Dana Point Harbor Dana Point Reviews
If you absolutely despise blindingly beautiful, the filmy golden hour light reflecting off hundreds of perfectly charming sailboats, this place is a disaster. The painfully calm, laid-back vibe is truly exhausting. Honestly, who wants to enjoy a peaceful life, and just stare at a serene coastline? 0/10 - won't stop coming back. The Views: Absolutely unbearable to look at, especially when the sunset hits the marina, and you wonder isn't this the VFX which Hollywood utilizes. The Vibe: Way too relaxing. You’ll be forced to witness peaceful nature and calm waters, which is totally unacceptable. The Boats: Too many stunning sailboats and palm trees. A real strain on the eyes because one just can't stop taking in the views. If you enjoy your life being too peaceful, scenic, and pleasant, definitely avoid this place. It’s just too perfect especially during sunset times.
Beautiful, clean, safe. Much too see and do in the beautiful city of Dana Point California. And the harbor with all the sea life and activity is second to none.
You can get in up to 5 miles distance around the entirety of the marina, Baby beach and to the jetty! Its one of my favorite places in Dana Point, and I exercise here 3-4 times a week. Great place to bring my puppy, as there are always lots of super friendly dogs to socialize with, and upon occasion seals to watch too! With the recent upgrades to the property, there are a ton of huge, new vessels here and every trip is a delight to the eye.
Personal take: I love starting the day with a harbor cruise spotting marine life, then grabbing lunch in the Lantern District. Afternoons are best spent surfing at Doheny or strolling the Headlands Trail. Evening is for sunset drinks by the marina or listening to music at the Ohana Festival. It’s refreshing, not overpoweringly touristy, and every day feels relaxed and rewarding. Quick pro tip: Go mid-week if you can, harbor parking is easier, beaches are quieter, and everything flows at that calming Dana Point pace. Bottom line: Dana Point is a SoCal gem, cozy coastal charm, unforgettable ocean adventures, and relaxed vibes without the crowds.
Such a great place to experience fresh air, ocean views, marine life, vessels and also enjoy local restaurants. The parking structure construction is underway and the restaurants and shops are all open during construction. We walked for about 4.2 miles and then decided to head to the Laguna Cliffs Marriott for an early dinner. Highly recommended
This is a beautiful harbor and gorgeous place along the California coast. I wish I had spent more time in Dana point. Gives me a reason to come back again for a little time away. Lots of people boarding and clean clear water. Lots of parking and nice park area to walk around and see the sights.
A wonderful spot, beach & Marina. Combine the three & you will get one spectacular place to spend a whole day at. Walking trails with lovely scenery of the ocean with all the sailing boats, kayaking & other water sports. Plenty of parking areas. Public restrooms available. Walking distance to many restaurants
A fun time hanging out for the events at the Whale Festival. As expected, parking was right, but they provided shuttle services to get you around. Enjoyed the behind the scenes tour of the Oceanic Institute.
Pros: 🌊 Enjoy beautiful coastal scenery and a variety of water activities : boat cruises around the harbor, kayaking, picnicking with the family, whale/dolphin watching, hiking along the many trails around the harbor, and see the tide pools 🌇📸🏄♂️🐋When the sun went down, the harbor is even more inviting and interesting. So many 'Instagram' moments. 🎄 The Christmas season offers dazzling lights and a charming atmosphere. 🐶 Dog-friendly environment; opportunity to interact with friendly people and adorable sea lions. 🍔 Abundance of restaurants and shops, providing ample dining and shopping options. Cons: 🅿️ Limited parking space with uncertain free parking availability. 🛍️ Inconsistent quality or satisfaction levels in shopping and dining experiences. 🦁 Some individuals might dislike the noise or smell from the sea lions. 🚗 Parking can be challenging to find, although tickets for events are not required in advance. ❓ Uncertainty about parking remaining free due to recent lease changes.
It's ok, but nothing special. Nearby Dana Point beaches and parks are all better, especially if you're planning to be mostly on foot. The single bridge available for crossing to the far side on the water, for example, is clearly prioritized for cars first. Another negative is that there is significant construction on-going here at the minute near the shops and parking at the entrance area.
