The host provided excellent service, and the food was prepared and served promptly at the appropriate temperature. The flavor profile was exceptional, and the ambiance was highly conducive to a positive dining experience.

Lori is an excellent server and we love coming here for lunch. Margaritas are cold, food is delicious and the atmosphere feels like Baja. See you next time!

What a great choice! The place has great AC and decoration, funny glass window that looks like sunset and made me forget how hot it was outside. The food was very authentic and delicious. The first round of salsa and tortillas chips were free and the second was only $1.99. We ordered some guacamole on the side and it was so fresh, delicious and kept a us busy for main course. We shared a beef fajitas and we asked for corn tortillas, we absolutely loved it! Suddenly it was happy hour time and we decided to stick around for margaritas 2 for 1 $8 and so the beers. All the menu had reasonable price. I highly recommend Baja café.

Cozy little Mexican restaurant that has been one of our go-to places for nice meals and a few celebrations over the years. We have always loved the food at the Baja Cafe and the consistency they have maintained for a long time now. We are often amazed how well they have always accommodated us, because the dining room is rather small. They always seem to squeeze us in. Tonight we arrived with a party of ten family members from 5 years old to seniors at our table and all enjoyed the food and drinks. We will be back soon as we always are at Baja, because we never go wrong here.

As a local this place is the best! Lauren is the best bartender in town. Value margaritas during happy hour. They have frozens and free chips and salsa.

A fun night of KARAOKE and making new friends every Thursdays night 8 to 11pm. Great prices and friendly staff and an extensive library of songs to sing what you like with a quick rotation.

D
DJ W

Karaoke with Lucy was awesome and added a big positive to our dining experience as did my colleagues & others I had conversations thru the night with. One thing to change for better. Our thoughts is karaoke should be started 1 half hour earlier so not rushed to cut singers rotation earlier due to restaurant closing and hurrying people out. Our experience Thurs. So change karaoke hours: 730p to 1030p or 8p to 11p. not 830p to 1130p doesn't work.

Our first time here - lunch on Sunday. We were greeted right away & everyone is so genuinely kind & hospitable. My fiance just had knee surgery 2 weeks ago & this was his very first outing. We were both craving Mexican food! I always gauge my meal on the salsa. The warm chips & delicious salsa : 10 stars for us!! Loved my cheese enchiladas & black beans. Cant recall what my fiancé had..I was too focused on eating everything on my plate! Great service too. We look forward to many more visits!

We used them for a catering service, for my daughters birthday party at our house. The food was an absolute hit. Everyone loved the set up. We had a taco bar with quesadillas and guacamole. They delivered it to our house and even had someone to help with serving to all of our guests. I would 100 percent recommend them for any catering service or party. We will definitely be using them again in the future. Thank you so much Priscilla for everything!

If you value customer service, come here they are great! Food was delicious and we finally found a place that has good salsa! Yay thank you

Great food, excellent service and good atmosphere. Sat outside, even though it was almost 95°. All the fans were going and it was comfortable. Edgar has been our server a few times and always gets the order right. Margaritas are top notch.

Been coming here since I was a kid. Grew up near by. Even though I live a few hours away, it's still a treat to come here and enjoy some good Mexican food while in town. Always recommend this place to anyone. Amazing staff. Owner comes by to make sure everyone is happy. Just good genuine food and people.

The food was great and the staff was very friendly. They have a great happy hour also. However I would recommend not getting the hard shell tacos they fall apart very easily. I will go back but I will not get the same meal. My boyfriend got the fish tacos and those were great. (soft shell).

K

Staff has to be one of the best "teams" I've seen in a long time, all helping each other and focused on customer service, regardless of who your server was, constantly refilling drinks, running food, picking up empty dishes and taking payments was a seamless team effort! Food was great. My only negative was the foul mouths of some customers in the bar area of the establishment, they were very loud and definitely made it uncomfortable for anyone with children or with aversion to vulgar language.

L
Leesa Finley

Been wanting to stop here forever. Really good food. Satan's Revenge Burrito was great. They were pretty busy, but service was fantastic. Unlimited chips and salsa, great guacamole and the black beans were delicious!

J

My daughter wanted authentic Mexican food and guided me to Baja Cafe. They have a nice variety of dishes to choose from. Chips and dip are automatically brought to the table before you place a order. I chose the blackened Mahi-Mahi, refried beans, broccoli and squash. It was delicious and I will return for the food and the wait staff. One customer bought a shirt from the restaurant that had a taco print all over it. Her waitress was helpful in selecting the right size to make her customer happy and made it a fun experience. There are seats outside the front of the restaurant for customers who bring their fur baby with them. The pet is given a bowl of cold water to keep them cool while their pet parents enjoy lunch.

This place feels like home! They have great drinks, delicious food and everyone is really friendly. There pork wings are my absolute favorite! I’ve been going here for many years and their food is always amazing. There are other Mexican restaurants to choose from near there but this place blows them all out of the water! Highly recommend!

I ordered the Mucho Nachos. I added the $1 and got the extra varde'. Unlike most Nachos this dish didn't leave you wanting for topping. Every chip had something on it and it tasted good 👍. Most times I eat all my Nachos because it's mostly chips this, I had leftovers 😋.

It's simple go to Baja Cafe if you are looking for some good Mexican food and some of the best salsa and chips in South Florida. The chips are fresh and their burritos and chile rellenos came super hot and tasty. It's the kind of place to go when you need nourishment after the beach or a club. It's my go to Mexican when I'm in Pompano.

Just found this Gem. Thrilled we stopped here and will be back. Our server Mike was Brilliant. Courteous, competent and has a great personality. He made our visit so enjoyable. The food was amazing. Loved the flavor of fresh ingredients . Clearly a lot of care goes into everything they do here. The home made margarita mix and fresh juice with top shelf tequila, put them way ahead of anywhere else we tried in the area. We loved the family friendly ambiance . Clientele were clearly repeat customers who enjoy good food and great service . Every staff member we encountered was helpful and they work as a team which was so refreshing to see. Thus a well managed machine running flawlessly.

Fun, friendly, relaxed, and tasty. Had a great experience at Baja Cafe. Our large group had a blast. The service was friendly, constant, while not overbearing. We were visiting the area and found this nice restaurant. It was Sunday around 4 PM, and there was no wait time. We quickly found a table and placed our order, which took about 15 minutes to arrive. While you wait, they serve plenty of chips and salsa—delicious! My Baja taco was very tasty. I was expecting some spicy sauce in the taco, but it was fine; I just added the sauce available on the table. The fajitas were delicious and came with a good amount of sides. Highly recommended if you enjoy Mexican food!

Fantastic neighborhood Mexican restaurant on US 1 in Deerfield. It's across from Target. Festive interior, friendly, efficient staff, and fabulous food!!! I've been here at least a dozen times in the past five years, and Baja Cafe always delivers a fun atmoshere and delicious food. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and the bar section is always crowded. Booths and tables on the inside are very comfortable. Highly recommend the Baja Cafe!!!

I just ordered from here and had to do a review immediately. We ordered take out through Delivery Dudes and I have to commend Baja Cafe. This is the first place since this Pandemic that delivered me tacos that didn’t fall apart upon attempting to eat them. On top of that the shrimp tacos were outstanding and we also enjoyed the spinach enchiladas. I will definitely be ordering again. Must Try!

I have been eating here for over 20 years and I can honestly say that I absolutely love it. More importantly it has always been consistent and that is very important in the restaurant industry. I have tried multiple things on the menu and love them all but I always go back to my favorite, The Shredded Beef Chimichanga. It is hands down the best I have ever had. Also, I really love the refried beans. They season them when they cook them Unlike other restaurants and it definitely sets them apart. This is a great place to bring the whole family and they love kids there. Food is amazing every time. Always a great time when we come and we will continue to be regulars.

Our first time to this restaurant. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The food was absolutely wonderful. Both entrees were flavorful without being overly spicy. Baja Cafe Lounge: A good place to visit, family orientated , friendly and nice. ... Found this place a couple of months ago and have used it for a great Mexican meal and as a causal weekend motorcycle stop. Had wonderful frozen drinks and delicious fajitas, chips, SALSA is A MUST! . Lots of food and very good service with my body "Emilio" everything was great. Not only was the food delicious, but I could not have asked for better service. Got to meet the owner Pricilla who made sure that I was happy and content. Was impressed as I sat outside and the staff interaction with customers look more like family gathering than a restaurant. Highly recommend making Baja one of your first stops and only 6 min away from the beach. ARRRIVA!!! : )

We were all party of 5 and had a fantastic meal and experience. The waitress Lori took care of us and was the best!!! She recommended the margaritas and boy were they great! We then had the caso dip which was creamy and thick the way it should be, we also had the guacamole dip which was also delicious. I had the honey bean burrito which was a combo of sweet and savory and i wiped it out. Finished off with fried ice-cream! The meal was just as good as the service!! Check this place out you wolnt be disappointed.

A hidden gem in Broward County. A small restaurant that's loaded with character and lots of smiles. The interior is beautifully decorated with classic Mexican throughout. The staff is kind and courteous. The bar is small and seats only 6 but it's a great stop for an afternoon margarita. The chips and salsa are delicious. The hot salsa is great, and I used it for dipping my add-on grilled shrimp in. Super delicious. A great atmosphere and good times to be had at Baja Cafe. Well worth a visit. Plenty of parking. Prices are very affordable, great if you're on a budget.

It's amazing. Definitely come in the day day time. It's so beautiful in here. Also I'm a sucker for a gringo taco. The salsa is delicious. I paired my queso, with my gringo or ground beef tacos. And it was phenomenal. The scenerally alone is just amazing.

LARGE PORTIONS. I guess part on inflation in restaurants is boosting the portion sizes. My wife & I should have only ordered 1 entree. The appetizers seem to be meant for 3 or 4. Lively place, not quiet. Excellent foid, flavors, presentation. Just wish we were able to store leftovers...

Good food and service. We were seated with no wait and the servers were very pleasant. I loved the chips and salsa and the food was good but not great. I’m not sure what’s missing but maybe a bit more flavor. I ate the chicken quesadilla and my husband had the two enchilada plater. We ate from the regular menu and there didn’t appear to be any lunch specials.

The rib chicharrones look like they were hard but not, the meat is very tender and everything is very tasty, the place is Mexican but the employees are all American, weird but good service.

Nice, lively, restaurant. I thought the food was good. I enjoyed what I got. The service was friendly and helpful. The waiter I had was great. Her recommendations were on point. I liked everything. This was my first time here, upon entering I was greeted with a smile. I sat close to the bar. The free chips and salsa came immediately. It was very good. The chips were fresh, warm and tasty! I started with the Guacamole and it was delicious. I added some jalapeños. My beer was served with a cold mug! It’s the little things. I had the chicken enchilada, it was good. The chicken could have been more seasoned. The beef hard taco was excellent the ground beef was delicious. The re-Fried beans and yellow rice was yummy. My dessert,,,, which was the Cadillac Margarita was made perfectly. I will definitely be back. Try it out!!

We decided to spontaneously visit Baja Cafe and were pleasantly surprised. We were seated quickly and promptly served chips and dips. Food: The steak fajitas were excellent. The mahi mahi tacos and chicken fajitas were also enjoyable. My husband preferred the refried beans to the black beans. Drinks: The fruity margarita was a bit too sweet for my taste, but the regular margarita was delicious. Ambiance: A classic "hole in the wall" with a loyal local following. Overall: A solid option for Mexican food in Deerfield Beach.

From the moment we arrived, the staff at Baja Cafe made us feel welcome, even though we arrived only 30 minutes before closing time. This was a stark contrast to our experiences at two other Mexican restaurants in the area, which turned us away despite supposedly being open. The warm and friendly service we received at Baja Cafe set the tone for a great dining experience. The food at Baja Cafe did not disappoint either. While the Chicken Chimichanga was small, it packed a big flavor punch. The Quaso was also a standout dish, impressing us with its delicious taste and quality ingredients. In addition to the food, we were also impressed with the selection of tequila available at Baja Cafe. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful in guiding us through the options. Overall, we had a great experience at Baja Cafe. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, and the food and drink were top-notch. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal and friendly service.

Good authentic Mexican restaurant. Average prices. Nice atmosphere. Good food. The help and wait staff was not alert or aware though, since we had been waiting for 15 minutes before I finally got up and asked a random waitress if we could be served with menus and would also like to order shortly. They didn’t come to take our order for another 10 minutes. Also, they never checked after we got our meals, to see if we needed any refills or anything else, like most restaurants do.

Overall we had a great dinner but the service was only alright. Our waitress changed halfway through our meal but both were still in the restaurant so it was confusing to know who to ask for when we needed something because neither came by the table too much. Both servers were very polite however slightly inattentive. The food was very good and the margaritas were fantastic!! It’s a cute little place with a very eclectic decor which was great. We’ll definitely be back however we will be hoping service improves.

The food was great! Steak burrito was covered in cheese and everything was high quality. It did take a very long time (over 45 minutes) for two dishes to come out and they were about half capacity. Easy parking in lot and lots of options on the menu.

4.5🌟 Overall, a good experience. The food was delicious, we had the tacos, burritos and fajitas. The overall setting and vibe of the resturant was good. Parking space was available as well. The only downside (hence reduced star) was the service. The staff kept changing (not one staff assigned to one table) —so they messed up order and delivery. Had to keep new one explaning everything. But in general, good Mexican food.

T

10 stars for customer service, but the food was not what I remembered. The Fried ice cream was still frozen inside and the exterior not fried, just kind of wet. The sangria was good though.

This used to be our "go to" Mexican restaurant while living in Boca. We went back to visit since took a day trip back down, and boy how prices changed. We had a 3 small steak taco plate and 1 burrito for lunch, 2 ice waters and bill was $41.00 plus tip I wasn't planning on a $50.00 lunch. Was it good? Yes, but nothing outstanding. Unfortunately, we will have to remember how it used to be a good value, but definitely not worth it for the price now. Oh yeah, surcharge applied for CC and not disclosed. Food was good, service was good, but nothing exceptional. Should we have seen prices and left? Maybe, but we didn't, hoping it would be worth it.

S

The service was wonder but the food was not good. I don't know if it's due to what we ordered but the food had no flavor and the salsa was sweet.

The food here is mediocre, it's a shame to call it Mexican food. Our server was a short dark tattooed guy who really did not make us feel welcome or seemed like he wanted to be there. We ordered two different burritos and I asked to have jalapenos inside one of the burritos since I like it spicy, the bill comes and he charged us an extra $3 for it. It was literally 4 pieces of sliced jar jalapenos, if he would have informed me that there would be an extra charge for it and I would not be so upset.

I hate leaving anything but glowing reviews but this was kinda disappointing. My parents lived in Boca in the 90’s and we used to go to Baja Cafe regularly. The lady that owned it was from near where we were originally from in Ky. We were nearby for a sporting event and thought it would be similar to the original and stopped in despite mediocre reviews. Decor and ambiance is nice and service great. We did get seated in a small area and had another table sat right on top of us despite plenty of open tables available. Margs were kinda meh . Not strong and either too much or not enough ice. Mom ordered chicken tacos and the shells were black with char marks. My mahi tacos (which were market price which means it shouldn’t be frozen) were disgusting. Super fishy tasting. I had one bite of one and could not finish it. I tried another and got halfway through it before stopping. Not one person asked why I didn’t eat my food which made me think they are used to it. My husband had a drunken burrito and he said it was ok but he would not go back.

The service and atmosphere were great, had lunch at Baja Cafe this Memorial Day, first time I have been there. The food is what I have problems with, it's not bad, just bland. I could tell by the cliental, these were Gringos making food for Gringos (not that there is anything wrong with that). As a Hispanic, would have liked the food to have had more flavor, not asking for spicier, just more flavor.

L
Liliana Pascuzzi

We ate tacos at 1pm on a Saturday and there was plenty of seating. The host and waiter were friendly and the menu had many items. My husband ordered the steak tacos with beans and rice and I got the mahi mahi tacos with beans and rice. Of all the items my favorite was the refried beans. The Mexican rice had a Tex-Mex flavor that I didn't like and the mahi mahi was simply cooked (tasted very seafood-ey). The steak tacos were okay. To drink we had Pepsi and fruit punch Jarrito soda. The ambiance is nice but the food is just not to my preference. I would try another menu item.

J
Jaci Muzamel

The restaurant was clean and the service very nice. We’ve been wanting to try it for quite some time. The food was average. They bill themselves as a California Mexican but having lived in California and Texas this was like no taste we’d ever had. The shredded beef and the Ranchero sauce both had an oddly sweet tomato flavor and while some might like that, it wasn’t for us.

C
Cindy Lee

The parking was great but the restaurant looks run down and needs a “facelift.” We ordered the steak fajitas. The rice was cold that came with the fajitas. The meat was the toughest steak I’ve ever ate!!

E
Envy Witt

This Mexican restaurant has been gentrified… the food was bland and not one person was Mexican! The rice was giving uncle Ben’s microwaveable rice… the lighting is very dim… a lil too dim for me & the carpet needs a good shampoo, and the tables are quite old. Will Never go here again. 5 thumbs down 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

We visited Baja Cafe with hopes of enjoying a flavorful Mexican meal but left underwhelmed by both the food and the service. While the ambiance was lively, the experience didn’t live up to expectations. We ordered a 3-taco plate: Chicken Tinga, Asada, and Carnitas. The Asada taco was solid—well-seasoned and satisfying. The Carnitas were decent, though nothing memorable. But the Chicken Tinga was a letdown. It tasted more like shredded chicken with cumin than the rich, smoky, chipotle-tomato-based flavor that defines true tinga. It was clear the chef missed the mark on this classic. The meat quesadilla, however, was the highlight of the meal. Perfectly cooked, with tender, juicy meat and melted cheese that hit the spot. We also tried a Margarita, which was average at best—nothing to rave about, but drinkable. Service was just okay. Not rude, but not particularly attentive either. What really soured the experience were two charges that felt absurd: $2.99 for a green sauce that was supposed to be spicy but tasted like watered-down green peppers with zero flavor. A 2.7% surcharge for using a credit card, which wasn’t clearly disclosed upfront. These small details added up, and unfortunately, they overshadowed the few bright spots. Overall, we’re giving Baja Cafe 2 stars. Not terrible, but not worth a return visit.

Definitely not the place we remembered. We were seated quickly but weren’t ready to place the full order after she brought us our drinks so we ordered a pizza and she said she would come back. But another person not 30 seconds later aggressively asked us again if we were ready. She was super rude and when we said no she walked away annoyed. We then placed the rest of our order and suddenly we were ignored for about 30 minutes. They brought the sides of the entrees out and then informed us that there were staple items from one of the entrees missing because they just ran out. We then proceeded to wait 45 minutes for the entrees to arrive and again we were ignored. There was no flavor to the food. We all tried to use the hot sauce to give it some flavor but even that was flavorless. We felt that we had no choice but to at least eat the meat portion since we were paying for it. It was just bad all around. They came by and drops a soggy, wet $10 certificate for our next visit. But there’s no way in hell that would dare come back. I honestly would’ve been ok with bad service had the food been as good as it was in the past. Boy are those days gone which is so sad. This was a great place but sadly not anymore.

I'm Mexican. So when I heard Mexican music coming from the cars leaving the place I got excited. They have a huge variety of tequilas to choose from. I see that their menu said California Mexican food so I know what to expect. However, the menu is not Californian Mexican, but much more TexMex. Fajitas, yellow cheese, sour cream. It was disappointing but OK I can pivot, well they don't have chorizo but ground beef. The nachos tasted like pulled pork? As in sweet? Nothing, and I mean nothing was spicy. I do have to say the queso is quite good and the guacamole is made in house well. As for the tequilas, we asked for a list and instead got a blonde woman who came to ask what we wanted. We asked for a list to see what they had, she said they have blanco, respaldado, And añejo tequilas (as do all Mexican restaurants) and then asked if we wanted to shoot tequila or sip it (I think this is a good question to ask) and then asked how much we wanted to spend. I think my mouth fell open. What a ridiculous question to ask a customer. Instead of giving me options based on flavor she gave us a price range. My friend chose an expensive añejo and my buddy got a blanco and I settled for horchata (I wasn't going to play this game). I told my friend that añejo is delicious with a slice of orange and cinnamon to help bring out flavors. I asked the blonde lady of they have orange. She said yes enthusiastically and I asked if I could get a slice with a little cinnamon (the horchata I ordered had some in it) sprinkled on top. She brought me two slices of dehydrated orange wheels that was 95% white pith, the bitter part you throw away, sprinkled with cinnamon. What the hell did she want me to do with this? Our primary server, was great and attentive. They/them was quick on bringing out food and asked about restrictions and asked the kitchen for items when requested. They did a great job. I think this place would stand to have a professional bar manager come in to educate the staff on tequila sales and the menu to be revamped into a cohesive Mexican restaurant. There are so few good places to get Mexican why waste money on another subpar enchilada and hard taco place.

How do I say this… This was the whitest Mexican food I’ve ever had. I’m not a picky eater. But this was horrible. And the country music threw me off.
