San Gottardo Dongo Reviews
The location is very nice, owner and service are courteous and attentive. Visiting spontaneously we found seats inside which was absolutely no downside to sitting outside. The food is very good too - though it is missing a certain something you‘d expect for the price range.
The menu is very simple yet soooo tasty. The staff is nice and the environment is very cosy. We ordered the ravioli, carbonara and the beef slices + tiramisu for dinner. All dishes were tasty and homey. The wine suggested was also very nice. Highly recommended!
This place is perfect for a lovely dinner. The service was excellent and the restaurant had a romantic atmosphere because of the music. The owner is really friendly and described everything on the menu. There is a small menu because all the food is made with local products. We loved it and we will definitely be back!
Sensational dinner. We had one of the most enjoyable dinners during our visit. The owner was such a character! He was exceptional at describing the food and took great pride in his food & menu. The menu is small which we prefer - it’s clear the ingredients are sourced carefully. We loved it so much!
Was there for dinner. The “taglieri” of cheeses, local sausages, ham and bresaola can be a super tasty choice for a light dinner, an apero or even a dinner, accompanied by wines and beers from the local brewery Legnone. The place, in the nucleus of Dongo, is fresh, cozy and very traditional. A bit of swing music is making the dinner super relaxing.
The restaurant has a very cozy courtyard and serves beautiful and delicious Italian food. The owner and staff are very knowledgeable and advise you very well on wine choice and how to experience their dishes in the best way. Thank you for having us twice. (Listen to them and you won't regret it)
We phoned to book in advance as it was full on a weekday night. The owners were super friendly and passionate about their food. We ordered the funghi tagliatelle, carbonara and risotto with bone marrow beef. All were so good, for me the carbonara was heavenly! The local red wine recommended was also very good, just the right blend of flavour. This restaurant was in an alley and they have a nice garden terrace especially in this nice summer weather. Highly recommended and we’ll be back!
This is the real italian kitchen you are looking for! It has a small card but that’s what makes every meal so good and authentic. A lot of local products are used for the food and the owner. The owner explained the whole card where everything is from and what it is and took his time so we understood everything. You notice he and his team put a lot of love and work in there food so nothing but compliments! Want to taste the real italian kitchen with great wines, this is the place to go, we enjoyed it 100%! Grazie
We had dinner at Osteria del Bumbardin the first night we stayed at Dongo. And we were so impressed by the kitchen that we returned the second evening. The interior is simple and the menu has local food (around 5 starters and 5 main courses plus desserts). So you can assume that everything is made freshly. Exactly what you await from a classical Osteria. Classical and local fresh food. It’s not very cheap, but price-value ratio is perfect. Every meal we had was perfect! The owner and his son (?) who mostly runs the service are both super friendly and make you feel welcome and comfortable. We would definitely recommend and return!
Everything was perfect! The location super cute, the owner and the personal very friendly and welcoming! The food was really delicious, the portions adequate and the price fair for the quality! The dishes of the day were a must try! Totally worth a visit and definitely coming back to this paradise of taste :)
I saw all the 5 star ratings and decided do go there. Yes I'm in love with italy but this is truly gem hidden in Dongo. The manager and his staff was extremely friendly and helpful and gave good suggestions about the food choices. Local dishes with local wine was a perfect match and the small patio inside the place just made it perfect. Even if we had to go there on a scooter in the poring rain I would definitely do it again. Make sure to make a reservation as the tables are limited.
This place deserves 5 stars in everything. Quality food in great quantities at very affordable price. The owner is friendly and love to take care of his clients, taking the time to explain how the food is prepared and what to visit in the surrounding. The place is cozy, cured and welcoming. It is a “must go“ when visiting the lake of Como.
Owner was very friendly, after a few days eating at different restaurants in Como area, the owner really offered great service and explanation of his menu unlike others. We ordered porcini and ragu pasta both very fresh and delicious. For the main, we ordered Ossobuco to share, the meat was tender and flavorful. Dessert Tiramisu is okay. Would recommend to visit if you are staying in Dongo
