CJ Blacks Restaurant & Bar Davie Reviews
I usually write my reviews two or three hours after visiting a restaurant—that’s just my habit. But this time, I wanted to do it right after leaving, because I truly wanted to express my complete satisfaction. Not just with the place itself, and not only with the service, but with a spectacular combination of everything. I’m genuinely happy and very pleased with the experience. What makes it even better is that it was pure coincidence—we walked in without checking reviews or recommendations beforehand. Our server, Taraja, was excellent: attentive, professional, and spot-on with her service. We ordered the Power Bowl with NY Strip, an absolutely outstanding burger, a French onion soup that is—without exaggeration—the best in the region, and we finished with a sensually delicious dessert: the Molten Lava Cake. For me, this place is a solid 5 stars, always. The atmosphere was calm and pleasant—at least when I visited—and they have two bars for drinks. I can imagine the vibe changes at night, so I’ll definitely be back to experience that, but this visit exceeded my expectations. I’m leaving happy and very well taken care of. Without a doubt, a place worth returning to.
This place was absolutely amazing!! I ordered the dancing shrimp roll and it was incredible. Our server was Anna and she did an amazing job at being attentive and providing us with the best experience possible. They have a long wait time so plan ahead or call 30 minutes before getting there and they will add you to the waitlist. When they play live music the place gets a little loud but it’s not uncomfortable. Will definitely coming back here to try some other dishes!
This is one is a Hidden GEM for those who are not in the area. My go-to spot for Happy Hour, Burgers 🍔, and Sushi 🍣 (You read that right!). They took the best dishes of different restaurants and perfected it under one roof. Try the FARM BURGER, you'll remember reading this post after you try it! 💯 They have live music, a great atmosphere, and amazing drinks. Try to make it for Happy Hour or Ladies night! They also throw plenty of special events so stay in touch with this place. St. PATRICKS DAY is a staple here!
My family and I went to lunch for our grandma’s birthday and had a blast. The food was delicious and a great portion with plenty to take home. Jennifer was our server and made our experience above and beyond our expectations. She made our lunch extra special and had us all cracking up. We will definitely be back. Thank you Jennifer for a wonderful lunch. Papa loves you lol.
My hotel bartender recommended this place, great choice. The restaurant was very busy, even for a Wednesday night. Service was great once we were sat. Had a few old fashions, then started with the pretzel. Underestimated the size lol, was fantastic though. Ordered the French onion soup, was good but could have been cooked longer I feel. Had the 16 oz NY strip. Very good and Had a good char taste. Perfectly cooked with a side of loaded smashed potatoes and sautéed broccoli. Overall, I'd come back, good food and good Service.
Absolutely awesome place. Great service. Quick and good quality food. Loooooved the Brussels sprouts and the spinach dip.
Loved loved LOVED the atmosphere of the place. The wait for the food wasn’t long at all and our server, Ruth, was super sweet with my younger siblings. She was quick to refill and remove stuff from our table and she was consistent when checking up on us. The potato wedges are divine- the cheese was super stretchy- literally the perfect appetizer. I will say the dinner portions are HUGE, but you’re definitely getting your money’s worth. The decore and lightning definitely give a cozy-homey atmosphere and I’m sure it’s even prettier during the holiday season. Watching the FLA Panthers v. Oilers hockey final was the cherry on top. I look forward to eating there again.
We were in the mood for some good BBQ ribs before going to a Pumpkin Patch farm/nursery to celebrate autumn and the beautiful Fall day outside yesterday. I checked Yelp and we decided on CJ Black's. Soon as we walked in, we knew we came to the right place because we could smell those good flavors cooking! I loved the country style decor with the wooden cabinets and shelving, country tables and booths, the hanging lantern lamps, the wooden flooring, and the industrial style open ceiling! I really felt like I was in for good Southern style cooking! We were really looking forward to our dinner! Our server was Michael, who was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. He confirmed their Ribs were awesome. We both ordered the same thing, ribs! Oh my goodness, they were the best I've tasted in a long time!! The BBQ sauce was amazing and there was plenty of it. The pork just melted off the bones! Each bite was accompanied by an "mmm" from both of us. The fries were crispy but soft in the middle, so good. Our meal was perfection. The Chef served us and was so much fun to chat with! Michael checked on us several times. Michael asked if we wanted dessert and mentioned how good their choc chip cookie was with vanilla Gelato, so we gave in to temptation and shared it. It was very good. We hadn't eaten since breakfast. We wouldn't need anything else after the ribs the rest of the night. We can't wait to return! Parking is outside the restaurant and is free. Handicap parking is right in front.
This place has great energy and style. At first I thought it would be overpriced and then I got the enormous serving of Chicken Parmesan, and the ice cream cookie, and understood. I couldn't finish, and I was sharing with my kid. I thought the flavors were average (except the cookie was awesome). Service was slow for the place being half empty, but I will definitely return. Wish I had found this place sooner.
AMAZING EXPERIENCE! Wow! Loved the food, vibe, and sweet, fun, friendly service courtesy of Karli. It started with the MOTHER of all pretzels lol, a 1.5 pound behemoth served up hot and tasty! Then there's a sushi bar where we actually sat and ate since there was a long wait for a table and it was next to a duet playing called The Shindig! Very groovy name lol although the music was a nice mix of throwbacks and contemporary! Definitely added to the dining experience. The Tuna Nigiri melted in my mouth, as did the Shrimp Shumai. We also had Blackened Snapper and the In & Out burger, which were both tasty. When you sot at the Sushi Bar, you can see everything coming out of the kitchen and it looks great, portions are HUGE, and menu prices are a great value given the food quality and portion sizes. There may be a waitlist, so plan accordingly or search for bar/sushi bar seating. Highly recommend!!
A really fun place with consistently great food. The sushi is amazing, but so are the steaks. They really have something for everyone. It's family owned and family run, so there is a high level of care and pride here. Can't miss!
Atmosphere was the best, and the service fits right in with the ambiance. We waited about 5 minutes to be seated in the outside patio. Very chill and relaxing, the barista knows what they are doing. The old-fashioned cocktails were 👌🏻 and the food did not disappoint, everything tasted good. We had a bison burger, the animal bowl and the chicken and waffles. Sure was tasty, would recommend to anyone!
I was invited by my coworkers one day to come to CJ Blacks months ago and I’ve been loving it ever since, truly a wonderful discovery. The look, the atmosphere, the service and especially the food is all amazing. The first time I came I assumed it was a chain because of how crisp everything is from the building to the menu, you definitely don’t get a mom and pop vibe at all, but it is family owned and that makes this place even that much more fascinating. The menu is so extensive, so many choices and they make they have a legit sushi bar. The bar has a speak easy vibe and the drink selections are vast. The service has always been attentive and friendly. I can’t say anything negative about this place. If you have not been, you need to go.
If you're in David, Florida, and looking for a top-notch lodge bar and restaurant with fantastic entertainment, look no further than CJ Blacks. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with warm hospitality and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The staff, led by Dave, Dylan, and the rest of the team, go above and beyond to ensure that every guest has a memorable experience. Whether it's recommending the perfect dish or simply offering a friendly smile, their attention to detail is truly commendable. A special mention goes to the owner, Chris, whose dedication to making guests feel welcome is evident in every aspect of CJ Blacks. His personal touch, like saying hi and recommending the signature SIA Scotch with a coffee back, adds an extra layer of charm to the experience. And let's talk about the cuisine – it's exceptional. From traditional favorites to innovative dishes, there's something for everyone on the menu. Plus, the addition of a sushi chef elevates the dining experience to new heights, ensuring that every bite is a delight. After indulging in a delicious meal, don't forget to save room for dessert. The key lime pie is a must-try, perfectly balancing sweetness and tanginess for a truly unforgettable finish to your meal. Overall, CJ Blacks is more than just a restaurant – it's an experience. With its amazing staff, exceptional cuisine, and welcoming atmosphere, it's no wonder this place comes highly recommended. Whether you're a local or just passing through, be sure to stop by CJ Blacks for an unforgettable dining experience.
Very cool place! Our server Sharon was helpful and quick. We had the pretzel, which was awesome, and the spinach queso, which was okay. I ordered the filet sliders and was not impressed. They were not very flavorful and I had several pieces of fat or gristle, which you wouldn't find in filet. Every one else had burgers and chicken sandwiches and were very happy with their food.
The food is always solid and the place is always busy. Service can be slow at times. They have 2 full bars and a sushi bar. I don't care for the sushi here, but many do. My friend and I ordered from the daily specials. My chicken was a baked chicken with Asiago cheese on top, rice that had a French onion soup mixed in with it, and sautéed garlic spinach. It was more of a comfort meal and rich in flavor. My friend had the salad with steak. He asked for medium, but I found the steak to be more medium rare (the way I like my steak). He seemed okay with it. Drinks are always fabulous. For his second Old Fashion, he ordered the Templeton 10-year-old whiskey and he said it was so much better than the Firat Old Fashion. I'd hope so with the $27 price. 😊
Went in for lunch on a Thursday with a party of 7, food was really great, cooked as we requested and the service was awesome. Portions were big and everything our server recommended was spot on. I can't think of anything they could have done better. Will definitely be eating there again! Very happy we tried it out😊 Updated Review: we recently had a birthday dinner with a party of 15, Carly was a gem, so attentive and sweet, food came out quickly and and excellent, we had a wonderful 70th dinner for my dad. Thank you to Melissa for helping accommodate us!!!
Had a very good first visit. The place was super busy for a Monday night, but there was plenty of parking and we were seated quickly. The food was outstanding as was the service. The pretzel appetizer could feed an army it’s so big, but it is outstanding. I had a California Roll and the Brooklyn Eggplant sandwich. My wife had the baby back ribs. We took a lot of the food home. Huge portions and also a tremendous beer selection . We will be back.
We went a second time for early dinner. We were just as satisfied the second time as the first! This will be our new "go to" regular restaurant for lunch or dinner. It will likely be crowded on weekends and holidays but you can call in 30 min in advance to reserve a table.
Went for a bite after my restaurant job with my girlfriend and everything was outstanding. Even being packed and live music going barely a wait time. Karlina is an exceptional server with amazing energy and great service skills and was always present even though she had tables outside of her section. The food was very good and although a bit more pricey than average 100% worth it. We will definitely be back soon. Thank you for your service
Someone recommended it, and we tried it out for the first time. The food was great, and everything we ordered tasted great. However, our server, Sharon, was exceptional and saved our night. They had live music playing Friday night, and it was a bit too loud for our young daughter. Sharon went out of her way to try to make our daughter as comfortable as possible and tried to move our table and/or distract her from the noise. Fortunately, it didn't last very long. She was also very knowledgeable about the menu items and gave us great recommendations. Would definitely go back. The food and service were a 10 out of 10.
I love this restaurant I eat here a lot. The cuisine is fantastic.
I can't believe that it took me more than 6 years to try this place. I had heard so many great things and today I FINALLY ate here. I am kicking myself for waiting so long. I had the French Dip which was absolutely perfect and my friend had the blackened grouper sandwich. She couldn't stop telling me how great it was. Our server was also excellent and really took the time to describe all of the different items on the menu. I don't remember her name but she told us that she has worked there for almost 6 years and I love what that says about how well they must treat their staff. I will DEFINIELY be back soon!
Incredible Service from Anna at CJ Black’s! From the moment we sat down, Anna made our dining experience truly exceptional. She greeted us with a warm, genuine smile and instantly made us feel welcome. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive—she offered spot-on recommendations and even gave us the inside scoop on a few of her personal favorites, which turned out to be absolutely delicious! What really stood out was her attentiveness. Anna struck the perfect balance between being present without hovering, and somehow managed to anticipate our needs before we even voiced them. She was friendly, professional, and had this effortless charm that made the entire evening feel special. If you’re dining at CJ Black’s, ask for Anna—you won’t regret it. She’s the kind of server that turns a good meal into a memorable experience. We’ll definitely be back, and she’s a big reason why!
Anna my love you made our night. We got seated and was welcomed by the sweetest server her name is Anna. She was warm and patient and before we even ordered she got me excited because she said "everything here is amazing chef's kiss" and when we got our meals I can confidently say she was not lying. The food was amazing, so good I forgot to take pictures but I get dessert pics. I will be back and I will be asking for Anna
One of the best in the area. Great food and environment. They are always reliable. Our server Anna was amazing.
First time here. Nice place; the appetizer I had was delicious, fried calamari. The Yuengling was cold and fresh.
First visit here. Very busy happening place to be on the weekend. We called ahead and still waited about 15 minutes for a table. Ordered Calamari and it was perfectly fried very light breading and was tender. We burgers and they were awesome also ordered Sushi rolls everything was great. When it's busy on the weekend it can be rather loud inside.
Came back on a Sunday after to try their ribs... Fantastic Had their burger before and was also good. So I would recommend either and you can't go wrong. But the surprise was the appetizer ordered... That Fish Dip! Sound simple but the delight came with the complements...wow. Try it and see for yourself. But it didn't ended there. To add to the enjoyment, that Sunday afternoon they had a pair of great musicians playing accustics, playing our songs from the 70's - 90's. All in all a great time. Will certainly be back for more.
You have to go see it! It’s very unique. We eat here three times a week lunch or dinner. EAT THE SUSHI 🍣 ITS AMAZING!
My first time at CJ Blacks and I must say I'm impressed. Starting off with the decor, the aesthetics is very pleasing and friendly as you enter, has a casual wood grill look. I started off with a pretzel, which was cooked to perfection, but I didn't know it was the size of a medium pizza. This thing was so big they serve it to you in a to-go box because they know you won't finish it lol (snack for later lol). So once I almost filled my stomach with a delicious pretzel, then came my sandwich. I ordered the Mona Lisa I believe it was called, which is a breaded chicken with roasted red peppers, mozzarella cheese, arugula and balsamic vinegar on a toasted chibatta bun. This thing was perfectly cooked and the flavors worked together perfectly! Top 5 favorite list for sandwiches now. To finish it all off we ordered a devil's food cheesecake and it was towering across the plate and topped off a perfect lunch by helping put me into a food coma lol. I will definitely be coming back!
We visited CJ Black's on Mother's Day, so it was understandably packed. We anticipated a bit of a wait for seating and service, which was indeed a little slower than usual, but entirely expected given the busy holiday. What truly impressed us was that despite the full house, the food arrived hot, incredibly flavorful, and in generous portions. We actually had enough leftovers to enjoy a whole other meal at home the next day! Every dish we ordered was delicious, but the standout was definitely one of their specials: the taco flatbread. It was absolutely packed with flavor and offered a unique and delicious twist on traditional tacos. We will be back to explore the rest of the menu!
The place is better then Cheers and the food is GREAT. The Owner and the bar staff are absolutely polite and friendly. Great crowd. Everyone is having fun for sure. The Drinks are strong and generous. Live bands on some occasions. My girlfriend goes so often, I think they have a special plaque for her. Love you guys
Anna took such great care of us! She was friendly, attentive, and had the kindest smile the whole time. The food was, as always, amazing fresh, delicious, and consistently great every time we come. It’s one of those places you can always count on for good vibes and even better food!
A Beautiful Place for a Beautiful Celebration 💜 September 4th, about 60 family members and friends gathered at CJ Black’s on the patio for a Celebration of Life in honor of a very special lady. From the moment I first called to make a reservation, to the moment we left, every person we encountered was kind, supportive, and genuinely caring. I want to share why I chose this restaurant. Back in May, we were here for another Celebration of Life for a dear friend. I was so impressed by how smoothly everything went—serving a large group of around 50 with grace, efficiency, and warmth. Our waitress that evening, Ana, stood out immediately. She made us feel special, remembered every drink order, and moved with such care and professionalism. I knew I needed Ana there for my Celebration Party And once again, Ana did not disappoint. Along with Kevin, the two of them made the evening truly seamless. Their attention to detail, kindness, and calm presence meant so much to all of us. They weren’t just serving us—they were part of the celebration. A heartfelt thank you to the whole team at CJ Black’s: • 💜 Alana, the owner – thank you for welcoming us with such warmth. • 💜 Melissa, who helped coordinate our reservations – your support made planning this so much easier. • 💜 And of course, Ana and Kevin – not just our waitress and waiter, but a true part of our evening. It was an honor to have you with us. … And yes, the food and drinks were absolutely delicious as always! Try Kevin’s Blueberry Muffin Shots!!
This is our standby restaurant and bar. We love the quality food, fun live music, and friendly patrons. Regarding the food/drink, there is a variety of choices from sushi to steak. Everything has been flavorful and cooked perfectly. The servers are attentive and affable. There is a large selection of whiskeys. On the weekends, the bar area is filled with regulars that are all social and welcoming. In the evening, they have live acoustic style bands that perform until about 10 or 11pm.
Service, food, service AND SERVICE! Not only were the cocktails and food great, but the service by Brandon, our waiter was just genuinely top notch. Took the time to make recommendations and ensure our party was OK from sit down time to check out. It was our first time here and definitely not our last! For starters, the lobster Mac & cheese are a most, but the fried calamari are hard to pass on. Cocktails, the old Fashions "thumbs up" Ribs? If you're in the mood and have room for a main course, the baby back ribs are delish!
This is a nice mix-up of different types of foods in one restaurant. The food was pretty incredible and the portions are really good...especially the pretzel starter, it's freaking great and huge! I had a filet cooked medium rare, and it was super tasty and big...one of the sides I had was asparagus, steamed....which was very good. Only two minor gripes...my meal could have been warmer, and the booth padding is kind of thin...so it made it rough to sit on after a bit for me. The parking is pretty good with a bunch of handicapped spots out front of the entrance. This location is separate from the main strip mall...so if you follow Google maps to this location look out towards State Rd. 84. Be safe all.
So, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the wonderful experience at CJ Black's. You and your team, especially Anna, our attentive waitress, and Billy, the manager, took exceptional care of us. We thoroughly enjoyed our time—it was truly a blessing. Thank you once again for such a memorable visit. Can’t wait to come back with our family for amazing service and time. 🙏🙏
LOVED IT! Party of 12! Food was great! Our server, Michael, was very nice-great personality-handled the group well. I had the Japanese Meatloaf it was delicious! Little disappointed because the band wasn't performing but we had an awesome time!
CJ Blacks did an absolutely amazing job helping me host my last-minute baby shower! They helped me pull everything together in less than two weeks, and it turned out perfect. One of the servers, Jen, actually recommended the place when I was there for brunch a couple of weeks ago, and I’m so glad she did! Becca went above and beyond — from her adorable ideas and drink options to making everything look so cute and pretty. The food was, as always, absolutely delicious. If you’re looking for the perfect spot to host a small event or celebration, I can’t recommend CJ Blacks enough!!
Have been coming here for several years now. We aren't in this specific area much, however, when we come here we always know that that food & service are going to be excellent. BE WARNED- portions are not small! The food is excellent and always have take some home. Honestly, each time we come here I order something different- just because they have some many options. And they never disappoint. If you haven't been here yet- put it on your list!
Great food, great atmosphere with live music and AMAZING service by Anna who gave the perfect recommendations. We tried various options such as the sushi (Mama Mia and the Dragon -WOW) along with the California club and spinach dip! The brownie sundae was delish and the drinks were perfectly made (CJ Margarita and old fashion- Bullet Bourbon). We will definitely be going back!
Not just for great old fashioned’s. The food is amazing. The menus is great and the service is excellent. A hometown place with a five star flavor. Love going here
Anna the waitress was AMAZING!!! The food was delicious, but what really made the difference was our server. She was incredibly attentive and detail-oriented, always making sure we had everything we needed without us even having to ask. She was also very kind and welcoming, and her sense of humor made the whole evening even more enjoyable. I would definitely come back not only for the food but also for the outstanding service. Anna hope you remember us! We are the dental team you helped last night!
Really cool hidden gem! Driving up you wouldn’t expect a strip mall beside a high way would have thing to stop in for but this place really surprised me. Food comes out fresh and delicious. I recommend the fish and chips or the bison burger. A cozy tavern type atmosphere with a cool little bar in the back. The staff are funny, helpful and a pleasure to talk with. Can’t wait to go back and try something else. I’m very confident that whatever I get will be a delight.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ CJ Blacks Restaurant & Bar is a fantastic spot! The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, and the live music added the perfect touch to the overall experience. It’s the kind of place where you can truly unwind and enjoy yourself. A special shoutout to Anna, who made our visit even better. She was incredibly helpful, sweet, and attentive, always making sure we had everything we needed with a genuine smile. Her service truly stood out and made us feel well taken care of. Highly recommend CJ Blacks for great food, great vibes, and outstanding service!
Holiday Cheers at a Local Favorite 🎄🍻 First, happy holidays! CJ Blacks is one of my favorite local spots in Broward County, and for good reason. Born and raised here, I love coming in and running into people I grew up with or meeting new faces who instantly feel like friends. There’s always great conversation, plenty of laughs, and that easy, welcoming vibe that keeps you coming back. The live music is usually fantastic. Tonight was a bit of an off night, but every place gets a pass now and then. Fridays are typically packed, though it was a little quieter than usual. That’s probably due to all the holiday parties and kids being out of school. The food is always amazing. The service truly shines too. Our bartenders, Brandon and Ritchie, were absolutely fabulous. Top notch all around. Even the owner, Christian, stopped by to chat with guests, which made the night feel extra special. I highly recommend this restaurant and bar to everyone. Just make sure you save me a bar seat when I walk in. If not, stay away. Just kidding 😉
muy buen lugar, muy buena comida y muy buena atención 👌... regresaré
Lindo lugar!! 🤩👌 buen ambiente con música en vivo 😊👍
Excelente place, recomiendo 100% Excelente atención, excelente precio, excelente todooooo
Nos encantó el ambiente, la comida, el servicio y la música en vivo 👏👋🙋♀️🙏🍷🍷🍱
Delicioso, muy buena atencion, mis favoritos son sushi volcano , pretzels, sweet potato y la salsa de marshmello
CJ Blacks is a great place to meet for lunch or dinner. Has a very diverse menu including sushi! The lunch specials are a good price point. Dinners have a nice portion size. The atmosphere is nice and offers live music on the weekends.
I've had CJ Blacks in my must-try list for some time. I finally was in the area on a Sunday afternoon and stopped in with my husband and stepson. I ran into a friend dining on the patio but it was way too hot for that so we opted for inside. There was a band playing. At first it seemed too loud but they were really good that you eventually didn't mind and you were singing along. I had clam chowder to start. It was dropped at the table before the waitress even finished taking our order- impressive! My stepson ordered fried pickles to start and they were perfectly breaded and crisp. My husband had the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and I had the Mona Lisa. Both portions were generous and tasty. My stepson had the sushi but was unimpressed. Both guys had cheesecake for dessert. Overall it was a very good experience and I would head back to try more menu items.
Very good service and good atmosphere, our server was very nice and we received our food very quickly. The food was good, and we got the 1.5lb pretzels which were huge! They were good especially with the beer cheese! I ordered a fried chicken sandwich and it was huge! A little too big for me but the fries were good and so was the taste. Good restaurant and good experience!
2024-Jan Came for dinner after a hockey game. Great menu (lots of options). We each had soup as an appetizer. French Onion was enormous (see pic), Clam Chowder was ok (a few clam pieces). Onto the sandwiches... one French Dip and one Soprano. Nice thick chicken portion in the Soprano, however too much bread (Ciabatta). Took some home... both meals reheated well. Will I return? Yes. To try something else. Why 4 stars? Music from the band (two piece) was too loud, making it difficult to have a conversation. And a side item substitution (like rice) was an upcharge of $2. Kept the fries... didn't eat many though.
Enjoyed our meal at CJ Blacks. Definitely recommend splitting something because the meals are massive and quite expensive. Everything on the menu is about $20/plate. Menu is a bit much/overwhelming…lots of options for food: sushi, burgers, BBQ, tavern food, etc. but something for everyone to enjoy.
Thoroughly enjoyed the varied menu items that this place offered. The portion sizes were really large and the appetizer options were extensive and flavorful. The pretzel is the largest I have ever seen! On a diet conscious note, they have plenty of options to choose from that wont sabotage you. The salads had great flavor and I am only sorry that I was unable to try the artichoke appetizer since they had run out.
Stopped here on a Sunday afternoon for dinner. Everything was great! We ordered the pretzel after seeing all the pics online. It definitely didn't disappoint. It was huge, and the flavor and texture were perfect!! The only odd thing is that they actually give you marinara sauce with it. I guess because it comes in a pizza box? The chicken with pesto on ciabatta sandwich was sooo delicious!! It was also very large, and I'm glad I shared it with my husband. We also ordered some beers, which were nice and cold. Service was very good as well. We truly enjoyed our visit and would love to go back to try other items from the menu.
Dogsitting for a friend and needed a place to eat. Found this little gem on a good search. VERY friendly staff and a varied menu. I ordered the Manhattan, which was a reuben and my spouse ordered the blackened grouper. My reuben was delicious, very generous amount of tender meat and very good 1000 island dressing. It came with coleslaw, which was also delicious. My spouse said his grouper was about 7.5/10. He said the blackening seasoning wasn't very flavorful.
Came here on a recommendation and as far as the food goes, it was good. The BBQ pulled pork flat bread was on point but could use a better crust. On the Cobb Salad I was surprised they actually deshelled the shrimp completely down to its tails. Can't go wrong with Truffle fries! Service was good as well from the front of house to server. The only thing that can be concerning is that the restaurant seems a bit dirty.
I recently dined at CJ Blacks and had a mixed experience. Starting with the pretzel appetizer, I was pleasantly surprised by its size and freshness. The accompanying cheese sauce was really good, and the marinara, a unique touch for a pretzel, tasted similar to pizza, which I enjoyed. Next time, I might opt for the double cheese, but the red sauce is worth trying if you haven't already. For my drink, I chose a tequila old fashioned, which was smooth and well-made. However, the main course, a bone-in ribeye, was disappointing. Despite being cooked to the desired doneness, it lacked flavor and was almost burnt, with no seasoning to speak of. As any steak lover knows, sending it back wasn't an option, as reheating wouldn't solve the flavor issue. On a brighter note, the service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive and helpful, and other servers pitched in as well. The atmosphere was enhanced by fantastic live music, making for a pleasant dining environment. Overall, I'd return to CJ Blacks, but I would steer clear of the steak.
Have a love/hate relationship with CJ's because the food is always consistent, but the service is always a rollercoaster. Portions are fair, and quality is good. Lobster rolls and steaks are a favorite. Many good dishes. Definitely recommend and always like visiting when in South Florida.
I enjoyed this spot, good food with an emphasis on interesting, quality dishes. A little pricey for what it is, but I've enjoyed everything I've ordered. Service has been hit or miss at times, but never a major problem. Nice drink selection, and extensive interesting menu. Not cheap but very good.
First time for lunch on stormy noon of today. Since we had breakfast rather late opted for the express lunch menu but waited for our order just as well. I went for Shrimp and Crab Cob Salad that resulted huge and decided to take home just about half plate. It was so good that I must recommend it My companions opted for Japanese Meatloaf and Salmon Bowl. Both plates just as great. Another place to strongly recommend no matter if you are Democrat or Republican, it suit either
This place is new so I guess they're still working out the kinks. Apps and food took longer than expected to arrive. The place was also packed, as expected on a Friday night. Love the atmosphere and the decor. Had the C.J. Blacks burger and it was very good. I didn't realize it was a 1 pound burger till it arrived. All my friends got to try it and they said it was the best tasting of all the things we ordered. Fries were ok. I would go back again in the future once everything is running smoothly.
This was our first ever visit. The food was good. The oysters were ok. I wish the were served hot with cheese charred but they weren't bad. The grouper reuben was good and so were the fries. The waiters were busy but still checked in without being overbearing. They are truly professional. Happy hour looked like a fun time with what looked like office groups coming in or a lot of regular customers. All in all good experience.
For what I think it's a sports bar, I was impressed with the quality of the food we were served. We dined late Sunday so there wasn't a crowd. Service was fast food was hot.
I visited CJ Blacks for dinner. The hostess and waitress were very friendly. The waitress always greeted me by my first name. I started off with a Mojito. I ordered the black and bleu burger with fries. The hamburger was messy but tasted very good. The fries were okay and I ate about 75% of them. One odd thing that alerted me was how much glare was being put out by the overhead lights. I guess I can handle the glare by not looking around. The Mojito was very good but I thought there was too much ice in the glass. The noise level was a bit high but you could easily carry on a conversation. I am sure I will return someday. The last three restaurants that occupied this space were okay but they didn't last too long. I hope this restaurant sticks around.
I so wanted to really enjoy our time at CJ Blacks. But the service ruined it. Their atmosphere is rustic and the space is quite large with outdoor seating as well. Their food was very good. Our part of 14 enjoyed what was ordered. I happen to have their Key West sandwich and it was delicious. Others praised their Ribs and their Meatloaf bowl. Where they failed was their service. Our server was absent most of the time and when they would come by, things we asked for were forgotten or took a long time to arrive. The ribs order took a very long time and the person who ordered it ended up eating when everyone else had finished. The manager did come by our table (once we asked) and he heard our concerns but only offered to comp the dessert for the girl who we were celebrating a birthday for. The overall experience was really brought down by the service. Hopefully they work on that.
so far so good 1st time here as far as the food. It took a while before we finally flagged someone down for service . the Brussel sprouts appetizer was really good, I didn't like the calamari too much but the party I was with did, I ordered the California rolls and they were good too but you can't go wrong with it finally the appetizer Buffalo shrimp was super good if you like pretzels this place has a must have to order ordered the ribs and it came out cold but good flavor. ordered Ribeye and the portion is huge and flavorful. this place would be super great when there is less traffic. I paid 278.00 total overall it was ok. management needs to work on the service and high demand ratio, my opinion
Third time the back bar has served me something other than what i ordered when I’m sitting at a table. It’s not the servers fault. Either they have been given a directive or they are taking liberties but regardless Shame i On them. I have been coming here for 5+ years, don’t give me something different than what I’m charged for.
Ordered to GO. When I arrived back to the office. There was No Fork/Spoon for thr Coleslaw. There were NO NAPKINS. Basic Stuff in a Order To GO! Very Very. Dissappointing. Plus i Tipped $$$. So Much for first Impressions. 🫤
Wanted a really good burger and CJ Blacks had a great burger, cooked exactly as I ordered to medium rare. It came to the table without the pickle that I expected because it's on the menu and without the mustard that I requested when I placed my order. Our server brought mustard to the table after I was able to flag down our server and that took awhile so I ate half the burger with no mustard or pickle. The pickle is a mystery, there was never a pickle with my burger. We all know prices are up but our table paid $37 per person for 3 beers between the 2 of us and a sandwich and a burger. It's just disappointing to go out and spend that much for a burger and a beer that doesn't meet the pretty low expectations of including pickle and mustard
First Time - Don't think we will be back. We ordered Sushi Roll and Mona Lisa Sandwich. Sushi was average at best. The Mona Lisa was a tasteless bread sandwich with an oversized, flattened chicken breast, dry and loaded with breading. One half of sandwich had one thin slice of mozzarella and the other half 2 thin slices of peppers. Arugula was there somewhere but not enough to notice. We waited 10-15 mins before being served. However, our server ended up being very friendly and we didn't complain. At least Beer was nice and cold.
I am giving two star because the waitress was nice and the atmosphere with the music was also nice. The food is bad, the Brussels sprouts were horrible I literally had to spit it out of my mouth, the clam Chowder was too thick and no flavor, the brisket had too much sauce on it, and too hard to chew.
Loyal patron of CJ blacks for a few years now, but this past Sunday we tried a dish that was really bad. Just. Bad. My kid said how bad it was and I thought, no biggie, shes picky so ill have it tomorrow. We packed it up and left. The next day I tried to eat it, and she was 100% right. The meal in question was a friend shrimp Alfredo. The issue with it was that it was inundated with black peppercorns, and (i love garlic) but there was an insane amount of garlic...like trying to murder a room full of vampires garlic. So, I make it a point to call and speak with a manager about it. I call and a young girl answers the phone. Apparently the manager is too busy to speak with me on a Monday at 3pm. I leave my name and number after being assured that I'll receive a call back. No call came. So I wait 24 hours and call at 530 on a Tuesday. This time there's no manager in the restaurant. I dont know much, but in any reataurant I've worked in over the past 35 or so years, theres always a manager present. I just decided to leave it at that and probably not go back. The hostess seemed unconcerned, and now so am I. 👎👎👎
My second visit here. It took a bit for someone to come to our table, maybe 10 minutes. I ordered and my waitress was nice. She suggested a menu item to me and then asked if I wanted it with peppers, onions and mushrooms. I told her yes and then when I got the bill, my meal alone was $32 for a sandwich and Mac n’ cheese. I asked her about the charge and she said that she assumed when she asked me if I wanted the peppers, onions and mushrooms (made Philly cheese style) that I knew it was extra. It was misleading and the food wasn’t the greatest so probably won’t be coming back here. Spent over $50 for a sandwich, mac n’ cheese and a kid’s meal.
The server never checked on us after our food came. The food came out less than 5 minutes after our appetizer which we had to wait to eat because we were not given any side plates. The fries came out cold and the sandwich was made horribly. We never had the opportunity to tell the server because she never came to check on us. We didn’t eat the sandwich but paid full price. I’ve been here multiple times and the last few were not good experiences. We will not return.
If you have allergies or food intolerances, I strongly recommend avoiding this place. My order was prepared incorrectly, I ended up eating something I cannot have, and I still paid nearly $30 for a meal that negatively affected me (minus a small surcharge reduction). I emailed management afterward and never received a response. This reflects a lack of care and accountability when it comes to customer safety.
