Mama's Daughters' Diner Dallas Reviews
Love the small cafe feel. I have been here several time and each time the hostess and waiter/waitress have been wonderful and the food is great!
If you are looking for a great, home cooked meal, this is the place! The sweet tea is the perfect sweetness, food came out fast and was amazing. Tender chicken fried chicken, perfectly seasoned, fat green beans and real.....let me repeat, REAL, ACTUAL mashed potatoes with so much delicious gravy. The prices are more than fair for what you get. $9.99 gets you a meat and 3 generous portions of vegeatables.
the best breakfast foods in town. service is quick and friendly, and the portions are good.
This is definitely a hidden gem! Homestyle cooking, fun atmosphere and friendly service! ❤️
Today, while I was waiting for my car to be serviced, I decided that since I had a couple hours to spend, I would have some lunch. I popped over to this lovely quaint diner. I'm here to tell you that their roast beef was out of this world. My entree was served with three generous sides and corn bread. I was thinking the food would take at least a few minutes to be delivered to my table, but it came straight out! No waiting at all! Delicious and piping hot. The service was impeccable as well. Romelia was very pleasant.
Absolutely delicious food. Such a cute diner! Very nice waitresses! Will be back!! Its very clean, well kept and a good place!
This place actually knows real biscuits!! It’s hard to find a delicious biscuit here in north Texas but look no farther I have found them for you!! If your jam is biscuits and gravy like mine you’ve found the right place. For me the gravy doesn’t matter it’s all about the biscuit and they make true real biscuits!! I can not say enough about the biscuit!! Baked to perfection soft inside just perfect! Staff was friendly and attentive. Never let my coffee get cold or empty. Been a dallas staple for many years and many more to come I’m pretty sure. Want a good reasonably priced breakfast come to this place you won’t be disappointed!! 5 stars just for the biscuit alone!!
The space was so nice and cozy and the service was fantastic. The servers actually like serving people which is a nice change of pace from Houston. We went in at 10:30 and left at 11:00, the food was out in at least 10 minutes. The prices were great, 6.75 for a great portioned burger and the food was delicious. Would absolutely recommend to anybody and will come again next time I’m in Dallas.
Best home cooking in Town!! Friendly staff and VERY fast at serving the food.
It has been some time since I have been at Mama's daughters diner. Recently, my sister wanted to take me out for lunch for my birthday so I suggested Mama's daughters. The place is just as fantastic as I remember. The food is unbelievably delicious. I believe this is what you would call comfort food. The portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable. The place gets crowded quick, so don't be deterred if you have to stand in line. They do turn tables pretty quickly. Give it a try. You will definitely not be disappointed!
A small diner with delicious food and wonderful customer service. As soon as we entered, we were greeted and seated with our server immediately coming to tend to our beverage needs. The walls are filled with movie posters, news clips, autographed photos of athletes, and news stories of former employees. This is a beautiful down home cozy place.
Delicious Southern homestyle food. Even at the peak of lunch rush I was seated and served quickly. I ordered beef tips on rice, turnip greens, fava beans, and peaches for dessert. Along with Coca-Cola it ended up being 16 bucks for a full meal. The beef tips were some of the best I've ever had. The fava beans could have been slightly more flavorful but were still pretty good. I'll definitely stop by again when I'm in the area.
Funny story! Visiting from Houston 3 weeks ago, walking out of a different restaurant and a homeless guy stopped me and said, hey, you should try Mamas, they have way better food, He said, he should know he eats out of all the dumpsters around town. We all laughed and the next day tried Mamas. They have amazing home style comfort food! Relaxed atmosphere. Reminds me of an old school diner. If you’re craving an amazing breakfast with biscuits and gravy this is the place to go in Dallas! Fast, friendly service!
This is our go to spot for a warm homestyle breakfast! I live less than 5 minutes away and it’s super convenient for me to stop for a quick bite or have it delivered on my lazy days. I always get the #2 w/French toast and Turkey sausage and add a side a hash browns. My partner gets the chicken fried steak and a waffle for dessert. This truly is a hidden gem!
One of the best eat spots I've been to for some good home cooked food and a menu with something for everyone. The service is top notch quick and friendly so you feel like your amongst friends.
This was our first time at this restaurant, and it will not be our last. The food was great and the service was too. 👍👍 we will definitely go back.
Small, family feel. Be prepared, it’s crowded! Which, is a great thing. It just means the food is that much better!! This was our second visit. Always a good experience. Price is reasonable and we had leftovers for the two of us. We never had an empty glass or an empty plate. The staff were fast and friendly and patient. I did add this to my favorites list when I visit DFW.
We always love eating here when we are out that way for work. My okra was a little cold last time but it wouldn't stop me from going back
Great breakfast. The chicken fried steak was awesome, not something I'd normally have with breakfast. Can't beat the prices!
Excellent food, amazing menu of local TX favorites. Service was friendly and fast.
This place made me feel like I was a regular customer that eats there every day. The food was great and it matched the service. I'm from Tennessee and this was a highlight i will remember in Texas.
I had the Mommas breakfast i believe with the chicken fried steak and it was delicious. The biscuits were so fluffy and amazing! Service was ok, and going in we stood awkwardly for a minute bc we didnt knownif we should seat ourselves or wait. And checking out took a little minute. However everyone was friendly enough. Be careful with the wayer faucet in the womens restroom. While I was washing my hands the toilet flushed in the men's and burnt my hand pretty bad (it was lukewarm when I started washing)
One of the best places to visit if your in Dallas to give you a down home dining experience. Both breakfast and lunch options are great choices. My waitress customer service was spot on from beginning to end, very nice overall. Food arrived 7 minutes from ordering. Hot and fresh chicken fried chicken smothered with gravy. Breakfast is always good. Parking space is small. All employees seem to be happy working there and it shows with great service.
For what it is, Mammas Daughters restaurant is a 5 star. It is a down home cooking, friendly place at very reasonable prices. I went with a friend and we had chicken fried steak and smothered beef steak. Everything was tasty and delicious and the service was great. The portions were generous, the service was fast and everyone was friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
This is the best diner google recommended me so far. Located in suburb Downtown Dallas and the place looking like a rundown 60’s diner let me tell you it’s far from it once you get inside. Inside you’re greeted with a family atmosphere and very warm greeting. You get to sit yourself and take in all the warm family photos of the restaurant and mama said lines scattered all around the ceiling. Service is fairly quick and very friendly. The options on the menu should read portions are large because the meals definitely will fill you up and it’s cooked to order. Everything is prepared fresh and hot and delicious; filling every taste bud with mamas home cooked meals. The price for two people is mind blowing awesome. For two I spent no more than $30 including tip on both occasions and I feel like I should tip more for what they offer and how amazing the service and food is!! Definitely recommend coming here and giving this place a try you won’t regret it and you can’t use the excuse it’s a long wait!!
Mama’s Daughters’ Diner delivers classic comfort food with a warm, homey atmosphere that makes every visit feel familiar. The portions are hearty, the flavors are nostalgic, and the staff keep things friendly and efficient. Whether you're stopping in for breakfast or a comforting plate lunch, it’s a reliable spot for simple, satisfying Southern cooking.
I was in a hurry this morning for an appointment. I did my best to try to enjoy my food. But Miss Ashley was a delight! She did answer her leg or foot, so it's going to take some time to heal, but be patient with her. What I really love is that you weren't picky about where you can take a seat. You are allowed to sit wherever you like. The lady who owned it unfortunately passed away 10 years ago, but their granddaughter and daughters are highly involved in the business. And I do come by on and off. I can't wait to get back and try the pies, which I heard was so delicious. I think I found another favorite eating place! Everything looked great, and my blueberry pancakes actually had a lot of blueberries in it, not just three of them, LOL. So if you don't eat all your food, expect to take a doggy bag home.
Food and service was great, old school mom and pop restaurant, the biscuits and gravy were amazing! Definitely would come back again, you get served a good portion of food for the price you pay as well.
What a hidden gem !! Love the Old Diner feel. The food was amazing and the service was fantastic we had the sweetest waitress. We will be going back to try the lunch menu. Highly recommend going here you won't be disappointed!!
Went with my daughters:) Coffee was spot on. Perfect bacon, fluffy eggs and pancakes, and I'm a 40yo Southern woman-I can say these are the best rolls and corn muffins ever. Staff is friendly and on top of things. Cute atmosphere and exactly what you'd expect from a diner.
This place is so good! Ive been in for breakfast on many occasions and the food sure hit the spot! It has an old feel to it inside. The service is ALWAYS great! The price was reasonable too. Feels just like my mother made it! Restrooms are one-person only, wish they were bigger for the volume of customers you see coming in and out. Other than that, I love everything about this place! I will continue to come back and I highly recommend yall try it!
So delicious, super fast service despite being busy, and a great atmosphere overall. The location is nice too, great views of downtown. Especially recommend the catfish it really melts in your mouth.
Very yummy and good prices! All the waitresses are nice! Parking is a little cramped. Very homey atmosphere. Bathrooms are single-person, but I've never had an issue with it being too busy.
Looking for a diner that is full of nostalgia, great people and great food? This establishment dating back to the days of our grand/parents' heyday is a true gem! Food is delicious, fresh, and the perfect amount of comfort for your heart and your tastebuds. Just 2 miles from UT Southwestern Dallas Campus, it's something I truly look forward to after doctor visits!
A great spot for a hearty, satisfying breakfast. They serve classic breakfast plates done exceptionally well, letting the quality of the food speak for itself. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel like part of the family. A perfect place to start your day on a delicious note. This review was made in connection with a toast promotion
Amazing diner with a great selection of food. My breakfast was simple but EXACTLY what I asked for. I would have loved to get the chocolate pie (it looked AMAZING), but went with the pumpkin because my sugar level would be happier. Good pie. Great service. (Thank you, Carolyn!)
Not from Dallas (from SA TX/H Town) and glad we picked this spot to eat at. We didn’t wait more than 10 minutes and they have community tables where you sit with strangers which we weren’t crazy about but our neighbors were from buffalo NY and were nice. The breakfast was so fresh and tasty. We didn’t wait too long for the food either. Jose was an excellent waiter and took care of us. This establishment overall had a friendly vibe and would deff come back when in Dallas. I also got French toast and biscuits and gravy which I didn’t take pictures of and they were also yummy.
When I move to the West Dallas area, I found this charm. Many locals have been coming here for years and I can see why I myself have been coming here for five years now and I am so glad that I found it. This place is serving up great breakfast lunch and even some dinner entrées the people and staff are very friendly And can also give you great recommendations on the food options. I have tried most of their meals here and I have never been disappointed. You can come here for great food and great conversation because many people here are so friendly that you can definitely spark up the conversation with anyone The prices are affordable and you get great portions. Mama’s Daughters’ Diner – Where Work Trucks and Good Taste Collide When I travel for work, I steer clear of sad room service eggs and $40 conference hotel buffets that come with all the charm of a TSA checkpoint. Instead, I hunt for a proper diner—someplace where the coffee is strong, the food is hearty, and the biscuits don’t come with a linen napkin. Mama’s Daughters’ Diner delivered all that and more. In Texas, if there’s brisket or chicken fried steak on the menu, I take that as a sign from the universe. I ordered the #1 Texas Sized Breakfast—two eggs, hash browns (because I’m not a grits guy), biscuits (because toast is for the weak), and a glorious slab of chicken fried steak. It was $13.25, but honestly, I would have paid double and still felt like I robbed the place. Add a bottomless mug of coffee and you’re set for a full day of meetings, emails, and pretending to listen on Zoom. Now, I wanted to follow it up with a slice of coconut cream pie, or maybe some peach cobbler, but I held off. Mostly because I didn’t want the judgy look from my coworker who “wasn’t that hungry” and ordered oatmeal (snooze). Next time, I’m going rogue and getting a fried pie. Life’s too short for restraint. Pro tip: the moment I saw the parking lot packed with work trucks, I knew we were in for a good meal. That’s the unofficial Michelin star of the South. Mama’s isn’t some lone roadside gem either—they’ve got a few locations around Dallas, including this one tucked into what they optimistically call the “Design District,” which is actually just code for “light industrial with Instagram potential.” Bottom line? Skip the fancy hotel buffet. Head to Mama’s. Your stomach (and your wallet) will thank you.
Mama's Diner ... Nothing Finer! Great diner just outside of the city of Dallas. If you're looking for an old fashioned greasy spoon diner ..... you found it! You will not be disappointed with the food, service, or especially the decor here! I ordered the #3 with biscuits and Gravy with sausage and the biscuits are made the way they're meant to be made. The hashbrowns are fresh and delicious!!
I was staying at the Hilton around the corner and wanted to eat someplace other than the hotel or the Denny's across the street. So I checked out what else was nearby and I saw this place. It got good reviews and I wanted some good diner food. I was not disappointed. I ordered the big Texas breakfast #1 and I got it with the chicken fried steak, biscuits and gravy and let me tell you I am picky about my white gravy and there's was great. The biscuits were buttery and soft some of the best I have ever had. I liked this place so much that I ate there twice during my 5 days in Dallas. I will definitely go back next time I'm in Dallas. Highly recommend. Service was great both times and they are super fast whether they are busy or not.
What a neat and laid back southern comfort spot here in Dallas! We had a great experience here in this relaxed southern setting with plenty of great food and service to go along with it. I got the grilled chicken with 3 sides for $11 (see daily deals) and my buddy got chicken and waffles. We really enjoyed our food and our time here. Check it out sometime! By the way they are only open until 2pm.
Mama's Daughters' Diner is a cute little mom and pop cafe that is great for a traditional breakfast. This place does get pretty busy on the weekends, but the service is fast and we haven't had to wait too long for a table. We have only eaten breakfast here, but it is a great meal! The portions are standard for breakfast and the prices are reasonable. We do not eat breakfast meat and while they do not allow substitutions on breakfast specials 1-4, I was able to order a special without meat for the same price. The biscuits appear homemade, and the gravy is creamy. I did have an issue with a hair being found in my food, but I brought this up to the waitress who apologized and had my food remade. Definitely will eat here again!

I had a delicious sugar overload with the staff kindness, patience and guidance. I had the French toast and pecan pie With whip cream on top absolutely delicious.
Friendly place! Yummy pancakes! Quiet, clean and quaint! Would highly recommend!\nBiscuits and gravy were 10/10!
Such a great restaurant, with comfort food selections and yummy. Only negative is, it is so popular, you might have to wait for a seat.

We stopped here for breakfast. Food was great with affordable prices and great portions. Staff was friendly and service was great.

The food was okay, it just took a long time to get, but made it better with the waitress being sooooo kind!!! The only thing I didn't like was how close the tables were to each other.
Classic diner feel and recipes. Great prices excellent service. It’s always packed so plan accordingly.
The original dive diner with gravy on everything! I’m sure you could find some healthy options but that’s not why you come to Mama’s! Family style seating so you’re likely to share a table and the crowd is eclectic - in the parking lot my minivan was between a Ferrari and a construction truck. Always a fun experience…now I need a nap!
Happened upon this place whilst looking for breakfast! If you’re looking for classic diner food this would be a good spot to hit up. Coffee was okay, tasted a little too watered down. Tried the chicken fried steak breakfast and was VERY filling. Servers were great. As we were eating, it started to get really busy with a line outside the door.
If lou tried Norma's you will love Mama's. Same great food friendly service.
Came today for lunch. Much better overall experience here than Norma's. Smelled really nice, wait time wasn't long even for a busy Sunday, food good and fresh. The entire staff were rock stars. Shout out to the couple who surprised us by paying for our meal. We wished we could have thanked you in person. I will follow ur lead and pay it forward as well. Stay blessed.
Family friendly place. Good American food. Our favorites were the pecan waffles, club sandwich, buffalo chicken, mashed potatoes and Lima beans. The chicken fried steak was good but not amazing.
My husband and I stopped in for a late lunch on a Monday afternoon. I was surprised by how many people were there for such a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Our server was friendly and the food was good, nothing super special. I don’t exactly think they’re going for mind-blowing dishes. As we were finishing our meal, we were offered a free slice of pie since they close at 2:30pm so that was a nice treat (on top of the banana pudding we already ordered). Would definitely go back to try more of their desserts and breakfast/lunch staples!
Hi there! We stopped in to the diner for lunch. We got the opportunity to try two things. The hubby opted for breakfast and I opted for lunch. Let me just say that the food here is good. They use real eggs for their breakfasts, and their tuna and fruit plate did not have any of the good old “trash fruit” (yes, I am looking at you cantaloupe and honeydew). So why four stars instead of five? Well, like so many have said before myself… their service is slow. Also, I really hate their coffee. It is not good coffee. It tastes cheap and watered down. With so many competitors in the area that I have visited, I really feel that they could improve those two areas. I would dine here again and even try the fried pies. Would not order the coffee. The atmosphere is unique, and the old dive diner feel is in full swing! I genuinely loved the decor and vibe to the restaurant. Kids will love this restaurant because there is so much to look at. So if you want a break from Ferris Wheelers, then this is a good alternative. Thank you so much for reading!
Found this after a “breakfast” search on Maps and will say it was worth taking the chance. While the interior looks a bit unmaintained the food was really good, specially the french toast and biscuits/gravy (which were huge). The service could improve, while it was busy they were fast with serving the food but not very welcoming. At the end of the day, I would definitely come back!
The price was so good I couldn’t think about anything else… food was solid and the people were nice. This is not a fancy spot, but a place I would go every morning for breakfast when I’m able. It’s always packed!

1 star for fast seating and 1 star for speed of service. The food was ridiculously bland and everything tasted the same. Really sad how this place has slid on food quality.

Recommended. breakfast is solid, portions generous. Service attentive and it's a comfortable dining spot for lunch, as well.

Normally I like this restaurant. But this visit wasn't nice. I think the waitress was having a bad day. Also, the food was good at all.
Stopped here before we do back to st louis. It was a little wait outside. The food was not seasoned.I never put salt on my food but I definitely had to here on the the hasbrowns and eggs. The porkchops was seasoned well. I asked for onions and green peppers to put in my hashbrowns to help with flavor still didn't help and paid extra for still. Althogh it had no flavor its somewhere I'll go back because the variety was huge.
Dined here today. It is nothing like this Restaurant and its chain use to be. The waitress couldn’t het the order right, brought me the wrong food, someone else's food twice. Food came fairly quickly though. Yet it did not have the taste of what this Restaurant was known for in the past. I won't be back there anytime soon.
3 sides & 1 meat for $11. Customer service miss Carolyn gave me was Awesome. The outside and inside of the restaurant was clean. From walking up placing my order and receiving my food was less than 6 minutes!!! I personally didn't like the under cooked greens, and the okra stew wasn't cooked long enough. The tomato sauce taste like ketchup. Mac & cheese was soggy with no flavor My chicken fried chicken & Brown gravy was Delicious. Because the nice customer service I'll give the food one more try.
The chicken fried steak was rubbery. I also ordered a peach cobbler. The serving size was good but it just wasn’t that tasty. Honestly it was kinda watery. I didn’t like it. The delivery was quick and the food was still warm. I was hoping it was going to be better. Honest opinion….
No frills diner. The best thing about this place was the busboy. He was very friendly and made us feel at home. Our server, checked in on us once and seemed bothered when we asked for napkins. The food was ok but there wasn't anything special about it. Probably wouldn't come back next time we're in town.
1st time eating here. I know it's a popular place but it just wasn't for me. I had chicken and dressing, cole slaw, side salad. I halfed my plate with my mom, who ordered chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, side salad. The only thing worth noting was the chicken and dressing. Rolls were ok. CfS was really dry, box potatoes, and not much flavor in the cole slaw. Edible but not craveable.
Came in the other day for breakfast, we were seated quickly however once at our table every staff member we had did not greet us at all. Didn’t give us a “Hi my name is … I’ll be taking care of you.” Our waitress seemed as if she didn’t want to be taking our orders at all. The food came quickly and was hot. The biscuits and gravy were pretty good but this place is just a diner nothing stood out us at all.

What has happened to this restaurant? It used to be so good. We had a super curt waitress on top of i the food being tepid and not so great flavor-wise. I hope it's just this location that sucks
When you walk in, there's a sign "be nice or leave". I left. Texas has so many businesses that make you feel so welcome as a customer. No reason to leave your money at one that doesn't.
On my way to Fort Worth.decided to stop in here with high hopes after reading some reviews. It's been awhile since I stopped in a diner. Everything looked old and dated as I would expect. Felt cozy. The staff was friendly but seemed very overwhelmed with the amount of tables to take care of. My wife ordered biscuits and gravy with a side of hash browns and a cinnamon roll. She received all except the hashbrowns which we had to catch our waiter to remind her. I had a combo which contained eggs biscuits and gravy, hashbrowns and I chose a country fried steak. Everything was luke warm to cold. Wasn't alot of flavor. Honestly the best item I had was the biscuits. The biscuits are what you want to get from here. Solid. Everything else was just decent. It didn't help to have cold hashbrowns and cold eggs. As someone who has served tables I'm pretty sure my food sat in a serving window for awhile. For all those allergic to pecans note that the cinnamon roll has pecans in it. I'm glad my wife checks her food thoroughly before consuming because she would have had an anaphylactic reaction.
The waitress spilled her pitcher of water on my lap and served my table a bowl of gravy with hair in it. The club sandwich was really good though.

I came in with a group and was told the wait would be about 20 mins. We put our name down and waited. After 20 minutes we go inside to find out they gave our table away and now we have to wait 30 or 40 more minutes. Why even have a waiting list when your not going to use it, very unprofessional! We ended up just leaving.
