We took a day trip to Houston. That evening we were looking for a place to eat BBQ, we searched Google and finally decided on Straight Off the Road BBQ. After driving there we pulled up and only 2 cars immediately we thought oh no. But we decided we are here we will give it a chance. The wait staff was awesome, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was wonderful. After being there a little while more people started coming in. I would just like to say this will be a stop we make when we come this way.

Now 10.99 for a pulled pork basket with fries and a drink. To be fair you get a lot of meat and a good amount of fries, but for two people your coming close to $30. If you dine in then $30 for sure counting tip. But as for food....very good!

Excellent barbecue! I am very partial to their chicken fried steak. They cook it to perfection and are very generous with their portions. I think they have one of the best chicken fried steaks. It is so tender you can cut it with a fork. The hamburgers are very good too! Juicy and big, they fill a hungry teenager. The price is right too. Definitely will return and recommend it to all my friends.

Pulled Pork loaded potato was amazing. Ate it for the first with my friend went back two weeks later alone for another one. The meat was flavorful and tender even without the added bbq sauce. The potato was so soft and delicious.

Home-cooked southern comfort food . Huge portions with amazing flavor! When the younger girls are working up front they have the air of teen lol but the rest of the people are amazing! I didn't have the BBQ. They had CFS at a reasonable price so being a natural born Texan I really had no choice but to order it. Let me tell you. The CFS was good but this establishment deserves 5 🌟 just for those mashed taters alone! Next time I'm getting a triple order of those crushed spuds and making a spectacle of myself so bring a camera and take pictures! Interior had every kitschy road sign, BBQ related, stamped in metal quote/saying imaginable in a corrugated sheet metal style building. Plenty of room inside and good home cooking style food with a walk up counter to order at, get a number and seat yourself till they bring you the goods. I'm not just gonna return, even though it's really far from my house I'm gonna have to check out some more of that menu which was extensive beyond just the BBQ offerings! Taters 🤤😋

Best meal in a while and I absolutely recommend it and will be back even though it is out of the way, and literally off the road. Lol. We had so much food we brought home both meals and of course I had to try the bannana pudding . Do yourself a favor and go to Crosby and give it try.

I had the brisket plate with pinto beans and coleslaw. The brisket had a nice smoke ring and was moist and delicious. I really liked the beans, but my companion thought they were too spicy. The coleslaw was creamy and fresh. The workers were friendly and efficient, with several stops at our table to see if we needed anything. It was well worth the trip to find this hidden gem!

Ate here for the first time today and all I can say is wow! I’ve tried every place in Baytown and Mont belvieu. I will only go here from now on. Yes it’s expensive, but they give you way more food than you can eat. And as far as flavor goes and everything being tender and juicy! 10 out of 10! I get frustrated because I expect smoked meat to taste as good as mine or at least close to it! They do! We won’t go anywhere else from now on. Worth the 25 minutes to get there!

I have only been here once before and it was about a year ago. The food then, was delicious. I am currently sitting in the restaurant while my order is being prepared. They were both extremely welcoming, professional, helpful, friendly, and accommodating. The restaurant was very clean, but empty, although I happened to come in before dinner time, so I’m sure that’s why it was empty. Based on the service alone, I will definitely be back. For those who are giving horrible reviews based off one bad experience, shame on you! Sometimes people and places just have a bad day, no matter how hard they try not to. Arrived a few mins before closing, which is something we don't usually do, so we were going to take our food to go but the lady behind the counter was so sweet and had no problem letting us sit down to eat. That spoke volumes to me. The food came out pretty quick. Was hot, fresh and delicious. I recommend the stuffed baked potato. There's nothing like a small hometown business that is successful. 👍👍 I'll be back for sure.

I ordered 2 meat plate (Ribs and Moist Brisket) with a side of mashed potatoes and white gravy and green beans. The meat portions are very generous!! The brisket was fall apart tender and very savory! The BBQ sauce at the table was delicious as well. The ribs were a dry rub but were very tender. They needed a little more seasoning but they had a lot of great smoke flavor. The mashed potatoes were perfectly seasoned and the gravy was great. The green beans were just ok. Great Texas smokehouse atmosphere with plenty of room to sit comfortably. Would come back! Sad I never came here when I lived in Crosby years back!

We happen to find this place little jewel of a restaurant driving one day. We are from KY. We have tried many BBQ places before and many throughout Texas in our last 10 years here. Hands down one of the BEST BBQ places we have ever ate. The pulled pork is amazing. We never get dessert but trust me just order the banana pudding…the best!!! Love this place!! Straight Off the Road has great BBQ, it's a walk-up style restaurant so the food comes to you pretty quick. We went during off-hours on the weekend so the ambiance was very chill and fairly quiet. I got the chicken fried steak, with fried okra and potato salad. My SO, got the brisket plate. The chicken fried steak is possibly the best I've had in the greater Houston area, and the potatoes were unique in a good way, they had a subtle sweetness we didn't expect like they used honey mustard instead of regular. The brisket was juicy, tender, and full of flavor.

Love the barbecue choices here...yummy! I have yet to be disappointed. And, if you go (and I think you should), you have to try their mac and cheese. It is without a doubt one of the best I've ever tried. It tastes homemade and is creamy and very cheesy. You won't regret it. Prices are very reasonable and the food is worth every penny. Best BBQ place is Crosby! A must-try for any BBQ lover. I've tried a variety of things on their menu and have never been disappointed. The portion sizes are generous, which is great for the price. The staff is super friendly and the restaurant is easy to find. My personal favorites are the grilled chicken salad and the new Wrangler Burger - both are delicious. We had the chicken fried chicken with cream gravy...it was perfectly tender, and the batter was crunchy...the gravy was spot on too...all the sides were good too. This place is a Gem, I travel in to Crosby every 2 or 3 months and every time I travel there I half to make a stop in and order their 24oz. Rib Eye Steak as it is always cooked to the way I order it and the choice of sides are amazing. I haven’t ventured away from the Rib Eye but everything else I see looks amazing too I sometimes take a Banana Pudding with me and that Knocks it out of the park too. Friendly Staff, Clean, Nice Country Atmosphere and Amazing Food. BYOB they will also provide a ICE Bucket for you too.

Great food, very delicious. We had baked potatoe chopped brisket, hamburger and corn. All was very delicious. The hamburger was a great size, the rest was a bit big. We were able to take it home with us. The atmosphere is very Texas. There are some stuffed deer heads as decorations and a huge USA flag. Great BBQ, can definitely recommend it.

Love this local establishment! My favorite meats are the smoked turkey and grilled chicken. Great grilled chicken salad with homemade ranch dressing! Burgers are good! All sides are homemade. Best banana pudding here as well.

Came upon this place after realizing the Crawfish place we wanted to try didn't open till noon. We were hungry. Not much can be said about the decor. Seems to be more local than anything that would draw a tourist. Friendly staff. Food was good. I had the chicken fried steak, and the bf had a 3 meat BBQ plate. Mine was juicy, hot and thank good ess, not too salty. Salt is one detriment in Southern cooking which is a huge turn-off. His food in my opinion was just dry. Maybe I'm not a brisket fan, but I had expected juicy, with more BBQ flavor. Overall it was a good lunch. Be patient when you order certain things because it might take long. Btw God bless y'all for not adding salt to my fries either. And the Mac N Cheese was creamy and delicious. This place DOES NOT SERVE ALCOHOL which was a bummer.

First time.at this place. I called in and ordered . The lady on the phone was super nice, with great customer service. I ordered the potato, sausage sandwich, cheese burger, and cheese cake I got the potato, it was really big, which was ok it needed seasoning, that's it. The sausage sandwich was a negative for me, although it was cooked greatly, no flavor. The BBQ sauce on the side was not special at all. Unfortunately , as for the cheese burger also needed seasoning but was good for the kids also really big, which was great . The cheese cake was delicious 😋 my favorite 😍

It's not a bad place at all. Got the 3 meat plate with 2 sides and drink cost about $25. Brisket was very juicy and melts in your mouth. Sausage was excellent. Wasn't pleased about the ribs. We go there about once a month. Today I had ribs and was disappointed. No smoke flavor at all. It was like they were wrapped up and then put on a pit ( or oven) to cook. I never use BBQ sauce because , to me, that would be an insult to the chef, but today was an exception. I didn't even eat it all. I was bummed out. I won't make that mistake again. The people there are nice and the place is clean with fun decor to look at.

I’ll be back, because I know how good it has always been, before... This has to be a one-off situation (at least, I pray so).

Me and my kid went to do a pick up order for lunch. I wasn’t expecting to spend $32 on a potato, a kids meal and a side of banana pudding but hey lol. Potato would have been so much better if it had the chives, bacon like normal loaded potatoes have but hey lesson learned to I guess ask. Over all the taste wasn’t bad. Just a bit pricey for a mom and kids meals. Atmosphere was pretty neat, my kid loved the decor and animals on the walls.

I went to this place because someone had previously purchased food for us multiple times. My visit wasn’t so great . I ordered $118 worth of a disappointment. The only thing that was good was the baked beans and potato salad. I ordered 2 pounds brisket and 2 pounds sausage. The brisket was very dry and my kids were upset that the sausage was boiled not Barbecued. I was upset that I’d drove a long ways and paid for boiled meat instead of Barbecue !!! 🤮🤮

Service was great and everyone was super nice and helpful. Unfortunately the food was mediocre, at best, but the portions were huge! Also I'm not sure if they were having problems with the AC but it was hot! Like stifling. It made the whole experience almost unbearable and we took most of our food to go because we couldn't stand the heat.

We frequent here often for the chicken fried steak, yesterday we did not have a good experience , the chicken fry tasted different , we ask lady in charge if recipe had changed but had weird taste, she looked offended, replies nothing is wrong. But we probably won’t go back since she did not seem to care that their food quality has declined! Sad.

We used to loved going to this place, today was the exception.. we order as always 2 Half chicken dinners and 1Turkey dinner and a side of half pound of brisket, brisket was delicious juicy and tender as well the Turkey dinner, BUT here is the sad part, both orders of chicken dinner were really dry and dry, it was like they have the chicken cooking for sooooooo long that it was dry and hard, my husband did tell to the cashier and as well the young boy who was working as a waiter but they just ignore our complaint and acted like nothing happen, we ask about the owner and he said they were out and maybe they will be in later but didn't try to at least ask us what they can do about our food no being good. I ate mine because I was hungry but my husband didn't really touch his half chicken, we will think twice before going to this place again and really feel sorry because it was our favorite until today.

The sauce was really, really good, but the meat was very dry. My son got the Brisket dinner and the meat was bland and dry. I got the stuffed baked potato. The meat has sauce already on it, but was so dry it stayed in a mound on the potato. I added more, and it tasted pretty good. On the plus side, the atmosphere was great. If I'm really desperate for some BBQ, I might give it a second chance, because the other places out here aren't even worth mentioning. Additionally, they accidentally charged my credit card twice and I have been trying to get in touch with them for 2 days to get it fixed. They have not answered. The atmosphere and the service was great. The food wasnt that good though. The chopped brisket was really minced, that it was almost mushy. The sausage lacked that punch in flavor, you had to smother it in bbq sauce. Again, great atmosphere and great service. Just what we had wasnt up to par.

The “chopped” beef is not chopped it’s shredded so thin, it gives it such a different taste. The flavor was ok but the texture was nasty. The mac and cheese was good. Maybe the other food is great but if you are looking for the traditional “chopped beef” baked potato this is not it.

First time coming to this place for a good dinner but the lady in the register with the messy bun was more interesting in telling the party in front of us her life problems than taking our order, we were there trying to get her attention but she ignored us. This was one of the worst representations of Texas BBQ I have ever eaten in my life. The brisket was dry, the sausage tasted like it was boiled and it turned to mush in my mouth. The ribs were absolutely disgusting, the potato salad was blended like a smoothie. The baked beans tasted like they were straight from the dollar store. Maybe they were just having a bad day. I hope they can do better. I'm not a food expert, but damn that was bad food today. Get someone in there that actually knows how Texas BBQ should be done.

We took my father-in-law here for his birthday. So he wanted the big steak meal. Not only did he not get it but the owner made him re buy after we waited 45mins bc they couldn't find the number. and then when he finally got it , it was completely chewy and low quality. If he didn't paid again she was going to take the money from her employees tips so my sweet poor father in law wasn't going to let that happen so he just paid again. The owner lady was so disrespectful and rude. She had her waitress crying and blaming her for everything. We will never eat here again we just thought things had changed over the years and wanted to give it another shot. The other food was great except the steak and chopped beef sandwich. Hopefully the owner lady will stop being this way and treat the employees and customers better.

I came here few weeks ago to do an order to go. Lady was nice. All I ordered was 2 bbq potatoes. The bbq wasn’t what I’ve ever had in my entire life. It tasted like it was put in a blender & made to be 1 big mush blob on the potatoes instead of cut up or shredded meat. No sauce. When I was asked if I wanted everything on the potatoes we didn’t get sour cream, chives, or cheese! Just the meat looked like & texture wise of what my dog has thrown up. For the price of what I paid on 2 potatoes with bbq should have all the other stuff when it’s a stuffed potato & especially when I’m asked if I want it. This place is not for us in the future!

Went and bought 2 chopped beef baked potatoes yesterday. Told the cashier to please add extra toppings to both. The meat is literally like beef jerky with some bbq sauce. Use to love coming here for chicken fried steak it's been a long while since I been here but decided I wanted the chicken fried steak today it's been about a year or more since I got it. To my surprise the price went up to 13.99 or 14.99 to go I said ok that's fine add a bake potato wow it was a 3 dollar up charge. Now its getting expensive so when I got my dinner the steak was dramatically tiny compared to what it was. Chewy expensive no thanks never again

When placing to go orders they are very stingy on the bbq sauce. I paid almost $30 for a brisket sandwich and some sausage and they didn’t give any sauce. Dry bbq is not so good also where are the toppings for the sandwiches? No pickles or onions. When I called the girl said she will speak to the kitchen and hung up.

Steak ready in 6 mins, to go, chicken fried steak was soggy, no taste, looked like it's been sitting for awhile . Should have been suspicious when they said it be ready in 6 min. I think this was left over from their lunch run; at least that is what it looks like and taste, which had no taste.

I am so disappointed in this place. I heard that it was so good and also agreeable that the portions was plenty, but the food was terrible. My ribs tasted like it had been boiled and reheat it. It was afternoon about around three Ish when we got the order. The sausage had no taste at all. The brisket was tender, but not seasoned rather tasteless. I called the restaurant to let them know how the food was and that I was very disappointed because I had heard that the food was very good. I asked for the manager and the receptionist said she was not in that she would give her the message and she would call me back Well it was late and I did not expect a call that night but the next day still no call from the manager, so I called again and asked for the manager and the receptionist again said that the manager was busy but she would call me back before she leave and I said OK thank you And she asked me if the call was pertaining to the food and I said yes, and I explained to her why I was dissatisfied. She did offer me an apology and said she was very sorry that I experienced that but the manager would give me a call. I said approximately what time so that I would be by my phone And she said around 8 PM. I still did not receive a call from the manager. Today is about a week later and I still have not received a call so I hesitated to do this review because I only like giving good reviews, but I felt like the manager could have at least offered me a comp for the meal a replacement meal or a credit to come back she did not have to refund anything. This is what I call. Poor customer relationship and Service. I will not return there and I will not refer anyone.
