Willi's wine bar Cotati Reviews
Willi’s remains one of the most enjoyable places in Sonoma County to order a table full of small plates and share everything. Nearly every dish we tried was excellent. The tuna tartare was fresh and balanced, the calamari perfectly crisp, and the lamb with couscous and almonds was the star of the meal — rich, tender, and honestly world-class. If it’s on the menu, order it. The bread pudding was equally memorable and a great way to end the meal. Service was friendly, attentive, and professional throughout. The only disappointment was the wine. For a place with “Wine Bar” in the name, the list and pricing were surprisingly underwhelming. We opened a $75 Russian River Valley Albariño that simply didn’t drink anywhere near that price point, and Alicia was also unimpressed with the recommended Sauvignon Blanc. Living in the middle of Sonoma wine country probably raises our expectations a bit, but the wine list felt like a missed opportunity given how strong the kitchen is. Fortunately corkage is available ($35 for the first two bottles), which is probably the smartest move here. The kitchen is doing excellent work and deserves better wine than what’s currently on the list. Come for the food — it’s terrific — and consider bringing your own bottle.
We are visiting from Palm Springs and picked Willi's on a whim, looking for a spot to have a snack and a glass of wine before dinner. This place is a wonderful gem. The staff we are super friendly, great wine and cocktails. The menu had a nice selection of small plates to share. If we lived in this neighborhood it would definitely be our go to spot. Really nice!. Well be back for dinner!
This is nothing like the Willi’s Wine Bar in Paris. It’s better! And it’s a heckuva lot closer. I think this was my first Stark’s restaurant, and it is still my favorite, and one of my favorites in Sonoma County. Everything I’ve tried is delicious, including their wines and cocktails. These pix are from the Happy Hour menu (except for the spinach salad, which is always a good way to add some veggies to the mix). Goat Cheese Fritters, Nashville Hot Fries, Crispy Boneless Chicken Wings with Black Garlic Sauce, and Warm Spinach Salad
In planning a thank-you lunch for a dear colleague, I chose Willi's for its convenient location, experience with Stark's consistency, and outdoor patio seating on a nice day. Those turned out to just be bonuses. We ordered several dishes to share including the Chilled Oysters, Sea Bass Crudo, Arugula & Endive Salad, Butternut Squash Mac & Cheese, and Filet Mignon Sliders. We also ordered a few adult beverages (dry martini, Pulp Fiction, One In A Melon, and a glass of Aperture Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc). EVERYTHING was so, so good. Food was delivered quickly and we just happened to curate an amazing combination of flavors. Special thanks to Emilio for his wonderful service and making it such a wonderful afternoon! We'll be back soon :)
My 2nd time here and everything was incredible! I drove from Santa Cruz for their calamari alone, the marmalade sauce is spot on ! We enjoyed it so much along with oysters rockefeller, bacon wrapped scallop BLTs, the pork belly potstickers (the sauce was superb), bbq duck with polenta (didn’t care for the cheddar in polenta yet still tasty), filet mignon sliders-SPECTACULAR! Then the finale with crème brûlée-the perfect balance of sweet and richness ..multiple Chefs Kisses! As others have said, the wine selection is good. Looking forward to the next visit!
Yeah, so. We chose Willi's as a last-minute option in the area we were for the day, and WHOA. I gotta say, this restaurant is smashing the small plates game. The BBQ pulled duck polenta blew out freaking minds in particular, as did the sea bass crudo and the flourless chocolate cake. Cocktail and wine flight options are a great time too. Muy delicioso.
While in Sonoma for a few nights we stopped in here for cocktails before having dinner elsewhere on a weeknight. The bar here was rather busy when we arrived, but we still got a couple of seats at the bar. Service was excellent at the bar, the bartender was very helpful and knowledgeable. They have a very nice wine list, flights, and a great cocktail program. The food we saw coming out looked great, but as I mentioned, we only went for drinks. Definitely would return!
This was my wife, and my first trip to Willi’s. We were there for lunch and shared the pork ribs, arugula salad and the french fries—which were out of this world! For dessert we had the flourless chocolate cake with peanut butter mousse and chocolate sauce. Everything was wonderful and beyond our expectations. Laid-back and relaxed dining out on the patio and our waiter was totally low pressure but attentive.
First time, dined for lunch, enjoyed all items ordered, small plates but enough for 2 people to share. Goat Cheese Fritters with Smoked Paprika & Lavender Honey Warm Spinach Salad with Goat Cheese, Dates, Cracked Almonds, Pancetta Vinaigrette Butternut Squash Soup with Grilled Cheese Sandwiches with Goat Cheese & Red Onion Marmelade Moroccan Style Lamb Chops with Preserved Lemon Couscous, Mint Chutney, Toasted Almonds & Arugula Filet Mignon Sliders with Creamed Spinach, Whole Grain Mustard Bearnaise
Definitely 5 stars!!!! Part of the Stark's steak and seafood affiliate. Every single restaurant we have been to in affiliation is exceptional... Our order was the filet sliders, grilled asparagus, arugula & endive salad, and the warm skillet bread 😋😋😋😋 I forgot to take pictures before we started eating 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ but here they are
Wow. What a wonderful experience this evening at Willi’s. I’d originally had our reservation scheduled for the other Willi’s in Healdsberg but based on the recommendation of someone local, we decided to switch. I’m so glad we did. My family and I are staying in Healdsberg for the week but happily drove down to Santa Rosa for dinner for the evening. I kept telling my parents how great a place like this would do in our shore town in New Jersey. I absolutely loved it!!! All the food was fantastic, as was the service and the ambiance. Loved sitting outside and enjoying the gorgeous evening. All 3 of the different wine flights my family tried were fantastic. The only one thing they could have improved on was cooking the lamb to medium or medium rare. It was pretty well done, but still edible and flavorful. We just don’t like our lamb cooked that much through. Would happily go back and recommend to anyone!
great food. goat cheese balls in honey were amazing!! sweet chili wings were good. drinks for happy hour were good and well priced. great service. goat cheese balls. damn!!
we really enjoyed the food. We’ve been in a lot of great restaurants with a lot of great service in the last few days. Everybody was nice, but it wasn’t great. we really loved all the small plates. But to give good service, a little bit more initiative and friendliness would go a long way.
We ate here on a Thursday night, and they were rather busy. Service was very good. The young lady helping us was great with her suggestions and descriptions of the menu. It didn't take too long to be served. My husband really enjoyed his halibut. His Moroccan lamb chop was good--a single chop but large sized. He is used to people often overcooking it so he ordered it on the rare side and it came out exactly that (...so order it as you like it and it will probably be well prepared). I enjoyed my Mu Shu Bacon but it was a bit over salted. The cheese plate was good...ample sized slices of three cheeses with crackers and condiments. Overall, a good experience.
Service and atmosphere were very nice. Unfortunately, the pork belly pot stickers were not pork belly. It was pulled pork, which was just not that good. if you advertise pork belly, you should use pork belly. that was a huge turn off. The beet salad, cheese plate and service were good. Because they misrepresented the pork belly pot stickers, we will probably not go there again.
We were really looking forward to a meal here and were really disappointed. Service was fine. Ambience was fine. The food was mostly not great. The spicy shrimp were really good. The Brussels sprouts didn’t work at all. They were soggy and there were too many disjointed flavors. The carrots were too sweet. The lamb was fine but paired with a cold couscous was strange separately they were fine. We love other Stark restaurants and even ate lunch at Augie’s which was really good.
Unfortunately I can't review the food or wine as I didn't get either. I was supposed to meet a friend for happy hour but she canceled, so I decided to go by myself. I walked in around 4:55, so still happy hour. I said I would gladly sit at the bar. Someone was finishing so I waited for her seat and went to use the restroom. I came back and sat down. The bartender immediately informed me that it was no longer happy hour. It was 5:01. I explained that I had arrived before 5:00 but he said the kitchen is very strict about happy hour food. He said he could give me wine, I assume from the happy hour wine list. Then he walked away. Didn't give me a hour wine list or regular menu. Just walked away. And so did I. As I was leaving he said, "Have a nice evening, Miss" even though I'm clearly over 60.
