Very nice atmosphere, and scenery. I love the location, prime seating, great for a quick drink, business meeting, or doing work onsite. Not to loud, comfortable seating, a little chilly on windy days, and great drinks and barista artistry. 5 stars across the board. Check this location out, you won't regret it.

Great coffee, good ambiance, perfect work/meeting location. I came to this new location on a weekday afternoon with a large party, so we were left with an outdoor hightop spot. The view was gorgeous, and the San Diego weather was perfect as usual, but the sun was real. Bring shades / sunscreen accordingly if you plan to hangout at a table outside. They do have shaded options, but not every seat is taken care of, especially depending on the time of the day. On separate note, I enjoyed the cute succulents at our table.

Love the monkey bite (straight up espresso) and the avocado toast is so good too. I'm obsessed with the lemon vinaigrette on the avocado toast, and they always use the ripest and cleanest avocados. It's usually pretty crowded inside, but you're likely to find a seat if you're patient. Time staff. Depends on the day, but it might take a while to get your drink due to how busy it is. Definitely worth a visit!

First time here. Meeting up with my bf. Plenty of seating. Beautiful views. One hour parking in the back. If the walk is not an issue, street parking at nearby street also easy to find. -Honey B Latte $6.25 14oz— loved the taste of cinnamon and the sweetness of honey. -The Sandpiper $6.25 14oz— enjoyed my aromatic hazelnut. My bf and I enjoyed hanging out here. Looking forward to returning for more yummy latte.

This is a great place to relax after visiting Torrey Pines State Park or taking a stroll along the beach. The location is perfect for enjoying beautiful views, the staff are friendly, and the drinks are excellent. Special thanks to Cady for her outstanding service, patience, and honesty. Thanks as well to the rest of the team for their friendliness and great service.

We love finding a new coffee place to try when we are in the area and this was a great pick this morning. And it seems like everyone knows how good it is because it was hopping. We grabbed some of the Optimist Blend to take home. I had the Sandpiper (hot) and he had the Left Coast (iced) and both drinks were finished (I don't usually finish mine 🤣). They also had amazing chocolate bars, which I definitely needed today.

Delicious coffee. The line can take a while, but the quality of their drinks is worth the wait. Fun place with a pizza and Mexican joint next door.

Adam and Lindsey make this place a delight to visit after our Torrey Pines hikes. The coffee is outstanding, the muffins perfection, but the atmosphere of friendliness and cordiality is unmatched. Bravo!

Solid spot with well-crafted eats and brews. Their Slayer espresso machine is no joke. For a place with phenomenal views and top-notch equipment, they’ve got reasonable prices and strong customer-facing employees. Bravo.

HUH? WOAH AN OVERPRICED COFFEE SHOP WORTH THE COST?????? crazy in today’s economy. as expected from a cute cafe on the beach, there was a bit of a wait, but we were greeted and told it would be a second, and then got an apology for the wait. shoutout to the guy doing the beautiful latte art because i felt appreciated. yes, their food menu isn’t huge, but it was nice to go into a modernised cafe and NOT have to read a billion options on a tiny screen. phenomenal food, i took one bite and inhaled the rest of it. drinks wise, i very much enjoyed that they didn’t just have trendy drinks, they also kept true to their brand. i got a iced latte and added one packet of sugar and DAMN that was the best coffee i’ve had in a while. we all got our food and drinks pretty quickly as well. i WILL be returning. also idk what crack they put in their aioli, but holy aioli.

Visited Bird Coffee Roasters and had a great experience! Ordered a Cappuccino — it was truly refreshing. The Cortado was smooth and flavorful, and the Espresso with whole milk was on another level — rich and perfectly balanced. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, with outdoor seating facing the road, giving a relaxed, laid-back vibe. The service was warm and friendly, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend for coffee lovers looking for quality brews and a chill atmosphere!

Lovely spot to spend an early morning taking in the smells and sounds of the preserve across the street and then taking a walk to the beach. Food menu was surprisingly top notch with plenty of pastry options and great breakfast sandwiches. Expect a line, it gets busy, but once you’re there you understand why it’s so popular.

Slay!! Cute lil spot right outside of Torrey pines. They have reasonable prices and were quick to whip out our orders. The matcha was tasty and the coffee had good flavor as well. Nice indoor and outdoor seating. Good views when sitting outside, but if inside they have a nice beach playlist playing. Would definitely recommend!

Bird Rock is amazing! The atmosphere and environment makes it one of the best coffee shops in Del Mar. I love the choices and home grown feel and taste of the shop and espresso. Great area to have meetings, do work, chat, sit in the sun or shade. It is a bit busy on the weekends but worth the wait. Each staff member hustles and helps every person kindly.

Grabbed an iced latter with oat milk and it was so refreshing gosh! The tables are ill sized(too high or too low)if you want to sit and work, but best option is to be on the deck with a view and under the sun shade. Location is great with the beach walking distance away

Mal was the best barista I’ve ever met (no lie). They knew literally everything I could ever want to know about espresso (and I know how to call my shots). The way Mal multi-tasked a poetic lecture to me in between actively serving it, swiping down customer orders and answering my philosophical coffee questions—with undivided attention on both the customers *and* their work on the machine needs to be studied. They knew their coffee process methods better than I’ve heard before, and they talked me through the entire menu to sell me on something to sip on for later. They thought creatively and constructively about menu improvements, factoring in the shop’s entire supply chain. Mal deserves a medal for San Diego’s most-talented barista. Bird Rock is blessed to have them. Thanks for the best coffee chat I could’ve ever asked for on a random Thursday morning. Keep Slaying it.

Nice spot to enjoy the morning before heading back to the Mountain. Coffee was yummy. My only feedback is please allow employees who are ill to fo home. Cashier was visibly sick with some type of cold. We all need to stay healthy and rest is best away from public as not to spread colds and flu. Good place to enjoy a warm cup of liquid of choice 😀

Great spot for coffee (hot or iced) right near Torrey Pines State Reserve. Can have a long line, but that's how you know it is good! I've had several of their specialty lattes and would recommend them. Although...occasionally, it can taste similar so you can always ask for less sweet/more sweetener if needed. They take both cash and card. I have not had the food there, but they have many options now. The bathroom is shared with the other two businesses and it has both urinal and toilet in one room.

The coffee was delicious but the wait time was 20+ minutes. There was also a barista on their phone in one hand while making coffee in another. Not very sanitary. The environment was comfortable and welcoming, lots of foot traffic and a nice view. There is indoor and outdoor seating. You can purchase their coffee beans and syrups inside as well.

The strength the place has it is definitely the view. I walked into the place and the cashier was kind and engaging. Ordered: Sandpiper 7/10 Just your regular latte with hazelnut flavor, the coffee did not taste very strong to me. Dirty Chai- 6/10- it had a really odd after taste.. Avo bagel 7/10- it was an okay sandwich all the flavors were there, but it was not something I would like come back for. Breakfast sandwich- 5/10 - this one was a bit disappointing, just an bacon, egg English muffin (they were out of sausage this time)

Coffee is decent but nothing special. They make their own syrups, which is nice, but that’s about the only unique thing here. Now for the cons - and there are quite a few. The location is right off Carmel Valley Road, which basically feels like a one-lane highway packed with cars and cyclists. The “patio” is tiny, maybe 15 seats at most, and half the time people park there forever so there’s nowhere to sit. Sure, the view of Los Peñasquitos Lagoon is nice, but good luck actually enjoying it. Wait times are all over the place - sometimes it’s a quick 5–10 minutes, other times you’re waiting half an hour for a simple drink. Overall, this place is seriously overrated and overhyped.

The longest I’ve ever waited for a matcha. 10 minutes to get a very underwhelming matcha. It looks like the girl that made my drink was clueless and slowing her peers down. I would advice to not have trainees on busy days like a Saturday morning

Coffee was very milky, got the sandpiper and it tastes like flavored milk, baristas were smiling but looked like they’re rather be talking to each other and the customer was a big inconvenience to their conversation. Probably should have known when I asked a question and she didn’t even know the answer about the flavors because the workers don’t even drink the coffee here! Nice atmosphere tho but it’s not worth it for the service and coffee, or lack thereof sense it’s basically just milk

I usually try to leave only positive reviews, but my last two visits to this location made me feel that this is something the manager should be aware of. I visited in the morning, and it took 20 minutes to receive my coffee. Only six drinks had been made before mine, so the delay was quite surprising. During the wait, it seemed that the staff were more engaged in personal conversations than focused on service.
