Bijou Bistro Dublin Reviews
The brunch was beautifully presented and tasted amazing, the scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked, and the smoked salmon was fresh and flavorful. The traditional Irish breakfast was generous and well-prepared. Service was attentive and kind. However, I had to give 3 stars for the atmosphere because there were quite a few small flies buzzing around the food, which made the experience less pleasant. With better hygiene, this place could easily be a 5-star spot.
That’s a great place! Pleasant welcome at the entrance 🙂 Tasty dishes and coffee! I have ordered a soup - one of the most delicious I’ve ever tried in Dublin. Service is flawless 👍 Pleasant stuff. The place is pretty busy and the booking is required at weekends, but it is not a disadvantage! 🙃 That’s my second visit and not the last for sure! ❤️ Thanks to everyone who works here!
My husband and I had a lovely meal! The food is delicious and the staff is very friendly.
We had our confirmation party here today and everything was perfect! The waiters in the restaurant downstairs were absolutely fantastic and really made our day extra special, we cannot praise these guys enough, nothing was a problem, we will definitely be back !! Food was delicious too.
Bijou is a (not so) hidden gem in Rahtgar. We had been a few years ago and didn't come out of the experience feeling particularly happy. Years later we decided to give it another chance for a lunch during the week and I'm sooo glad we did. The atmosphere is that of a gastro pub: clean, cozy, comfortable, local. Service is gentle and very, very fast, which makes it a great option for both a Sunday learly dinner but also for a quick lunch during a workday. For my taste the menu is one of the best I could think of. I could basically order anything blindly and it would be something I typically would like to order. In the last few months we have been there 3-4 times trying various different things and the food has always been great. Some things have been plainly fantastic, worth of a much more expensive restaurant. Instead prices are still reasonable despite the recent hikes in the same area and portions still generous. There's plenty of great wine options by the glass, which is not that usual.
Brought my Dad here recently for his birthday along with the rest of the family. Staff were extremely helpful. Especially as our son has a number of food allergies. Food was also very tasty.
Excellent service by Rakesh,Hannah and of course Larry on the aperol spritz and very fresh and tasty food on reasonable prices !!! 100% recommended .
Had a birthday dinner at bijou- Rory was amazing ! And made it so special
The second time and the conclusion is the same: nice place, good food, friendly service by Rory and we will be back. Do reserve!
Food was amazing, starters, main unreal. Service was superb, and place lovely. Will definitely return.
All the food we ordered was really good!
We always enjoy a lovely meal in Bijou, fresh food, good wine & friendly service
I had a nice battered cod and chips for lunch. Very quiet and quick serving when I was there.
Excellent Sunday afternoon dinner here yesterday. Great menu and excellent service. Good value in a lovely atmosphere
Amazing food and service. Steak was sublime, as was the mushroom soup to start.
Excellent food and service for a private function upstairs, staff were very attentive, good menu selection and all dishes were perfectly cooked.
Enjoyed another delicious meal here. Service was very friendly and efficient even thought there was around 40 of us. The warm duck salad was plentiful and very tasty and I loved the venison and the lemon mousse with spiced figs and meringue was a lovely finish to the meal.
Had lunch here with a large group for a family celebration. The service was exceptionally good and the food was tasty. A big thumbs up!
One of my favourite bistros in Dublin lovely choice of food, nice drinks menu, great service & quite reasonable overall, they cater for groups too, located in Rathgar we have been going here for decades and never had a bad experience, also the pastry & coffee shop next door is part of the same business & its cakes etc are to die for.
Amazing food but the best thing about bijoux is the staff !! Emanuel was so kind and friendly to me and my family when we came in for my graduation . He remembered my mother and made sure she had the best experience. Definitely will be coming again !!
Bijou Bistro is legendary- beautiful French themed restaurant. Delicious steaks! Fabulous staff - very special place.
Fantastic. Ordered food for 16 adults for a communion which we held in the house. Couldn't be happier with the food or the service. Very reasonable, especially considering they included chafing dishes and set it all up. We ended up asking to change the dishes and the time in the days before and it was no bother at all. Even on the day I asked for a gluten free desert option to be included as our cake( got sperately) wasnt gluten free and they added that in and refused to take any payment. Wonderful experience and took so much stress out the day. Would definitely recommend . (They do need to half the rice portions though! massive!)
Great produce and fantastic service. Bijou never disappoints.
We celebrated our son’s Christening party at Bijou and had such a fantastic time. The food was delicious and every staff member we encountered was so professional and pleasant. They really went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time.
We had a nice group dinner here. Everyone had starters and mains, and some desserts too. We ordered a bottle of Chardonnay and a bottle of Malbec for the table. Both were nice. I had the soup of the day which was ok, and the fillet steak which was delicious! My partner had the veggie curry and the others had the Christmas turkey and ham dish. Overall, great service, atmosphere and food. Would recommend!
This got to be one of my favourite places to eat. Great atmosphere, good food and very welcomed service. We went for their early bird 2 course which is great value. Very sizable portion which you would not be disappointed. They also have a function room for small gatherings which is very cosy
I've been here on a number of occasions and the quality is top notch (and consistently so). The food is full of flavour and portion sizes are generous. Everything about the place is wonderful.
Amazing restaurant, fabulous food and staff were brilliant. We had our evening meal here and loved it so much went back for breakfast the next morning. Would highly recommend👍
I honestly just wasn't expecting this place to be this good. They were SO fast, so friendly and the food was so much better than I expected. Paid 13 euro for the buttermilk chicken sandwich, which is normal enough prices for a restaurant in Dublin, but this was so much better than I was expecting, they somehow managed to turn it into what I can only describe as a fancy salad on toast, it was delicious. And I'd say about 5/6 minutes from walking in the door to having food in front of me at lunchtime which is great. Well done them!
I went here with friends for dinner. Very good food. Very expensive. I would have given 5 star for my main course, but starters could have been better and other main dishes were okayish. Deserts were very good. Waiter was very knowledgeable and made custom cocktail for me. Only downside was fire alarm was going on and off for really long time and was a bit irritating to sit for some time until they fixed it. The restaurant has nice ambiance with 2 floors and a pretty bar.
I only had a light lunch which was really delicious. I would definitely like to try the evening menu soon. The service was excellent, very professional and attentive. I was seated close to the kitchen which, unfortunately, is also near the toilets. The smell coming from the toilets was very unpleasant which put me completely off I'm afraid. A real shame as the food was really nice.
Bijou is very pretty restaurant, looks quite unassuming from the outside really, but the interior is very old school chic, from long before press-ups were a twinkle in the eye of the Dublin restaurant scene. And it’s because of that I wish the food was more ambitious, or focussed on the cuisine of one country. As it is it’s doing a grand job serving a standard pan European selection of bistro dishes, and it does that quite well, I just wish it greater sense of purpose than that!
The best meal in Rathgar. We had no reservation but was seated with a wait by the bar. Would have loved a smile from the manager, he seemed very serious but the servers made up for it by being smiley and professional. Emmanuel and Alice were fantastic to deal with. Food here is of the highest quality and taste. Superb meals. Very flavorful. My Prosecco didn't taste amazing but it was ok. Perhaps it was a bit flat... But had no complaints at all. I would come back again and again.
The food was pretty good. Two floor restaurant with a bar and party specific rooms.
Dropped in for a desert late in the evening. Very surprised at this restaurant and its staff. Certainly worth a visit. Very relaxed with an influence fron the Art Deco period. Paintings on the walls are eye catching. Make sure you visit the Upper floors to see the rest of the collection of art! Well worth a visit!
Starters we a little hit or miss (mussels light on taste). Beef cheek burgers were some of the best we've ever tasted. Blew me away. Desert of cheesecake was lovely. Friendly staff. Would be 5 stars if not for the mussels.
Great local restaurant. Service is great food good too. Best to book as it can be busy.
Eggs Benedict...eggs were way too soft and the spinach was full of water. Bun was drenched in water....
Sunday lunch is good value and service is excellent.
Very nice little bistro. Not too many options on the menu, but enough for everybody to find something they like and all prepared pretty well. Service was great and really stood out.
We recently had our anniversary in Bijou, the reason being that it was our first date 1 year ago so I decided to recreate the moment, very cheesy sure, I know. I booked a week in advance to make sure we would have the same table we sat at last year. I got there and to my surprise, they gave that table along with the other 2 tables to a party of 6, I must mention no one sat at that specific table, only a lady's bag and a coat. When I asked why was the reason i couldn't get the table I requested 1 week in advance she, the host, with a smart tone I may add said that it's the only place where they can fit wheelchairs. So they fit us at the opposite table vis-à-vis where the table set up is the same, therefore, the party of 6 could have easily fit there along with the wheelchair but the host chose to ignore whatever requirements there were and sit us wherever suited her. Nevertheless, the food reached the expectation as usual, and the other staff members were 10/10.
I had the smoked salmon and scrambled egg from the brunch menu - egg was a little too soft and mushy - I prefer it to be a bit more chewy - that's my preference so not a fault with the food itself! We ate outside and it was quite noisy with all the traffic - will try indoor seating next time!
Good food, good atmosphere, friendly staff.
Its my fourth visit this year and the last too times food very poor will not be coming back 260 bill for sub standard food bijou no thanks
A really good neighbourhood restaurant that’s stands the test of time. I always have a good experience. Nice food, good selection of nice wines, attentive staff.
The food was great and the place had a romantic atmosphere. This was my second visit, first time all was perfect. Unfortunately second time around, the waiters were quite pushy for us to order and bar staff couldnt make a cocktail to save their lives. Such a disappointment. Food great, service lacking.
I went on February 14th in the afternoon. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was beautiful. The only issue I didn't like was the service from one waiter. He seemed nervous and kept pacing. He started chatting with a girl at another table and rushed us through the bill because he said he needed the table. The other waiters were attentive, but I particularly disliked his service.
Lovely restaurant, lovely food Don’t buy a gift voucher as they give away to mysterious people when you go to use it. You will be made embarrassed, and you won’t get your money back. Terrible service 😡
What a disgusting food. I had fish, I was looking at the kitchen, totally dirty, I think was a chinese and Irish serving, SO DIRTY!
My experience at this establishment was deeply disappointing. Upon arrival, the waiter, who introduced himself as the manager, was hostile and unprofessional. He made remarks such as "this is not a coffee shop" and "this is not a pub," barely allowing me to look at the menu. The poor treatment continued, as he interrupted me repeatedly while I was trying to order. Observing the other customers, it became evident that I was being discriminated against, as they were given time and space to review the menu and place their orders without interference. Additionally, I noticed that he offered to store coats for other patrons, but when interacting with me, he adopted an intimidating and sarcastic demeanor, seemingly intent on making me uncomfortable. This ruined what could have been a promising dining experience, leaving me with no appetite. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this place to anyone.
