Great stop! J&M accommodated meat eaters, gluten free eater, and a vegan. All of the food is home made. The French fries were freshly cut. My daughter’s chicken strips were fresh, no frozen! My husband’s and son’s burgers were fresh good ol’fashion burgers. 👏🏽👏🏽 Very friendly staff also! (Just a reminder, you’re in an extremely small town. Do not expect masks. We wore ours when we were not seated.)

We're from Oklahoma, traveling for work stopped here for a quick meal and this place is a hidden gem. The lady that served us was even better! Didn't catch her name but she is an absolute sweetheart. Will be eating here again before we leave town. Highly recommend!

Very good, tender and well-seasoned bull testicles (calf fries) and homemade French fries! I will definitely be back next time I'm going through the area if I have the time to stop for a meal. And they also have parking for big trucks to pull off the road to stop in for good homecooked food. They said they allow overnight parking for big trucks too.

Stopped to eat while passing through. Cheeseburger was great. Employees and local customers were entertaining in the way only rural small town people can be. I'd stop again if I had another trip through the area.

Stopped here randomly on Christmas Eve around lunchtime. Typical Texas diner menu - burgers, fried foods, steaks, etc. the food was so good! You know places like these are going to be wonderful or bad, and this was great! The service was good too. Looking forward to stopping here again on our future west Texas trips.

Pleasantly surprised. Was heading home from Copper Breaks State Park and most places were closed. Ordered chicken fried steak which was good (I'm picking about country gravy). Kids ordered catfish and butterfly shrimp. Shrimp was nice and crunchy and the catfish was nice and mild. Glad to find this gem right off the highway.

Stopped here while on a drive cross country, treated me well and had great food. If I am ever in the area again, I will definitely go to this place.

Stopped in because it looked trucker friendly. Definitely some good food. The lady working there was as nice as could be. I'd recommend Caprock Cafe to any trucker passing by. Good menu as well. Got plenty of room to park a truck and trailer.

I drove 500 miles across TexASS to eat at this place. The *BEST* tater tots on the face of God's green earth!! The staff are the friendliest people in the world. Phenomenal pork chops! Mouth-watering patty melt! Breakfasts unparalleled! As the old sayin' goes... “The way to a man's heart is through his stomach.” This place OWNS me.

As I drove by Sunday morning and seen a line of cars sitting in front of the Cafe, I told myself I need to try this little hole in the wall cafe. Well sorry for no pictures, I was hungry. But the cheeseburger on Texas Toast was cooked perfectly, leaving it juicy and fulfilling in taste and size. Even though they didn't have sweet tea, but when you have tea a sweet lemonade mix (Arnold Palmer) it was a thirst quencher. The tea tasted freshly brewed. As I listen to the locals come in, I can only imagine how other dishes taste delightful from how the locals are ordering with out menus. I will be recommending this place to others and bringing my wife back by here. #DTNLivingLife #DTNTransporter

Employees were very kind and understanding of a situation I found myself in while traveling home. Really appreciated their kindness and understanding while I was attending my medical problem. All of them will never know my wholehearted appreciation in that moment.

It's a quaint diner near the highway...great food, and the service was friendly and quick. This has a down home feel to it, which is difficult to find these days

Excellent cafe to stop by at and get some good grub if passing through. The CFS is on point! So is the patty melt! Super friendly staff. Definitely old school, small town vibe here! Nothing fancy. Dated, but clean bathrooms.

Nice little place to eat in an almost desolate area. Food was pretty good and service was spot on. There is some seating but if you have a larger party than 4, I suggest ordering ahead of time and picking it up.

Nice little small town Cafe. Stopped in for lunch on my way back from delivering a load to Lubbock. I had the hamburger steak, with brown gravy, fries, salad, and coffee. Very good meal. Everything that was supposed to be hot was hot. The only downside was, I got there just before the lunch rush, and the waitress and cook could have used a little help. But they did the best that they could under the circumstances. Given the chance I will definitely be stopping there again

On vacation on the trike in the Heat of Texas. Luckily happened upon this lil Cafe. We had no water left and were dehydrating fast. Shannon got us water n sodas fast..let us cool down for a bit. And then we ordered just a senior country fried steak strips..the best I've ever had!!!

Definite small town vibe. Food and prices good. Happened in on Sunday lunch and enjoyed the special of chicken fried steak. Great price and a real hand batter with mashed potatoes. Very friendly place but no public restrooms at this time.

Nice restaurant! Stopped here today with my 2 & 8 year old. Service was excellent. Food was yummy. Smoking and non smoking sides. Takes longer than a quick fast food stop, but that's what it takes for fresh food

We stopped in on our way home from visiting relatives , I had the special, a chicken fried steak sandwich. It was hand breaded on texas toast, plenty of real French fries and gravy. Good home cooking.

Really good burgers and awesome fries. The Sunday buffet chicken fried steaks really good. Only problem is it takes 45 minutes to an hour to get the food. Guess I can't blame the Cafe' Just can't find good help these days. Nobody wants to work, the ones that do don't care and won't put any effort in. But it is the best option for dining in the food is great I'll just make sure to come at the slow times of the day.

Great little find on a long road! I grew up in a small town, love the atmoshpere. When I travel I often look for these little hole in the wall places. Food was really good and incredibly affordable. I enjoyed it so, on our way back through we stopped again. A warm, cooked, plated lunch for $10 is next to impossible to find. Would stop again!

Little cafe in the middle of nowhere TX. Great food, great fast service. Place is not much to look at but to find this gem after 170 miles of nothing, no big deal. Stop if you're so inclined, can't go wrong.....also self serve diesel fuel across the road. $4.25.

Real nice waitress, helpful, friendly. Food was OK, great fried mushrooms and alright burger but fries where trash. I'll go back, want to try there milkshake! Went back, no milkshake but did try the cat fish and it was to die for.

We stopped by while traveling. Grandkids liked the food. Hubby and I didn't order any food but, he did order coffee. He liked the coffee. Said it was pretty good. The only thing is the bathroom. Gues they have problems with the pipes or the septic tank. They didn't want you to throw your used paper in the toilet but, in the trash.

S

People were nice and the food was pretty good. I had the patty melt with tater tots. I reduced my rating by one star because of the pervasive smell of cigarette smoke inside the cafe.

J

I had the open face roast beef sandwich. The flavor was good, but the meat could be more tender.

We ordered to-go. I got the burger and chips. No chips. :( The burger tasted good, fresh lettuce and tomato. Hubby had a patty melt. It doesn't come with sauce; it's on texas toast instead of rye. Fries were a bit moist, and greasy. $20 for these (+ iced tea). Inside the dining area is really unappealing with dusty/crusty fixtures, stained ceiling tiles, rusty/dusty vents. Bathroom was clean.

It took 30 minutes to get our food. We ordered the special and it was cold by the time we got it. Chicken fried steak. Waitress was very nice and professional. The cook was rude to her making us all uncomfortable.

S

I did not like it at all, the Fries tasted like dirt, the un-sweet tea tasted nasty, but their chicken strips were good though, finally the place was running slow. DO NOT RECOMMEND

B

The food is ok, the chicken fried steak is heavy on the batter. Fries are thin and Agee over cook. No sweet tea, we are still in the south. The most annoying part of the meal was the service. The girl doing waitressing was fine, but if you ask her a question, an old lady would yelling the answers from across the room. Like see needed to be in the mix. Then the cook yelled that food was ready to go out. I know Dickens is a small Texas town. But show a little professional grace in the service. But the there is only two food stops in about 120 miles.

There is a lady who works there with a bad attitude she's so rude, shes a bigger build and walks with a limp I really only go there for the milkshake but when she's there I don't get one, they actually just tast like milk when she makes them my favorite is the cherry one and the one time I go in and ask for one while she is working she says "they got in truble for making them" a cherry milkshake but she can make vanilla which only taste like milk.

If I could put a star for food I’d give them a five but for service I wouldn’t give any stars so I gave a one for that reason. The food was great but we waited an hour and a half for our food. We waited because we were assured they were coming out with our food while we watched five tables of folks come in 30 to 45 minutes after us sit down, get their drinks, then their food, eat and leave and still we had no food. We were a large group of 15 and when I asked one of the waitresses what was going on her answer was that they had to rewrite our order and it got placed behind everyone else’s orders. If you want good food and don’t care about service this your place, if you’d like both service and good food, try somewhere else.

J
Jaime Dyck

Had chicken straps they ran away from me that's how raw they were and the fries are literally completely raw and the coke is old and has no fizz in it

Sept 10, 2023, stoped by at exactly 8:27pm, the Hispanic girl and cook were in the kitchen eating. We asked could we order, they said their closed. I checked the clock again and it was just under 8:30pm. Wouldn’t even let us order candy or ready snack as option. Was gonna do dinner and breakfast the next morning, but because they didn’t serve us at 8:29pm and they don’t close till 9pm, we decided they didn’t need our service for breakfast either. Place also looked very dirty and unkept.

We haven't been back since the two young girls would not give us to go cups they insist glass but we ask just give us to go cups instead of glass that way when we get ready to leave it will be easy they wanted to charge us twice I could understand if we asked to go cups after we we're dun but this was while placeing our order

Walked in and got seated right away, but then proceeded to wait over an hour for our food. Not overly crowded or anything. Several groups around us got up and left after waiting 30-45 mines. Just a silent room of people sitting around looking at each other wishing there was any other restaurant within 30 miles. Just keep driving.

V

Do NOT stop here if you are traveling. They did not even have sweet tea or a public restroom. Sign on the door states “NO PUBLIC RESTROOM.” How can you be southern and in Texas if you do not have sweet tea and be hospitable. Southern hospitality is not in this place. Definitely not on Mondays when we went. If you are a local you should be fine. The locals had real glasses. We got to go cups. The place was busy when we went inside. There were more people that came in after us and sit in a separate dining area. EVERYONE before us and after us got their food and we was still sitting waiting on our entrees. All we ordered was 2 lunch specials and a hamburger steak. We sit for over 50 minutes and only received our salads and drinks. We were on a tight schedule and asked the waitress if we could get our plates to go and the cook got soooo mad she basically flung our food in to the to go boxes. And then the waitress got upset when we told her we was on a time crunch and that everyone else got their food and her exact words were “they ordered cheeseburgers and I’m sorry to admit that they are precooked”. The only reason they got a one was because if I didn’t I could not post a review.
