Stingaree Crystal Beach Reviews
One of our favorite places on Bolivar Peninsula. It is a must stop every visit. Food is excellent, food is consistent and fast, no matter how busy they are. They often have daily or weekend specials that are amazing. Especially the Spicy Cajun Alfredo Bread Bowl. The servers are efficient, very attentive and friendly. Today we had James (GrayBeard) and he did a fantastic job of taking care of us. He was friendly, quick to check if we had any needs and our glasses never went empty. The original owner of Stingaree even stopped by our table to visit. I bring all of my friends and family to Stingaree when they visit our home here. The current and longtime owner is also very friendly and often stops by tables to chat or answer questions . Every staff member pitches in, even if they are not assigned to a table, they still pop by and ask if all is good or anything needed. Don’t forget to stop by the excellent selection of merch on the way out. It is always on hand and updated frequently. Lastly, if you plan to go for dinner, go before sunset so you can go out on the deck and catch the best sunset view on Crystal Beach.
Update: we literally came back the next night. Got the half pound boiled shrimp and 2 mangonadas to start. Just as good as the night before. For entrees we got one honey jalapeño shrimp, one seafood stuffed shrimp, one side of fries and one side of green beans. I didnt take any pictures but everything was so freaking good. Like, everything. Im already think about how I can copy their green beans and seafood stuffed shrimp at home. Our server was Brenda and she was just as good/nice/attentive as Karrie. Don't pass this place up. I was a little nervous after reading the poor reviews on staff and wait time. I guess we were lucky and didnt experience any of this. We came at 5p on a Saturday and there was no wait. Our waitress, Karrie, was simply amazing. She gave wonderful recommendations (what ever you do, please put the Tony C seasoning on your coleslaw) and was very attentive. We had the pound of boiled shrimp appetizer, the seasoning was delicious. We had the stingaree mangonada margarita and the bolivar breeze. The margarita was huge and delicious. The bolivar breeze was good but so small. For our entrées we had the Bolivar boiler and the grilled seafood plater and both blew our expectations out of the water. Everything on the grilled seafood platter was so good, but the shrimps (bbq, regular and stuffed) and catfish stole the show. The boiler was seasoned perfectly. Honestly we could have shared one of the entrées, it was a lot of food. One of the best thing about our visit was Uncle George. He came to check on us half way through our meal, I saw him checking on other guests and bussing tables. When I asked Karrie who he was she said he was one of the original owners and now a manager. Its been a long time since I've seen a manager walking to check on guests and bus tables. We are planning on coming back tomorrow night.
Ask for Cody B, was very attentive, personality was excellent, and he goes above and beyond as a server! We had calamari that was perfect. Small sizes only available and that ensured nothing was chewy. Perfect crunch and taste served with the best marinara, however we chose cocktail sauce for them and that tasted even better! Did a combo plater with fried catfish and grilled shrimp with fries and grilled veggies. Veggies cooked perfectly, grilled shrimp was fantastic (comes with 4 HUGE shrimp), catfish batter was delicious and fries had a wonderful crunch! Must try the key lime pie with Oreo crust! We will see you guys again!!
Food/drinks/atmosphere were great! We got the appetizer sampler and a Mexican shrimp cocktail and they were phenomenal! Awesome sunset from the deck, too. 10/10 will return.
We visited last week and man oh man those were the best raw oysters I’ve had in a very long time. The pile of BBQ crabs was on point and so fun to pick with a huge margarita. Simple yet mouthwatering hush puppies. Service was excellent. Thanks Christine! The view brought me back to my childhood… back in the 90s we’d take the Grady White over and make a day of it. Stingaree is coast staple and wows me every single time I go.
We have been coming here for a few years now on our trips to Crystal Beach. The seafood is always fresh and the place is packed on the weekends. Blue Crabs, Shrimp and red fish are always the favorites. The views are also incredible and you can see the sunset from inside the dining room.
Always great food and service over looking the canal with a sunset view that’s hard to beat as well. Summer time is prime time. Go early or you may have to wait a bit. Sitting on the deck with a cocktail watching the barges go by is a good day spent
Drove over 70 miles here to explore the beach and were looking for food. Found this place from asking locals and we were NOT disappointed. Kerri our server was so sweet and welcoming and was very attentive to refilling drinks and making sure we were doing okay. She even gave us tips on where to find sea glass and seashells!! She was super awesome!!! We will definitely be back!
Wow. This is definitely a must experience place and do not judge the book by its cover. Awesome service provided by our friendly server Dan. Seafood was top notch fresh and quality you can't get from commercial restaurants. The view of the marina is great. I will definitely come back when in town.
Kerri did an amazing job!!!! We sat outside and it was a little chilly. She let us use her sweatshirt. Served us outside, she did not have to. Food was good but the 5 star service was almost more impressive. Thank you so much Kerri for making our Stingray experience so worth the drive over. 🥰
It’s a fun restaurant to run the boat to. The docks are newly redone. The food is pretty good. The drinks are great. The service is usually pretty good. The only “complaint” I have is we are clear that we don’t want salt on the mugarita rim. Usually it’s not an issue but sometimes it has been. Of course the drinks go back to the bar but the bartender will just pour the salted Rita into another glass. That’s not ok to me. You have to watch that. If you dint mind it then it’s not a big deal but for someone who doesn’t like the overpowering salt taste, you need to watch. They will fix it so that’s ok. We’ve been going for years. It is worth it. The upstairs and downstairs hace different menus. Both have delicious drinks!
Restaurant is very clean and we were greeted with smiling faces. We ordered Bloody Mary’s, which were small but quite good. We ordered fried shrimp with various sides, hush puppies, red beans and rice , and dirty rice . Shrimp were plump and sweet, sides were well seasoned. There was one order of fried oysters, they weren’t very large but tasty. For dessert we got a key lime pie with Oreo cookie crust and a lemon blueberry mascarpone cake, both were excellent. Our waitress was exceptional and attentive. Over all great place to enjoy lunch or dinner.
We visited on a Wednesday evening to celebrate our anniversary. Our server Cody was great, very attentive and friendly. The food was amazing! We ordered shrimp stuffed avocado salad, cup of gumbo and mozzarella sticks as appetizers- all were delicious. For entrees we had the Bolivar boil and shrimp lovers platter. Both were very generous portions, seasoned well and cooked to perfection. As a nice bonus Cody brought us a dessert to end our wonderful anniversary meal! We will definitely visit again!
I loved it!! We went over the weekend for my birthday, Labor Day weekend lined up. Anyways I have been having to watch my cholesterol and they have an amazing Greek salad!! It was so good, I came back the next day. Both servers were helpful and accommodating, as well as kind and playful to my 5 yr old son. ALSO you have to try the chocolate tres leches cake!
My best friend and I drove down on 8/29/25 just to have lunch. It was a 3 1/2 hour drive. We had Jennifer as our server. She was awesome. She brought me a new salad when I informed her I was allergic to cheese and forgot to tell her. I was just going to take the cheese off. We are looking forward to go back. It was worth the drive.
The goal was to cross the ferry from Galveston to Bolivar. Enjoyed the view, made it to Stingaree, no reservations can be made. We were happy there was an enclosed lift for my 93year old MIL. We were able to get a table by the window to watch the Intercoastal Canal traffic on the water. We had a very good server “Angel” who consistently checked on us. We ordered 3 different seafood entrees. We were Umming the whole time. Everything was so fresh and very delicious. Our tropical drinks were very good too. We thanked our server Angel, tipped her, plus a two dollar bill for waiting our table with a smile, great conversation, and service !!!!
Crab was a little over cooked and gumbo not our favorite but catfish (under crab) was really tasty. All of the different types of shrimp were delicious, local on tap beer good. Stay late and go downstairs to Down Under when they have live music.
First time and food was really good. Service was slow but it was packed. Found out the crawfish are exclusively downstairs. Maybe a sign out front Would be nice to tell newcomers.
Stingaree delivered. Had the shrimp po’boy sandwich (it was bland, but chock full of shrimp) and the stuffed shrimp with a loaded baked potato. Both dishes were tasty. Plentiful portions provided. Server Hailey P. was fantastic. Very attentive, provided excellent customer service. Only downside: The almost world-famous Stingarita. It was tiny, almost insultingly so, and very pricy. Skip the margarita. Additionally, you pay a higher amount if you pay with credit card (about 3% more) so bring cash and save a little money. Everything else was wonderful. A great experience. Will definitely visit again for the food and service.
Were not accommodating the handicap today. The lift was broken so my husband could not go upstairs to the restaurant. So we decided to eat downstairs. They did not have a full menu. We drove over a hundred miles to eat here and wanted a seafood dinner. They would not accommodate us by bringing our meal down to us from the restaurant. There was a dealership that was parking their boats and vehicles in the handicap spots so that they could sell the merchandise. Have been planning this trip for months. Had to wait for my husband's shoulder replacement surgery and time to heal. I will definitely not be returning.
