If you're in the mood for great beer and a lively atmosphere, Cool Beerworks is definitely worth the trip. Located a bit off the beaten path, we made the drive from Lincoln to check it out, and it did not disappoint. The selection of beers is impressive, with a variety that caters to all tastes. Whether you're a fan of hoppy IPAs, smooth stouts, or something more experimental, there's something for everyone on the menu. The full bar is a nice touch, adding to the welcoming vibe. While we didn’t get a chance to try the food ourselves, it was hard to miss the tables stacked with plates of food, which seemed to be a big hit with the crowd. The place was definitely busy, but the energy was fun and vibrant, making it a great spot to hang out with friends or meet new people. All in all, Cool Beerworks lives up to its reputation for excellent beer and a fun, bustling environment. It was definitely worth the drive, and we’ll be back to sample more of what they have to offer next time!
For a small town location, this restaurant and brewery with a full bar is a welcomed treat. The sushi is fresh and flavorful, with many different rolls and other menu options. The beer selection is wonderful. I usually go for a sour, which they had 2 of their own available on tap. The staff is our favorite part of the experience. They are always attentive and friendly and go the extra mile to accommodate our 2 year old when we bring him in with us. They do get a little slower during peak dinner hours but if you plan to order appetizers and drinks they will come out quickly and you will hardly notice the wait.
Great experience. The service was quick and very attentive. The sushi was very good for a small town brewery. Never had a complaint... would highly recommend to anyone in the area wanting to have a good meal . A good range of beer that acquires to all tastes.
We were a group of 7. Service was very good. Sushi was awesome. Not expected for a small place. And the beer was especially delicious. Definitely worth stopping by. We'll definitely be back when we return to visit family in the area.
I’m a ‘regular’ as in, I live within throwing distance. This is a ‘home town’, very small town doing an AMAZING job at balancing being a really GOOD brewery with a surprisingly good menu (who the HECK gets SUSHI this far outta city limit?!?) with being friendly and gracious yet surviving these really rough times for small businesses. I feel so lucky to have this place here in Cool!
This place was very Cool. Get it? See what I did there? Pretty unique - a brew house that has sushi and Hawaiian food! Don't see that on the mainland too often, definitely going to be a regular stop when in the area. I didn't take any pictures though but here's a picture of a cat in a box. That's Knicky and she's a very sweet girl
HOLY CRAP this place is amazing! Neil served us in the bar and our service was phenomenal. Food exceptional and great drinks! 1000% recommend.
Stopped in this cute little Bar / Restaurant. We wanted to try their beer there. It was a really nice selection of beers too. Forgot the name of beer that I tried, but I'm a light beer drinker. The waiter gave me a suggestion on one to try. It was really good. Will be coming back to try more beers and their food next time I'm in the area.
One of our favorite places on the Divide. The owners are amazing, friendly and fun. We love the live bands they bring in. The staff has been great to us as well. I LOVE the Steve-O roll. It's my favorite. Our son is all about the shrimp stack. Our daughter is picky, and love both the fish and chips as well as the chicken with rice instead of fries. We love the selections of beer, and beer sushi pairings have been a lot of fun. ❤️ An absolute treasure on the Divide.
Best Sushi ive had in all of Placer County, Roseville and Sacramento!!!!!
Good beer. And they take their reviews seriously. Seriously good beer and food.
This is the spot to go for sushi! Delicious! They even made my rolls special without rice and it was so good! The food was so good, I forgot to take pictures. You have to check this place out. My favorites were the Gold Rush and the Hamachi roll.
Very well-balanced beers and delicious food. We liked that they had a variety of beers on tap, in a range of styles. The Stinger Honey Wheat, Hopademic IPA, and Monkey Nutz Coconut Porter were all standouts, but their other beers tasted good, too. I highly recommend doing the two flights so you can sample them all. Food was on point as well, and service here was quick. The Spam Loco Moco and Chicken Teriyaki tasted great, and the portion sizes were reasonable. So glad we came by the check them out!
The beer is fantastic! I am not an IPA guy, and they have several great beers that are not IPAs. Also they have a full bar and make really great drinks! The food is eclectic. Hawaiian food. Nice. Sushi rolls, Spam Musubi, poke bowls, all are excellent! And great burgers too!
Loved this place!!! After a six mile hike we hit Cool Beerworks for beer and lunch. Both the food and beer were delicious. They even had two new sours that were amazing. Thanks to our waitress Allison for recommending the Cheese Burger. It was so good!!! With so many menu options I couldn't decide. Also, dogs are allowed in their outside seating area.
Adored coming to Cool Beerwerks on the way back to the Bay Area after a snow day at Lake Tahoe. The menu has a variety on things to choose from burgers to sushi to satisfying anyone’s cravings at the time. Our group got some of both and everything was great! They don’t skimp on those poke nachos, a definite hit for us. They have some nice beers on tap or try a flight if you want. Our favorite ended up being a Honeydew lager which sadly might only be seasonal. But some of the others we tried were great as well! They have some cans available to buy home or you can also get crowlers. The staff were super friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was nice and chill and plenty of people dining in on a weekend evening. Would happily stop by again!
Came here on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. I have to say that the location is not what I expected but the food, service and beer were definitely above average. Had the beer flight and enjoyed the double IPA. Got the Camino roll which was good but the standout item was the ahi nachos! GET THESE POKE NACHOS! I would go back just for those! One of the best things I have had in a long time.
Such a great meal after a hike, poke nachos ...amazing ..and spam musubi ..kid approved... with delicious beer!! Service was so friendly and they even have dog bowls on the patio and fresh cooked chicken for your hungry pooch! Not to be missed!
Beer was delicious! Locals & staff were very friendly. Most unexpectedly, the sushi was INCREDIBLE! I don't remember what I ordered because it was a special (torched w/lemon), but I was blown away! As a visitor from San Diego I certainly didn't expect to find fresh, delicious & inventive sushi in Cool but that's exactly what I got. Keep it up!!
FANTASTIC sushi and miso soup! Loved the Lotus Roll and Base Jumper !! Definitely blown away and service was also excellent! Support local biz and check them out.
I'm from out of town and my nephew suggested Sushi. I'm like Sushi in Cool... not very high expectations. I was blown away by how good it was. Highly recommend. Excellent beer also.

Amazing variety of options for food. Just the standard cheese burger was fire and cooked to perfection. Other family members got noodles, rice and marinated chicken and the pulled pork sandwich and it all was very good. Highly recommend when visiting Cool! Super sick environment too!!
Stopped in to get some beer to go. They let me sample some of their draft beers and they were fantastic. I bought 2 Crowlers and a mixed 4-pack. Staff was super friendly. We didn't eat but saw there burgers and regret not getting one because they looked delicious. Highly recomend.
Love this place, my family and I have been coming here for a long time! Food is always great and the servers are all very kind.

My mom and I had a really nice lunch here a couple of months ago. They definitely do have a very large selection to chose from. We both ordered sushi and that was fresh and quite delicious. Everything was so good we ordered a whole other meal to go for dinner. It was far too hot to cook and the food was far to good to say no to. A little bit of a wait, service can tend to be a little slow but your time is not wasted I promise!
Nice place to relax and have a beer. Food quality and quantity for the price was lacking. The fish and chips for 13 were 3 small skinny pieces of fish and not that many fries. The sushi roll was good, (if a little heavy on the mustard sauce). People were nice. And it was good on a hot day.
What I liked: Food was decent-had their cheeseburger subbed the patty for their vegetarian option, yum. Service was great! I felt we were definitely taken care of. What I didn’t like: They charged around 4 percent extra for charging the meal to my credit card👎🏽. That’s a little steep especially when credit card processors don’t even charge that. I know-I have my own business.
I love to give 5 star ratings. I do. I would have because this place made my companion happy bc of the Hawaiian food and that makes me happy. The food was really good, we had coconut shrimp, potstickers, spam musubi, and dragon roll. (He did not have a moco loco 🙄) The beer was good and I'm not really a beer drinker. The service was...odd. (We were there for lunch, it was NOT busy.) 1. We were asked if we wanted to order before we saw the menu. 2. We were asked if we wanted to order "more" before our appetizers were even delivered. 3. Chick brought our tab before any food was delivered. We felt...rushed. We don't like that. We'll probably go back once bc Cool is a nice drive from Auburn and we support outliers but not twice if the service is still weird.
The curry with fried rice and Volcano bowl were delicious. The servers were friendly and upbeat. The servers checked the n our needs regularly, but not so much as to be annoying. The only reason I didn't rate a 5 is that a few beers listed on the menu were not available.
I'll be back. The sushi was good considering how far we are from the ocean and the selection they had. The beer selection and execution was really good too. There was something for everyone (as long as you like sushi and beer)
The establishment seemed like a really cool place, the employees were great. This is my first time here and im just grabbing some fish and chips to go. Was told over the phone that my order would be ready at 6:30. Walked in the door at 6:32 and was told that it would be a cpl. more mins.(no problem at all) I was even offered a drink "on the house" while I waited. Pretty sure it was a solid 20 mins more before I was out the door , food in hand. Now, while I was waiting...... the sushi creations being brought out of the kitchen by the servers looked amazing! I'm born and raised in L.A. and have traveled and I know my sushi. I was kicking myself for only getting the fish and chips, seriously looked that good ! Then... I got to eating my order. Did I mention the LA and traveling things, oh ya..... Well I know my fish and chips !! I was surprised the fish was not in the shape of little dinosaurs, ya know like the name brand boxed stuff from the supermarket. Pretty sure it was something similar. To be fair it was not like "van decamp" bad. More like Gordon's..... And it did not come with malt Vinegar! (I know right) Not what I was expecting, especially after seeing what was coming out of the kitchen. But hey, the fries were great ! A generous 4 stars ! I'm not giving up on you Beer Werks, I will be back, to dine in this time, and give you another chance at getting that fifth star. I think you have potential !! The place was clean, the staff was happy and I even like the rock n roll theme. Oh and I think they even sold merchandise.
Taking a cruise in the hills of El Dorado , with the sun on our faces . We decided to stop for lunch . We came to a cross road in Cool on Coloma Rd (highway 49). A brewery that I had known of is the place. Stop by , it's great.
Good pub fare. Service is slow always. Their kitchen is quite small. Friendly always, the waitress worked really hard and did a great job in spite of being rushed. Sorry, thought to take a pic half way in. Buffalo chicken sandwich was really good but not spicy. Order spicy for the extra kick.

Had to update: This place has gone down hill in quality over the year, but that seems to be everywhere these days. You pay more for less. If your beer on tap is warm you shouldn’t even serve it. Taco Tuesdays are probably the only days I come anymore. The best place in cool by long shot. Enjoy coming here about once a week for dinner. I do wish they would change the sushi rolls up a bit, they are basically all the same roll, not enough difference in them. And beware the poke nachos could use some poke with the nachos. Calamari would be a great addition to the menu imo. These are the only reasons it doesn’t get 5 stars.
The new owner keeps saying the other restaurants are doing the extra charge, they aren't. I used a Debit card which means the $ comes out right away. I paid nearly $18 for 1 roll. We live local and frequent all of the options nearby. This was our 1st time since new ownership. The food was only okay. I'll just keep bringing home better sushi at a better price from Auburn. Won't be back until they rescind the extra charge. I've never paid so much for 1 roll anywhere. Bummer.
Nice friendly service with tasty beers. Would recommend the wings (excellent), but not the nigiri sushi (really poor quality). Our friends had the vegan dishes, and both got thumbs up.
Food was good, waitress was friendly but they were out of many of the beers we had gone there to try.
There are not a lot of restaurants to choose from in the Cool area. I can see why Cool Beerwerks is a popular place. They serve American, Hawaiian and Japanese cuisine. The three of us had each cuisine. The hamburger, sushi and Hawaiian food was good, but not yummy enough to drive up Hwy 49 for a bite to eat. If you live in the surrounding area this is a great spot. We visited Cool for the first time and had lunch and a beer at Cool Beerworks. The menu is large and offers a variety of cuisine. Our burger and chicken sandwich were good. They seemed understaffed, and we weren’t offered water at all or beer refills when we had empty glasses. Food did come timely. We won’t go out of our way to go, but if you’re in/around Cool it’s a good option for beer and food.

Waitress was super sweet. Cook put onions, even though we said onions on the side. Waitress offered to remake, and the next one came back with half the anything.. point noted lol. May stay away from strip malls for awhile
Excellent drinks, if they still serve Whats on their menu OR if they have the ingredients for the drink you order. Granted it is Friday night, but I got here at 6pm and am still waiting for my food at 7pm. Barley got my soup 50 minutes into my visit, water came about 30 minutes in and my cocktail came about 10 minutes after my water. An hour in I'm asking if my food will be here soon because I have to be somewhere in an hour. At this point I’m asking for my bill and we will eat elsewhere. Overall the chick who served us was nice so for her I give an extra star. Otherwise one star was pushing it. If you can’t handle the fire stay out of the kitchen. Guess there is a reason most restaurants don’t survive. If they do, they owe the locals big time.
What a bummer. Service was appalling. Tried to continue having an enjoyable time but our server was atrocious they had to replace her. Home for a week, was looking for an enjoyable place to take my mom for dinner in the little time we had. We both regretted going.
We came here on a Saturday dinner/beers and got here around 5:10pm. We waited for a bit and got in to the table by the bar. The waitresses were nice and we ordered beers and sushi. Okay, the beers came quickly and then we waited and waited and waited about 30 minutes our appetizer (Hawaiian fried shrimp) to arrive. And then we waited, waited and waited for another 50 minutes for main dishes (2 sushi rolls, 4 hand rolls) to arrive. I understand it was a Saturday and you were short of kitchen staff, but come on, why did it take so long to make a few sushi rolls? It was almost about 1.5 hours after we sat down that we finally got our main dishes on the table. I was hungry and became hangry. The beers were nice and the food was okay but the kitchen was just too slow! I would not come back.
***Thank you for the response Megan. While I appreciate the offer of a refund, the primary concern here is not the money; it’s that food in this condition was served and made it out the door, resulting in my wife unknowingly consuming some of the old fries. That represents a breakdown in basic food safety and quality control that should never reach a customer. I hope the corrective steps you mentioned are taken seriously so no one else ever has a similar experience.****** Pictures speak for themselves. This is a serious failure in food safety and quality control, made worse by the fact that my wife unknowingly ate some of the fries before realizing their condition—and that we paid good money for food like this. We will not be returning or spending another dollar here; customers ordering to-go should inspect their food before leaving and demand a refund if it looks anything like this, as this level of care raises serious concerns about how customers are being treated and basic sanitation standards.
First time I walked in the employees and locals were extremely rude, never went back. Nite and day between here and Georgetown. Bad people bad attitudes bad vibes. My experience was a few years ago, bump into owner occasionally... makes sense.

Have slowly watched this place go down hill. And this Thursday was the final nail in the coffin. The bar tender was rude and really didn't seem to have any passion for his job. The two rolls we ordered were sloppy and the presentation was subpar at best. Unfortunately this is the last strike.
