Driven by here often. OTR trucking. First time stopping in and it won’t be our last. The place is spotless. The service is excellent from the server and the owner. Food comes out fast. You can be in and out in 45 min. if you want to or relax if you have time. The food was of top quality, plenty of it and very reasonably priced. Under $20 per person. Owner even ran out to our truck with a hat we forgot. Don’t pass this place by.

Came to the Big Country Cafe from Amarillo after we visited Window on the Plains Musuem across the street. We had our kids with us and the atmosphere was family driven, kind and professional. The food was great. We had breakfast items and everyone was satisfied with the portions too! The price was fair for three adult meals and one kid meal at about $60 before tip. We will be back!

We go to CO once a year & always make it a point to eat here on the way out of Dumas. Food is amazing, waitresses are fast and on it. Please stop & grab a pancake or a chicken fried steak. You’ll be sooo glad you did!

Stopped here on a road trip from Colorado to Houston, Texas. This was a pleasant respite from a long car ride. The restaurant is large, the food good and the service was excellent. We ordered Chicken Fried Chicken, loaded baked potato, salad, and hamburger steak. All items were tasty and served piping hot. I would eat here again if in the area.

We just happened to find this gem of a restaurant and their amazing staff! The food was awesome last night, so good we had to come back this morning before leaving town. Adriana from last night and Zaira from this morning were the ultimate servers and represented the restaurant PERFECTLY! We highly recommend this restaurant!

This place should have the opportunity to put 100 stars!! The food was EXCELLENT. The service was PHENOMENAL. The atmosphere was HILARIOUS and peaceful. Would absolutely eat here again and wish we lived closer to have it more often! We liked it so much last night we went back the next morning! Adriana and Zaira were such a pleasure to have and deserve to have all the good things come their way!! They both made it feel like we were their only table and treated us with the best service!!

We are from out of town. Spent the night in Dumas then had breakfast at Big country Cafe. Do yourself a favor and don't miss this place. It's amazing! Friendly staff, great prices and amazing food. We will definitely be stopping here on our way back home.

I’ve been to Dumas at least once a week but up to 3x in the past month. The Mexican food is an invitation to my childhood. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The owner is always up for a good chat as well. The cashier is GREAT!! Would highly recommend!!

Food was great! My husband ordered the breakfast, steak and eggs and his steak was cooked to perfection. I ordered the garbage burrito and it was amazing. Not only that, but our server Jessica was an absolute doll. And you can't beat the price for the food! If you're going through Dumas Texas, you must stop here! Breakfast is served all day.

The Big Country Cafe is a great place to eat! There’s a great variety of homestyle food and wonderful, locally homemade desserts too. Try the Apple pie. 😉 The atmosphere is peaceful, family oriented and it’s very clean and the waitresses will take good care of you.

Visited on 3.15.2025... I took my friend Jaidyn up her recommended to eat here and enjoy her company. I know that her waitress skills and outgoing personality are legendary from meeting her at another restaurant in Amarillo. Aside from Jaidyn, the food here is Amazing and it is worth the 45 minute drive from Amarillo to Dumas. Highly recommend to anyone driving through the Texas Panhandle. Definitely will eat here again!!! Returned on 7.24.2025 and got served by Shelly. The Chicken Fried Chicken Platter was Spectacular!

Oh my goodness what wonderful food! We will have to come back up this way just to eat here again. Definitely worth it! We tried the jalapeno cheese steak and the chicken fried steak sandwich; I also had the sweet tea. Lovely

This is this location's 4th or 5th incarnation since I have been coming here (55 years now) but it is the best one yet. The portions are large, the prices reasonable and the food is, as always, delicious. I had the shredded beef quesadilla which came with chips and salsa as well as generous portions of rice, refried beans, guacamole and pico de gallo. If I have any complaint it is that the refries were a tad thin for my taste; I like them a bit thicker, but that's just my personal preference. Otherwise the entire dining experience for my wife and myself was very enjoyable and that's why Big Country is a regular stop for us.

I enjoyed my dinner at Big County Cafe during a recent stay in Dumas. The service was attentive and friendly and my meal was good. The salad tasted fresh and the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes was very tasty. It is located in a cool older building with a great restaurant sign out front and old school vibe complete with wood paneled walls on the inside. The place seemed to be popular with locals and that is usually a good sign. I'd dine here again.

I had the chicken strip dinner for $10.99 and they were massive. Definitely enough food. And they were so good. My friend had the omelette breakfast and couldn't finish it, as there was just so much. Very tasty and fluffy pancakes. The service was great; our waitress was very kind and quick to the table.
