Grumpy Gary's at Dockers Dania Beach Reviews
Absolutely loved the atmosphere of this place. Great vibes and great music, somehow it reminded us of small town WI where we grew up. We felt right at home. The hand-breaded chicken tenders were so delicious, they cured my migraine. I had a crab cake sandwich and my husband had a beer cheese burger. Both were wonderful and flawlessly fulfilled our cravings. And for dessert, key lime pie - the best we've had in Florida. To top it off the server was friendly, and our meals were paced perfectly. The menu had so many great options, it was hard to decide so we'll have to come back sometime. Highly recommend this restaurant!!
We were walking the boardwalk and heard music and decided that's where we would eat... wonderful music from the 70s played live... so fun. We had a flavorful/great meal with wonderful service and fun service! I got the 1/2 lb shrimp and they are so big and flavorful. They come with a dip that is really wonderful and you can also get cocktail sauce. He ordered the Impossible Burger with fries and we got a side salad and he thought the "burger was awesome, the salad was great and the fries could have been warmer" :) Loved our waitress... fun and helpful with ordering! Thanks!! We really appreciate your friendly service! The live music was wonderful- had fun!
We went on a Tuesday, which is their lobster meal day. So good I love their butter, and we also got the lobster mac and cheese so good. The waitress was so kind to us to check to see if we need anything also made us feel so welcome. We love Gary grumpy can't wait to visit again. Thank you to Ms. Heather and Ms. Stacy. :)
If you need a stop to grab a bite and a drink away from the crowd by margarita ville this can work for you. Now this is a beach restaurant so they keep it simple and service might not be the fastest but prices are fair and food was ok. The chilli dog: questionable, the jalapeño poppers and coconut shrimp were great! Don’t get too creative with the drinks, better go with a beer. Nice little terrace if you wanna bring your bike in. 18% service is already added to all checks. Thanks to the bartender who took care of us even when she was pretty much by herself 🙏🏻
Great spot for good local seafood or a nice meal in general …..⭐️Hint !!!!! if you have a layover at the airport, you can literally Uber to grumpy Gary ‘s restaurant. It’s a five minute ride . Have a nice meal and pay half the prices you would pay in the airport. Nice bar with great drinks. You won’t be disappointed. I go here often and i to use Grumpys if i have a delay or just want to stop in for a meal before i fly out. Its an easy 5 min drive away from airport. Located right above the marina so that in itself is pretty cool. Cheers!! Fish dip is top notch !!! But all the food is very good you cant go wrong …. There’s a gas station right across the street so you can always put some gas in your rental car if you’re flying out.
I had such a great experience at Grumpy Gary’s at Dockers! I visited for lunch around 11:30 a.m. on a holiday weekday with a friend. The website suggested making reservations (which was super easy to do online), though at that hour they weren’t really necessary. By the time we left around 1:30, the place was definitely starting to fill up—so it’s smart to reserve ahead, especially during busy times. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with friendly smiles and great service. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and made us feel right at home, which really set the tone for a relaxing meal. The shrimp tacos were absolutely delicious—packed with flavor and perfectly seasoned. We also tried the blackened dolphin (mahi) filet, topped with a key lime tartar sauce that was tangy, refreshing, and the perfect complement to the fish. The setting couldn’t be better. It has that classic old Dania Beach vibe, sitting right on the water with views of boat slips and the Intracoastal. My friend mentioned that evenings are even more fun, with drink specials, live music, and karaoke nights adding to the laid-back, local charm. All in all, it’s the ideal waterfront spot for tasty food, great service, and a relaxed Florida atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back!
Food was delicious and reasonably priced! I went during my layover needed something delicious quick and filling! And that it was! Waitresses was super welcoming too! I ordered the appetizer sampler, the soup of the day was lobster bisque and I got the greek salad. My sister had a chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and the bang bang shrimp. All meals were well proportioned and filling!
Fantastic food and our server, Suzanne, made it fun as well! Ordered hubcap seafood tacos (one each of blackened shrimp, grouper & mahi tacos). We split a grouper reuben with fries, which were delicious. Second time here and will be back. Wish they were closer to home!
If you want a place that you feel like family, the food is outstanding, and on the right night you can be entertained…..here it is! The Asian Salmon was great! The Louisiana Shrimp were full of flavors and the band (Clay Goldstein’s Muddy Monarchs) were fun to watch and listen to!
Absolutely loved our experience! Liz, our server, was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and full of great recommendations that made our meal even better. The ambiance is upbeat and lively, perfect for a fun night out. Conveniently located near several hotels, it’s easy to get to whether you’re local or just visiting. One highlight that deserves a special mention: the blue cheese salad dressing. Incredible doesn’t even begin to describe it—don’t skip it!
The food was a 10 out of 10 would go back again. The night was busy and it took a minute for someone to get to us but service was great outside of the delay. The vibe was fun, Caribbean and high energy.
Great food and service. Couple we were with had never tried fish tacos, so we ordered grouper, mahi & shrimp tacos. All 3 were the best I've ever had. Our friends loved them, too. Soft pretzel with cheese & mustard were off the hook! We all ordered different entrees: grouper reuben, mahi sandwich with truffle fries, cheeseburger with onion rings and mahi dinner with salsa. Nothing disappointed! Lory, our server, made the meal even more special!
The wait staff was excellent, accurate and speedy. The atmosphere was fun and the owner was making rounds making sure everyone was happy and the food was good. You can tell he cared about the customer experience above all and went out of his way to ensure everything was perfect. I'd definitely go back!
The service was spectacular! Thank you Renee for the attentiveness you gave my mom and I, would come back again just for your service. The vibe with live music was awesome too. Had a fantastic time with the volume not being super loud like some places have. I enjoyed the docks outside by the window seating area too. The yachts were gorgeous. My burger was massive and I could honestly only eat half! The fries weren’t as crispy as I’d like but I never asked for crispy fries so it’s not on you.
I don’t get the negative reviews, we had a great experience. Our server Liz was simply amazing throughout our dinner experience. Liz was attentive, friendly and efficient. The photos are of our unforgettable appetizers! Our entrees were fish and chips were delish and that house made tartar sauce, the best we’ve ever had. Drinks were made perfectly! We have nothing bad to say about this restaurant. If in the area, support those who are local. <3
Recommended close to our hotel it was so fun and good that we went back a second time. Our server Damien was energetic and helpful, especially when one order didn’t turn out well- he was able to facilitate a replacement quickly. The drinks are good and the prices very reasonable.

Awesome food and service from Stacey at the bar. Seriously You need to check in dis place has the most Awesome vibe. Stacy is a real professional service lady. HEY MON - Your tongue gonna slap your brains out !
I always stop Grumpy Gary's whenever I find myself passing thru Dania Breach. This last time I enjoyed a really delicious crab cake sandwich at the bar. The service, the atmosphere, the people and the food are always awesome.
There is nothing grumpy about Gary or this restaurant or his staff. The restaurant itself is a little on the dark side which scared me off at first. But my boyfriend Nico and i have been going there regularly for about a year and it’s quickly turned into our favorite spot. Gary is great, they have some great bands and our normal sever Happy Judy is a great server.
An area staple. The third Friday of the month has live music from a great oldies rock band - Bootleg. They are fantastic and fun!! It does get loud inside. I recommend sitting in the back if you’re looking to chat with your dinner mates. The food is ok. The price point is high for the quality. Other similarly priced restaurants nearby serve more refined fares. The seared tuna salad would have been better with a higher quality dressing. The rock shrimp were undercooked. It was very mediocre. Conversely, the drinks were excellent. It was an interesting experience. Only go if you’re looking for live music.
Nice place to hit before or after the beach, good beach food (the Mac and cheese and pulled pork were bangin!), and good music. The service is awesome. Prices are fair on the food. One star off because the drinks were on the light side…just a little more please and you get the 5 stars.
Nice little bar and restaurant. The fish was super fresh. Good entertainment. We went on a Thursday night so it wasn’t too crowded. But there was a lively bunch of people there celebrating a birthday.
Visited here on the way back to the airport from a work trip, I wanted something local and non-fast foody for lunch, so I saw this place while pumping gas and thought I'd give it a try. It was a Thursday so it wasn't busy inside, and they had the a/c nice and cool which was a plus. The waitress Liz was very friendly and attentive. I had the peel and eat shrimp, and a Mahi sandwich called "The Dolphin". Both were very tasty. Honestly I was expecting the shrimp to be cold over ice with tartar and cocktail sauce, but this was served hot with butter dipping sauce. Either way it was good, just would have preferred the cold option. The sandwich was delicious, very fresh and satisfying. Tater tots were on point! Not too crunchy, not soggy, well seasoned. It was a great lunch, glad I stopped in to check it out. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because 5 is reserved for the finest of fine dining...this is more of a dockside pub, but that isn't to say I was disappointed in any way. Definitely will do it again next time I'm in Dania Beach.
This place was recommended to me by a local, he said the chicken tenders were really good and I have to agree! I thought the food was delicious, and the server was really friendly. The table was a little dirty when I sat down and I was given some dirty silverware and a check book that had crusted food all over it, so there were definitely areas that could be improved, but it was a decent meal all the same.
First ever meal in Florida, and I think I ate the best burger I've ever had. The grumpy Gary's special? Gary might be grumpy, but oh WOW am I happy. Josie, our wonderful waitress, was both attentive and sweet. Wish I could've tipped her 110%. Coming from Canada, I thought the food couldn't be that different but I was so wonderfully wrong. For 17USD, I ate like an animal. I finally realize why Americans have such high levels of heart disease. What a dangerous place to be... It was so good I almost ate the metal basket the tators came in. Only thing to say is that the back of the restaurant has a weird odor of poo. It smells fishy just because of the marina but this was different. Hope the smell doesn't linger.
All indoor seating. One room is asking a canal and has a band Saturday evenings starting about 6:30 pm. There is another room but attached. We left before the band started so can't say how the sound would be. Wait staff was attentive and helpful. Went for the Grouper Reuben although I prefer it with cole slaw. It was quite good (although for the best, go to Monahan's in South County, RI). Be aware that they include the tip in the bill.
We spent the weekend in Hollywood and decided to grab lunch before heading back across the state. No one could decide so when we saw Grumpy Gary’s we decided to stop and try it out. It sit beside the boat docks so there were plenty of boats for our little grandson to see. We got there not too long after opening so we were the second to be seated and got a nice corner table. We ordered potato skins for an appetizer and they came out very quickly. We all enjoyed one and they were good! A couple of us ordered the grumpy Gary burger and I have to say that it was a really great burger! It had two onion rings on top of the cheese and I got the Horsy sauce on the side but really liked it and dipped every bit in it! The tater tots were crispy on the outside and great inside! Live music starts at noon but she was a little later that day so we only heard a small amount. Our server was great and attentive and kept our cups filled! The floor was pretty dirty for just being opened and our highchair had not been cleaned really well but out food came out hot and was good!
A fun local place, live music (kind of karaoke style) great waitress and overall a good time

Staying a night in Dania Beach and decided to check this place out for the first time. I wqs only ordering to-go for dinner and was told to swing by the bar. The regular dining area or place was so empty, only the bar was lively. There was louvre music which was cool, but the bartender who took the my offer was rather pushy and did not provide me a menu. Luckily, I looked it up before coming. The prices for the food are rather a bit overpriced. I’d suggest 3 Sons Brewing or The Fish Grill for better food and the price. I think you’ll really paying for the being in front of the dock and river.

I wish “Grumpy” only described the name of the establishment. I sat at the bar during a “busier”stretch, not completely packed, but clearly a bit understaffed. I ordered the buffalo shrimp appetizer and the Grumpy Burger (to go) at the same time. The shrimp came out in a reasonable window. They were a nice size, but overall the dish was just okay and a little underwhelming flavor-wise. Well, it ended up being over an hour from the time I received the appetizer before the burger was ready. That kind of delay, especially for a burger is tough to overlook. And to be honest, the burger itself was extremely underwhelming. Nothing about it stood out, especially after that kind of wait. And the tomato? If that’s all you have, just skip it. The bartender seemed overwhelmed and didn’t really acknowledge the delay. I don’t believe it was her fault; this felt more like a back-of-house execution issue. Still, some communication would have gone a long way. If you’re staying at the Comfort Inn next door and hoping to grab something quick at the bar, I wouldn’t recommend it unless you have a few hours to burn. With better timing and coordination, this place could be solid, with a fun atmosphere…But based on this visit, the experience didn’t match expectations.
Bathroom needs a DEEP professional cleaning. From dust, to gross urinal to dirty in the corners of the floor, just felt gross. Went in right after ordering drinks and started praying they cleaned the kitchen more often than the bathroom. Had the smash burger was decent, Mac and cheese as well. Service was very slow, I’d suggest remove the mandatory 18% servers might be more incentivized to give a good service. Crazy slow
Genuinely the worst customer service I have ever received. They took grumpy too literal. Arrived at 2:45 and were not told of the happy hour ending at 3. Website said there was $10 build your own burgers from 3-6, and when we told the super blonde lady at the bar (the manager) she raised her voice at us for their website being incorrect. Talked down to us several times before as well. We left immediately without ordering anything and walked down the road (only a 4 minute walk) to 3 sons brewery. These people are super sweet and their carnitas al pastor tacos are sooo good! Highly recommend going to them instead!
Visiting from out of town. Came on a Sunday which we know they had brunch, but could not order from the regular menu at all. Waitress wrote down our order, but still didn't get the correct sides we ordered. If you're thinking of the breakfast burrito just know the salsa is on top of the tortilla shell, and also know that it's a green tortilla shell not white/flour. If you're ordering the biscuit with sausage gravy it will come with eggs on top of the biscuits and if you don't tell them or they don't ask you it will be over easy eggs. The vibe of this establishment was off. It's definitely a local place with local customers, but not welcoming in for tourist. Don't waste your time. They also added an 18% service charge for it being "off season"
DUMPY's at Dockers , terrible experience! Ordered a margarita with not too much ice,got ice!!! Really wasn't tasty!Save your money you can maje at home better.Had the Mahi dinner not the best cooked or flavorful, sides was a Caesar salad+ green beans. Green beans were canned +sprinkled with something probably grated cheese ,looked grey looking+ sent them back!!! Caesar salad was iceberg lettuce cheese had to have been left out or just OLD,better to get a to go at Pubix! Save your money bar flies don't know good cooking. RATE DUMPY's as the WORST RESTAURANT in FL. And I used to live here. Pick another restaurant and BE HAPPY ON YOUR VACATION! DEFINITELY NOT WORTH OPENING THE DOOR.
We arrived shortly after they opened. Upon entering, the place immediately smelled like a dirty bathroom. Speaking of bathrooms, they smelled strongly of urine, were dirty, and were extremely warm inside—which I assume is why the whole place smelled like urine, likely due to whatever urine-fermentation was happening in there. The menu listed the biscuits and gravy as “biscuits and sausage gravy,” but what we received was not what we expected. It was a biscuit with a sausage patty and an over-easy egg on top, which was not described in the menu. When we questioned it, the waitress seemed somewhat standoffish. The French toast was undercooked. No refills were offered. The check took an unusually long time to arrive despite the lack of customers. 18% gratuity was automatically added to the check Thanksgiving-April. Not very impressed
Terrible food! My first bite was fried rotten potato. I had to vomit after and couldn’t get the taste out of my mouth. The skirt steak was tasteless. Hard to chew, cutting was almost impossible. Overall experience was some of the worst food I’ve ever had in south Florida. Not to mention the restaurant was filthy. Never coming back :(
I would have given 0 stars if I could. I would have no idea how the food is because after being seated and having our order ( a couple of burgers....nothing complicated) taken we sat there for over an hour and a half while other parties were seated and SERVED all around us. While they were moderately busy, that is really no excuse. We flagged the waitress, asked about our order 3 times...each time she said she'd check on the order and get it right out to us. When we finally got up to leave they seemed shocked that we would want to leave! It was now late, we ubered back to our hotel, got a hot pocket from the hotel snack shop and went to bed!
Place was almost empty when we arrived which makes sense. The onion rings were so greasy we couldnt eat them. I could have made the fish and chips at home and it would have been way better. Im not sure if they were having a bad day or if they are just bad in general. Also, 18% tip for the service we got is a joke. Save your money and don't go.
Disgusting !! The wings were like rocks, they used old oil and the tenders were black. The poor lady at the bar told us she was the only help and she looked very unhappy. This place won’t make it. Keep away
On February 15, 2026 around 12:20 pm we ordered a Ceasars salad with blackend grouper and a fried grouper dinner. The blackend grouper was not cooked completely and sent it back. The waitress took the order back and came literally 5 minutes later with same under cooked blackend grouper. Also, the fried grouper was under cooked and waitress was extremely nonchalant. If I had exact change for the drink I ordered I would not have left a tip.
