Ran into this hidden gem on a business trip from DC. Very good food and atmosphere!!! The owner (Terry) and the staff (all the bar staff including the sweet mama san!) there are so friendly and nice, they treat you like a family! Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a quality Japanese food for a reasonable price with friendly service from the staff and the owner!

O.M.Goodness! Sushi was delish. The fish pieces are really good size. The staff were really friendly. Just feels like you are somewhere far oversees enjoying fresh fish from the ocean straight to the table.

Stopped by before a concert because of the great reviews. Did not disappoint! The service was elite! Irene and C were on top of everything and gave us great recommendations for food and drinks. The owner, Harry, was very hospitable and was even helping make sushi! Top tier experience overall and will definitely be back the next time we’re in Dallas.

This is my absolute favorite sushi spot in the whole world. I will be sad to go to other sushi spots. The owner is absolutely magnificent. Truly one of the best people I know in Dallas. And the sushi has always been incredible. The best in this whole dang state. They also have amazing music. Also the atmosphere is perfect. I always laugh when I’m here because everyone that works here is a gem. I also get takeout from sushiya and it’s always fresh and delicious!

Our group dinner a few days ago was exceptional. The food and service were both top-notch, leaving everyone thoroughly impressed. Our new server was incredibly thoughtful, and as always, the owner’s cheerful and delightful presence made the evening truly special.

Everything about this place is what you want for a classic neighborhood sushi restaurant. The food is always fresh and delicious. The owner Terry and his team are always accommodating and friendly. If you’re looking for a personal sushi restaurant to make you feel at home, this is definitely the place.

I’m tripping. This is one of my favorite spots that have been in monthly rotation for a decade now. Not sure why I’ve never left a review for this place, when it’s the first place I refer to people visiting downtown. It’s located on Elm between Akard and Field, across the street from White Rhino Coffee and The National. The combo fried rice (beef, chicken, shrimp) with extra green onion is my personal favorite. So yum! Very generous portions. Other favorites include the sunrise roll, spider roll, gyoza, egg rolls and bento boxes. We usually order takeout, which usually takes about 15 minutes, the restaurant is quaint and cozy, and the staff is always welcoming and friendly. Definitely recommend for lunch and dinner. Please make sure you check their hours, as they close for a few hours between lunch and dinner. Enjoy!

Sushiya is an absolute gem. Featured is Grace’s Roll, delicious crispy rice topped with spicy tuna, avocado, jalapeño, and spicy mayo. The sushi at this place is made with love and you feel the warm but playful environment throughout, especially if you get to meet the owner: Terri. You are not only dining for the food, but for the experience! 10/10

I have been craving some good nigiri all week, and SushiYa turned out to have exactly what I wanted to satisfy my craving. The staff were absolutely lovely, they all made sure I had everything I needed and were very kind. I ordered the Tokyo Special dinner combo, and I am extremely pleased. The miso soup was very good (the tofu was just the right texture), the nigiri was fantastic, and the spicy tuna roll it came with was a nice treat! It was decorated with some pretty flowers that were probably also edible but I second guessed myself and left them on the plate. I would definitely recommend this for anyone craving some reasonably priced sushi!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5‑Star Review I eat lunch at Sushiya all the time, and they never disappoint. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and consistently awesome. Today was no different — everything was perfect. A special shout‑out to Neomi, who is hands‑down one of the best servers you’ll ever meet. She greets you with a beautiful smile, takes great care of you, and provides attentive, top‑tier service every single visit. She truly makes the experience even better. If you haven’t been to Sushi Ya yet, I highly recommend stopping by — and definitely ask for Neomi. You’ll be glad you did.

Great place to eat. Their menu is enormous and has a lot of options for everyone in your party. The staff and the owner are all very nice. I have been getting the bento 3 box lately and the fish katsu is the best out of the chicken katsu (also good) and teriyaki chicken (was quite dry but I only had it once). All the sides that come with the bento are great. I like the tempura shrimp. They also have some great udon noodles and ramen. My work colleagues and I have started going here for lunch at least once a week now.

Had such a great sushi and sashimi meal here one night while visiting Dallas that we returned one more time before heading back to the Pacific Northwest to enjoy another dining experience. Great food with generous proportions and at a very reasonable price for such quality. Really friendly service, too. I would absolutely return next time in Dallas.

A fantastic restaurant!!! Came across while visiting Dallas. The sushi & food is just outstanding, in highest of categories (white tuna, salmon, sashimi & nigiri, rolls … fried cheesecake,…). Terry is a joy, so much fun to talk with. The others working there are so friendly, and so much wonderful attention to details. At very top of best Japanese cuisine, and happens to also be very affordable. Cannot recommend more highly, a rare gem!!!

"This was my first visit to downtown Dallas, and I stumbled upon this restaurant by accident, but it turned out to be an amazing experience! The staff was so friendly, and the owner was exceptionally kind. The food was delicious and the portions were generous - I couldn't finish everything, but they were happy to pack up the leftovers for me. Thank you so much!"

This food was amazing. Nice little restaurant with top tier service and food. Had the egg rolls which I highly recommend as well as the Panic and Dragonfly roll. Nothing disappointed.

Haven’t been here in a few years, but still tastes great! Should come here since I literally live across the street, but they have an amazing choice of selections. I kept it cool this time around and only got shrimp shumai and cooked sushi rolls, but highly recommend their sashimi! Pro tip for drinkers: come in with an empty stomach and start off with a small beer (+shots if feeling extra) - food tastes 🔥

I arrived right at closing and the staff did not turn me away... Instead they invited me in and handed me a menu and were willing to stay open if I was dining in. I decided to take my meal to go. The chef did not mind making me the special roll I requested and everyone thanked me with a smile as I left. Thank for the wonderful customer service and amazing fried rice. Ill be back!

Had another great experience at Sushiya. This Japanese spot in downtown Dallas is a go-to lunch favorite. The bento box is super filling, a total steal for the price, and the pork tonkatsu is so crispy and delicious. Everyone there is friendly, providing top-notch service! Perfect spot for a quick, quality lunch break if you work nearby.

WOW! What a hidden gem! Everything was fresh and amazing. The service was quick, and the vibe was chill. The sushi is made fresh right in the center of the restaurant, and the happy hour drinks pair perfectly! Try the AT&T Edamame!!

Very friendly staff, great music all evening and the biggest portion of fried rice I've had in my life. Might be better to do some food sharing over here instead of ordering separate mails since the portions are really large! Will be coming back for more!

It was honestly the best sushi I've had in the states. Service was prompt and wonderful, and everything was perfect. My family just happened to stumble upon it on our Dallas trip and we felt so blessed! Definitely will revisit every time I come back to Dallas.

Sushiya was exactly was I was looking for after getting to town for a quiet weekend. My sushi maestro was Joel and he cut up with me the entire evening. I asked for a custom roll & he did not disappoint. The tuna tower was delectable and I was able to try Uni & The Toro Toro roll for the first time. I talked food with the manager and they were just a blast to eat and laugh with. I did go later in the evening as they were starting to wind down. The experience was really fun & personable along with some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. They messed with me about Nobu the entire meal and I thought that was the kicker. Wanted to say a direct and special thank you to the manager for taking the time to make my experience one to remember, especially dining solo before the rest of my party arrived. You guys ROCK!!! 🍣 🍱

We ordered the dragonfly roll, which I really enjoyed. The gyozas were also great. We got the spicy chicken soup, but by the time I wanted to take a picture, it was almost gone, so delicious! My stomach appreciated the lightness of the food. The place was very clean, and the staff were extremely friendly.

Nice freshly made rolls. I'd give them 5 stars if not for that awful nonstop 60s and 70s rock pop blasting away. How you'd like to hear McCartney and CCR for the 100th millionth time while trying to enjoy your meal?

Tried this for dinner one evening. While the staff was kind, they were clearly overwhelmed with the number of tables they were covering. We were forgotten for much of the meal, from getting our order in, to the fact that we never got drink refills. The food itself was great, but I would recommend waiting to go back when it's quieter or if they get more staff to cover it.
