Casa Tikal Cuernavaca Reviews
By the same owners of the excellent Iguanas Green’s in Cuernavaca, this is another beautifully decorated restaurant where I highly recommend the chicken with almond and chocolate sauce, and their delicious drinks and coffee. Everything at very affordable prices. The staff is so nice and the ambience so pleasant mixing food and art that this is a place where you want to spend hours.
We have eaten here in the past but stopped going because the service was so poor. We decided to give it another try and while the service wasn’t much better, the food was just short of awful. We arrived too early for lunch and I decided to have chicken enchiladas, hubby had arrancheras. We asked if the sauce was really spicy and told the waiter we didn’t like things really hot so no chili, please. Someone needs to tell the cook that “ not spicy” does not mean NO SPICES! I literally could have taken a jar of pasta sauce from the store and it would have tasted better. It literally was some plain tomato sauce. I’m not even sure there was salt! We were offered nothing else. No onions, no pico de gallon, no bread, no salad, nothing! The waiter never returned, not that it would have mattered. I also don’t understand why there were several fans in the front dining room ( where there are windows) but none in the back where it was quite stuffy. At least the restroom was clean! We probably won’t be back for a long time.
Lovely place to eat breakfast with family or friends. Delicious food. I asked for quesadillas de cochinita and o loved them
Me and hubby love finding new places to eat and that day we were actually looking for a ramen place next door. We saw the entrance to Casa Tikal and decided to go for Mexican Food instead. This restaurant has 2,5 rooms and an inner patio, an old house, that has paintings, old furniture, statues and figurines as decoration. The tables and table wear are simple, just like in someone's house, definitely not posh restaurant -like. The menu.. is impressively long with many different Mexican (and not only) dishes from different corners of the country. When you order a dish, you actually order a full lunch with a tortilla chips plate+ 2 salsas to begin with, a starter (soup/salad or rice), the dish itself and a water of the day, that is more than enough for 4 people.. Taste of dishes I could describe as home-made, sauces perfectly balanced, never too salty or too spicy or too rich. Water of the day is refreshing with a perfect amount of sweetness (here in Mexico water tends to be too sweet for my taste, but not in this place) If you will decide to visit during lunch time on the weekend, you might see a line outside of the door, but you will be impressed by the speed it actually disappears in the restaurant, compliment on the team work of waiters and chefs! Separately the prices need to be mentioned. There are 3-4 different prices, depending on the dish. A selection of more simple ones you can try for $80,-, more elaborated for $135, the portions are great! They make you full and satisfied so you actually can finish it and maybe share a desert of have a mezcal after to help your food settle in in the stomach. This place combines the famous 3B (bueno, bonito y barato) and we have been there 5 times already within 2 months, trying different dish every time. Casa Tikal never failed us! We are happy to have found this restaurant in Cuernavaca. Sorry for the ramen place next door, we still haven't made it there.
One of my favorite restaurants in Cuernavaca. Inventive menu with lots of options including vegetarian. Prices are inexpensive. Beautiful rooms and decoration. The back room has an enchanting indoor garden.
Haven't eaten there, but I have passed by many times. It is a nice looking place, with a rustic design. Looks like a cool place to eat.
Great traditional food and service!!! You can see some works by amazing artist Cisco Jiménez.
Very nice place! Cool art on the walls, tranquil atmosphere, authenic mexican food and good prices!!
Very tasty food at reasonable prices.
A fine place to get your meal in the center of Cuernavaca, they bake their own bread and have a nice selection of Mexican dishes , well prepared with good ingredients, could be mistaken for a tourist trap, but even the locals dig it, try it out next time you are in Cuernavaca
The place is quirky decorated, a messy mix of things from various cultures. The food is good (better than iguanas and Emiliano's, brother restaurants and more expensive too) The service is regular. They acept credit and debit cards. The place doesn't have access to wheelchair, no parking.
Excellent place, I liked the ambiance and the food is very good. Affordable for almost anyone.
Good food, affordable prices, not so good service
Good food, good prices. Low drink choices. Mexican dishes.
Casual ambiance. Eclectic decor somewhat haphazard and not kept up. Menu offered many options and combinations with drink, soup and entree included. Food was quite good and extremely reasonably pri…
We had some brunch in this place. They allow pets, and in general we had a good experience. My mom came with us and ask if the chilaquiles with peanut sauce were spicy and the guy who took the order mentioned they weren’t too spicy, and From all the food we had those were the spicy ones. The flavors were good, but for foreign people they should be more careful on recommending spicy food. Thank god my husband loves spicy, but I gave my food away to my mom so she can had something that day. The flavors were good in general.
Food tasted okay, but finding a long hair inside your plate ruins everything. What’s more is that they still decided to charge us full price for that plate. Couldn’t even finish the rest of the meal from being grossed out.
Casa tikal looked like a cute place to dine at so when we entered, we waited for someone to come up to us since there were employees walking around but no one did. We decided to ask since no one at…

I've never felt like more of a third wheel than when I came here. I waited for 5 minutes at the front, got ignored three separate times.
I wanted to love this place, warm service, and great decor with a very Mexican feeling. I can say that from the four things we ordered, everything was below average, pancita was so hard and flavorless, Rabitwith Green Mole didnt have any flavor bland and boring, Cochinita was another disapointment. The only foods we all liked were the tortillas and Jamaica and mint water. Rather than seeing a gigantic menu with mediocre food would much prefer a smaller menu with more quality.
No bottled water, so unable to eat here. I was excited, the pics and reviews looked good, but not safe water option for travelers.
Food is ok But the service is terrible so hot inside no air flow and no fans
