We went in an hour before closing time on a Saturday, no wait. The food is excellent, nothing is overly salted, the clam chowder in sourdough bread bowl was wonderful. The sampler plate with fries was a great way to start, everything fresh, no old-oil smell to it, the fish and chips were plentiful for the price. Live music was prefect for the atmosphere, service was wonderful! Will definitely come back.
Large selection of menu items and always good. Had dinner there many times. This visit ordered the lemon-butter bacon wrapped shrimp and scallops. Wife ordered the same except Cajun seasoned.
A favorite local spot for fresh and delicious seafood. The service is excellent and having tried several menu items, I can say their food is excellent. Also, my go to for order out lazy evenings. Best fish and chips. One request though; make larger servings of the tartar cause for delivery orders. The 2 small containers are hardly enough for the 3 large pieces of fish. That's not even a legitimate complaint because I could have ordered extra, but when you forget to do that, you're left wanting and needing more sauce. Love this places.
What a gem! I wish we had a place like this back home in Arizona. The menu is huge and includes pictures—what you see is exactly what you get. We loved every bite, and the service was excellent.
First time for us… staff is very friendly. Lots of choices on the menu. Good pricing. Quick service. Food was absolutely deelish! Nice to have live entertainment to go along with our meal. Definitely looking to bring friends & family and to try other items on the menu!
Came here during happy hour. It was pretty empty. But totally worth the happy hour. We were able to get so many items for such a good deal!!! I’ll go in order from my favorite to least favorite apps lol. The fish and chips are to die for!!! Omg they were definitely the best thing on the menu. 🐟 (my favorite but not my friend’s favorite). 😍 The clam chowder was so so amazing too and my friend loved it!! 🥣 It is more creamy and thick, which I love!! Next, the poke nachos. Great overall. They give you a lot of fish!! And the chips were nice and crunchy and perfect for the poke. My friend thought the poke could use more of the sauce but I thought it was fine! Next the calamari. I was not impressed. It was very chewy and rubbery, more than usual. Not sure if it’s due to the shape - it looked more like mozzarella cheese than normal calamari. lol. It was ok. Would not order again though. Then, we got the blackened ahi tacos and those were a bust. 🌮 I do appreciate how large the fish chunks were. These were definitely huge tacos. However they were really really dry and just not great. And finally, my least favorite were the steamed clams BUT I don’t like clam in general!!! It came in a little tea pot which was cute and the server also gave us each a bowl of the clam water which was kinda gross and tasted so fishy Lolol. It also came with pieces of garlic bread which my friend said if you eat that with the clam, it tasted much better! Overall, would definitely come here for happy hour again! 👍👍👍
We love coming here. The food and service is always Top notch and the owner Derek friendly and inviting. I had the ahi salad. My wife had scallops and in a delicious sauce.
Popped into town after dropping an RV looking for some fresh fish and seafood. After a quick Google search, we decided on Simply Fish and we were not disappointed!! Atmosphere: We showed up not long after opening and it was pretty quiet but was filling up quickly by the time we left. Clean, nice little sit down place with an outdoor area. Service: Colby seated us and got our drinks and Linda was an absolute amazing waitress!! Great table talk, not just a "what do you need" waitress, she genuinely was interested about what brought us to the area. Now for the food: Ah-maz-ing! Linda was absolutely correct when she said the crab cake wasn't your typical crab cake! Loaded with crab meat it was delicious! We had the sampler with calamari, clam, shrimp and the crab cake - all were cooked perfectly. Our main entree we decided on the fish and chips and fish tacos. Fillets were very large and battered perfectly, not a big o thick layer, it was the perfect amount of breading. Portion sizes were huge! We spent under $60 and had leftovers - enough for 2 more meals!
I was sitting at the hotel and craving some blackened Salmon and thought why not take an hour road trip to Costa Mesa in Orange County CA. This came up as a 4.6 on Google and it looked like something I needed to try and get out on the road and go check it out and see if it would live up to the reviews. Will, the place is small and quaint and the music of Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Elvis is on and I knew it should be a good place to dine. I ordered crab cakes for an appetizer and they were dense and tasty. The Chipotle sauce was so good. I ordered the blackened Salmon with roasted corn and asparagus for my main course and it was cooked perfectly and the taste was so great with no fishy after taste. The salmon was flaky and moist with a hint of the char grill marks which enhanced the overall taste with the garlic butter sauce. The roasted corn was tasty as well and it had the same char taste and the sugars caramelized and gave the sweet taste at the end. The asparagus was crisp and tender and did not need anything because it was really good. This was worth the 2 hour round trip drive from my hotel in Ontario, CA. If you are in the area of Simply Fish, go try it, you will not regret it. Also the staff is so great and friendly!!
Very satisfied with our service, food and margaritas. The sampler platter was fantastic as well as the Mahi Mahi fish. Plenty of indoor seating and parking. Clean restrooms and handicap accessible. We will definitely go back.
Generous portions are served at affordable prices. Most items are under $18, with some Happy Hour specials, like ahi sashimi, rockin shrimp, or combo platters, priced even lower. It’s the type of place where you can have a filling, satisfying meal without breaking the bank. This seafood spot offers high-quality dishes with friendly service and a cozy atmosphere, making it a go-to for locals and newcomers craving delicious, affordable seafood.

Holy moly the portion size was more than expected and talk about great food, just wow! I was visiting from Arizona and googled great seafood in the area and so dang glad I picked this place. Prices were very great and service was perfect! Thank you for a great experience and visit 🤗
What an amazing place! The atmosphere is great. The music is live. Everyone’s friendly. The waiters are on it. The owner is there to greet and speak to you. You have to try this place! Definitely coming back.

Good selection of fish choices along with other food options. Loved the crab cakes and fried shrimp.
It was packed when we got here and it was looking like it was going to be a long wait to be seated, order, and get our food. But the girls on shift did GREAT. They were very upfront about being short staffed tonight and set expectations early apologizing right away. Bottom line, everything happened sooner than expected and the food (Chilean Sea Bass and Orange Roughy) was perfect!! Just right and great value for the price It was great food topped off with polite and courteous service especially given the circumstances!
I went here last night for the first time and was very, very impressed. Very first thing I noticed was there was a wait and a line which is always a good sign but then I heard live entertainment. They had very talented singers male and female singing classic songs from Frank Sinatra, Neil Diamond, to Fleetwood Mac. The atmosphere was very fun and festive, and even though I went alone I thoroughly enjoyed it. The menu is something else. I love how they have pictures of all the food. It made making my choice very difficult! I wound up having steamed clams as my appetizer which came in a teapot and were absolutely perfect. I drank the broth and savored the taste. I had the Chilean Sea Bass and ala carte Maine Lobster. Both were fantastic and cooked to perfection as well. If you're a seafood fanatic like I am, then I would highly recommend this place. The owner is a fisherman and also Japanese which says a lot too. My total bill was only $67 (w/o tip) and that will have me coming here time and time again.
My family and I had an amazing dining experience at Simply Fish! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was popping , and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding—everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. I especially loved the Ahi Tuna, and Lobster Bisque which was absolutely delicious! The portion sizes were generous, and the presentation was great. Whether you’re looking for a casual meal or a special night out, Simply Fish is a fantastic choice. I’ll definitely be back to try more from the menu!
They go to great lengths to make a customer happy from beginning to end. The girl walked to me to bring me the to go order. The owner takes the customer’s feedback to heart! The fish from the fish and chips dish tastes amazing! Everything is well packed. Came with the tartar, vinegar, and ketchup. They are diligent and is one of the those restaurant that I hope can lead by example.
I was more than pleasantly surprised. Spotless, lovely room with booths & tables. We were early - only a few people. 1st time, recommended by a friend. Outstanding fish & chips, seafood salad, a couple of beers. Charming welcoming servers. Great menu. Can’t wait to come back for more exotic choices. Menu beautifully presented options - great pictures. Don’t hesitate to come. Kid friendly. Quiet and so comfortable. At 7:00, very busy. 5 stars - support this terrific place!! Prices VERY friendly.
This place looks really nice on the inside, but the real treasure is the food. Best fish tacos in OC, and I have eaten a LOT of fish tacos around here. Fries are insanely good, grilled white fish was perfect. Everything is seasoned perfectly, and the fish is juicy and tender. Super fresh. Salsa is bomb too. 100% recommend to anyone craving high quality seafood.
I ordered online “Rockin’ Shrimp” with a side of Zucchini , Arcadian greens and fries. The shrimp and the fries was tasty, the arcadian greens was fresh. I loved the Zucchini! The food was delicious definitely will order more.
The food at Simply Fish is always delicious! Everything is super fresh with a vast selection on the menu. Service is always great!
Great fish place! Our service was quite slow the last time we went but that is not typical. I had an ahi tuna bowl that was outstanding. I would say it's big enough to share between 2 people. My mom had the fish and chips and said it was some of the best she's ever had. Simply Fish does stock an in house blend so dont go in looking for a coke or a sprite. I had a delicious margarita 🍹 on the rocks. The taste was spot on and it was in a good size glass. Lasted me through my entire meal. The only thing I didn't care for were the big screen TVs showing men fishing for Tuna along with all the gory details. I really dont need to see that while im eating.
It’s a great bargain for the fresh fish they serve. I won a gift card to simply fish which shows they donate to charities, which is very nice.
This place got all 5 star from because it was so Good the service the food the atmosphere 👌 well definitely be coming soon on our next vacation to bad we don't have these kind of restaurants in Arizona..thank Linda you were amazing
Great food! I love eating here. Service is excellent as well.
The food was tasty, but you must like seafood. Much of it is fish, scallops, shrimp, lobster, etc. Apparently there were non-seafood options, but I missed them! The live singers were fun Friday evening. I would turn down the volume just a tad, but the singers were fun and entertaining.
What an amazing night at Simply Fish. We recently celebrated our family's birthday party. Many thanks to Derek and his team for their awesome services and accommodations for our large group of 40+ people. As always, the food was delicious with generous portions. The staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. A huge thanks to Derek for his hard work and dedication to making our event a special memory. See you again soon, and thank you Simply Fish!
First time here and it is lovely!! Started with Ahi poke (recommended by our server because she has it every time she works 🙂), & it was delicious. Then had fish & chips, and a few different tacos. Everything was soo fresh & yummy!! Happy hour and lite lunch have great choices and GREAT prices! Will definitely be back
We were out of town and I wanted seafood. I found this place on google and it didn’t disappoint. We had a half dozen blue point oysters. Then my hubs had the fish and chips and I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp and scallops keto plate. We also ordered a pitcher of the strawberry margaritas. Everything was delicious!
What an unsuspecting spot - This is a first-rate seafood restaurant. Not only is the fish fresh, but they know how to cook it here. There are so many green flags here, my favorite is how the salmon is crispy on the outside and melt-in-you-mouth on the inside. Cudos to the fisherman and chef who began this restaurant!
This place is great. I strongly recommend this place for the quality and pricing. They have the best fish n chips I have ever had.
Another fabulous meal at Simply Fish. Loved talking to the people next to us, on both sides, who said this was their first time here, but they will definitely come back. Additional dining tables recently added. Best quality seafood, generous portions, reasonable prices. I had the blackened salmon. My husband loves the crab cakes. Come to Simply Seafood!
Great 1st impression of this newer restaurant. Their fish and chips is the best in recent memory - the fish was fried to a perfect crisp and was piping hot. But the fries were also amazeballs - crispy and perfectly seasoned. Then I dug into the coleslaw and also enjoyed it. I was told that they won some type of award for their fish and chips. Our server was attentive and regularly checked on us. My friend got fish tacos and I got a little bite of it. They did a good job with that dish as well. I came with no expectation and walked out wanting to return to try other dishes, or maybe just get the fish and chips again.
Greeted at the entrance by server Alex! He was so very kind and funny to speak with. We all agree he was engaging, informative, knew how to make sure we ordered well. The resturant serves alcohol, and we arrived in time for some happy hour deals. They also have daily specials. The appetizers were fresh, hot, and the portions great- Traditional calamari and breaded scallops. Alex recommended the garlic bread and it was inhaled.. So delicious. I had the swordfish with a garlic butter sauce 😋 so good. My husband had a hot seafood salad. I have never seen this, but it was amazing with mussels, calamari, squid, shrimp, fish, scallops and a 3oz lobster tail. My sister in law had the fish and chips, which she assured us was amazingly fresh and hot. We couldn't finish but happily took the rest of our meals home. The dessert menu looked Amazing and I will try it next visit.
What a great waiter Brandon! We had many special requests and he was unfazed. Derrick he is a keeper. The food is consistent and high quality. My compliments to the chef.
It was for sure worth way more than the value. Prices are normal for most of the items but gotta give them one thing is the service. Linda was our server, it was one of our best experience, otherwise I'm not even type of person does this comments. But anyways go there and find Linda, let her do her thing. Thanks again Linda
Simply Fish...is not just simply fish. The menu is extensive and has an array of offerings for most palettes! Surf & Turf, Shellfish, Meats, Signature Salads, Tacos, Sandwiches, Bowls, Keto. There's also a good selection of beers: Red Trolley Ale, Big Wave Golden Ale, Stella Artois, Estrella Jalisco, Space Dust IPA, Overcast Hazy IPA, Mission Brewing San Diego Blonde. Wine and Margaritas are also served along with a soda bar, tea, lemonade. The employees are all very helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is open, welcoming & fun. Music selection is spot on! Great mix of songs. Loud enough to enjoy the songs. Low enough so you can still enjoy table conversations. Now for the yummy stuff! Today is the Grand Opening! I had to start off with Medium Rare Ribeye with Asparagus and white rice. I also had the Fettuccine Alfredo with Shrimp. Both super delicious! The Ribeye was cooked to my liking. It was well seasoned. The Asparagus was not too soft or too hard and had a good grilled taste to it. The white rice was also cooked perfectly. They were great compliments to my Ribeye. Of course, there are other sides to choose from. Now for the Fettuccine Alfredo with Shrimp. It had the right amount of creamy Alfredo sauce. Anyone who knows me, knows I am all about the sauce and this Alfedo sauce made me smile and hum with content every time it hit my mouth. Creamy, cheesy, yummy. And the shrimp. Oh, my goodness, the shrimp! 10 plump butterflied shrimp! Grilled and full of flavor. All I can say is that both dishes made my taste buds dance & my tummy happy! I highly recommend coming out to enjoy a meal here. I know once you do, you will keep coming back! The best compliment is a recommendation to all you know. So come on out!
First timer to Simply Fish and quite surprising the extensive menu beyond simply fish. Service was "spot on" for lunch. I suggest asking for the lunch menu, since the main menu has dinner portions. We had the fish tacos and a shrimp po boy each with two sides. It was well-prepared, assembled and portions suffiently filling. Simply Fish is on my list to return!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5) Simply Fish is a seafood lover's dream come true! The atmosphere is bright and inviting, perfect for a casual meal. I started with the shrimp cocktail, which was fresh and flavorful. For the main course, the grilled sea bass was simply divine—crispy on the outside and tender within, topped with a delicious lemon butter sauce. The fish & chips were also a highlight, featuring a light, crispy batter. To top it off, the sea salt caramel tart was a delightful end to our meal. The service was friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. If you're looking for fresh, quality seafood in a relaxed setting, Simply Fish is a must-visit! OBIE schoolsfirst CU
This place is amazing!! We found this restaurant by googling "seafood restaurant in Costa Mesa" and we are so happy we did. The atmosphere is welcoming, lots of families and regulars. A very homey yet elegant atmosphere. Our server, Linda, was very friendly and made some great suggestions. The menu is huge! I had the scallops in garlic butter with cajun spices (Linda's recommendation) and they were sweet, cooked perfectly and melt in your mouth. My husband had the grilled ahi and the piece was thick and meaty. Needless to say, we will be back! The prices are so reasonable and the portions are very generous. There was live music (Double Trouble) which was a nice surprise and not too loud, just a nice addition. Try this place, you will not be he disappointed!
I always get the Salmon-garlic butter seasoning-plate with brown rice and zucchini. It is delicious!
Absolutely delicious food! Impressive menu options that keep bringing you back, and the fish and chips are the best I’ve ever had. Definitely worth checking them out! Don’t pay attention to the lower scored reviews… for one thing, they just opened and every restaurant goes through some growing pains of training chefs, etc… but more importantly, it’s not their fault the *brainiac* ordered FROM A DIFFERENTLY NAMED RESTAURANT and got upset Simply Fish wouldn’t immediately comp her meal…own up to your own mistake and drive to the other location (it’s in the same city after all)! Trashing a new business because of your error isn’t a reflection of the business’ food or operations. That being said, I’d 100% recommend Simply Fish.
Nestled in a charming corner, the restaurant Simply Fish boasts an extensive seafood menu, complemented by an array of succulent meat dishes. Diners rave about the exquisite flavors, with Fish and Chips earning accolades as the standout choice. During my recent visit with my university partners, we eagerly perused the thoughtfully crafted menu. The enticing description of Mahi-Mahi caught our attention, and we ultimately decided to make it our main course. This decision proved to be remarkable—the fish was perfectly cooked, boasting a delightful balance of seasoning and texture that left us all thoroughly impressed. The ambiance of the restaurant is inviting and cozy, creating a warm atmosphere perfect for conversation and laughter. The friendly service further elevated our experience, making us feel right at home. So impressed were my partners that they decided to reserve this gem for their upcoming anniversary celebration, eager to share such a delightful experience with faculties, and their family.
The food here is amazing 👏🏻 😋 😍. Since they were busy, I can't say much about the service. When they did get around to taking our order we were very pleased. I will be back.
Our server Linda was phenomenal! She was attentive but not " hovering" - just the right amount of attention. The food was excellent! Everything tasted fresh and was served beautifully.
We were in town visiting friends and family and were told to check out Simply Fish. We absolutely LOVED it so much we ate there twice within the week we were there. The food is to die for. Service is friendly and inviting. The only thing I will say is while we absolutely love music and entertainment the location is small so the live music does make it difficult to visit with others during the meal. If the place was a bit bigger or maybe the music moved to the back and turned down a bit…otherwise we highly recommend this place and will go back when we visit again ❤️
I've driven by this place for quite a while and finally decided to try it. There are few quality informal seafood restaurants that are reasonably priced. Santa Monica Seafood was a "go-to", but they recently closed and I had thought their prices were a bit high. Boy, was I happily surprised by Simply Fish. Suffice it to say that We've eaten there twice in the last three days! Their menu is large and offers fresh fish and shellfish cooked in a variety of ways. Whether you prefer battered and fried, grilled, or raw (for some choices), they offer it. I'm somewhat of a Poke snob, being of Japanese descent and having enjoyed it all over the Hawaiian Islands where it originated and I've had some that were either not fresh, or so heavily sauced that I couldn't eat it. Simply Fish has the best Poke I've ever had and that says a lot! The tuna is a fresh as you will find anywhere, the marinade is light and delicate so as not to overwhelm the taste and texture of the fish and for their price, you get a generous serving. I could go on, but the other dishes I had there are equally good and I can't wait to try other selections. I'm telling all my friends and am also inviting them to join us for our next outing there. If you like seafood (and they also have skirt steak which you can't find everywhere), I'm sure you'll like it.
Delightful food, it was so fresh and delicious. Our server Linda was amazing, we will surely be back!
Usually order pickup and consistently receive excellent efficient hospitable customer service combined with fresh tasty reasonably priced seafood. Grandkids enjoy calamari strips and adult favorites include grilled and breaded fish and shrimp; brussel sprouts; roasted corn; french fries; and black beans.
Loved dining there, nice atmosphere. Take out very fast, 15 mins. Excellent food!
I had the shrimp bowl with 1/2 rice half greens fabulous. The sweet potatoes fries fantastic and I even had steamed veggies with Cajun seasoning. They were delicious. Everything fabulous.
Great variety of quick-fix seafood plates. Very helpful and courteous staff! Grilled Branzino was excellent. Shrimp skewers were great. Hot fries were awesome. Clam chouder was tasty but watered down. Otherwise, everything was great.
If you loved Fishbonz in Costa Mesa, get ready for Simply Fish. It’s Fishbonz on another level. I was bummed when they closed their 17th Ave location, until yesterday when I stopped into their new full service restaurant! If you love seafood, this is a must!!! Prices are so reasonable, it’s insane…and super appreciated in today’s economy! Better yet, the food is phenomenal, and the menu is extensive, so come hungry. I’m picky when it comes to the preparation of my seafood, and I usually pay anywhere from $50- $150 per person. This is not the case at Simply Fish. Everything is priced well, huge portions and simply delicious! We started with a bottle of KC Pino Grigio ($35, plus it was wine Wednesday, so 30% off!), we then ordered 1lb of Steamed Clams… AMAZING! (Next time we I’ll get the full 2lbs!!!). For our entrees we did the shrimp skewer plate and some filet mignon tacos and a couple fish tacos (bill was a total of only $67!). Everything was cooked to perfection. The owner truly cares about quality. I can’t say enough… other than I have missed this food for the year they closed to relocate and revamp, well done. Do yourself a favor and go grab some of the tastiest seafood Orange County has to offer. You will not leave disappointed. Atmosphere was great, servers were super attentive, owner was in house, and the food was on-point!
We've going here for over 2 years and tried most of the items on the menu. This time we'd ordered 3 pieces fish & chips and New York strip with Main lobster. The fish & chip always on point, but the Main lobster wasn't fresh.
I had shrimp tacos with beans and rice for my sides, and an added side of their Brussel sprouts (which were tangy and delicious because they were roasted with balsamic vinegar and had sliced almonds). And also had a bowl of clam chowder.........everything was excellent! My waiter was nice and attentive. I can't wait to visit again.
It really is the best fish and chips! I also enjoyed their Brussels sprouts as well! So crispy and flavorful!
Normally I order Simply Fish from Postmates about twice a month since it’s opened but today decided to pick up my order and check out the inside of this newer establishment. This place is very clean and the staff was very welcoming. The interior has a lots of blue decor. Even the cashier had blue hair and was nice. Today I ordered their fish and chips for my mother in law and I ordered their blackened salmi salad. Such a great salad with lime vinaigrette. Salad was a 10/10.
Super fresh fish, every dish is amazing. Very reasonable prices, much better than Newport Beach. Derek the owner is there most nights and stands by their dishes. All fresh caught and fresh! Scott and Nicole are awesome servers - we feel like family not guests. Just GO! We’ll probably be there with you!
My family will drive from Rancho Cucamonga, to have lunch or dinner, amazing food. Excellent food, service and consistent with all their food, the portions are excellent always fresh fish. Thank you Joseph & family.
I can honestly recommend the fish and chips entree as the most delicious I have ever enjoyed! The staff at Simply Fish is friendly, efficient, and skillful at all times…many thanks! I will return soon!
I am a old man who has been eating my favorite food, fish and chips for over 60 years. I tried simply fish 9/18/25 for the first time and I was over the moon. The fish and chips I ordered was outstanding, big three piece fish with massive fries along with ketchup and tartar sauce and coleslaw. Not only was the food great but the quantity was beyond belief. I highly recommend, believe me, this is the best fish and chips ever. I used to think H salt Esquire was the best but now that they're practically out of business this simply fish restaurant in Costa Mesa is the bomb
I am not a fish person and had fecline invitations for lunch many times. I gave in and was pleasantly surprised at the great atmosphere and service. The chicken i had was perfect. I will definitely go back!
Calamari stripes were great along with the fried clams were offered by Derek on the house which was super nice. Scott and Vanessa helped us out and were great. We enjoyed our food. I had the Blackened Cajun Salmon with brown rice, French fries, and Brussels sprouts. Finished the entire plate super good. My wife had the cioppino and enjoyed very much.
We ordered the battered fish tacos and grilled shrimp tacos. Everything was delicious. The wait staff is super friendly and attentive. It was packed in there and almost closing time when we went, but to see all the staff work together and get everyone taken care of quickly and efficiently was cool to watch and experience. The black beans are DELICIOUS! The Zucchini was grilled to perfection. If you haven't tried the grilled corn, do it... you won't regret it! The fries were PERFECT... the crunchiness was uniform on all of them, not a soggy one on the plate!
Yum yum yum! Perfect fit for the costa mesa community! I was craving seafood but had zero desire to gussy up to head down to Newport or south coast for it. Simply fish is casual, fit for a quick date night or taking the family out. Food is in my opinion fresher and made with the seafood as the highlight of the dish instead of sauces masking the flavors. In other words Simply Seafood. The business is own by a independent small family which just adds to my love of the place. We must continue supporting small businesses! We were there Sunday night we started with the brussel sprouts and let me tell you its a game changer. I had the clams and the cl chowder my husband the white fish plate. We were so impressed we came back Tues night for taco Tuesday. We were very happy we did. For $10 we got 2 tacos fries and a soda. I recommend the shrimp, steak and the grilled white fish. I had to try the lobster bisque and it was delish but for my pallet (lighter) I prefered the clam chowder. One of the best chowders ive had in a long time. Service was impeccable Kim made us feel like family.
I originally went to this wonderful restaurant with our plant club for their holiday luncheon. I was very impressed by the quality of the food, the live music, the ease of splitting our tabs and Derek, the owner’s attentiveness to our group. I’m thrilled our club will again have our holiday luncheon at this great local restaurant. The food is excellent and fresh. This week I took my husband to the restaurant and we enjoyed the Tuesday special. It’s a great local restaurant!
The wine selection was nice. Food was great. The owner and servers were on point. They never missed a beat for whatever we wanted. The owner sat with us to welcome us and offered great recommendations and then gave us a complimentary desert. Music was nostalgic with Standard music tunes and amazing singing!! Reservations are a must. It was very busy, but they got our table right on time and food didn’t take long to serve at all. We are adding this place to our favorites list.
Holy moly the portion size was more than expected and talk about great food, just wow! I was visiting from Arizona and googled great seafood in the area and so dang glad I picked this place. Prices were very great and service was perfect! Thank you for a great experience and visit 🤗
Food was flavorful and cooked perfectly, which is difficult to do with shellfish, especially when served in a combo dish. Price was also a notch above the competition, very affordably priced. Another pleasant surprise was that the servers were friendly and happy, yet another rarity these days. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable outing.
Our server had another big party at the same time as our party of 7 so we had to wait a long time for our order to be taken after we received our drinks. But we still really love your food & atmosphere. We also ordered take-out recently & everything including service was excellent.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Great find in Costa Mesa! The atmosphere here is super modern and inviting, with a really cool exterior and nice outdoor seating. I loved the neon 'Get Your Fish On!' sign in the window—definitely sets the fun vibe. Most importantly, the food was fantastic. The fish & chips tasted incredibly fresh and light—not oily at all, just pure, clean flavor. It’s hard to find seafood that tastes this pristine. The service was also a highlight. The team was very welcoming and informative from the moment I walked in. I think I even met the manager (or owner); he was genuinely excited about the location and took the time to chat with me about some local events. The staff even asked how I found the place—shoutout to Google Maps!—and the whole interaction just gave me a really great feeling. If you are in the OC area (near Westminster or Newport) and craving fresh seafood like lobster or king crab, this is a solid spot to check out."
Did a takeout order on Saturday night. Online was easy with Apple Pay. Could pick time. There were parking spots in front for pick up and email notice when order was ready. Packing was great. My entire order was correct. Food—fish and chips—fish batter was light and crispy and fish was very tender and tasty! I really enjoyed it. I love that it came with malted vinegar—I love British style and this was as good as I remember having it in Britain! Also ordered baked potatoes and Brussels and Sole for tomorrow. All of it was very good. I’d definitely recommend. (Inside looked nice—casual comfy booths)

Great variety of quick-fix seafood plates. Very helpful and courteous staff! Grilled Branzino was excellent. Shrimp skewers were great. Hot fries were awesome. Clam chouder was tasty but watered down. Otherwise, everything was great.
This was the first time my family and I dined here. Upon arrive it was easy to find parking. It's an intimate place. I loved the blue oceanic atmosphere. With different fish mou ted on the walls. Along with the fishing poles and blue velvet curtains. There was good music playing as well. Oldies but goodies Playlist. The staff was well knowledgeable. But not as attentive with refilling drinks and check ins. However, the food was delicious. Very flavorful and made to order. The strawberry margarita was tasty and there are pictures of dishes that are served lining a wall.the menus had pictures of all of their dishes. Which was very helpful to choose from such a wide variety. Overall this is a place that I will be a regular to. I definitely recommend.
We went to Simply Fish with friends for dinner on a Sunday evening. This was our third visit to Simply Fish. Each visit, the music was playing, but, in my opinion, it was too loud during dining time. It is my opinion, again, that the music does NOT have to be that loud since the area space of the restaurant is not that big (as stated by other reviewers). We had to literally shout or move close next to the person you were talking to. My understanding is that music is played over the weekend. The overall interior design of the restaurant was nice. Host and server were very efficient and amicable. I had the Sunday special plate, the seafood & entrana platter. It was a huge dish! Lots of seafood with beef atop a bed of rice. I could not eat it all in this one sitting, so I took it home. Very tasty dish! My girlfriend had the grilled swordfish with the brussel sprouts. Our friends shared the Sunday special plate, the seafood & entrana platter.
Simply Fish is a seafood restaurant located in Costa Mesa that offers a variety of fresh seafood dishes. Their Happy Hour is a great time to visit, as they offer a number of specials on their menu. I recently had the opportunity to try Simply Fish's Happy Hour, and I was overall impressed with the quality of the food. The fish was fresh and cooked perfectly, and the portions were generous. However, I was a bit disappointed with the clam chowder. It was a bit too sour for my taste.

Not a bad spot. Got a 8 ounce lobster tail, two sides and asparagus for only $33. Lobster was a lil over done but everything was really good.

I tried Simply Fish for the 1st time and ordered the fish and chips. The fish was good, not great. I inquired the type of fish and the waiter indicated they use a freshwater white fish, wasn't specific. Service was good. They provide full-service, not fast casual.
Got to try this place due to octopus and lobster cravings. Our server asked if we wanted to see the lobster cart and we just said yes cause why not. Got one of their Brazilian lobster tails. We also had their grilled octopus, crab cakes, Mexican corn, and scallop appetizer. Food in general was good but what we didn't like were the octopus and lobster tail were overcooked. The octopus was probably not poached long enough so it was very chewy. The lobster was also very rubbery when it was served to us which was a bummer because the tail was huge! Seasoning was very good though and everything tastes fresh. Service was awesome!
So tasty! I had some kind of fish (sorry, can't remember which kind, it was hard to decide!) that was cooked to absolute perfection. The sides were fantastic too. My daughter devoured a whole plate of crab legs: the one taste I got was also delicious. There was a fun little lounge music act that night as well!
Came here first time,we got crab cake, warm seafood salad, fish and chips, crab cake was really good 👍 but warm seafood salad was alright, first of all scallops size not like u saw on the pictures of the menu, super tiny, second of all squids and shrimps were overcooked, they were like rubbery but salmon was undercooked,it was clear the inside, third, they put too much sesame dressing on my salad which completely made my salad soaked in dressing so I suggest them should put dressing on the side rather than pouring in the salad like that, fish and chips was good 👍, overall food was good except my warm seafood salad
Came here for the first time, to grab dinner to takeaway. The atmosphere reminded me of an old style cafe, tables brimming with food, customers busy talking and eating, the decor giving 70's vibes. I wish I could say the food delighted me as much as the homey atmosphere. I thought the fish was not very good, considering it is a seafood restaurant; it was somewhat overcooked and without much visual appeal. The cole slaw was old, soggy, not flavorful. The fries were dry inside and not very generously portioned.
It's so weird how the filet mignon skewer tasted waaaay better than the tiny Itty bitty lobster tail. See how small it is next to my fork? The filet mignon I'd totally recommend, the 4oz lobster tail, not so much. The fish n chip was normal. The restaurant itself, clean, and fresh looking.
The service people were friendly but I was disappointed in the quality of the fish. I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was mushy almost like it had been roughly ground and molded into shape. The coating held it together but the fish was definitely not a usual filet. We asked the server what kind of fish it was but he said they were not permitted to tell which seemed odd. It tasted like a combination of a few types of fish pressed together. Portions were adequate but mushy taste was not pleasant or expected.
We came here on a Sunday evening for an early dinner date. We were dressed casually in jeans and T-shirts and were seated right away with no wait. Our waitress, an older woman with a noticeably raspy voice, started off with a dismissive and rude attitude. When I asked about the seafood boil and tacos, she seemed uninterested and acted as if answering basic menu questions was an inconvenience. Her tone and facial expressions made it clear she wasn’t engaged or interested in serving us. However, when my partner asked about the Brazilian lobster, her demeanor changed completely. She suddenly became friendly and attentive. We were told the Brazilian lobster wasn’t available and that only the Maine lobster was offered at $99, which my partner ordered. After that, the service shifted dramatically. She became overly attentive — almost hovering — which felt inconsistent and insincere compared to how we were initially treated. The drastic change in attitude made us uncomfortable. It felt like we were being judged at first — possibly because of our the way we were dressed — and then treated differently once a higher-priced item was ordered. That inconsistency left a bad impression and negatively affected our overall experience.
Strange. By the looks of it from the exterior I thought it was more of a fast food restaurant (order at the counter and seat yourself) than a full service restaurant. Also, the name Simply Fish you'd figure the just serve various fish items, but nope. They have steaks, seafood, fish, etc. Weird. The restaurant itself is small. I ordered the fish and chips and asked the server what kind of fish is it and he didn't know or bothered to find out. It definitely wasn't Cod, which is disappointing. The batter was greasy while the filet was thin resulting in more batter to fish ratio. My wife has the fish tacos and it was the same fish with to much greasy batter for the amount of fish. The clam chowder was thick and dehydrated. Flavor was just ok. I guess it was worth a try. The search for good fish and chips continue...
