Chez Mikes East Greenbush Reviews
Food- Outstanding. Atmosphere- Fantastic. Service- Friendly. They make you feel at home with upscale menu options in a welcoming environment. Loved the experience!
The service was "super excellent" and food excellent. The portions were a bit pricey for the size, but delicious nontheless. A special shout out for the great cozy neighborhood feel and friendly staff.
Best food ever …don’t skip dessert…home made ice cream! It’s located in a strip mall so atmosphere outside and quaint inside…rez highly recommended…love this spot!!!
Chez Mike is a great place, really great. Don't let the location fool you. We compare Chez Mike cuisine with any comparable restaurant in France and we have had some great meals in France. The wait staff is so very personable and attentive. One can't go wrong.
Chez Mike's, located in Hannaford Plaza, is quite possibly one of the best restaurants in the Capital District. It's small and cozy (reservations highly recommended) and the dining experience, from the quality of the service to the selections on each of Mike's seasonal menus, is sure to please. Hint: the short ribs are to die for. East Greenbush needs more higher-end restaurants but while we're waiting for that to happen, thank goodness for Chez Mike's 👏
First time here, we had heard many good things and decided to check it out. It was a great atmoshphere, great service and food and very clean. Will definitely be back. Oh, they have a bartender who knows how to make a cosmo, they were perfect.
Great menu. Great service. Dined yesterday to celebrate my son's birthday. Cameron was our server and he was excellent. Thanks Chez Mike!
What more is there to be said about one of the best kept secrets in the Capital Region? CM has been at the top of our list for years now. Who knew, that tucked away in a little suburban strip-mall, would be this culinary gem of gems. The menu is superb, with a perfect balance of items for those with more adventurous palates, as well as for those who prefer something more familiar. All too often, we've taken the advice of others to try this place or try that place, the result nearly always being a plate of Sysco swill dressed up to look a little more adventurous. All of that mediocrity makes it all the sweeter to return to our home-base, Chez Mike. As has been stated in other reviews, it speaks volumes that front of house staff is not only knowledgeable about every dish on the menu, but there is very little turnover as well. I even e-mailed Mike once to see if he would give up one of his recipés as cooking is one of my passions at home. He got right back to me with all the details! Being as ardent a home cook as I am, I suppose my standards are high. That's why when we do choose to dine out, we nearly always choose Chez Mike. It never fails.
Jam packed with people, and the food / service is why! Make sure to make a reservation. Quality gourmet food prepared exceptionally well. Many choices for apps, meal and dessert. Has a revolving set of specials as well.
My wife and I were in the area and looking for a nice dinner. We absolutely found it with Chez Mike! Excellent food and wonderful service. We very highly recommend and we will be back when in the area again!
A wonderful dining event. Delicious food and a great server. Cameron was his usual friendly and very efficient self. My fave go to restaurant in EAST GREENBUSH. FIVE STARS FOR SURE.
Food is a great value. Quality is top notch at a reasonable price. I almost always get the liver!! If they can do li ed so it us edible, they can cook anything to perfection. Try the tuesday/Wednesday 3 course prix fix for around $25.what makes theirs different is the choices are something you really want to eat!
Absolutely amazing food and service at Chez Mike! Be sure to make a reservation.
Its the best food Ive ever had in a strip mall, hands down. Eaten there three times, different order each visit, high quality throughout. Smaller menu, but everything lands perfectly.
A delicious and delightful find! Warm, tasty bread with a scrumptious braised beef (extremely tender). You can't go wrong but it is popular so call for a reservation.
This was a surprise. We were in the area we are not familiar with and found this little gem! The service was excellent! The menue was interesting and filled with fine foods. The food was delicious! We will be back!
The only real restaurant in Rensselaer/E Greenbush. Excellent food, great wait staff, intimate dining. Plenty of daily specials. 3-course special costs around $22, highly recommended. Separate bar area if you just want a drink and/or high-top eats. We come here often and are never disappointed.
Hidden Gem. Chilled corn soup with crab and pepper sauce was a perfect summer appetizer. The halibut, short ribs, and pressed chicken were all fabulous. The chick pea fries were a big hit at our table. And then there was the bread with olive butter...to die for. Just a great find.
Diverse & varied menu. Good wines, amazing service! The food is excellent. All if it!
East Greenbush best keep secret. A local favorite with lots to offer aside from the already impressive menu, lots of high end dishes every day at a reasonable price. Would highly recommend this place.
Bartender was very attentive as we waited for our table despite a crowded bar area. She was outstanding. Our waitress made the experience even nicer, very friendly. Food was excellent. Our entire party got different plates and each was as tasty as the next.
We went for a birthday dinner and were blown away! Scallops, salad, short ribs, the beef cheek special, rhubarb crisp… Everything was dialed in, creative and perfectly executed, with super-friendly service. A real gem.
I am SO impressed with Chez Mike! Service is great, and they really take the time to make you feel welcome. The little cookies that came with the check were so good, and the little chef-signed note that came with the boxed leftovers was such a nice touch.
This is the place we go for dinner out when I visit my sister and brother-in-law. The food is wonderful, seasonal and locally sourced. The staff is sweet and efficient (especially Cameron). The ambiance is happy and relaxed. My family always looks forward to dinner at Chez Mike, and we're never disappointed.
This was a great dining experience. It really is a hidden gem. The atmosphere inside is very pleasant. Excellent food and great service. Certain dishes are pricey and portions can be small, but you're getting very good quality food and original meals
Excellent experience, great food, and a friendly wait staff. Three of us ate, and none of us were disappointed. Our choices included seafood, short ribs and a hamburger. My sea bass was delicious with a complex pilaf side dish, my wife enjoyed excellent short ribs, prepared with a special reduction. Her mother stuck to a simple hamburger, which she said ranked with the best she's ever eaten. This was a very pleasant surprise in a very unlikely setting... a strip mall. We almost discounted it, but we're happy we found it decided to give it a try. (some nice beer and drink selections, too!)
Once again my husband and I went to Chez Mike's. Once again Mike and his crew in the kitchen out did themselves. From presentation of each course to the mouth watering taste he nails it every time. Katie is the bartender on Friday evenings and her knowledge of each dish offered is wonderful. She is attentive, funny, and a great front person for the restaurant. We have never eaten at one of Mike's tables, but non the less each of the wait staff greet us with a welcoming smile and a hello. The staff has been there for years which I think is a great testament to how Mike runs his business.
What an amazing local restaurant. Service and atmosphere is great. The food is AMAZING! Everything is fantastic and beyond excellent. The calamari is the best I have ever had. I always get it. It doesn’t matter what you get just eat it!
Good decorum, relaxed environment. Attentive waitresses. Food, especially the beef short ribs, was devine. It is located in a shopping center that one may easily miss this gem of a restaurant. The only negative I can think of may be the price, but it isn't outrageous for the quality of the food. They also offered a slew of different kinds of beer, some of which must be local brews since I've never heard of them. Will definitely visit again in the future.
Simply the best restaurant in the area. If you were to take out a map and draw a 25 mile circle, with Chez Mike in the middle, this restaurant would stand alone offering the very best food, service, and value. Creative menu, perfect cocktails, professional service, and all of that in a friendly atmosphere. Perfection, every time.
My husband and I went for dinner last night and felt very comfortable eating indoors at Chez Mike - they seem to be following all CDC guidelines appropriately. Food was delicious as always and service was great. Looking forward to eating here again soon!
I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. I’ve been going regularly for about 5 years now and EVERY meal has been amazing - I can’t think of a single time that I left unimpressed. The menu changes frequently enough to keep things interesting. Everything is made so thoughtfully (for example, bread with delicious olive butter and the fantastic little cookies that come with the check during every meal) and the attention to detail is immaculate. The staff is SO hospitable and once even got to meet Mike himself, who has also incredibly kind. We are so lucky to have a place like this in East Greenbush!
First time eating here. Got take out. Will definitely be back. The little cookies that came with the meal were excellent. Wish they had those on the menu to buy. Fish was best I had ever had.
We've eaten here three times in the last two months and every time has been excellent. The staff are extremely personable, attentive and knowledgeable. Highly professional. And as for the food? Well, "Chez Mike" says it all. Big city dining in suburban Albany. We can't wait to eat here again.
Chez Mike is a gem in a strip mall setting. His menu is imaginative, sophisticated, and always provides a wonderful variety of standard and trendy offerings. His burger is the BEST I’ve had anywhere. I love the addition of smaller plate appetizers that can easily become a dinner entree. I am someone who appreciates this as I prefer consuming smaller portions. In my opinion, he is one of the top chefs in the area. My husband and I dine out often and frequent higher end restaurants from Troy to Saratoga. Mike ranks among the best. I would highly recommend trying this venue!!
Absolutely amazing. Do yourself a favor and get past the street mall part. This place has one of the most delicious and curated menu. The chef and the staff are superb. Drinks, apps & entrees are part of a perfect palate. Great place 😍
Another delicious meal at Chez Mike. I ordered the grilled grouper that was cooked rare just as I ordered. Perfect old fashion cocktail. It was my birthday and it was wonderful!
This is an upscale restaurant hidden in a strip mall. Do not let the location deceive you this is a 5 star place hidden in a 2 star setting. The food is to die for. I had the chicken which was moist and flavorful. Will have to go back and try the duck. The atmosphere is also great for date night since it is cozy and upscale.
Hyperbole is far too common today in descriptions, and it tends to muddy the waters when trying to convince people of the quality of a certain place or item. However, when it comes to describing Chez Mike, it is not a hyperbole to say that this is one of the best restaurants in the Capital Region based upon the food, service, and atmosphere. The staff is professional, funny, personable, and very attentive. I enjoy badgering the wait staff so they can educate me as to any items I'm not familiar with, and this happens quite often. One of my favorite things about CM is how unique and impressive the dishes are. Most are relatable, such as the burger or cut of steak, but then there is a certain mushroom or cheese incorporated that was new to me. Every time we visit I get some more tasty tidbits of trivia regarding elevated eating. Everything is good, and we would go everyday if we could.
Another amazing dinner..what a treat to get food that tastes this great and is fairly priced!!!
Small unassuming restaurant in a strip mall. Food is 5 star level quality. Tasty and deliberately created for the patron. Highly recommend, especially if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of albany.
An absolute hidden gem! Don't let it's strip mall location fool you. Chez Mike is by far one of the best fine dining establishments in the Capital Region. The food, service, and atmosphere are excellent. The menu changes seasonally, and everything is made with locally sourced ingredients. They even have their bread shipped up fresh from Tribeca (New York City) every day. The food is clearly gourmet, but it's so accessible and reasonably priced. If you want a gastronomic experience you're not soon to forget in a chic and unpretentious setting be sure to try Chez Mike. You will not leave disappointed.
Chez Mike is hands down my (and my husband's) favorite local restaurant. Every meal we've had there has been fantastic, and we appreciate the thoughtful, seasonal dishes Mike comes up with. Wonderful customer service as well, you won't be disappointed!
Don't let the exterior or location fool you. The food and service was amazing. We had the oysters app and it was great. Dinner was even better. We will definitely be back.
The location lacks something but once you walk inside you'll be amazed. Excellent service and amazing food you'll think your dining in a 5⭐ big city restaurant, Not in a strip mall. All I can say is you won't be disappointed. We were so happy to find this place. We'll be back the next time we're traveling in that part of NY! The service was way above what you could hope for from the Time you walk in till you leave you're treated like royalty. Cant say enough about this place, just a must go!
Don't let the appearance fool you. The food and service was outstanding. Osso Buco. Brick Chicken, Short Ribs, and Beef Liver were all perfectly prepared and beautifully served. The grilled octopus appetizer was great. Highly recommend this restaurant.
My family and I spent the evening at Chez Mike. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was great and our server, Jen, was outstanding. She deserves more than 5 stars. From the appetizer to the main course and dessert the meal was one of the best I’ve had in quite sometime. The service we received from Jen was the best I can remember from any wait staff person. I highly recommend Chez Mike and can’t say enough about Jen.
We walked in without a reservation, the hostess offered us a high- top, we chose to eat at the bar. We were the only people at the bar at that moment. It was a most delightful experience. Jen , the bartender/ server was totally on her game. Within 1/2 hour the entire restaurant was filled to capacity. Jen kept up the pace with accuracy and professionalism. This restaurant is a well oiled machine, with extremely friendly employees. The food, dessert and beverages were of the highest quality. We are on our way to NYC and will definitely stop here on a return trip. A++++
My partner and I went to Chez Mike for the first time, and the food was delicious!! My partner ordered a pork cutlet, and I ordered one of the specials. Both were fantastic, and the portions were large, which meant we were eagerly looking forward to having them again the next night. Drinks were great too! The staff was very kind and willing to answer all of our questions. We will definitely be coming back! Oh, and for Friday nights definitely make a reservation.
Love going here. The food is always amazing! Ordered takeout this time and it came with bread and their Olive compound butter, And the end of meal cookies. It's a little touch but no one else does that and it made my girlfriend and me really happy!
Very welcoming atmosphere. A community restaurant with a cosmopolitan aura. We've dined all over the US and world. Chez Mikes is up there with the best
We were visiting from out of town for a wedding and found Chez Mike’s through a Google search. We had a larger group dine here and absolutely had a wonderful time. The food was great and the atmosphere was even better. The design, decor, and staff really contributed to a great experience! We certainly appreciated the great service and accommodations for our baby stroller. Highly recommend to anyone visiting or local!
Best Restaurant in East Greenbush. I keep coming back to this place with a friendly and warm environment, great seasonal drinks, and impeccable service. The menu is always delicious and the atmosphere is welcoming, don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior.
After hearing nothing but positive things about this spot from several different people, we were able organize a date night away from the kids. The calamari was fantastic, and the "New Old Fashioned" I ordered was phenomenal. The fall menu had several interesting options, I chose the Brick Chicken with mashed fingerling potatoes. Everything was masterfully made. Definitely try this place out.
Second Visit Update: After returning to Chez Mike, I've given it full accolades. The food we had tonight was truly gourmet. By sticking themselves in such an odd little location, they can bring dishes to the table that would normally run twice the price. I had the short ribs, and they were easily the best short ribs I've ever had. I'll definitely be back for a third visit, and I won't wait a year this time. This place was very nice. The atmosphere was low key and warm, no music playing so conversation went very nicely. All of the food was clearly made with special care, and delicious. The cocktails were also excellent and made properly with attention to detail. There wasn't anything particularly special about the restaurant, but everything was tasty, fresh, and clearly made with an expert's eye.
Nice little spot in the plaza. Always forget it's here. Hadn't been in years. Food was great, and our waitress Katherine was attentive and prompt. 10/10. If you want to try your favorite staples with a culinary twist I'd definitely recommend.
We had a dinner party at 4 people. Each of our meals was excellent and the cocktails were excellent. Not an empty seat in the restaurant the entire time we were there. We will be going back. We had been there before COVID and are very happy to now be able to go back again!
This is where we go when we want a special meal. Is it more expensive than others around here? Yes, but the meals are special too. The service is always excellent as well. Their bread and butter is to die for.
Dinner was absolutely wonderful. I had the lasagna which was made to perfection. Our server, Jen, was a delight. She was very efficient and was knowledgeable about EVERYTHING on the menu. Great restaurant and great server!!
Always a great meal! Generous portions and just yummy! I had the short ribs on my last visit and the meat was falling off the bone, super tender and had a rich gravy that matched perfectly. Shame on me for not making the trip to East Greenbush more often to enjoy these meals. In 10 or so visits I have never been disappointed.
Delicious! Had the octopus, asparagus with fried egg, and fall off the bone short ribs! For dessert.. strawberry rhubarb crumble. All excellent. Everyone else at the table enjoyed their meals as well. Also enjoyed the kalamata olive butter and bread. Nice atmosphere. Wonderful surprise tucked away in a strip mall. Highly recommend Chez Mike's.
This restaurant is an absolute gem. We are lucky to have it in East Greenbush. The staff are all amazing! So grateful for our Wednesday dinners!
Was there with friends for a casual dinner. We ordered the clam chowder, beef short ribs, and duck confit. All are super delicious! A hidden gem in east green bush area. Will definitely come back again.
I went there with my wife and our dear friend Bonnie. Our waitress was upbeat, cheery and playful as well as accurate. I got the Braised short ribs and it was outstanding. Tender, succulent and loaded with flavor. Everything was top shelf. Can't wait to go back!
Excellent dinner! Food was way above average, very nice setting and Jason the bartender was excellent. Drinks were great. Bread and homemade butter were delicious. Calamari was light and fantastic. Highly recommend the brick chicken and seafood chowder. Last but not least, the homemade dessert, including ice cream, was amazing. It was obvious the staff were experienced and the food was high quality. Full compliments to the chef!
Love this place. My chicken dish special was so delicious that I ravished it before taking a picture! I’ve had quite a few dishes here. Always fantastic!
Delicious!!!! Low lighting, simple menu, chef prepared. Signature cocktails 🍸 never disappointed!
Don’t let the outside appearance fool you—what looks like just another strip mall spot is actually a dining experience worth seeking out. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality. The staff at Chez Mike’s go above and beyond, making every guest feel like a regular. Krystal, the bartender, deserves special mention. She not only remembers your drink of choice but also whether your favorite team pulled off a win. Her attentiveness ensures your glass (and your mood) are always well taken care of. The food is nothing short of outstanding. The menu changes frequently, reflecting the freshest seasonal ingredients. Whether it’s the hearty, fall-off-the-bone short ribs or the elevated twist on seafood chowder, each dish is prepared with care and flavor that exceeds expectations. Chez Mike’s is the kind of hidden gem you almost want to keep to yourself. But the combination of incredible food, thoughtful service, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it too good not to share.
5 stars all around for the bartender working Tuesday December 30th closing shift! As both party members are in the food industry we noticed that she independently managed front of house and made personalized menu recommendations to every table in her section. We applaud her ability to make every table experience remarkable! She made our first meal at the restaurant memorable and we will be returning! :)
I stumbled across a writeup and then discovered this CIA-trained chef's well-established restaurant, which I had passed countless times. I wouldn't normally look for food of this caliber in a shopping plaza, but, once cloistered inside, the ambience is warm and welcoming, while also chic and clean. The appetizer special - green beans with a variety of creamy mushrooms, prosciutto and crisp fried onion - was delicious. The strip steak and potatoes were top notch and done to my liking. The service was near perfect. I would rate it among the top restaurants in the county, if not the actual best, and, if you know where to look, there is close competition.
I stopped by randomly last night without having a reservation and was given a seat at the bar right away. Food and service were best! I love seafood chowder and got dessert-a house made chocolate ice cream to die for. I'll be back soon! My neighbor next to me got a filet minion looked so gorgeous! I'll be definitely back even sooner! I love this place from the first sight.
What a wonderful experience at Chez Mike. The staff and waiter were welcoming, knowledgeable and caring. The food was fresh, well presented and a wonderful selection of choices. The soup was unbelievable. Multiple layers of flavor. We had the risotto, which was a special, the pork loin sandwich was crispy, moist and offered multiple levels of flavor. The pork chop was also a great selection, with delicious homemade mashed potatoes. I’ll attach photos. Highly recommend this place.
Had one of the better meals of my life here last night. Our server (Denise, sorry if I got the spelling wrong) was very attentive and also picked up on us being easy-going so she dropped a couple of jokes with us. Would definitely go back, would definitely recommend. Incredibly good food with upscale quality and execution but in a fairly casual setting and not expensive. What a gem!
Food and service were excellent. Thrilled that bread was served without a charge and with olive butter! Short ribs and duck were excellent. The waiter was very welcoming and helpful. The only downside is that it's located in a strip mall and has a small "face" which made it a bit hard to find. Find it! You'll love it!
We walked in and Amy was fabulous and so welcoming. The drinks were strong and delicious. Our server Jenn was attentive and kind, and our entire party loved our shared apps and mains. The short rib- was so yummy! The peanut butter cookies at the end were so yummy: excited to eat them again. Don’t let the strip mall deter you. A hidden gem!
We were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance. The food was very delicious and came out at perfect temperatures — everything seasoned well. Both dishes, the roasted chicken and chicken Milanese, were juicy and moist (not dry at all, we really appreciated that). My wife got a take home box and to her surprise and mine, there was a very cute note from the kitchen. We will be eating there again in the near future.
WOW! Amazing service, food, and drinks!!! The blood orange margarita was INCREDIBLE. Food was DELECTABLE. and Tina, the bartender was attentive and friendly and made my experience joyful and lovely. I will definitely be back. The setting is romantic, intimate, and classy, yet approachable… and the staff feels like family even though it was the first time I’ve visited. Can’t wait to take my hubby out for date night!
Picked Chez Mike off the map and decided to give it a try. The staff was as awesome as the food. The brussel sprout and squash appetizer was delicious. Mains consisted of the Sheppard's pie and the brick roasted chicken, both were thoroughly enjoyed. Dessert was the warm apple crumble and the pumpkin tart which were both equally good. The web page says quality food and neighborhood atmosphere and that sums it up perfectly.
Stopped in for lunch today and the place was pretty quiet. Staff was friendly enough. The skirt steak sandwich was pretty damn good. If I had to come up with a complaint...maybe too much salt on the fries? Nothing a little ketchup didn't fix. I'll probably go back to try some other things...or more of the same.
Finding ourselves back in the area after several years we returned to Chez Mike with a reservation which is definitely recommended. They still have some of the best food around for the money. Their (French) bread and butter are very good, and the wine list is still well curated with many reasonably priced bottles. As we'd experienced before, they graciously plated the single starter salad we shared in two portions. The beef short ribs are still delicious, although very rich such that they would benefit from being accompanied by a vegetable in addition to the mashed potatoes. The seared calves liver which had previously been several smaller pieces was just one large, slightly tougher piece, on this occasion, although still tasty. Unfortunately, they get quite busy (and noisy!) and our sever stopped serving us at some points, leaving us to what seemed to be random staff before reappearing with the check, which was a disappointment. Also, once again we found that deserts are not their strength and are best avoided. Nonetheless, Chez Mike is still very much worth a stop when anywhere near the vicinity.
I've been eating at Chez Mike for years and I have always enjoyed my meal. My most recent visit was the first time I was disappointed in my choice. I ordered swordfish and the accompanying sides just didn't work with the fish, which was very good. My friend's coq au Vin chicken thighs were excellent and great comfort food.
Nice place in middle of strip mall. Great cocktails, inventive food. One dish was heavy on salt, but was okay with extra bread. Server Tina is energetic and outwardly pleasant, but gave herself extra$ on my credit card bill for her tip. Watch out!
The atmosphere and waitstaff were nice. Our particular waitress was both friendly and knowledgeable. Overall the food was disappointing especially for the price. I still give it 3 stars hoping that maybe it was just an off night although it was my first time so I can’t confirm that. I had 3 things (beer, app, and entree) and none of them were memorable or particularly good. The beer is one I have often at other places and it tasted close to being flat, perhaps it had been sitting around awhile. Each person at our table tried the calamari and agreed something was wrong. Sorry for the detail, I’m not exaggerating - I was chewing for over a minute before a had to spit it out. They were nice enough to take it off the bill and acknowledged it wasn’t right. I’m not sure if it was frozen too long or just cooked poorly. As for the entree, I had the salmon and it was fine. It wasn’t very memorable, but based on the taste, portion size, and the cost, it was subpar as an entire dish (the salmon was cooked well). Everyone’s portions were on the small side, which is fine if that’s the vibe the place gives but I didn’t expect it to be that small at a “neighborhood” type restaurant. That might be on me though with expectation. I did go home and have dinner afterwards. Again, I hope it was just an off night but I would only go back in the hopes that it would prove me wrong.
Came here for an early birthday celebration and requested a candle with my dessert. The server asked if it was my “real birthday,” and after I explained it was an early celebration, the dessert arrived without a candle—while other tables received them. The food was good, but the experience felt dismissive and embarrassing. A simple gesture would have made the evening special; instead, it left a negative impression.
Disappointing. This place looks like a simple diner, it's overpriced. Got Brick Roasted Chicken for $20 and it took them 40 minutes to cook it, it was brought with two tablespoons of mashed potatoes and a full plate of spinach. For $20? Really? Chicken was ok, but nothing earth-shaking and definitely shouldn't be $20 in such place. Won't be back.
We have been to Chez Mike before and were impressed. Today, 6/24, we showed up without a reservation. I knew there was going to be a wait since we didn't have one. The hostess looked at us and said she had to seat the reservations first. She said we could sit at the bar until she could tell us how long the wait would be. We got a few drinks and she never came by and checked on us. Didn't even take our name down for a spot eventually. We asked the bartender to see how long the wait would be. She told us 20 minutes. We waited. The hostess still never came around to seat us, and others that were there without reservation were seated before us. Not impressed about how this was handled. We walked out and the hostess said nothing on our departure. Hopefully a good experience next time since we have a coupon, but definitely deterring from coming back to be honest.
I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant, as I had heard great things about it. It was ok, at best. The dining room was very crowded and we even changed tables due to being uncomfortably cold. My app and entree were fair, nothing special. Our waitress really didn’t seem to know what she was doing. I doubt I’ll be back.
Although I have heard good things about this restaurant and the atmosphere was very nice, the service was extremely slow. I went for lunch and ordered the scallop salad. I was very disappointed. It should have been considered a side salad, not a meal for lunch. It had barely any lettuce, and had only three medium sized scallops. I was still very hungry after my earing my salad. I probably wouldn't go back based on this experience.
Had the Hanger steak special. Took a long time. It wasn't even hot. Green beans had several over cooked to the point of inedible. Chopped up sweet potatoes. Again over cooked, dried up and bland. Steak had hardly any teriyaki glaze on it. Sauteed mushrooms were again over cooked and dry. Placed the mushrooms on top of the sweet potatoes for some reason. The bread and butter was good. The Pepsi cola was flat. My friend had the brick baked chicken. For $30 You get one half of a chicken breast. I tasted it it was good. But geez. I bought roasted chicken at Hanniford's I got two thighs, two legs and two wings for $5. And it was moister and just as tasty. Place in an over priced joke. Must be a local status symbol to eat there. Can't think of any other reason people would eat there.
Ate here, had a guy named Tim as my server. Food was great, but I couldn’t enjoy it properly as my server really made our table uncomfortable. He seemed super pushy, kept touching our table and interrupted when we were talking. I also noticed that when he brought our food to the table that some of our dishes were brushing up against his shirt. Ew! I’ve been a server at a high end restaurant for many years and feel that this guy doesn’t know what he’s doing. Hats off to the chef, consider getting better wait staff.
When I went it was awful. This is supposed to be a "fancy" restaurant but it's not even close. First off how can you make a "fancy" restaurant in a plaza!? The seats were not clean. They had crumbs all over and no one seemed to think to brush them off. The bathrooms had sticky floors. Does the bathroom not get cleaned!? I had gotten a grilled cheese which was way overpriced. My family's food was burnt around the edges and my grilled cheese was burnt. Black. How do you burn grilled cheese!!?? This place will never be a "fancy restaurant". Ever. Too awful of quality.
Horrible treatment on a very special evening. Was our Anniversary, had been loyal customers for years , even during covid, we ordered take-out to help them out! We requested a booth this evening and requested a particular waitress. Was told couldn’t get that waitress at a booth, so we said that’s okay, we will just have whoever at the booth. She then said “ sorry but you can’t have a booth either “ there were 2 booths open. I asked “why not” she said “ we are going to be holding them “IN CASE” tables of 4 come in” I pointed out that every booth had 2 people at them. She then said “ well they came in little earlier” it was 6:15. Have never heard such a ridiculous statement. It is very special to get to go to a restaurant especially on a special occasion. This particular person has always had an attitude, as a waitress she is patronizing and condescending. Sorry to have to write this but she is not a person that knows how to treat people in an establishment like this. Can’t talk about the food because we didn’t get past the arrogant waitress/hostess that came over to the door. Very sad when a restaurant has such an obnoxious person at the front door. They lost very long standing customers this evening. Apparently they got a little too big to remember the good people who helped get them there.
On July 9th at around 8:00 pm, I walked in to get my take out order. When I asked for an itemized receipt the hostess got an attitude and said, "I don't understand what you mean." After I explained what an itemized receipt is, she handed me the receipt and sarcastically said, "Have a good night", and I hadn't even gotten my order yet. On a previous occasion, I asked the same hostess for plastic silverware and got attitude about that too. I love the food here, but don't enjoy the attitude I have to receive in order to pick up my food.
