’s! The servers are great! The eggs are always perfect! The atmosphere is fun and nostalgic. Truly you can’t help but love the place. It is good every single time!!!
Stopped in before leaving Columbia, started the day off great. Service was fantastic, everyone pleasant and polite and the food was great. Had the #8 ham steak and #12 the sampler, eggs were perfect and portions good, not too much but more than enough. We took a chance not wanting to eat in the hotel and this was perfect. Great food and at a good price. We will be back on our next trip to Columbia. I highly recommend you’ll love it.

The service is friendly and quick, which makes the wait time for a table shorter than you would expect! This spot is known for their steaks, but you have to try the biscuits & gravy or the stacked French toast! Honestly, you can't go wrong ordering anything on the breakfast menu. If you are looking for a vintage vibe breakfast spot with spectacular entrees, visit Ernie's Cafe & Steak House!
We went to Ernie’s Café & Steakhouse for a weekday lunch. It felt more like a café than a steakhouse. They offer breakfast and lunch every day. It was the perfect place for American comfort food. We each ordered something different. Our food came quickly and it was hot, fresh, and tasty. Our server was very friendly and helpful. The service and the charming Art Deco design of the building created a wonderful, upbeat atmosphere. They have been in business since 1934, which shows their dedication to good food and service.
Best American diner I've ever tried! Everything is delicious and homemade. There's nothing negative about this place at all! Be careful since it can get pretty packed during busy hours. Also, it's worth mentioning that once I got eggs, which were cooked in a way that I didn't like, and I regretted it, but thanks to the kind waitress she got me new eggs cooked well with no additional charge. It really is American hospitality at its finest! 100% recommend! 😉🤗
Places was crammed, tables were dirty although the lady working was working hard. There was a large group and she was doing her best. Food was ok, greasy spoon type place, great for a hang over but not your anniversary.
Atmosphere is good here, has old times vibes. You seat yourself here. So no waiting on that..I ordered the Anderson burger and got fries as my side. Food was good as well.Chloe, not sure if that's spelled rght lol, she was a great server. She let me try a chai latte, I was not for sure about those. They are not my cup of tea, so to speak lol. But she replaced it with a Cappuccino. I did not like that either. Usually a Cappuccino is sweet, the ones I've had in the past anyway. Food and service would bring me back, coffee would not.
