CdM Corona Del Mar Reviews
This place is great for a delicious cocktail or a decadent meal or both. We had a variety of dishes, which included the beef tartar, chicken picatta, sausage pizza, and charred Octopus. My favorite was the Octopus 🐙. Overall, it was a great dining experience with a cool vibe. Highly recommend!
Steven is the best bartender! Attentive, kind and always smiling. Love coming here for date nights and always recommending to all of our friends
Came with another couple to celebrate a birthday. We all had a wonderful meal and a wonderful, memorable evening that was nonpretentious. Dress preferred is business casual. This was a fun, upbeat restaurant. Service was exceptional!
One of my favorite restaurants in CDM. First started with an espresso martini and it was delicious. Then got the meat and cheese board for an appetizer. For my main dish, I got the chicken piccata and it didn’t disappoint. My boyfriend got the halibut and it was AMAZING. There is always a little speakeasy bar downstairs. It’s pretty hard to get into but the drinks are made by a mixologist and I highly recommend stopping in.
Came in on a Saturday night with a reservation to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. We were seated immediately. Abigail was our server and bartender and she was so sweet and attentive!! The entire staff made sure our table stayed clean and that our items came at a reasonable time. We both loved our pasta plates, especially the brussels sprouts. Dessert was brought out and Abigail brought my bf a nice card that the entire restaurant signed wishing him a happy birthday, which was so thoughtful- never been to a place that did that. Thank you so much!
Had friends visiting from out of town and needed to setup dinner/drinks. Was able to pull something together thanks to the greatest hostess Mia at CdM. Amazing service. She went above and beyond for us - was able to get us in for drinks at under CdM and then an inside dinner table thereafter due to cancellations. Incredible drink menu downstairs - the bartender at under CdM was the best (sorry don't recollect his name). All the food options were solid. Overall a great time with great company. Thanks again Mia!!
Went here before we went to see the lights at Sherman Library and this place was so fancy and gorgeous. Parking was bad though, you had to look for it. We sat at the bar and literally only ordered the side dishes because everything was pricey and just too fancy for us. But the sides were yummy, i loved the brussel sprouts and the broccolini. The sides were big too, perfect for sharing and there was 3 of us. I wish there were better entree options too but nothing really caught my eye.
I was there for a private Christmas party at the speakeasy under CdM. The place is awesome, pretty cozy, and has excellent service. Before dinner the space was open to mingle and then they had a large dinner table set up for everyone. The cocktails were great and appetizers amazing. The spicy tuna bite was divine it melted in your mouth with some crunch from the base really excellent. For dinner The ribeye was perfectly cooked and the mac and cheese side one of the cheesiest I've had it was so good. The apple tart for desert was so balanced sweet, tart crunchy and creamy loved it. I'd highly recommend the experience.
Everything on the menu is delicious…we love the roasted carrots with cumin yogurt, charred octopus and any pasta…the interior is cozy and the booths are my favorite. We tend to go as a foursome and share plates. The smaller tables don’t lend themselves to sharing, as the space is limited. So, if you’re a sharer, get a booth. If you’re ordering individual dishes, then a 4 top works fine. The outdoor seating is not my favorite and we always request an inside table. It just doesn’t have the same vibe. Cocktails are always great.
Great ambiance with very good food. The octopus is fantastic, as well as the ahi bites on eggplant. The pastas were good but we steered clear of the expensive entrees. Excellent service from the wait staff. Park in the neighborhood and enjoy the walk. You can valet too.
Brandon, the bartender at the downstairs bar, was incredible. His knowledge of the art of making cocktails is unreal. His authentic passion made it such an incredible experience. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Best drinks in town, hands down!
This is a review on the speakeasy. I had my birthday last night and it was such a great time. The ambiance is so amazing and perfect for a birthday party. We brought in our own playlist so I could dance to all my favorite songs. The photobooth was so much fun. Juan made sure the food kept coming and was so kind. But the star of the night was Brandon the bartender. He went above and beyond for us. He was the bartender for 22 guests, making tasty drinks very quickly all night long. But he also handled our very annoying requests to constantly change our playlist all night. I imagine we were pretty tipsy and wild but he handled us all with kindness and professionalism and he really played a role in making my birthday fun. HIGHLY Recommend!
We had a great night. The food was fresh with a beautiful presentation. All four of us really enjoyed our meals. Not to mention the wonderful cocktails. Our waitress was very informative, professional and guided us in the right direction for all of our options. Not to mention the manager Matt who went above and beyond for me... I am very grateful for the way he turned my evening around. Next time I visit from Boston I’ll be sure to return to this restaurant.
I had such a beautiful experience at CDM Restaurant in Corona Del Mar. The atmosphere is stylish yet relaxed, with the perfect coastal vibe that makes you feel like you’re on a mini getaway. The service was warm, attentive, and professional from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can really taste the quality in every bite. Whether you’re going for a date night, girls’ night, or just a special dinner, this place is such a great choice. Highly recommend if you’re in the Corona Del Mar area and looking for amazing food and a lovely ambiance. Can’t wait to go back 🤍✨
My husband and I had such an amazing experience at CDM last night that I felt compelled to write a review. It was our four year anniversary and I am also eight months pregnant, so date night was questionable to begin with, but we wanted to make it happen. We recently moved to Newport earlier this year and I had bookmarked CDM as a place I wanted to check out. I had mentioned in our reservation that it was our anniversary and I can't tell you how special the staff made us feel with gestures that were above and beyond. Some restaurants don't even read the notes, so I never expect much, but for a first experience at this restaurant, and for a special occasion, it was such a great experience. Our server was top-notch, atmosphere was great, and the food was delicious, but the cherry on top was the service and extra details to make us feel special. We will absolutely be back, highly recommend - thank you!
I love the vibe of this place! This was my second time dining at CDM, and I have to say the food, drinks, and service remain consistent. We had Mia as our server, and she more than delivered. We made it just in time for HH which got us some pretty good deals on cocktails and appetizers. We started with the Cauliflower Hummus and Pita Bread it is simple, but so creamy and flavorful. I loved everything about it. The Charred Octopus with roasted potatoes was also perfectly cooked to my liking. For mains, I went with the Black Tiger Shrimp + Linguine. It was delicious, but sadly I didn’t finish it (I don’t eat pasta often but indulge every now and then just took the rest home). My boyfriend ordered the CDM Fancy Pizza and finished the whole thing so I’ll let that speak for itself. Lol. We tried a few cocktails their Sam’s Old Fashioned, the Blood Orange Sour, plus a glass of wine. For dessert, we ordered the Corn Madeleines this is our second time getting them and honestly, they’ve become our favorite. Overall, a great experience once again. Mia truly made it even better! She was juggling a lot but still made sure we were well taken care of. Thank you Mia and CDM! We’ll definitely be back.
My friend was visiting from LA, and we were on the hunt for a spot that had great food, a cool beachy vibe, and good energy. After poking our heads into a few places in the village, nothing felt quite right—until we walked into CdM Restaurant. Instantly, we loved it. The light was pouring in through the windows, giving the space a warm, sunlit glow, but it still felt intimate and cozy. They had electronic music playing in the background—it was the perfect Saturday afternoon vibe. Parking was a breeze right on PCH, which was a nice bonus. We were seated right away by the hostess at a great table for two, and our server Ruby was an absolute gem—sweet, helpful, and spot-on with her recommendations. We started with the yellowtail on crispy fried eggplant (so good), shared the chopped salad (super fresh and flavorful), and split the blue cheese burger (my knees were tingling). Everything was delicious. We each had margaritas—mine with tequila, my friend’s with mezcal—and they were perfectly balanced. The drinks, the food, the music, the ambiance… it all came together effortlessly. Alberto also helped us and was outstanding. Not only was he friendly and professional, but he had so much knowledge about the brand and the owner’s other ventures—from A Market on PCH, to Crystal Cove, to a restaurant in Long Beach, and even the Lido Theater. As a local real estate agent, I’m always asking questions to better understand my community, and Alberto represented the company with genuine pride and passion. I also learned from Ruby about their members-only cigar lounge upstairs (which I’m now determined to check out—my friend’s a member and has been inviting me), and the speakeasy-style bar downstairs, which I had no idea existed, and thus area can even be reserved for private events. All in all, it was an amazing first-time experience. Great service, great food, great vibe. I’ll definitely be back—and I’d absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting or living in the area.
Great place overall, but it's not really suitable for kids (just in case you're planning to bring them). It's perfect for a romantic date or a fancy party
The food was really good paired with awesome service. They had an excellent drink menu. The cocktails we tried were really good.
Great decor, atmosphere. Customer service was exceptional. Loved the drinks. Food was delicious- try the rolls and apps. Loved that they even wrote a personalized card for the birthday boy from the whole staff.
Somehow this was our first time dining at CdM and it most definitely will not be our last. Everyone we interacted with was super friendly and nice. The valet attendant is hilarious! Due to making the reservation day of we had to take an outside seating option. We got to see the inside dining area as we checked in with the hostess and will make sure next time to reserve in advance to be inside. Such great ambiance! Very inviting. Our server (unfortunately cannot remember his name) was extremely helpful with the menu. We started with the strawberry beet salad that was fresh and delicious. The vibe check is my favorite cocktail from this restaurant group. It is so light and not too sweet. Simply perfection! I was torn between chicken piccata and cacio e pepe and he suggested I get the pasta as the side for the chicken piccata. What a great idea! I honestly couldn’t decide which was my favorite. Both are amazingly flavored dishes. The tomato salad it comes with is such a fresh addition as well. My husband got the skirt steak charred medium rare and it arrived perfectly cooked to his picky expectations. He was beyond happy! Apparently the chef was cooking the steaks so we hope it is as good next time. The mac and cheese is also super cheesy with a nice smoky flavor. We were too full for dessert but will make sure to make room next time. I must try the strawberry rhubarb tart. Thank you CdM for providing the perfect date night. We will be back!
Great decor, atmosphere. Customer service was exceptional, thank you Ruby. Loved their craft cocktails, highly recommend to obtain reservations for the bar.
Interestingly unexpected indoor layout. Before entering the restaurant itself, you pass through this almost narrow path, looking at the outdoor seating, you may not be too impressed, but once you enter into this nice and comfortable restaurant, you’re immediately in comfortable mood. Love the color of the walls, the lighting, the bar area that’s centered and their beautiful and comfortable chair and booths. They make the best Caesar salad bar non. We also tried their spectacular chicken piccata, and spicy penne pasta. Just the perfect amount of sauce and spices. Clearly an amazing chef who can feel how much spice and sauce is needed in every dish. Loved it. Sorry, next time I’ll take more pictures of this great restaurant.
I enjoyed a Wednesday night with 1/2 off wine all day long at CDM Restaurant. I indulged in a beautifully presented seafood dish called Cioppino, paired with a bottle of DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. The rich, aromatic broth complemented the freshness of the mussels and the tender chunks of fish, while the striking langoustine perched atop the dish added a touch of dramatic elegance. It was a dining experience that seamlessly blended flavors and ambiance.
Absolutely recommend!!! Lots of interesting items on the menu and every dish was outstanding! Our server Grayson was fantastic! We also booked a reservation in their speakeasy for an after dinner drink! Will definitely be back!
The chef takes his work seriously. Presentation and flavor are top notch. This visit I ate the best Cioppino ever. The seafood included was amazing. The red sauce was beyond delicious. We also ate the pork belly appetizer. Again ridiculously delicious. Who is the chef? The ombiance was delightful with comfortable seating and outstanding professional service. Cocktails keep pace with the food.
We loved our meal here. Interesting flavors, colors and textures. Clearly someone cares here. Our server Kate(?) was fabulous and recommended all sorts of wonderful plates. Just excellent and delicious.
Delicious, creative meals! We got the meat and cheese board, the calamari, and grilled Ceasar salad to start with! We followed up with the "dirty pasta" and it satisfied my inner Italian! For drinks, my lovely server suggested a raspberry cocktail and it was absolutely delicious! My husband ordered a Paloma and that was great as well! We followed our meal up with a visit to their downstairs speakeasy for a night cap and the bartender was super friendly and fun! We ended the night with taking photos in their FREE photo booth! Overall, this was a fun, although small space, it was very worth our time and we will be back to try more delicious dishes!

Intimate restaurant with excellent food and drinks with superb service. We started the night with a Bell's martini and a Sam's old fashioned. Both very well balanced and fun. The ice cubes in the old fashion are very unique. I'm usually not a bread person but couldn't help but enjoy the perfectly fresh baked bread. A bit crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. A definite must. For our main course we ordered the ribeye steak sliced and shared the brussel sprouts and mushrooms with our friends. And ended our meal with the best dessert I've had in a while... strawberry tart. Perfectly sweetened by the berries and not added sugar. We will definitely be back to sample more of their menu. Cheers 🥂

CDM Restaurant has a lot to offer, but with a few caveats. The menu is quite limited, and as someone who enjoys starting with a spirited appetizer, I found the options a bit lacking. On the bright side, the drink menu more than makes up for it with an impressive variety of choices. The atmosphere is the standout feature—warm, cozy, and perfect for a date night. The service was also excellent; the staff were attentive and made us feel well taken care of. Prices are on the higher side, so it’s not the most budget-friendly spot, but it’s worth it for the overall experience. If you’re more into drinks and ambiance, this place will shine for you.
The food is usually very good but we would like more variety or at least a new special each day . The temperature in the restaurant is usually too cold . The servers are very nice and the atmosphere is very nice also .
Welcoming and prompt service! The food came out extremely quick. Sometimes, staff could be too eager and take plates away when we are still working on it. They're just being proactive, but it can be disruptive to the meal. It's not a bad thing, but dialing back would be appreciated. Overall, it was a great evening with well-made dishes. Ambiance was lovely. Wednesdays is wine night, which means 50% off wines by the glass and wine bottles! Go on Wednesdays! I will surely come back someday! Valet parking is $7 behind the restaurant.
I made reservations at this restaurant to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary since we were staying at the VEA. It was close and the only restaurant that caught my attention. And kind of nerve wrecking to just pick out a restaurant without having been there before. We were hoping to have a romantic experience and mainly delicious food. First impressions, the inside is very beautiful. Unfortunately they gave us a high top table and my husband was uncomfortable on the stool. That aside, the food is amazing. It didn’t disappoint. The drinks were great. My favorite was the octopus appetizer. My steak was cooked a well done even though I asked for medium. They corrected that mistake which we had to wait and meanwhile my husbands dish was getting cold. We did mention it was our anniversary since the beginning. I was hoping they would bring a little dessert that said Happy Anniversary to make up for the mishap. Nothing was offered. Yet the couple on the side got a birthday cupcake. Just saying.

Wonderful experience in Newport. The staff is attentive and the food is 4 out of 5 for me. There was some things I would change but that could just be me in what I like.
My husband and I save this restaurant for special occasions, but somehow we always end up with the same server… Ruby. And unfortunately, she always makes our experience be less than special. She checks on every other single table, but ours, which I can tell is on purpose. When we asked if we could put another round of drinks she said no because our drinks were not done, not sure what difference that makes, especially when the food and drinks were taking forever to come out. Food and drinks were good as always. I just wish the service matched the food quality.

Had a reservation for 8:30 on a Wednesday night but when we arrived they did not have a table for us. We waited patiently for 10, 20 minutes, still no table. We were finally seated at 9 pm and the manager thanked us for being so patient and understanding and said that due to the wait, they would comp an appetizer for us so we ordered an appetizer, wine and two entrees. We enjoyed the food but were disappointed that they did not honor what they promised - instead of comping the $38 appetizer they comped our wine which was only $18 due to it being 1/2 price wine Wednesday. They failed to honor our reservation time or their promise to us which is the reason for the low rating.
