Tomatillo Dobbs Ferry Reviews
A delicious evening out with great service! Appreciate the variety of options for vegans and omnivores. I especially enjoyed the oyster mushroom tacos and churros. I also greatly appreciate how careful they were with food allergies for another in our party. Their transparency about ingredients when we ordered gave such peace of mind so we were able to enjoy the evening. Look forward to returning!! Thanks to the whole team at Tomatillo.
Great little Mexican place! I really enjoyed the food and margaritas, and the service was stellar. Nothing too fancy, very family-friendly.
My favorite dish are the jackfruit tacos!! Those are amazing! I cannot wait to try them again. It’s really sad that I’ve been there so many times and I’ve been waiting for a year and a half to try them again, I wish they could have this option the whole year 😭😭😭 also the taqueria quiltet are amazing!
What’s Good Here? – They call it a Cauliflower Bowl, but it’s more than that. It’s heat and crunch and cool relief all in one. The crispy cauliflower comes out golden, fried with purpose, still tender inside. No mush. No nonsense. Just honest-to-goodness bite. They coat it in buffalo sauce—sharp and bold, the kind that wakes you up. Then comes the guacamole, smooth and cool, like shade after sun. And a creamy cilantro-poblano dressing pulls it all together. It’s not showy. It just works. Then there’s the Oaxacan Burrito. Grilled chicken, jack cheese, rice, beans, pickled onions, and a deep mole sauce that’s thick and dark and slightly sweet. It doesn’t brag. It doesn’t need to. You taste it, and you know. What’s Good Here? A bowl that bites back, and a burrito that holds nothing back.
Mexican restaurant with many vegetarian options available. They have the usual chicken, pork and beef, but also beans, tempeh, mushrooms and other protein on the menu. Real cheese and vegan cheese if you’re vegan. We had two starters, (see pics) the Esquites and the Cheese Costra. Both were excellent. The first is like a cheesy humus sort of consistency. Made with corn, cheese, spices. The Cheese Costra is a think layer of cheese with veggies and spices on top. Excellent, and a nice way to eat vegetables. We then shared an enchilada made with tempeh chorizo. It was very good, with jack cheese and some veggies. It came with a green salsa which was tangy and a little zippy. I would have maybe preferred a red salsa. I used the tortilla chip salsa and liked it that way. We are vegetarians, and so it is great to have a place where we can eat a real dinner, hot entrées, and have choices on the menu. The service was friendly and attentive. We will come back to try some other things off this menu. Recommended!
Really good Mexican food. Everything tasted fresh and authentic. I ordered nachos with delicious grilled chicken. Carnitas and fish tacos which tasted a bit too fishy. The fajita bowl was so-so it had tiny pieces of steak and they should include warm tortillas in my opinion. The salsa they made is also really good.
Would always stop by when I worked around the block from here. Burritos are amazing. Food is all organic and the meat and eggs are free range. Everything is local, even the beers. The staff is always on their game, new and old members. You honestly can't go wrong with the food here. Burritos like mini footballs. Mouth watering.
Really enjoyed my meal here! You could definitely taste the fresh ingredients and much less grease compared to a lot of other Mexican restaurants in the area. I had three tacos: steak, calamari, and market fish (cod). Very yum! I thought their super chunky guacamole was delicious too, though another person I ate it with wasn’t a fan of the veggies in/on top of it (I liked them).
Food was tasty. Had the calamari, baja fish & asada tacos. Wasn't a fan of the calamari, as it wasn't seasoned enough. By the time I got to the baha fish, it was a little soggy. The steak was tender & flavorful. Will order again.
I definitely look forward to revisiting this location to try additional dishes. The cauliflower tacos were amazing. I also like the layout of the restaurant and the restroom was clean. It was busy so not the warmest reception yet not unkind either…I’d say distracted yet polite. This was a Saturday afternoon.
They offer a number of vegan options, weekly specials and deals, such as 20% off tacos on Tuesday’s. I ordered the squash taquitos, with a side of rice and beans and churros for dessert. I enjoyed the pesto sauce and vegan crema from the taquitos and mixed it along with the rice and beans. The churros were yummy, as well as the chocolate sauce that came with it. Overall, the food was great and I recommend dining in at Tomatillo.
Best vegan quesadilla I've ever had. Super nachos are pretty awesome as well. Kinda disappointed with their tequila flyers. Had 3 different brands of tequila and they all tasted a bit off. At $22 for 3 shots per person the tequila shouldn't taste weird lol The staff are very nice I should mention as well.
Food is great! Amazing even. Great vegan options which is why I keep coming back. Dining experience is okay (based off a couple dine in experiences), with personal chatter going on in a small space. I dont really care to hear it but my GRIPE today which is disappointing is that I love their Vegan Horchata but for some reason after trying it twice, my cup is full with ice to the brim with about 8oz of liquid. I asked for it to be topped off as maybe it was a mistake or oversight in ratio per drink in store and was told that it's a concentrate that they use, though, that didn't answer my question. The bartender explained after I asked again if she could top it off with water or dairy milk (an option that potentially has no upcharge). That defeats the point of it being vegan. I paid $8 for LITERALLY 4 sips. I kid you not. Left cup is untouched, right is two sips in. Still outside of the restaurant. Fix the ratio per price. It's ridiculous and a rip off.
