Really good coffee but super expensive. Syrups are 1.25$ for a couple pumps? I would come back, but this is more like a treat place since it was almost 9$ for one latte.

Consistently great coffee and a solid place to work or relax The Boy & The Bear on Washington is one of the most reliable coffee shops in the area. The coffee is consistently excellent—smooth, balanced, and well-roasted without being overly bitter or acidic. They take their sourcing seriously, focusing on Colombian beans, and it shows in the flavor. Their espresso drinks are precise, and the drip and pour-over options are also strong if you’re looking for something less milky. The shop itself is clean and minimalist, with a cool, modern vibe. Plenty of seating both inside and out. It’s a good environment to get work done—usually not too loud, and the Wi-Fi is dependable. Outlets can be limited during peak hours, but it’s manageable if you plan ahead. The staff is professional and efficient. They know their stuff, but they’re not overbearing about it. Service is usually quick, even when it’s busy. Pastries and small bites are fresh and good quality, though the food options are limited (as expected for a shop focused on coffee). They also participate in food waste reduction apps like Too Good To Go, which is a nice touch if you’re looking for a deal or care about sustainability. Overall, this is a great neighborhood coffee spot—consistent, comfortable, and focused on doing a few things really well. Easy to recommend.

Making my coffee run on Sunday afternoon and deciding to stop by Boy and The Bear intrigued by how crowded the place has always been every time I passed by regardless the time in the day. Despite being busy with guests, I loved how the cafe stayed pretty quiet with most guests indeed just spent their time on their laptops or books amidst the contemporary vibes. Have been there multiple times before and trying their Stockholm Fog, Salted Caramel Latte, and Vanilla Latte and love them all! Balance between coffee, milk, and the flavored syrup were just right. Highly recommend to stop by for work, chill, or even just grabbing a cup to go.

My wife and I came here to work a little bit from this café. It has a lot of space and plenty of sockets to charge your laptop etc. The staff was so friendly and made such a pretty flat white, I mean look at the photo. Additionally I got a danish cream pastry that also was heated up for me and tasted yummy. Could have spent more time there, very inviting. Will come back :)

Love the interior design of this place. The window seats are nice, too, with outlet and good lighting. I tried their seasonal pumpkin latte, thought it was pretty rich but probably would like to try their original latte next time. Overall, a good experience and would love to visit again!

Great atmosphere and nice place to enjoy your coffee or get things done! The staff were friendly. I had Alvaro Colombian single origins coffee and it was very excellent. I would take it again. I would recommend visiting this place. Great job guys and keep up the good work!

Columbian coffee, roasted in LA. Smooth and delicious flavors. The location is well adorned with clean and elegant decor. We had the guava and cream cheese croissant which was good. While the exterior was a bit dry, the center was delicious. Had an oat milk latte which was good and very smooth. Would recommend for a good coffee/latte, etc.

Great tasting coffee! You can tell the quality difference from other shops.. I had a mocha frappe, w/ almond milk. && tasted their chocolate/banana bread.. it was so rich 🥺 lightly toasted on the outside and soft on the inside. The inside of the shop is very beautiful & modern too! So happy my bf and I decided to stop by before we left back home.

Very nice, quiet, and comfortable place to work, chat, and drink coffee. There are couches, outlets, and the music is soft enough to concentrate on work. In terms of coffee, I loved the stockholm fog. It’s a mix between mocha and chai and it’s absolutely delicious. Sweet, creamy, and flavorful. The croissants are also delicious. One important thing to remember is that they only take card. Customer in front of me only had cash so they had to turn them away. I wish I could’ve told them I’d pay for them, but I’m too introverted for that. In terms of price, I’d say it’s $$. Paid $8 for my coffee (had oat milk substitute though) but the size is very small. My croissant was also $6.62. I think you’re mostly paying for the vibe, but that’s worth it for me since I can’t always find a peaceful place to do my work.

These kinds of coffee shops are rare. A true coffee experience for any person seriously interested in the craft of coffee (or those just getting started as well). The coffee selection is strictly Columbian through direct (and I mean truly direct) farmer-roaster-barista relationships. We had a wonderful experience working with our barista, Jake, to identify ideal pour over options for our individual preferences. The balance of a worker who truly enjoys their craft and, out of that enjoyment, is eager to make the intricacies of coffee accessible to all walks of people is essential in the cafe experience. Jake did a great job of bringing that balance, making us feel welcome, and bringing us deeper into the wonderfully wild world of coffee. In addition to delicious coffee, the space is thoughtfully organized with classic window bar stool seating, your generic (but welcome) two-chair small tables, some bar seating overlooking the going ons of coffee drink production, quick in and out seating near the door, and two couch and comfy chair spaces. Don’t miss out, give this shop a try.

This five star review has me questioning all past five-star reviews, almost wishing we could add the decimal points. And this is because the quality of coffee and service here, in my experience, are exceptional. So much so I went out of my way to come twice in a row. I had the mint mocha both times which was delicious but there are other things on the menu that look delightful and that I would love to try.

We had such a wonderful experience at The Boy & The Bear in Culver City. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and full of character ~ the kind of place where you instantly feel relaxed. The service was absolutely amazing as well; everyone was incredibly friendly and attentive, and their recommendations were spot on. The coffee itself was excellent, but what truly made the visit special was the combination of the cozy vibe and genuinely welcoming staff. It’s definitely a place I’d love to come back to ~ highly recommend if you’re in the area! ☕ 🐻 ✨👍

LA coffee shops are back huh? This place I stopped at by coincidence was amazing. The coffee is top notch and the employee was friendly without having that “customer service voice”. The atmosphere is at once, cool and warm, it’s a calm sleek place but with comfortable accommodations that make it ideal for quiet study or just enjoying a cup. Worth every penny

Its really bare as far as decorations go. Kinda boring but internet is fast. I had the sparkling matcha which was really refreshing. Not sweet but not bitter. Parking is difficult and its next to a rehabilitation center so not the best location but it was good. They dont have a lot of options but if you like just coffee and tea this is nice.

This place is alright. I ordered an espresso con panna, the espresso was mid, and then they sprayed a dollop of ready whip on top. Not exactly what you would get in Italy but it’s alright. I also got the almond croissant as recommended by the guy helping me who was friendly. That too was only average, looked better than it was, maybe I just need to order different things. There is lots of seating and it wasn’t busy. Parking can be found along the street. They have both sweet and savory pastry options.

The lattes are very good--rich and creamy. I do wish they had bigger sizes available (12 ounces only). It's also not a place to come when you're in a rush. Even with very few people ordering, the lattes are made pretty slowly. They have tables and sofas. It's a little dark inside, but kind of cozy, too. Lots of pastries for sale.

Great modern coffee place, high quality indeed. The espresso here served in the best way I found so far in LA, a single shot, small chocolate cube, and small glass of sparkling water. The mix of the three is just perfect, like a local coffee shop in a small village in Italy or Spain. I’ve found the design a bit heavy, a little bit too gray and brutalist and some plastic trees, but seems like a promising great place which hopefully could have a bit more of color for inspiration. But definitely worth the time and space for a great coffee time!!

I was visiting LA for my birthday, and found this cute little coffee shop. The coffee was good. The apple pastry was buttery and delicious. However, the service was subpar. The lady barista at the register did not seem keen on answering our questions about their drink menu. Considering the some of the drink names were ones created by the store, it was difficult to figure what exactly the drink was. When I asked, the lady acted frustrated and looked disgruntled. Not the best way to start the morning, I would say.

I love the grey tone decor and the peaceful atmosphere of this little coffee shop. However, my cappuccino was pretty mediocre and really hot, at $5.5 that is quite pricey. One other thing that stood out during my visit is their to-go cup is really thin. I was afraid even a gentle gripe would change its shape and spill the coffee that I was waiting to cool down.
