Its a great place to go away and relax . My first time,i ll come back. Excellent service and food ( except for My waitress christy at rank and file) she took our order and disappeared, never smily, never greeted, never make us feel confortable 😞) 2christian and martita help us and they did great 201598 204289. We loved every single detail in our room (beatiful, clean and looks like brand newq. The most impressive thing, was the pool wowwwww its a dream,so magic and great natural environment around the hotel and views.
Super beautiful pool with palm trees surrounding it. It has two pools, two hot tubs and a lazy river. Throw in a bar, plenty of daybeds and some cabanas, and a casino right off the pool with $5 blackjack and you’re in for an amazing time! If you stay at the hotel, make sure to get your day pass that comes with your rooms! Great place to lounge around and have some drinks
Nice pool, friendly staff.
We visited here every 3 weeks
So much fun I heard
It was a wonderful relaxing day
Had a great time. 😍
I love the lazy river.
Loved it.
Lazy river is awesome
The staff is amazing
So awesome
Looooved it
Love the lazy river.
This is a great place. Staff super nice and other guests are very friendly. Lazy river is very fun.
A great place to unwind without the kids! A definite must do for parents looking to get away for a date night or weekend.
Ahh-mazing! It was so fun and the food was great. Good value for the price, we'll be back!
Loved it, the drinks are pricey, but very good can't wait to go back...
Fun but good service stops to early. Drinks are very pricey.
Great place for a staycation or vacation! Good music and nice pools.
Always a fantastic experience at Sycuan! I always appreciate the warm customer service
Love it!! Several pools, 21+, bar, food, even gambling.
Beautiful
Amazing vibes, good views, good food, tasty drinks, and fast service!!
Was super chill, perfect weather, nice day trip.
The customer service was excellent and the waitress was outstanding.
Loved the lazy river, had a great time, thanks!
Great get away from the San Diego downtown life.
Had a great time for my fiancée birthday
Very relaxing. Sunnier than in the coast.
Absolutely beautiful..
Soo relaxing and good strong drknks
Beautiful, peaceful and fun!
Such a great Saturday pool party scene. The vibe is perfect with the live DJ and all my favorite songs and throwbacks. Free water and great wait staff. Everyone is smiling and having a good time! I'll definitely be back
Great afternoon poolside. Very pretty area. Jacuzzi was nice as was the lazy river even though the climate was a bit cool. The bartender was great and we enjoyed a couple new drinks, ritual fizz, which was very tasty and one of the best Pina coladas I've had. Everyone was friendly. There wasn't a crowd on Wednesday. It's a day I would chose to return on. We had a great time and met some fun people. Can't wait for our next visir.
This Was Such A Perfect Spot To Chill For The Day! The Lazy Pool Was Just That. Enjoy Poolside Service While Relaxing In The Cool Waters Was Everything. Went On A Weekday, So Wasn't Crowded At All. Cannot Wait To Go Again.
So relaxing and quiet. No kids allowed and anyone 21 and up can buy an all day pool pass for $40 and the waitresses make sure you have everything you need 😀
Really nice pool and cabana area with outdoor bar and a stage for events. I didn't check out the lazy river this time, but it looked fun.
We had a cabana and it was amazing. There's no other way to relax poolside!! I recommend to get one with friends and family. Lots of fun!!
Great Lazy River. Lots of Stereo speakers to enjoy listening to their music. Very convenient located next to Hotel elevators .
Awesome place to chill and enjoy the Padres suite we stayed in. Wife and I had a great time at the pool and suite and all the amenities sycuan resort had to offer. I would give 5 stars except for a little issue we had. But ill and all we had a good time and very much loved the restaurant, delicious food.
People need to pick up after themselves.
Lazy river is awesome! Hot tub is really 🔥! Drinks are pricy.
The pool ar Sycuan is very cool especially this summer!
Facilities are stylish, contemporary and clean. The best lounge chairs are by reservation only. Worth the price if your plan is to eat and drink poolside all day. Music/DJ does not cater to the Begees era crowd. Drinks were just okay. Pero no me aguito por que fue gratis! 😜😁
Definitely the best casino/resort pool experience in the San Diego county! Two different pools and a lazy river with no kids allowed, which is great! They have great DJ/music and serve food/drinks, too. The place is never overcrowded and we normally come on weekends. Wish they extended Saturday nights swim past Labor Day. Had to take one star off due to the chlorine in the water, which leaves a strong terrible smell on swimsuits and damages the hair. It would be nice if Sycuan invested in the saltwater pools instead or, at the very minimum, had showers available in the pool area. Other that, we definitely enjoy coming here.
No frozen cocktails like Miami Vice available despite being on the menu online and at the retreat bar. Other than that, good service and well-maintained.
Love coming here but my only complaint is the music is good but a little too loud which makes it less relaxing.
Spent a great afternoon here. We were lucky to get comped a daybed, and enjoyed the pools with no stress. Only real complaint was the first round of margaritas was super sour and didn't seem like there was any booze? But otherwise great experience!
Love the lazy river , but wasn't able to fully enjoy a stay at the hotel cause the food made me feel sick 🤮
The drinks were horrible at the pool, overpriced too. The music is loud if you like that kind of thing, not my kind of music the grungy rap music.
Pool and lazy river are nice, but JESUS CHRIST, there seems to be an effort to make people deaf by BLASTING the music so loud that conversation is impossible. Maybe I'm to old for this place, but this feels like and audio assault. There is no escape from the noise as they placed speakers everywhere and it goes non-stop. Actually got a bit of a headache from the over saturated bass. Maybe they should consider cranking out down a bit.
Swim up bar was closed, they were supposed to be open till 6:00, but had us get out of the lazy river at 3:00, for a private party, it would of been nice if we were told this ahead of time. Uncommons were closed.
Spent the day at Retreat Lazy River yesterday with some friends and have a few things I'd like to share. 1. If your going to charge $40 for an adult only pool and river then at least provide an float rings that are adult sized. The holes are maybe a foot in diameter. Kiddie sized for adult only pool,as are the towels. 2. We spent almost $600 on food and beverage. The shrimp tacos were missing....umm, shrimp. And the snack platter that Jamaican jerk wings but deliveries deep batter fried pressed chicken tenders over fries, and another plate of chips and guacamole (which was delicious). But that's it,for $54! Highly disappointed with the food choices and quality. 3. Discarded cups and other trash sat alongside the river all day. As we cruised around the river, I finally just picked it up myself bc it was an eyesore. 4. Hannah was an amazing waitress and a credit to the establishment, as was all the staff (except maintenance). Would I return and spend another $600 with friends. No, we will make the much longer drive to Harrah's for next months get together.
You won't get a chair unless you get there very early. You have asked people if they arent using a float. Customers shouldnt have to do that. And the lazy river should be for floating around, not standing at the edge drinking. There should maybe some kind dressing room and lockers.
Horrible service.. I never got the service I anticipated. All the waitresses do is smile but refuse to help. They just group together and do NOTHING. I had to keep getting up and getting my own drinks and food. Very upset. I have pictures of proof. Refer to my Yelp review. I am beyond furious.
This place is eh. My husband and I had a weekend away from the kiddos so we thought cabana would be fun! Our usual casino that we go to was booked so we decided to come to Sycuan retreat.. more like Sycuan retirement lol. You can’t bring any outside music they watch you like hawks mind you the music they play is elevator music. Our music wasn’t loud at all and if you have a $1300+ tab you’d expect to have fun! With good music. I understand at some point they will have their own DJ coming but on this day they had no DJ soooo why not let people have fun and bring small speakers. My husband wanted to buy a bottle of 1942 but they put the entire bottle in a plastic pitcher which is kind of bummer but oh well I guess it’s a safety issue. Not interested in returning. These people are strict doesn’t matter how much you spend. If they don’t want us to have fun at least let us bring our kids. I’m sure they’ll enjoy the elevator music.
I recently had a disappointing experience with a cabana reservation at this venue where we had planned to celebrate a birthday. We booked the cabana months in advance and confirmed our intention to stay all day, as it was a Monday afternoon and there wasn’t a lot of guests. Initially, our server was polite, but after an hour and a half, she informed us that she wasn’t feeling well and would need close us out and leave for the day. We were only 2 people and had already spent $500 for the cabana, and during that time, we ordered fish tacos, a fruit cup, and a bottle of Don Julio Blanco. The bottle was poured into a pitcher that resembled a water jug, which was not what we expected. Our server left, and we were informed that a new server would be with us shortly. After waiting for 2 hours, we finally met the new server, only to discover that the pitcher containing our Don Julio Blanco was missing. We had not consumed an entire bottle, but it was gone. The new server admitted she had mistaken it for a water pitcher and discarded it. She promised to speak to her manager and get back to us, but we waited an additional 30-45 minutes without any follow-up. Eventually, they provided us with what they estimated to be half a bottle of Don Julio in a proper container, but no manager ever came to address the situation or offer an apology for the inconvenience. Overall, the service was subpar, and given the high cost of the cabana, I cannot recommend this experience. The lack of proper communication and management oversight left a lot to be desired.
Service and vibe have declined drastically over the last 2 years. Extremely long service times for food and drinks. There's a lack of attention to detail.
I had a terrible experience here this year. I come to sycuan’s retreat pool and cabanas every year and i usually have a great time. However, this year the service was terrible. You should avoid coming here. Someone named Lauren was just awful. We kept seeing her walking around the entire time looking like she’s judging all the guests as if she’s better than everyone there. I asked her to get me a water, she never did and when i asked, she had a sour face. It is normal to ask for water as it gets very hot and the workers should not want their guests to get dehydrated and faint. I don’t understand why she has such an attitude every time i am there. I later found out shes actually the manager which makes things even worse. As a manager, you should be nicer than the servers if anything and ensure things are running smoothly instead of letting guests overheat by not providing me with water. The last thing the manager should want is a guest to faint and call an ambulance….All lauren said was “ok” and never came back to me yet continued walking around with her head held way too high. I’m not sure why she didn’t just tell me that i should ask a server or someone else, but regardless this left an awful taste in my mouth. Most of the servers are new and cant really answer questions on the menu or anything so don’t expect help on that.
Over priced. SUPER Under staffed- took more than 45 minutes to get a drink. Those poor girls are being ripped around everywhere having to attend to 50 different things ar once. 45 minutes for a drink & we paid for a cabana. That’s ridiculous. They need waitresses to specifically work for cabanas. Food was terrible!! We had Hailey as our waitress she is always super good and the timing of the drinks is not her fault. I saw 3 waitresses that whole day. For the price your paying it’s just ridiculous. Not worth the hype in my opinion. I’d rather hit up Harrahs for a pool day.
2025 update: Still terrible and bartenders can't make some drinks to save their lives. 5 drinks at over $15 each should make you feel something right? Not here. Expect overpriced watered down drinks. A 4th of July event that costs $75 and is unclear if you get food or drinks with this (probably not), are you out of your minds? Original review: This place used to be a lot better just a few years ago, had great bartenders and great events which don't exist any more (I'm looking at you, summer movie nights and Snoop Dogg DJing). Fast forward to today the staff aren't friendly, the bartenders suck and it's no longer worth the $25 just to get in. Current staff needs customer service training along with bartender training. One of the bartenders couldn't make a Mojito to save his life. I've had better Mojitos at dive bars. After he made it he said they were out of mint which is a key ingredient and should have been mentioned before making it, not after. He did not ask me if I had a rewards card and just charged me and my friend's drink on the same card without asking. After taking a sip of it I could tell right away it was awful, even if it had mint and decided to try to just have another drink made instead because it just tasted like watered down soda water. The bartender was insistent now on finding some mint which I guess now magically exists? He threw it in there and didn't care that I wanted a different drink at this point. It was in no way shape or form worth $17 (was supposed to be $15 with the rewards card that he did not ask if I had). I had another incident with a different bartender when trying to order a frozen Piña Colada which is on the menu. He informed me the frozen "machine" wasn't working yet basically wasn't cold enough because he just added ice recently but said it would be ready in about 10 minutes. 30 minutes go by and I try to order it again and he tells me it's still not ready. I ended up ordering a spicy margarita which wasn't spicy at all and he forgot the jalapeños. Now onto the gambling room which I took a look at only to see 5 (count em), 5 slot machines, no gamblers and no black jack dealer. Might be the saddest room I've ever seen. Overall with incompetent and not so friendly staff, overpriced drinks and admission, lack of events and gambling I cannot recommend "Retreat" Pool to anyone.
Very rude bartender put a damper on the experience. We stayed a couple nights at SYCUAN and decided to check out the pool on Thursday 5/23 around 1pm. We have a wristbands on and head down there. Everyone with the staff was great until we get to the bar. The bar was empty and the bartender took his time to attend to us. Then he looks at my wristband and asks to see my ID. I’m a 40 year old male. He proceeds to violently bend and flick my ID like he thinks it’s fake. Then tells me to take off my glasses and hat and put my ID next to my face to compare. Clearly going out of his way to give me a hard time. Finally says what do you want? And proceeds to make a couple poor drinks for my wife and I. My wife was pissed and wanted to leave immediately but I convinced her to stay down there. We ended up ordering another drink through one of the servers and she was great and the drinks were better. But ultimately the bartender seemed to be having a bad day and ruined ours as well.
